We went for a dinner last week, the restaurant close at 10, so we went with our guests. Apparently, the kitchen closed at 8:30, so we have to order in a hurry, they are out of daal, we have to ordered in few choices. We were not sure about our roti order, so we asked to make two more and the owner freaked out and got really rude and angry. We are in USA for last 28 years, this is the first time we have had this type of experience. We are asking all our friends not to go here anymore. We dined at Cross Culture last night, Friday. We very much enjoyed the food. The restaurant was busier than we expected it would be just based on what we see from the sidewalk when we walk by, so that was nice to see! We started with the aloo tikki which came out so fresh. They were delicious! They were fabulously crisp on the outside. The insides reminded me of samosas (yummy) and were spicy. They were even more delicious with the sauces. Highly recommend these. They didn't have the flour for the paratha, so we just had traditional naan. We had plain and garlic. Wow!! When they were placed on the table, they looked delicious, especially the garlic naan which glistened with butter and garlic. They were clearly just out of the oven, and they were amazing. Probably the best freshest most tasty naan I've had. We also had the daal makhani and the malia kofta. These are two of our favorite Indian dishes, and they did not disappoint. I especially enjoyed the malai kofta--the sauce was very nice and the vegetable balls were not mushy, kept their form, and were just fresh and tasty. The noticeable pieces of nuts added a nice texture. While the service was just slightly slow for me, it wasn't painfully slow. Everyone was very attentive and friendly. We'd definitely return. Delicious! We got take out from here before but this is our first dine in experience. We sat on the lovely porch and they were friendly to our little pup who was with us. We got Tandoori Shrimp, Chicken Tikka Masala, na'an and veggie biryani. Some of the best Indian food I have had. The tikka masala sauce is definitely the best I've ever tasted. I'm not an expert on Indian cuisine, but my takeout meal from Cross Culture was excellent. We went for the vegetable samosas, naan bread, chicken tikka masala, and lamb korma. The curry entrees were tasty and well seasoned, with a perfect amount of spice. The samosas and rice were fresh and tasty. This was my first visit to cross culture and I am so glad I stopped by! We went during lunch hours and it was relatively quiet early on. We started off with the veggie samosas, which came with a plum sauce and a mint sauce. I particularly enjoyed the plum sauce it paired very well. I am rewriting my review and dropping it to 1 star. Food is delicious but the one male server, I believe his name is Monty, is one of the rudest people I have ever met. Every time we have come he makes us so uncomfortable, however we preserved and kept coming. Tonight we had to walk out due to him. From the moment we walked in the door his attitude was so off putting. Then about 5 minutes into us being there, he got heated at us for bringing in a bottle of wine as well as a drink for my daughter. We have to bring in a drink for her as she has POTS syndrome and needs constant electrolytes. We will never be back as he is ALWAYS there. read more

Being Indian and having never tried CC for the 15+ years I've been in the area, I thought I'd finally give it a shot. They seem extremely short staffed, but even that is excusable in the restaurant industry these days. The food is what apparently hypes this restaurant up, and it was by far the worst Indian food I have tasted. None of the spices, aroma, or freshness you would expect from true Indian cuisine. One of the best restaurants in Bucks County. My family are Indian food aficionados and have tried pretty much every Indian restaurant with 60 miles of Newtown and found Cross Culture to be the very best. The food is consistently fresh, perfectly cooked, seasoned and always served in very generous portions that allows for delicious next day lunch left overs. We do both take out and eat in and enjoy dining on the porch when the weather's nice out. Also I like that they're BYOB so I can bring higher quality wines from my own cellar and not pay two or three times more than the price I pay from a store. read more

My wife and I eat here often. We really like the food. We also like that the service is always good and the staff is friendly. It is nice sometimes that it is not crowded and that you can go there on a busy Doylestown weekend, and usually find an outside table with no reservation. This is a BYOB which is nice as well. They will cater to your individual tastes so if you like it spicy ask for it spicy. If you like it mild ask for it that way. I like mine spicy and my wife likes hers mild, and they satisfy us both. This place is the real deal for Indian food! Never disappointed with any meal I've had at any location. Service was very nice, but i was obvious they were understaffed. I tried not to focus on the one woman running around to every table. I typically branch out and order something different, but tonight I had to go with my all time favorite, Chicken Tikka Masala. And I was in absolute bliss the rest of the night, as it was a perfect end to a stressful week. Ambiance/Decor/Atmosphere: Quite the fancy, trendy overall orange hue mash up of browns and reds, with wood and brick decoration through the interior. Inside is a little small but elegant looking and point defining that matches up with any statement made when the food hits the table. Noise/sound level: Could be loud depending on music playing or number of guests in the restaurant, but nothing really detracting from your dining experience. Menu: Your typical large Indian fare menu. Covers about all the more familiar types of Indian cuisine one could want. Service: My friend and I ordered tandoori mixed grilled, but the waitress misheard us and brought out only chicken tandoori. The restaurant made up for that by bringing other parts of the mixed grill out at no additional cost (of the tandoori chicken). While that was kind I would have loved the tandoori mixed grill in it's entirety. Otherwise, the wait staff was warm, inviting, knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. Food: Have to be honest; not one piece of food on it's own was amazing, but simply very good. But, once you figured out how to pair the chutneys and sauces with each food item, then the meal became amazing. Certain fruit chutneys were exceptional with samosas, while the mint chutney turned the tandoori items into something otherworldly. For that, the ability to layer flavor over flavor on food and in sauce makes the meal I had at Cross Culture one of the better dining out experiences. Remarkable meal with memorable flavors. Bar: BYOB Price: Not exceptionally over the top, but might be a little on the higher side depending what you order. Overall: Do not be dissuaded by some of the lame one review one star jerk offs negatively speaking about Cross Culture. Again - please consider this review for vegetarians only .. since i have not tried any of the chicken/fish/lamb dishes here.. but i dont have the courage to go here again .. we asked for Indian style navaratan korma - asked the lady to make it spicy-- and all we could taste is red chili powder.. when asked she argued and was very defiant about how we must have not eaten it before, since this was a signature dish of the restaurant for last 13 years.. then we ordered veg biryani - and this was far more than a disaster.. the rice was uncooked- some veggies were scattered and the spice level was so high that we could not go beyond a couple of bites.. the lighting was so dim that you could not tell how the food looked - guess this was the issue while cooking so the cook had no control on the aesthetics or taste of the food. Quaint and tasteful interior with nice ambience fit for any occasion. Dress up or down depending on what you want to make of the experience. Ordered tandoori grill appetizer, coconut based curry with shrimp and egg, and another coconut based curry with a bunch of different vegetables (nava...). The coconut veg curry was delicious especially with a bit of spice..ask for it though. The other curry with shrimp was also tasty, but it was based on the same coconut sauce so expectedly so. The grill app was delicious!..A variety of fish, chicken, shrimp and lamb. I was a little concerned with how our experience would be as several reviews discussed an aggressive owner who imposed on diners' experiences. Happy to report we had no run in with the owner and the servers were modest and on point. Service was friendly enough. There was a new trainee shadowing the server and both were responsive. Disclaimer: being Indian I can be kinda tough on Indian restaurants We stopped by late night on a Saturday. Located on doylestowns Main Street, it was a great place to eat on the porch and people watch. The place was basically empty, so we got to chose our seat outside. The waitstaff was fantastic and always made sure we were happy with the service. The tandoori meats were okay. They were made wonderfully but had no flavor. We ordered a few other dishes, but nothing had any flavor to it. Indian food is usually loaded with tons of spices and sometimes even has a nice kick at the end, but not here. I'm glad I tried out cross culture. But I think I'll be sticking to my usual Indian restaurants. read more

Things always improve after I leave - parties, religion, universities. Such was the case with my home town. Little Doylestown blossomed after I left in the late 80s, and the cutesy eateries are abundant. But to my knowledge, there wasn't a full-fledged Indian joint downtown until about 2 months ago, when Cross Culture opened. They already had a place in nearby Lahaska (tourist trap of Peddlers Village) and imagine my excitement to see the new place right in D-town, in a converted old house right on State Street, with outside dining on the porch! Heaven, right? OK, this is a review of limited scope, because I was only there for lunch. There's no buffet, so you are given the regular menu. There are lunch specials, which is good because otherwise you'd be paying entree prices that would make tonier joints in Philly blush. Even the lunch price of $14 only got you a choice of about 4 dishes, and no appetizer or dessert options. The waitress was kind enough to point out that dishes are prepared fairly bland, and asked if I preferred spicy. Yes my zaftig sweetie, I like food that inflicts. I only wish the chef had believed me, for there was no discernible ouch factor in the chicken tikka masala that was delivered. The chunks of chicken were superior, but a tad overcooked. Which is interesting, because the plain white basmati was undercooked. Put the two together..... Ah well, the price we pay for ambiance. Came in after seeing their lunch menu. Ordered chicken tikka masala lunch which comes with veggie fritters/pakora as an appetizer. Good and their tamarind sauce is very good. The lunch portion is very filling. I can't testify to authenticity, having never traveled abroad, but can say that taste quality is lovely and delicious.
