DO NOT USE THEM!!!! The first time we used this company a few years back was to move my grandmother from her home and they were great! The 2nd time we used them it was a different crew and we are very sorry we ever called them!!!!!!! Here is a rundown of all the crap that happened that day. First off they did not send a big enough truck and not enough help even though we warned them we lived in a big house with a huge shop. they finally called in help and all they did was complain about all the stuff we had. When their truck was full they told me sorry the rest of the stuff in your house is on you to move because we have another job tomorrow. I was beyond angry and their boss was like sorry their truck is full. THE 2ND ISSUE THE ONE I AM MOST ANGRY ABOUT IS ONE OF THEM STOLE $60 DOLLARS OUT OF MY PURSE. THE 3RD ISSUE IS AFTER THEY UNPACKED US WE ENDED UP MISSING ITEMS SUCH AS A $400 STEREO , SHELVES TO 2 DIFFERENT BOOK CASES AND A FEW OF MY DADS TOOLS. Cross Town made promises that they didn't deliver, both for our moving and for the promised repairs for the damages. We will not use them again. And I will not recommend anyone to use them either. I had called around to find out the price and the staff attitude before hiring Cross Town. Their staff were super sweet and followed up after the call, showing eagerness to earn our business. We picked them although they are not the cheapest. But that was a huge mistake. Cross Town also helped the seller move out of the house which we bought. They caused multiple scratches on the walls, a good-size of chip on the stair case, and several noticeable dents on the stairs railing. They promised to fix it to our satisfaction, but the tone on the phone changed from sweet to annoyed. After they used the paint left by the seller to touch up the scratches, the color turned out to be somewhat different. They are only willing to paint the walls they damaged, despite the fact that the wall next to the damaged walls will have a different color. This means we would have to paint the rest of the walls ourselves. This would not have happened if they did not cause the damages, so it should be their job to make the walls look uniform. On top of that, they screwed up our moving schedule. I had called to schedule our moving, but they didn't show up at the scheduled time. After 30 minutes, I called, and they said they can't see that we were scheduled. I had to get to work that day but because of their screw up, I lost an hour of my work time because I was waiting for them to show up. We are still in the process of having them fix the damages. Beginning from the time I called to let them know about the damages, they were no longer friendly. Zero stars for this company for sure. To move from Salem to Dallas for 1 bedtoom 1 livingroom 1 dining room with a hutch 2 curio cabinets 2 tvs and 10 large boxes 1 large bronze statue. 13 + hrs (ridiculous!!!!!) totally scammed. At 6 pm company supervisor called and wanted to know what was taking so long. Well if these guys were professional movers they sure did not act like it. The company sent 2 more men to help (the original 2 movers) because half my stuff was still not moved . Of course, I had no choice, I had to leave my rental and pay extra. The first 2 were so slow and they did not even know how to load the truck to maximize space. When they got to the new place, my husband had to help them put up ramps and help them with direct route into front door (they wanted to go ass backwards thru garage and in winding halls instead of going up 3 steps directly thru front door in to main rooms. Then they claimed they could not carry a piece of furniture up stairs it would not fit. When the second set of men came to help they brought it right up stairs. Sounds like these FIRST 2 were real pros. I would like to say the second set of men were professional and moved the rest very quickly when they arrived, but that wasn't till 8 pm in the evening. I even heard the second set of men say to the first group what would you do if we did not come here to help. He told them if the boss found out that would be their last day. The tall moving man which was a vegan (I know this because I bought dinner for them all and he just wanted orange juice. I also bought lunch for the original 2 as well. If the company would have sent the 2nd set of movers to do this job I would have been done in 4 to 6 hrs tops. In stead I am stuck with over 2000 dollars in the move and a broken glass on my antique hutch which they still have not compensated me for. The company needs to take responsibility for hiring incompetent men. The consumer should not have to pay for incompetency. After numerous emails and waiting for responses I get a letter in the mail that not monetary compensation will be made and they still have not addressed my broken glass. Think again before you call them. All the good reviews you read must be from the 2nd set of movers they sent( the tall vegan guy, sorry I cant remember his name. ). If you get the original 2 guys we got, cancel the move or expect 2000 dollars or more in fees, Clearly they were in experienced . Based on a move in Feb 2016: Use with caution I called and got a phone estimate, going through everything in my home that needed to be moved. I was quoted about 6 hours, possibly less. It took the movers over 8 hours. I had moved with a different moving company a few years prior with the exact same stuff and it took them 5 hours. The only thing added this move was a couch and a chair. Also, I had already moved almost all of the boxes and other stuff that were in my garage myself, so there were less boxes then quoted. They had stated that there would be plenty of wardrobe boxes available for my clothes. They had 3 and one of those was not usable. Therefore I had to hastily pack clothes that would not fit in the 2 available boxes. After they were done loading my house, they went to take a lunch break (supposedly not on my dime). I happened to go back upstairs which was supposedly empty and they forgot my bed frames. I called the office but got no answer. Then someone called back and said "luckily he realized my number was a number where they were moving". So he called the guys to come back and get them, then they went on to their lunch. I will say that the 2 guys were friendly, professional and worked hard. Just really disappointed in the amount of time it took. Think that was unreasonable. read more

I called Cross Town for a move because I had had success with this company previously. I made an appointment for an estimate, and Max did come out at the appointed hour. However, his walk through the house was cursory at best, and his responses to my questions were limited. He did not offer any information as required by ODOT, told me it would be 3 men and 1 truck and asked if it would be okay to email an estimate. I said that would be fine, but when, after a week, no estimate arrived, I called the office and was connected to Max who said he was just working on it and would have it in a half an hour. A while later, a letterhead statement arrived with one sentence stating I would need 5 men and 2 trucks for my move and quoted me the standard ODOT rate. That was it. No further information, no particulars of any kind. It was pretty clear that he had forgotten about the estimate altogether and when called out on it just threw something together which in no way aligned with what had been stated at the original meeting. I went with another company. One star for having shown up on time for the estimate which was not an estimate. read more

This was the most costly move I have ever made when it comes to damage. It took them 5 days to move me from Coos Bay to Winston. I am absolutely convinced had Nat not been loaded on Pot 90% of the time and wasting packing materials thing would have went much better. Then I asked if he was straight enough to drive and he said Oh Yes. What he packed was had a lot of Damage and I am still finding damage months later. Recently I needed to help my elderly mom move from her house of 25+ years on the Oregon Coast 2000 miles away to her hometown in Iowa. The coast is a difficult place to find help with nearly anything, and there were no "local" moving companies. I contacted several interstate moving companies, but only a few even returned my calls, fewer still were willing to make the drive out to do an estimate. Brendan from Crosstown (Bekins) was always the most helpful person to speak to, and although his estimate was slightly higher than the competition, I felt his estimate was much more accurate. He walked me and my mom through every step of the process, always staying in touch and giving helpful information. When moving time came, the packing crew was amazing. The way they tackled the bursting-at-the-seams closets and cabinets in record time was nothing short of a miracle. AND they were personable, friendly and very professional. My Mom was totally stressed by the idea of moving, but the packers definitely helped ease her mind. The next day, our driver "Ken" handled the loading of everything- including a car- efficiently and carefully. Mom is in her new house now, surrounded by all of her carefully delivered precious belongings, and our final cost of the move came in below estimate- ultimately costing us less than the competition had estimated. Just to give you an idea of how accurate my review is, I worked many years for North American Van Lines, and as an "insider" I cannot praise Crosstown- and especially Brendan - enough. read more

I can't believe these folks are not 5 stars. They were amazing. I called companies in Corvallis and Eugene and they were the most customer friendly and incredibly gracious. I spoke with Chris who answered the phone and referred me to Gordon. Gordon took my information over the phone. Gordon's bid over the phone on a 3 bedroom home that had been lived in for 40 years -was was within $7 for a move 150 miles to a new home!(I accidentally gave Gordon the wrong address at first and he just chuckled)Amazing. I called Chris with questions the morning of the move and he eased my anxiety. David and Joe were the movers they were exceptional. They took such care of family items and provided me with such a sense of trust. David and Joe were fast ,efficient obviously experienced and worked well together. David even had tips about unpacking. I hope this is the last move however if for some reason it's not cross town will be my first call! The reviews less than 5 stars hard for me to believe based on my experience! Thank you Cross Town. The absolute WORST moving company I have ever used! I have hired professional movers eight times for both local and cross country relocations. The sales rep refused to provide us with a written estimate in advance of our move date, even after four separate requests from both my wife and I. When the crew showed up the day of our move they only sent two crew members when we were promised three. The first thing the guys said when they walked into the house is they did not bring enough mirror packs and special wrap for our artwork. They then proceeded to bash the sales rep and said it was a common occurrence that the sale rep underestimated jobs and avoided providing written estimates. It only got worse from there. They told us they would be finished and loaded in 5 to 6 hours - it took close to 11 hours. Several of our art pieces were damaged due to poor packing, etc. etc. I could go on and on. I can't get a response from the newly assigned rep regarding our damage claims. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs. read more

STAY AWAY!!! I have moved many times in my life, and this was hands-down the WORST moving experience ever!! I'll start with the worst part - they STOLE from me!! Without specifics.... suffice it to say, you cannot "just misplace" these items (yes, more than one!). These things are large and can't "just be misplaced" (as they claimed") He actually ASKED me if I "wanted them"... then I realized later, he TOOK THEM ANYWAY! And, more! I discovered the missing items over the couple weeks that followed my move - as I needed them and found them missing. These items were expensive and could easily be resold for a nice dollar (which is I'm sure is what they did). Aside from stealing, they were also 45 minutes late arriving and were SLOOOW when loading / unloading (yes, paid by the hour). They were unprofessional, and bragging about what great movers they were - NOT!!! I even told them so, hoping it would encourage improvement.... It did not. I would NEVER use this company, and fear for anyone who does. Part of this is my own fault for not inspecting their trucks (I had 2 trucks) at the end of the move. They did not offer, and I did not think to ask. MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS, WHOEVER YOU USE!!! Any reputable company does this. Upon realizing the severity of what was done, I reported this to the owner, and he was ambivalent. Even dealing with his staff regarding this was unpleasant.. they were rude and unresponsive. This is so maddening - to have someone you hire, and PAY - violate you in this way, right under your nose. They are pro's - at this part - so Be Warned!! Use a professional moving company, who is insured, properly licensed (not using hired help), and NOT paid by the hour. Pay the extra couple hundred dollars - you will be thankful you did. I put one star because there is no other choice. I trusted Daniel Balcom and his co-worker Danny with my belongings. I tipped them $100 a day for 2 days. I gave Danny a recurve bow and a target with arrows. All new, and one of my old rangefinders. The neighbors told me after I left our old residence for the new, she saw them outside going through all my hunting clothes I had stored in my shed. I came up missing a set of Leupold Cascades binoculars. $330 worth, and my brand new, still in the box $300 Cabelas tent. Also some arrows and other assorted small camping and hunting items. They mistook my kindness for thinking I would not be intelligent enough to notice they had stolen from me. After all the good I did for them, because I know how hard it is to feed a family these days. They treat me like dirt. JESUS says to, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." And if someone steals your shirt you are to give them your cloak also. I treated Daniel Balcom and Danny with respect, and how I would want to be treated. So, Daniel and Danny come on over, I have a couple of cloaks for you also.
