As usual I was there on time and I met Liz. The first thing I felt was home and family. The ambience and surrounding keeps you engaged to your workouts. She will focus on your technical abilities and lead you to perfection. Todd and Joe are my other coach. They are motivation machines, that you can get help when you need the most. You can grow with the team. My gym members are friendly and always are willing to do workout as a team. This also helped me more than regular gyms where you are isolated from the rest. One more good thing about Crossfit become is, "We have different workouts everyday". Liz also takes Power Yoga classes twice a week which is amazing. After my 6 weeks training, i was addicted to crossfit and enrolled as a monthly member and I'm still a part of the family. Thank you Crossfit Become to help me achieve more than I expected.

For the record, 3 stars on Yelp means "A-OK" - which is how I felt after attending my free…read moreintroductory session here. It was ok. I've been doing xfit off-and-on for about 5 years and have been to some very good boxes, however, I found Xfit Become to be unfulfilling in a few ways: 1) The crowd was uninspiring - I went at 5:30 PM and was surprised to find the crowd was mostly out-of-shape, middle-aged moms, and a few older guys. Now, I'm not ripped or anything, but in my experience, other xfit boxes tend to attract competitive Athletes and servicemembers. Instead, the atmosphere was decidedly less competitive and elite, and there was a noticeable lack of Athletic ability and fitness among the attendees. I love working out with guys who ARE ripped - it's inspiring. But at Xfit Become, I was disappointed. It honestly felt more like a Mommy Aerobics class than xfit. They were welcoming, though, and even included an icebreaker to introduce everyone - so some might find this the right culture for them. 2) The program was not intense and lacked strength straining - I'm not sure if this was a special class or what, but there was no weight lifting. Also, the warmup was surprisingly weak compared to other boxes I've been to (where the warmup is practically a workout on its own). Several of us stood around a lot without anything to do during the pistol technique practice time, which literally nobody in the class was fit enough to do a single pistol, by the way. The Metcon itself included *only* HSP's and Pistols - which meant that muscle fatigue set in long before any real elevated, sustained heart rate could be achieved. Normally these kinds of Metcons are broken up with jogs in between the rounds...By the end of the class, I was shocked to find that for the first time in my Xfit career, I finished a metcon (and the entire class) without breaking a sweat. 3) The instructor - As this was my first class, I was surprised that the instructor ignored me. I'm experienced, but I still expected some attention, at least in terms of evaluating my ability/technique, pushing me to do more, etc. But she ignored me entirely! She was active with the other members, though. Maybe she thought I didn't need/want attention? I left the class feeling neglected and that I wouldn't get the push and discipline I would need to maintain my motivation and push myself. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but also didn't really feel like xfit.

I cannot say enough superlative things about this gym. I started CrossFit (and for that matter,…read moreserious training in general) roughly 4 months ago, at 54, and found not only an excellent and practical workout that met me at my somewhat limited level of fitness, but that has already considerably helped my overall strength and mobility. Jara MacDermott, specifically, is an outstanding trainer and coach. She strikes an ideal balance between meeting clients where they are, while knowing when and how to thoughtfully push them toward becoming both physically stronger and more confident. The gym that she has created reflects, I think, her character perfectly: a place that offers challenges, kindness, inclusion, and fun.

To start the members at the gym are incredibly supportive and are constantly working to build one another up. Many make plans to spend time with one another outside of the gym, and encourage members to live active and healthy lives. I am not originally from the Montgomery County area and the gym has given me greater sense of community. You want an insanely good workout that is fun and gives you a sense of accomplishment?! You will absolutely get it here. I have always considered myself an athlete, but my first Crossfit workout at the gym was an eye opener. You will be pushed to your limits and beyond. The coaching staff are incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. They are willing to put in the extra time to help you improve and are constantly walking around checking form. The last thing they want is for someone to injure themselves. If for some reason you do have an injury or movements that are difficult for you to do they will take the time to help alter workouts for you, or give you other options. One of the things I love most about the gym is the wide range of age groups. We have members that are in their early 20s to members in their 60s. It's fun to work out with such a huge range of people and see everyone improving regardless of where they started. This place is my second home. I can't imagine my week without it and the people that make up the community.

I've received two emails from the owner of Warriorfit telling me that "he's sorry I didn't grasp…read morewhat they do," basically putting me down instead of truly taking in and using my criticism constructively. I didn't respond. He also said I was expecting a Crossfit workout. Nope. I don't do Crossfit, I disagree with a lot of what Crossfit does, especially since it's injury rate is so high. And I certainly wasn't expecting a Crossfit workout when I tried Warriorfit. However, pretty much everyone in the fitness industry is doing some variation of metabolic conditioning -- whether it's bootcamp style, Crossfit or something else. And I know what metabolic conditioning is, because I've trained with some of the best in the industry. Warriorfit is, indeed, practicing metabolic conditioning. Sending repeated emails telling me I didn't "get it" shows a real lack of class, so I'm sticking with my two stars. And that's generous. I'm doing so because I think Warriorfit's intention is to help people and because it probably does help some people. I just don't think it's the most effective way to do so and I see lots of room for improvement in the coaches' technique, methodologies, and now business practices and just plain manners. And, despite the owner comment posted below, not one of the people in my class was there for martial arts instruction. They weren't martial artists. They were there for general fitness and conditioning. His martial arts instruction was the best part of the workout, but it was a SMALL part of the workout and probably what Warriorfit should stick to teaching. Problem is there is more demand for general classes. As for my "qualifications," 1.) I'm pretty sure I do not need to be qualified as a consumer of such services. This should tell you what the tone of his messages to me was really like. And 2.) I will be earning my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist cert, which is more than what any of the instructors there has. Yuck, yuck, and yuck. *Postscript: This guy just can't take criticism (like a man, or like a woman) and use it to improve. It's obvious from the ongoing back and forth. It's also pretty obvious how many of friends he's gotten to write reviews since I posted mine. Ugh. Who has the time for this? Again, just because you've practiced martial arts does not mean you should be teaching general fitness classes, especially if you are unlicensed and uninsured. But, hey, the liability is yours to assume. Good luck with that.

Lets Go Warriors! I…read morewas honestly skeptical to use this place because I have a slight anxiety disorder and do not like big classes. BUT this class works for me! Everyone one is class is nice and encouraging, as we are all just trying to make ourselves better. I am going on my fourth week, and I am sure that if I go for 2 more months I will reach my goal. I love the fact that they offer 7 & 8 oclock classes Monday through Thursday and 7 pm classes on Friday. I work late shift at work and do not get off until 6 pm, and was afraid I would be stuck in traffic and not make it to class ontime, but I have made it early since the day I started. My first week was brutal. I was injured, back and shoulder, and could not do all of the moves or even move as fast but the instructor for the day David- gave me alternatives and stretches so that I could get well soon. I no longer have the injuries. The classes are very upbeat, you are constantly moving and challenging yourself. The instructor often says " Just dont stop, I dont care if you move slow, Just KEEP MOVING"! I love that they are motivating and really want you to work for it. Class always starts off with a ten minute run. I havent mastered my breathing yet so this is horrible for me, but I at least try to get through it every time. Each class is different. Some days there are different stations where the instructor will have you do different moves. There are days where we are all about the punching back and we are kicking and punching for a good 20 plus mintues. There are days when we are outside on the field running up and down the field, squatting up and down the field, lunging, bear crawling, and all of the above. Im allergic to class and after a bad reaction to an outdoor session I go to the later class so I do have red bumps on my arms the next day at work :(. There is always stretching, and always abs. I like the fact that they target your whole body and dont forget about the booty, abs or back :) Overall Warriorfit is def worth giving a try, if you dont end up loving it at least you tried something new. I love it after 3 weeks, I actually did two sessions yesterday so that I didnt have to work out on Friday- and I felt great after doing it. Lots of sweat but lots of smiles today I got a great deal on Amazon Local $20 for a month of unlimited classes, I def want to get a membership for the rest of summer. Great promotion! By the time you finish this class you will def feel like a warrior!
