Let me start by saying that I have tried CrossFit before and was turned off to it because I pushed…read moremyself way too hard in the beginning. I thought I would give Iron musket a try and Keri-Anne (the gym owner) saw me making my same mistake and cautioned me many times to take it easier or try alternative workouts. At the same time, she didn't let me just give up when she knew I had more in me. She was the right amount of "Come on! Give me one more set!" and "Woah, slow down. I don't want you to hurt yourself." Another thing, CrossFit has a bad reputation for using bad form and actually causing more injuries, but not at this gym. Keri-Anne is actually a licensed Physical Therapist and is very educated on proper body mechanics, so she continuously stressed using proper form and lifting techniques, even if it meant using less weight. One last thing about this place: I wanted to keep going to this gym, but I ran into a bit of a financial pinch. I didn't give her 14 days notice to cancel my payments as I was supposed to, and instead of charging me another month or taking it to collections like any other CrossFit gym would have, she forgave me and said she understands tough times happen and she just wants to see me come back when I am in a better place. She is a wonderful person and a great trainer. I highly recommend this place, especially if you are new to CrossFit. You wont regret it.y

You ever see those girls at your gym that tries to lift weights, but has absolutely no idea what…read moreshe's doing? Yup, that's me and I have no problem admitting that! If someone isn't there to guide me while lifting weights, well then I'm shit out of luck. Cardio workouts are the only thing I know. A few weeks ago I finally realized it was time to get my act together and learn how to do more than run on a treadmill or dance around a studio. My best friend's little sister has been a part of Noble Crossfit for over a year now and always tried to get me to join. I was mainly discouraged before because of the price tag, but thought if I maybe didn't go out to eat and drink EVERY weekend..then I can use that money to pay for Crossfit. Or I can pretend I'm a baller and do it all? Sounds like something I'd do. Then I compared it to getting a personal trainer, which essentially that's what Noble Crossfit offers. At my gym, they charge $80 PER SESSION for a personal trainer. That trainer better give me the body of Jen Selter in that session if I'm paying $80 an hour. So, yes..a membership at Noble Crossfit is overall a GREAT value. Anyways, Noble Crossfit has been great. Laura, Nathan, and Ma truly care that you're doing the work outs properly and will adjust to your capabilities. Seeing as I have basically no upper body strength or lifting experience, they really take the time out to show me the proper techniques and form. They, along with all the members, are not there to judge you. They are there to help you lead a healthier lifestyle, so you'll never get that judgmental vibe. Yes there will be members there that are far more experienced than you, but honestly..they're focused on their own workouts...not standing there to see how much you can lift. I love that they have the workout of the day, which presents a variety/combination of work outs. Every day that you come in, you're in for a new surprise. And sometimes what's listed on the board will make you want to run back to your car and go home, but then you realize to not get scared because the instructors will guide you through it all. Nothing is impossible. You just gotta work hard and you'll grow and see results from there. And no, Noble Crossfit is not a cult..like many people assume haha

With the people, the workouts, and the coaches. Noble meets you where you are so you don't have to have experience or know form and techniques. Every workout can be scaled. As someone who dedicates their life to work and exploring new food spots, working out has never…read morebeen my forte. I am a notorious quiter. If I struggle at something athletic, I am usually the first person to determine my time would be better spent completing work tasks not done during the work day. Turning 30, I decided I needed a change and signed up for the Southern Maryland CrossFit "Fall Into Fitness" Special. The "Fall Into Fitness" Special included unlimited classes for six weeks totalling $125.00 per person. My husband agreed to do it with me as support for a new step we both knew was going to be a struggle for me. Walking into Southern Maryland CrossFit, I did not know what to think but I was immediately greeted by Coach Amy who wove humor into her customer service paperwork requirements to help ease the obvious anxiety I was feeling upon walking in. Once you leave the small office, the entire remainder of the space is dedicated to work out space and equipment. Classes are on a rolling basis so when one is ending, the next class is preparing to warm up while other members are on the perimeter doing independent lifting tasks (ie. bench press, squats, overhead press). Warm ups are similar each day allowing for members to have some similarity and focus on the other components of the work out for the day. Each day of the week is different at Southern Maryland CrossFit and each coach works to support every members at their individual level/area of need. As a noob, each coach works with me on my form and help me scale the work out to a reasonable level (even when I am feeling spunky and try to go too heavy too soon). The coaches suggest members use a notebook of some sort to track their individual working weights and PRs; but if maintaining a notebook isn't your style (or you frequently forget where you put things), Southern Maryland CrossFit posts photos of their daily board onto their Facebook page. Overall, Southern Maryland CrossFit is extremely active on their website and social media platforms posting the daily work out, daily work out results, and even weekly messages from the owners! After a few months at Southern Maryland CrossFit, I feel stronger but something more important happened: I started to feel like part of a community. Each member is friendly, social, supportive, and down to help/scale with anyone whether you're new or a seasoned CrossFit participant. Even during the Corona Virus (COVID19) Pandemic, the Southern Maryland CrossFit Coaches and members have online virtual workout plans, virtual workout challenges, video meet ups, and frequent social media engagement. If you're a CrossFit kind of person or even if you're someone like me just looking to make a change to bring some healthy-ish balance to your life, consider Southern Maryland CrossFit. You won't regret it!

The place is not welcoming, the owner doesn't answer questions/phone, the hours are terrible. For me, crossfit gyms are supposed to be community-based. This is far from it. They won't allow for drop ins, supposedly because people are not respectful, but it really to lock you into the contract. On the only class was able to go, they give you all the rules. Drop the bar and that's 8 minutes of burpees for everyone but you. So much for community, pinning people against other. Drive 10 minutes more. Go somewhere else.
