I've been a member of quite a few CrossFit gyms, and Two Wolves/13 Stripes has by far been one of…read moremy favorites. I checked out a couple of gyms in the area, but I settled on this one due to the immediate sense of community, the programming, the space, and the coaching. I have hit huge PRs and made big strides as an athlete since joining. The coaches care and ensure each person is receiving the help they need to get better - both newbies and experienced athletes alike.

Buyer Beware!! They have a 3 month contract so they aren't subject to the PA Health Club Act…read more When you get to read the contract it is totally one-sided and you have no recourse if they don't provide services because what they are to provide is not really in there. They hold you to a 24 notice policy, but their employees can schedule, cancel or reschedule as they please. First appointment for nutrition was asked to be rescheduled due to snow storm on hubs surgery date, it was entered as a missed appointment. The nutritionist never had any intention of rescheduling. When I tried to ask about things the trainer referred to nutritionist and nutritionist referred back to trainer. Owner only addresses issue of contract which says they can do that. They refuse to make it right or let you out of the contract. Their Better Business rating is a D+ mostly cause they don't respond to them. Then you see the owner is a consultant for a firm that helps gym owners scam people like this. $3k 3 month contracts no wonder she doesn't have to work. DO NOT JOIN A GYM!! The PA Attorney General has a whole lot of info about scams like this.

Formerly a Gold's Gym, it's still pretty much a Gold's Gym concerning the equipment, space, and…read moresuch; some of the equipment still has the former's badging. The equipment is in generally good shape -- I've only found one loose bolt in the few weeks I've been going there -- and they seem almost obsessive with cleaning (a very good thing). There is a pretty good turf area with a sled and battle ropes as well. Everyone working here is friendly and helpful, and it seems to be a place where you can get in, get it done, and get out if you need. The locker rooms are clean if pretty basic. I don't use the saunas and such, so have nothing to report, but they are a thing. Light Crowd: I haven't seen it crowded at all. I should probably disclaim that I lift six days per week in the early afternoon, so I avoid peak hours and don't have any input on them; I'm told mornings are busy. When I have been there, it's been a mix of abilities and ages, with people generally keeping to themselves and being reasonable even when it's a group of younger "gym bro" types. Not Perfect Hours: I miss my gyms of recent years that were open 24/7 or at least had greatly extended hours, seven days per week (e.g., 4a-midnight). The gym is only open six days per week and doesn't seem to have the extended hours I generally expect from large gyms in other places. They were closed over a recent holiday, and I didn't know about that closure until I saw a small sign on the locked door -- there was nothing on the website nor any text/alert indicating the reduced hours. My one suggestion for this place is to figure out if there's a way to grant 24/7 access or at least be open 7 days per week. Everything else is just fine for me as it is.

CrossFit Acernus is one of the best and friendliest boxes in Lebanon and surrounding areas. The…read moretrainers are all knowledgeable and friendly. Everyone that goes there is awesome and encouraging. With some other boxes around here, you're met with an elitist attitude. I won't go so far as to name names, but some of the people that go here travel from the Palmyra area because of the elitists from the other box. The facility is large and clean....don't be fooled by the exterior. The class sizes are kept to smaller groups, so you get more attention. If you can't do the WOD because of some injury or you just can't do some of the exercises, they will accommodate with alternatives. The price is really great compared to other CF boxes...starting at $10 a session. Granted, it isn't "globo-gym" priced, but you basically get a personal trainer working with you on every session. I have several friends that signed up for the YMCA when they were doing discounts for family memberships and they have gone a handful of times. So that $200 unlimited membership is probably going to cost them more in the long run and I guarantee they aren't getting a workout like we do. CrossFit itself is just amazing. You work hard, there's no doubt...it's not for everyone. I've been going here since it's grand opening last year and have seen some serious gains. I started out barely being able to do 20 consecutive squats and not a single pull-up to now deadlifting 255lbs and 10 consecutive strict pull-ups. I didn't really intend to lose any weight but I've dropped 2 waists sizes and have gained quite a bit of tone and muscle definition. Downsides? I had to buy a lot of new clothes. It's addicting so I find myself going to a WOD instead of mowing the lawn. You risk becoming a CrossFit Cult member.

Never again will I set foot in a "globo" gym. It's a waste of time. With CrossFit Acernus, I'm faster, stronger and can go longer. Every workout focuses on strength, conditioning, flexibility, coordination, and the list goes on. The trainers teach you and take you through each and every workout in a small team setting. Its not like your typical gym, its more like a family of fitness. Warning: You will be challenged but you will be in the best shape of your life!
