I hesitated because I wouldn't be there to ensure things were properly packed, and many of the items were highly sentimental to me. The Zippy Shell rep assured me that these movers were professionals and that they would wrap and cushion everything for the cross-country drive. They only wrapped a handful of items, and just loosely and partially, with a single layer of paper. Nothing was cushioned at all. Zero plastic or bubble wrap or moving blankets. Everything was tossed carelessly into the pod as if it were a dumpster headed for the landfill. Unsurprisingly, everything arrived scratched, beat up, scuffed and dirty. They broke a cabinet, which completely collapsed en route. This crushed everything inside and scattered contents around the filthy floor, including the stereo which was somehow not wrapped. What kind of mover doesn't wrap a stereo for transport?? Everything had been in like-new condition prior to the move, or I wouldn't have paid to store it in a clean, climate-controlled storage unit for five years, additionally paying Zippy Shell $4,000 to have it shipped to me. I wouldn't recommend this company unless you're shipping old tires or anything that can't possibly be damaged. My money basically went to having my things destroyed. I've moved many times in my life and have never had such a devastating experience. Btw, they must be paying Yelp to hide their one-star reviews, of which there are HUNDREDS. As a Yelp Elite reviewer with mostly five-star reviews, I can attest that this was my honest experience. It is VERY DIFFICULT to earn a one-star review from me.

The two movers worked hard to meet that request, including figuring out a useful solution for us (unloading some things into the garage instead of putting everything in the house, which helped us meet our goal). The driveway is very steep, and initially Phil thought said could cut it in half with a ramp out of the side of the truck. His time estimate was based on that idea, but it turned out we couldn't use the ramp, so the movers had to work harder than anticipated. They still made it happen, though -- it was more work than they expected going into the job, but they were very kind about it.

You have to arrange your own storage and they are poor estimators of how much you will need. They hauled my Mercedes SUV on the truck and it hasn't been functioning properly since. Should have used a car delivery service. Also very expensive and quote was very low. Took multiple requests to get a receipt to submit to my new employer for reimbursement and it is bare bones. In a nutshell, though they seem friendly, it was the worst move of my life and I've moved 7 times as an adult. If I had read a review such as mine, I wouldn't have used them. Perhaps they've gone down in service. They definitely shouldn't have accepted my job though with needing to move into storage. Lesson learned. Good luck on your move!

We had to reschedule the move a couple of times due to delays with renovations at the new house and they were always super flexible and accommodating. I loved supporting a family-run business that is owned by two great people. The movers arrived on time and were very friendly. They packed everything into their truck with care and did not cause any damage to our furniture. They even reassembled a couple of things that they had to take apart to get them through the door. The guys were all very friendly and had a great sense of humor. Trevor played music on his phone while moving which made the whole thing even better because he has great taste! The move as a whole cost just over $1k, using one truck and three guys over about four hours. I paid using card when they were done and got right to settling in because they had put everything in the right rooms and the right locations. They also broke an IKEA tv stand, broke the key off in the lock and the door won't sit flush now. Also I watched them scrape the drywall tf up and lie to my face about it (the chubby guy) Billed for three hours when they worked for two, and over 25% of the time billed was actually only two guys. I will be filing a dispute with my credit card unless Katie can reimburse the damaged item and damage to interior apartment. Then it's between you and Amex (they've never lost a dispute for me)
