Fabulous! The young lady running front of the house was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Everything was delicious and ample portions ( we took a little of everything home)! High points... entering the restaurant and immediately hit with a delightful smell of curry! Atmosphere is quaint and very clean and tidy. Food- samosa and naan were a great start. My wife and I came here to enjoy dinner on New Years Eve, and we had a fantastic experience. We've been missing the amazing cuisine since moving back from Lancaster, so we're quite difficult to please; however, the food, location and service here exceeded our expectations. We always return here when we're visiting Philly because we love Indian food and this place is just lovely. The service is exceptional, the food is awesome and the place is spotless. Plus, Lansdale is cute and quaint. We like our Indian food nuclear hot and they were happy to make it for us at any spice level we wanted. We've tried a variety of dishes and we've enjoyed every one of them. They also let you BYOB, bonus! If I had one small complaint, it'd be that the portions are a bit small for the price. My fiance and I were in the mood for Indian and stopped by here. There is a nice parking lot in the back of the restaurant. Sometimes, it's hard to find parking on Main Street in Lansdale. The service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant is clean and bright, which I really appreciate. There is a wide selection on the menu. Everything we had were tasty. This was my first experience with Sultan. I called ahead and ordered takeout. When I went to pick it up, I had to wait an extra 15 minutes inside for my order. I was pretty annoyed, but at least I knew they were making my food fresh. I ordered the saag paneer and a plain naan. I am not sure why they call this saag paneer since it's not even saag (mustard leaves) but it was palak (spinach). Anyways, it came with rice. The rice was a little bit clumped together but it had a nice flavor with the cumin seeds in it. The naan was good but I wish it were a bit more fluffy. Overall, I am really surprised with how much I enjoyed my meal from here and I would order again. read more

Sultan Indian Cuisine is hands down one of the best restaurants in Lansdale. I order from them at least once a week, and they never disappoint. I recently catered an event for my church in Telford, and everyone was blown away by the food. We ordered the Chicken Saag and Tikka Masala--both were packed with flavor and incredibly fresh. My friend and I wanted to try a couple of the restaurants in the Lansdale area, and we happened to stumble upon Sultan Indian Cuisine! My friend had never had Indian food before, so I wanted to give him the full experience. We decided to split the Vegetarian platter that comes with a samosa, onion pakora, vegetable pakora, and paneer pakora! All of them were super tasty, and they were enhanced with the different chutneys! We had a tamarind, mint, and chili chutney that were all super good! They also brought out complementary pappadam, which was an amazing addition to the appetizer round. For the entree, we split the mixed grill that comes with chicken tikka, chicken kebab, and shrimp tikka, and it came with complementary basmati rice. We also put in a order for garlic naan, which was soooo good! The meat was super flavorful and it went so well with the garlic naan and rice! With the chutney on top, you basically made the perfect bite! My friend also wanted to try the mango lassi, which disappeared before I even knew it, so I guess it was good! The service was awesome! The staff was super friendly, and the tables were nicely spaced (perfect to prevent badly maneuvering and the ill possibility of dropping a plate). A lot of items had lots of cream based sauce, but light on ingredients..i.e. only small amounts of chicken, paneer,etc.There were only 4pcs of tandoorii chicken to choose from in the pan.Usual sub-par chicken that seems to be the norm in Indian restaurants. Mulligatawny was ok, but was puréed and a light green color?? Cauliflower curry very salty, okra was strange consistency. Pakoras & other fried things(no samosas) were decent. Raita, chai & papadum tasted funky. Mint chutney was more white than green. Best part of my meal was mango lassi & gulab jamun. My favorite Indian buffet to go to. It's a nice place with two fancy chandeliers. It even works for semi formal occasions. Staff is attentive. I go for their weekend lunch buffets, which is nice and quiet. Basmati rice is great. So is the Naan, which is at the buffet table, but the waiter brought some to my table anyway. . I really like the vegetable korma . They have the standard Indian dishes but also new ones on a regular basis. There was a soup last week that was a grilled cheese sandwich plus tomato soup in a Bowl, and I just had some vegetarian hakka noodles that reminded me of ramen. They even have a chaat bar. Chaat is supposedly a snack food in India, so you take a scoop of chickpeas with potatoes, then you add a bit of every type of sauce they have. It's a unique flavor experience. Delicious! Immediately upon entering, the aroma was mouthwatering. I was skeptical, as I usually am with new restaurants, but the food was phenomenal and satisfying. The Sultan is a good choice for someone in the mood for Indian Cuisine. I have stopped in a couple times for the lunch buffet since they have been under new management. The food is better then it was before, I love there use of spices. The Gula Jamin has nice hints of Cardamum and I love the nut meg flavor in the chili chicken. The service has been excellent on the times I have went. The woman at the front cuter is full of energy and is very attentful. The environment is relaxed and the decor is nice. This is my second visit to Sultan in past 3 weeks. I must say, their food quality, taste were awesome. In my first visit, I ordered Chilli Paneer (Hot), it was awesome. Today, we tried, Chicken Chilli, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Bhuna and Chicken Biryani. All tasted good. The food in this place was terrible. The food did not look or taste like what was ordered. The menu items were not accurate and did not specify everything the dish included. We ordered two sides of rice because the main dishes did not specify any side, but apparently it included rice and we ended up with four huge sides of rice. I eat Indian food almost every day, so I have experience with what the food looks and tastes like, but the quality of the food at this restaurant was very poor. I find the chicken tikka masala to be somewhat "tough" and a little flavorless compared to other tikka masala I have had. The new decor and look of the place is very clean. I'll start by acknowledging that the food is good. My main issue with the restaurant is the service. I ordered our dinner online one evening and opted to pick up in 30 minutes. 45 minutes later I arrived at the restaurant and paid for my order. Only at that point did my order even get submitted. 20 minutes later I asked how much longer my order would take and was told it was just getting started. At that point I asked for my money back and I can't see going back to this place. read more

Asked for: Chicken Curry Meat Samosas Sang Paneer Onion Bhajia 2x Masala Chai The guy on the phone asked me "medium or spicy" when I asked for the curry. I replied "medium", as I had never been here before. When it came time to pickup the food, there was no curry. Had to order and wait for it. Defeats the purpose of calling in but whatever. On top of that, they didn't have enough to make two masala chai, so we just got one. As far as the food goes: the curry is decent, not as good as what you can get in Philly; the meat samosas were good; the sang paneer (I'm told) was good; the onion bhajia was acceptable; and the masala chai was abysmal - it tasted like hot water with maybe a sprinkle of cardamom.
