PLEASE TURN ON THE AC! I got heat exhaustion from working out here! Nice gym besides that, and the crazy expensive non-student rates.

PART 2: (Owner of…read moreGretchen the Saint Bernard, if you're reading this: yes, she also yells at and punishes your sweet OLD dog for barking. Gretchen only barked because Gina was around and she didn't like her.) Also, they'll throw the dogs GETTING humped out of group instead of removing the humper. A number of times I had hyper dogs in group -- shepherds and huskies like Sierra (if Sierra's owner sees this, yes, she's also a hump victim they won't protect) -- that just wanted to zoom around and play. But because they don't know shit about dogs, they get mad at the DOG and remove it from group, sometimes trapping it inside in a crate during yard time. Multiple times they came to take dogs from my group and I told them I already had them under control, they were literally just speeding around and playing. But Gina gets mad when dogs bark and excite other dogs, so inside crate time it is. Also, just for the record, most of the good dog pictures on their site/social media were taken by me. Again, unprofessional as hell because she makes staff use their personal phones to take pictures for the business. Not all the dogs get their walks every day because there simply are not enough staff for that to even be possible. If your dog barks, best believe Gina is punishing them for it when she's there. They also give dogs weed/CBD drops without consulting owners because they want them quieter. The regular hourly staff are mostly good with dogs, but they all get fired arbitrarily -- or not even officially fired. They just get removed from the schedule out of nowhere and ghosted. Happened to at least four staff members while I was there. And the ones who didn't get ghost fired? Gina screamed and cussed them out until they quit. At LEAST two employees. The dogs love the regular come-and-go staff because most of them actually care about the dogs and are good with them. But I would NEVER trust my dogs left in the care of Connor or Gina. NEVER NEVER NEVER. And the rest of the staff could be fired literally any second for nothing. The owner is basically a spoiled rich little girl who used rich little girl money to open a kennel but has absolutely no idea how to run a business or properly care for dogs. She likes dogs because they're probably the only creatures capable of caring about her and because she can control them through abuse or paid trainers. But she hates dogs that don't like her. And all this is relatively recent. I wasn't even there THAT long and I still saw all of this. One more thing. Theyre not very careful about making sure the food and water bowls are all dry and clean of the bleach theyre washed in before feeding and watering dogs out of them. And when i was there and careful about they stopped me cause "it was wasting time and we dont have enough dishes to wait for those to be dry of bleach water."

We brought him home as an 8‑week‑old puppy and trained him daily, but he presented challenges beyond what we'd experienced before. Over the years, we've had seven dogs--five Sheepdogs, a Malamute/Wolf mix, and a Jack Russell/Terrier mix--and successfully trained them all at home without issues, so we are by no means amateurs. However, Artie was a true challenge. We even completed a six‑session training program with another trainer, and on "graduation day," Artie scored a D+. We missed him every day he was away for training, but the daily reports and pictures from Gina made the days bearable and reassured us that he was in great hands. Before Ridgeside K9, he struggled with excessive pulling on walks, jumping, biting, ignoring commands, running to the neighbor's house, and barking for no reason. Under Gina's expert guidance, he now walks calmly on leash, listens attentively, and responds reliably off‑leash--he's truly a new dog, a complete 180 from how he was before training. Gina demonstrated exceptional professionalism, communication, and genuine care throughout the entire process--providing detailed updates and ensuring we had the tools to reinforce his progress at home. Thanks to her dedication, Artie has become a confident, well‑mannered dog, and we wholeheartedly recommend Gina and Ridgeside K9 to anyone seeking effective and compassionate dog training.

I will add that in 2011 I was a very happy member and…read moreheld a membership there for several years, however that management team moved on in the time I left being a member during pregnancy and surgery. I have held off on this review for a VERY long time giving them the benefit of the doubt. The manager turnover is ridiculous. I got swindled by 2 of them who magically didn't work there the next time I went to deal with the lies. The owner is the real problem. He is the biggest liar I have ever encountered, and by encountered I mean emailed. He is never around and never available. Yet his managers can lie and get you into something, say they will fix if you aren't happy, but the owner is the only one who can. If you want to know about this place, visit the BBB. I had to take it there after I was charged for an entire year after I was supposed to be. That contract even only happened because the owner would not get back to his managers to assist in how I was falsely signed up by a manager who was gone 2 weeks later. My lesson from the BBB, you will get no resolution because he will lie over and over and say things you did not say, or use one email where he says he will do one thing and doesn't. There are very similar cases and his responses are all the same. Stay away! It's a franchise and Golds Corporate can't control the fraud.

I got a great rate and have grown fond of many of the employees. Some...not so much. In this environment, you get the true sense of who doesn't particularly like their job. I've noticed that recently there has been equipment issues (especially in the "ladies only" section), missing clocks on the walls, and the staff seems to want to close early, even if only by five minutes, on the weekends. I wish this location was truly open 24/7 or at least had longer weekend hours. I try to squeeze everything in during the daylight hours and then go workout...but they close at 8 p.m.
