Don't use if it's long haul going into storage. Maybe ok for short hauls but in general I would avoid them. Packed items poorly in storage resulting in significant damage to furniture. You have to arrange your own storage and they are poor estimators of how much you will need. They hauled my Mercedes SUV on the truck and it hasn't been functioning properly since. Should have used a car delivery service. Also very expensive and quote was very low. Took multiple requests to get a receipt to submit to my new employer for reimbursement and it is bare bones. In a nutshell, though they seem friendly, it was the worst move of my life and I've moved 7 times as an adult. If I had read a review such as mine, I wouldn't have used them. Perhaps they've gone down in service. They definitely shouldn't have accepted my job though with needing to move into storage. Lesson learned. Good luck on your move! read more

Wish we had seen these reviews before we fell for the lies this company peddled. They seriously under quoted us..by thousands of dollars. The first truck never showed up so we were delayed by 24 hours ... Then when the truck actually did show up they had sent the wrong inventory list to the moving compNy that was sub contracted to do the move...that company didn't have enough space on the truck because it had another customers items on it so they put our stuff in storage in the next town over and THEN demanded another $5k or they wouldn't come back and finish the job. read more

I'm going to start off with a 5-star review and if everything works (as I expect it to) and things are in good condition after I get chance to go through them, I'll keep it this way. I got 3 people over for help for a recent move. I had already made 2 trips of a 20' u-haul already, but had lots of large items -- washer/dryer, huge china hutch, bed, dressers, recliners, a piano, and a bunch of outside furniture and play structures that I wanted help with. 1 guy was 15 minutes late, but it took 15 minutes to get their truck set up and do a quick walkthrough anyway. The team moved quickly. They had a sense of urgency to get the truck filled. It made me feel like I was getting good value for the time they spent. I didn't have them pack much, but they did wrap some glass shelves and some furniture pieces so they could be moved safely. Additionally, they took the door off of the frame as well as removed the doors to the fridge or else it wouldn't have fit. It took a while, but they did it much faster than I could. They didn't put the door back on the frame, but they did put the fridge doors back on after they moved it. They got everything out of the back yard into the front yard to be loaded as well. It ended up taking 2 trips. The items outside wouldn't fit, so a 2nd truck full was needed. They unloaded things very quickly as well. I waan't around for the unloading, but my fiance was. She told them where she wanted things and a couple times they only partially moved things (didn't get them where they needed to be in the room). She mentioned it to them and they moved things to where she wanted them. They had to get items up stairs at the new house. It should be noted that they can't wear shoe covers (it is a slipping hazard for them), so they had to wear shoes upstairs where my family and I have decided we won't. The carpets look okay, but in bad weather it is something to be aware of. Overall, I was impressed with Emerald Movers. They were motivated to work quickly and took the steps necessary to move things safely and were well versed on things like refrigerator door removal. They got a lot accomplished in the 5-3/4 hours I had them. It cost over $1,000, but it would have taken my friends and family much, much longer and we would have been wiped out more than we already were from the rest of the moving and cleaning. Definitely worth the money and I would hire them again if I ever needed to move (and we'll cross our fingers this is my last ever move). read more

Let's start off this review with a couple of positives: - The loading crew itself was attentive and did all that was asked. The crew understood our time constraints (unlike management, as you will see in the following). - The crew did what they could, saved the experience, and deserve 1.5 of the 2.0 stars given. Now, on with the painful negatives that should have you ask yourself if you ever want to work with this firm: - My wife reserved the job date and time months before our requested appointment for two loaders and a packer. My wife was assured of the appointment via an email confirmation from Emerald's system. Three days prior, my wife called Emerald's phone contact (assumedly the scheduler/dispatcher), who assured my wife that we were on the books for the requested date and time that would happen just over 72 hours after the call. - By now, you probably have guessed that Emerald's system failed miserably. Imagine yourself in our scenario with several key moving (no pun intended) pieces that had to rely upon the loading of our U-Pack 26-foot trailer. My wife and I were up early on appointment day and had our trailer ready in time for the 9 am appointment. At 9:30, we called Emerald and were told that they had us on their schedule for a week later than our confirmed appointment. To save you from longer details, we called several times throughout the day and were provided placating information that had us getting angrier and more concerned as the day went on. Suffice it to say, after the last assurance that the crew would be to us by 2:30 pm, we saw the three guys show up at 4 pm. That's seven hours after the time that was needed by us to work the other parts of our plan. - Moving is stressful. We can agree on that. The dispatcher contact provided very little compassion for our situation and seemed to never really give us realistic information. She did finally provide us with a token discount offer that was insulting in terms of our ultimate pain, inconvenience and solution. - Fortunately for us, we had arranged for a local friend who had a twenty-foot cargo trailer that pulls behind his pickup. He did show up on time. In fact, he is the reason that we were able to complete our move, as he took a much larger portion of the load than we anticipated. Good guy with a lot of heart. - Is today's work world challenged by a shortage of workers for certain industries? Sure. I would think that Emerald would take in to account the order demand and available staffing as part of their scheduling. Clearly, they need to tighten up the operations. If that means turning down some work, maybe that's not such a bad solution for their long-term success. - While we waited for the long-overdue crew, my wife and I did a portion of the job (that we had hoped to avoid) just so the crew could finish before dark and we could get our pre-arranged U-Pack trailer on the way at the scheduled time. You will see in the accompanying photo that we took what was to be a three or four hour job and enabled the hard-working crew to complete their portion in two hours. In summary, this situation made a stressful process even more challenging. Our minds were racing with thoughts about the possibility of no crew even showing up to take our belongings that were load-ready in every shape and form. The solution did happen, but not without us wondering how we would move all of our belongings back in to the house as a necessity for finding an alternative solution. This is a caution for you to consider very carefully how comfortable you are with enduring an experience such as ours. Nobody likes to move. Companies such as Emerald should do what it takes to make moving even slightly less painful. read more

Emerald helped me move earlier this year, and I had a great experience. I needed moving services on short notice, and they were able to fit me into their schedule after some back and forth. They showed up on time at my previous 1b/1b and had us loaded in the truck in 2 hours, and had us unpacked at our new apartment across town in under 5 hours total. Nothing was broken; service was friendly and painless. I especially appreciated the movers breaking down the total cost for me before they began, so no fees were hidden. We hired Emerald to move us from the southern Oregon coast to the Dallas, Oregon area. Sandy was very helpful in scheduling the move, explaining the costs and the logistics. Sawyer, Zach, David and Sam were great. The crew was courteous, friendly, efficient and very competent. They packed, wrapped, disassembled, assembled, secured, etc. better than you could hope for. They moved large and awkward items easily. And they did it for significantly less than the other companies I got estimates from. I scheduled my move a month in advance and confirmed the appointment the day before. Scott and Matt arrived exactly on time and were ready to load up immediately. They were both kind, respectful, and friendly. They had my office loaded and moved in three hours. It felt very relieving to have fast, efficient, and skilled workers take over the difficult job. When the actual movers arrived they charged me 50% more and insisted I make out the cashier's check to them, causing delay and distress. My belongings have now been sitting in storage for 2 weeks with the flyby night company that they hired, and there is nothing they will do about it, even though they promised me a delivery of between 10 and 14 days. The moving experience was great. I am from out of state and arrived in Eugene the day before the move, and so naturally was concerned I was moving my mothers belonging from an apartment unit to storage, with a lot of stuff to be thrown out at a dump. The movers arrived on time and did a superb job. They were polite and considerate, worked quickly but carefully and were very organized. The stuff to be dumped out i had mostly put into open 30-gallon bags with a lot left on counters or on shelves. They cleanered all of this out and loaded it on the truck. Next was the furniture we were keeping which was carefully placed in the truck. They then took drove the furniture to the storage facility which they unloaded and organized in the storage unit with a lot of care and consideration . Scheduled a time for them to pick up and deliver, when I called to tell them that that date would not work, I was told that the next day would be fine. However, they showed up a day early and shoved all the clothes hap hazardly into a box and also packed a bag of trash. When they delivered they shoved everything into the room and left. My daughter used this service for a move from San Antonio Tx to Alabama and all I can say is RUN!! They were super helpful at first and made everything sound great. The price was good, veterans discount, promises of delivery dates, climate control storage etc. She paid the deposit and signed the contract, it was pretty much downhill from there. The 3rd party that Emerald Moving Logistics contracted were 2 days late picking up her stuff and charged her $400 more than she was expecting to pay. They were however very careful and fast in loading everything. It was my daughter's understanding that her belongings were to be delivered on a certain date and would be kept in a climate controlled environment until delivery which was to be 1 month while she was waiting on an apartment to become available. The date of delivery came and went, no delivery. After contacting EML she was told that the contracted moving company had 30 days to deliver her belongings per the signed contract so please read carefully. Delivery was made almost 3 weeks after date expected and the driver was given the wrong address. The driver did finally arrive at the correct address but he was by himself. He was told there would be 2 people hired to help him unload at the delivery, no one ever showed to help him. Her contract was for delivery and set up, her apartment was 2 nd floor and she had to help the truck driver unload her belongings and carry them up a flight of stairs. The driver was super nice and apologetic for what happened and hired two guys off the street to help him take in the large things and paid them out of his own pocket. When unpacking she had some things ruined from heat so so much for the climate control! If you want to have a smooth non stressful move I would definitely find a different company to handle it for you, unless you enjoy being totally stressed out and have the pricing change at the drop of a hat. I had recently hired them to move a empty gun safe from one area of my house to another. They showed up with 4 guys (had quoted me 3), put the safe on a furniture pad and dragged it across my house. And caused 4 scratches 5 inches by 1/2 inch wide in my hardwood flooring try to slide it into place. Called them about the damage,,,no call back. Sent email about the issue, no response. I could have paid a few high school students for the level of professionalism and response. I will have to hire a flooring company to repair the floors, and yes will be suing them in small claims court. read more

Bad news here and I am speaking from multiple services. Last June, I needed to move and decided to hire movers. Two guys came over and the lead guy was completely psychotic. He was loud and mean to the other guy that he was working with. He was relatively tolerable the first half of the day but when we got to my new place, he was yelling and screaming and really disturbing the peace. Finally, when all was said and done, you could just tell this guy was so heated and he pretty much expected a tip! Seriously dude? I had a few things stored on site at Emerald and they told me I had to give them a couple days notice before coming to get my stuff. Totally fair. I would give them anywhere between 2 days and a weeks notice and they would never let me get my stuff!! They would tell me that no one was available or it just wasn't a good time etc. Well, finally, I called one week in advance and they had a thousand more excuses. We let them know that this is what you call blackmail(as I still had to pay for it) and they handed it over immediately! Funny. The customer service here is awful, the lady that works the desk is a fruit loop and could never give the right information. I would advise anyone to steer clear of this place. I have used these guys twice now. The first time was in 2013 when I moved From California to Eugene, OR, I had them come out and help me unload my truck. They sent out two guys and we got everything unloaded in a little over an hour. The guys were friendly, professional and took great care with my stuff. The second time was when I moved from Eugene, OR to Vancouver, WA. This time Tan came out and gave me an estimate. On moving day 4 guys showed up on time and loaded the truck. Two guys drove the truck to Vancouver and unloaded. Same professional service as my first experience with them. The final bill came in under the estimate, and I just received a thank you note in the mail from them. I am very pleased with the service from this company, and highly recommend them. read more

These reviews are so wrong! We were ahead of schedule on our move, so we wanted to move our big furniture on a Monday, last minute (we had an appt with another company later in the week). Despite being pretty much fully booked, Emerald Moving was able to get me three movers each with an equipment dolly. They arrived a full hour early, and since I only asked for 2 movers, they only charged me for two. They were quick, efficient, and even had experience with the same model desk and couch that I had. Since it was a short move, I did not have many things boxed, but instead was just taking handfuls of things. They were completely fine with doing that, and helped me with the little stuff, even though I just wanted help with the heavy stuff. Being the only moving company willing to help me on a last minute move, as well as actually being kind, courteous, and punctual, I will certainly recommend this company (and only this company!) to friends and family in the future. read more

We used Emerald Movers for a cross-town move in November 2013 and we were very satisfied with the service. I booked the job over the phone and after giving details of the move (how many rooms, size of the home, etc.) I was told that they would have one driver and one helper come out for 5 hours. I was a little skeptical that that would get the job done. I was told that they could stay longer if needs be, but that the price quoted would increase for every 20 minutes over the scheduled time. I was glad to know this ahead of time but hoped it wouldn't come to that. It didn't. The two guys who came out were fast, respectful (although the helper seemed to have a stomach issue and stopped up the toilet at our old house and new house...but hey, at least he was housebroken and knew how to use a plunger), and took care to lay drop cloths and wall protection. They moved everything in (and a pretty tight staircase) without so much as a scratch - pretty impressive. They assembled beds and helped to neatly place garage items where I asked them to. They took just one break, for about 20 minutes and finished the job in about 4 hours and 52 minutes. At the end of the move-in, the price (about $500) was exactly what I was quoted and had budgeted for. Don't plan on moving again anytime soon but, if/when we do, I'll be calling Emerald again. read more

Not only were several items outright broken (grandmother's china, lampshades, fountain, etc.), but we received about no response from them in reply to two emails and two phone calls. We were told that the owner would be contacted, but haven't heard back in more than a month. This is NOT how to run a moving and storage business! read more

Movers got the job done and were friendly. I am happy about that. There were some issues though. The movers were careless and unthoughtful at multiple points. Boxes were put in odd places, boxes got damaged and so too did the items inside, and other occasions. They shattered a fridge shelf, and not only have I heard nothing back about that in 3 days, but they didn't finish cleaning the glass off the street. Items were left at the old house but nothing was said to me about them. My kitchen garbage can is missing. An entire closet of items was missed. The movers did fulfill a couple of requests of mine and so I am grateful for that. Lady who scheduled the move did not disclose that travel was charged and subsequently what location the movers were leaving to and from. The ABSOLUTE WORST... CRIMINALS. The owners and management are COWARDS. We received furniture here in Scotts Valley, CA from Florence, OR and these guys facilitated the process. Our home is not in a "neighborhood" so first-off, their idiotically sized 18-wheeler couldn't make it to our driveway. That said, a smaller vehicle was needed. They modestly asked if they could borrow our pickup to get the pieces and move them up to the house. Time being of the essence, and on paper, this guy was supposed to be fairly well credentialed when it came to driving - considering he drove a rig, we gave him the benefit of the doubt... ... As it turns out, he passed my wife coming down our hill to the main road at a high rate of speed and crashed into a juniper hedge causing some beautifully placed damage on our front right quarter panel. Upon confronting the man, he became aggressive and stated that "he didn't have to show me his license or his commercial insurance cert." Thinking that this hillbilly might want to earn a ticket to jail and try to drag me with him, I paused, walked back to my home and called the Highway Patrol to come examine him and extract his information for insurance processing (I hope the driver's commercial record shines from that encounter). two hours later, the ordeal was largely over. We were exhausted and angry. Not having gotten to the items delivered, as it turns out the hutch they delivered was damaged and was missing the glass inserts (it's a Drexel hutch, so it's not like Ikea has a replacement part). Now as of today, my insurance company regretfully stated that Emerald was noncompliant, belligerent, and refused to return any insurance information to pay the claim; all the while, they sat on the ignorant and damning statement of "well, uh, he let us use the truck". That's great... that doesn't give you permission to crash it for one; two, how stupid are these people for soiling their reputation and making their ego supreme over their own business - which includes being ethical and kind to the people they SERVE. YES EMERALD, you SERVE US. I haven't been this disappointed in a long, long time. Taking them to court would be the next step. THESE PEOPLE ARE nothing but a bunch of uneducated, rude, condescending, criminal, podunk schmucks. GO ELSEWHERE ... ANYWHERE. Emerald Moving just moved my 110 yr old full upright piano perfectly in a very difficult move. They had to navigate down two flights of outside stairs with a 90 degree turn in the middle then up a short flight at the new house with another 90 degree turn followed by a tight turn into the living room, with a step down in the middle of this. I was extremely impressed with the problem solving and teamwork of the entire group (Tan as lead, Felipe, Scott M, and Anthony). They were cautious and thoughtful, carefully considering how to manage the piano as well as not hurting themselves. Then they took the extra time to position the piano perfectly where I wanted it, in spite of the difficulty of maneuvering into a corner with one wheel replaced by a wooden block. Since I moved to Oregon I have used Emerald Moving and Storage. The majority of time was when I was setting up a home for local transitional women and children. Emerald Moving and Storage, at the same time, volunteered their staff, trucks, time and resources to move women, with our local abused women program, free of charge. So together we were able to get a few families immediately to a safe environment while they could figure out their next move. All at no cost to the women and children. Beyond that experience, they donate much of their goods, time, efforts and equipment to other agencies - because they have a good intention in the community are a local company they can do that! The last time I used their service I moved my daughter's to Phoenix, Arizona. She flew, but her belongings and small dog, named Lilly, were moved by Emerald Moving and Storage. Lilly arrived in Phoenix personally in John's cab. John felt she was a good traveling companion. I see their trucks everywhere in town and never feel like they are unsafe drivers. I also know they hire locally. If Eugene is looking for a local, family operation to take care of their loved ones and belongings, this is the company. My mother had hired these guys to help move my stuff to a home across town. Super friendly, hard working, and very nice. The move itself was very smooth and went great. My mom had also arranged a cleaning service for my old apartment from them as well. (Supposedly a wife of one of the owners who has a cleaning business) They never showed up for the cleaning and when we texted or called, we got no response back. They ended up blocking both our numbers for trying to ask questions. Overall, good movers. I just wouldn't recommend doing any other service from them because management is shady. read more
