I've been a member for 5 years now, and since then it's moved to much larger facilities and has added a significant amount more equipment. it's very COVID friendly and the workouts are constantly varied. It has Crossfit Workouts of the Day (WODs), weightlifing sessions and open gym period to work on your weaknesses. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Come by for a free session and talk to the helpful coaches.

Designated workout areas. Mops along walls with disinfectant to clean floors. COVID aware and taking all of the precautions.

How they modify the exercises for ALL members is the best part. For me, they give me suggestions to make them more challenging. For others, they'll have them lower the weights and do lower impact exercises to accommodate injuries and level of experience. Every workout is different, which keeps things interesting. The program is motivating and I can honestly say I get in just as good of a workout in 45 minutes here as I would in 1.5 hours on my own in a weight room. It's fast paced, but doable for everyone. The space itself is organized and clean. The members I've met are all friendly and the coaches are encouraging. This isn't an in-your-face bootcamp style gym. No intimidation tactics here! I can't recommend Foundry Fitness enough to anyone who wants to change up their boring, old workout routine or needs an extra kick in the butt.

To start the members at the gym are incredibly supportive and are constantly working to build one another up. Many make plans to spend time with one another outside of the gym, and encourage members to live active and healthy lives. I am not originally from the Montgomery County area and the gym has given me greater sense of community. You want an insanely good workout that is fun and gives you a sense of accomplishment?! You will absolutely get it here. I have always considered myself an athlete, but my first Crossfit workout at the gym was an eye opener. You will be pushed to your limits and beyond. The coaching staff are incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. They are willing to put in the extra time to help you improve and are constantly walking around checking form. The last thing they want is for someone to injure themselves. If for some reason you do have an injury or movements that are difficult for you to do they will take the time to help alter workouts for you, or give you other options. One of the things I love most about the gym is the wide range of age groups. We have members that are in their early 20s to members in their 60s. It's fun to work out with such a huge range of people and see everyone improving regardless of where they started. This place is my second home. I can't imagine my week without it and the people that make up the community.

When I moved to…read moreMaryland, I started my membership back up after a few year break hoping I'd get back into it. Sadly though the studio was farther and my schedule didn't line up. When my card expired, I told them to pause or cancel, figuring they couldn't charge so I was done for now. But the they called and said I owe for the month my card expired *and* the next month because of a 30-day cancellation policy--plus they threatened collections if I didn't come in to pay and cancel officially. Yes, I should've canceled sooner and I bet they have contracts and policies. But after years of being such a loyal advocate telling everyone how great it is and loving it myself , I would have appreciated a little flexibility. Maybe paying only one month when I was ready to cancel and bending the rule for me. I know they can they have specials all the time. Instead, they wouldn't budge, leaving a bad taste after so many positive experiences. If you're thinking of canceling, don't wait--do it right away or you'll pay for extra months. It's disappointing that a company I once loved would treat a loyal customer this way. Sadly, I don't think I'll be going back to this location if I ever want to go back.

Sounds like I'm not the only one to say beware of extra charges according to other reviews…read more I was visiting from another location and used one of my passes to take a class at this location. I am aware that my location is typically lower on pricing so there could be an up-charge, however, I am used to being notified of any charges that I would occur when I am checking in to a new location for the first time. The front desk person was cheerful, however, when she asked me for a credit card to just keep on file there was no mention of any charges I would incur and said no charges would be made, it was just to ensure a card was on file for future use. Apparently future used meant immediately after my class without notification. I don't remember who the coach was, but she was just OK. I understand most OT classes these days don't typically use the rower as much as they used to or at least that's what it seems. I always like to start on the tread or rower to get my heart rate up and get the most bang for my buck out of my OT workout. I don't know why they have you start on a rower or only to mention that you will be getting off a minute or two later and starting on the floor. It would be nice to know that when you sign up for your starting position before class starts. Once I noticed this, I mentioned I would prefer to switch to the tread, but the coach told me to proceed with the group I signed with and to go to the floor even though they were open treads. I've always had rather good experiences at any location I've been to as I travel a lot and like to check out gyms in other locations... So I will say this was a first to be disappointed by OT. If you're local, I'm sure it's fine... If you're traveling, I would maybe try a different location or at least beware that you will probably be charged without notification for whatever they decide that day.

The focus here is on kettlebells and body weight movements, mostly. Mike is one of the best kettlebell trainers in the world, with years of KB training experience plus many more years of martial arts training on top of that. Over time, Mike has gradually shifted the focus to everyone training smartly, training for longevity. If you are pushed so hard that you are too sore to work out for a few days, or if you end up injured, well that's not really a productive program. Mike is constantly learning, studying, working to improve the training protocols to help us all get/stay fit for the long term, without injury. He WILL tell you to use less weight, or a slightly "easier" protocol, if he sees that is what YOU need on that particular day. He'll also push you to improve something in every single workout - a better time, more poundage moved, more rounds completed - something! He is a stickler for solid technique and makes sure you are using good/correct form - again, it's all about longevity, and avoiding injury. I love it here, and highly recommend trying it out.

When I lived in Miami, I was a regular, going 4-5 times a week, and I kept up a solid 3-4 days when I first moved back to Maryland. But then life happened (bad weather, school cancellations, and kids getting sick). Going to OTF became a burden. Not because I did not want to or did not enjoy the class ; because between the 8 hour cancellation minimum, grace period and full classes; it was become too much. I've been hit with multiple last-minute cancellation fees, and the final straw was being turned away exactly at the 5-minute grace period. It's incredibly frustrating to see these strict rules enforced selectively while they are bent for others. The lack of flexibility and the unfriendly attitude from some of the staff made it impossible to stay. Now, I'm stuck paying for a 12-month contract until May, despite not stepping foot in the studio since December. That's six months of payments for a service I don't use because the manager refused to offer any compromise. If you need a workout that fits into a busy life without the added stress, learn from my experience and DO NOT sign up for a contract there.
