I used Cross Country Mover and they quoted me a price that kept changing. They picked up my household goods in July for Aberdeen MD, Held in storage then let me know next month I have to pay $1400 storage fee. So I found a storage facility not from from where I was buying my house rent to big units for $307 a month compared what they wanted to charge. My bill kept growing. So Dec 17th I had one storage emptied and delivered to my new home. Unwrapped masterbed furniture covered with moving blankets and tape get that off and they've taped all the draws closes so as I'm removing the tape it's pulling the color off my chest and dresser who does that. This not my first time moving a having a company pack me out. Furniture messed up. I'm pissed. The young lady in the office that answered phone was always nice and hopeful. I let my daughter book Cross Country Movers and I am regretting it. They arrived 3 hours late to pick up my stuff in Baltimore and told me they would hold it in storage until I gave them an address and move-in date in Denver. I called them and filled out the proper form to have my things delivered. That was 3 weeks ago. They have had my belongings for a month now, and I have had to pay rent and upend my life while I wait for them to call. They also charged me $1500 more than the original estimate. I have emailed customer service and still have no response. I have moved several times and this is absolutely the worst service I have ever received. Do NOT use this company! read more

***STAY AWAY FROM CROSS COUNTRY MOVERS*** don't normally post reviews unless I feel the need to when I want to clear the air of good reviews and bad reviews. You don't need to trust my review, but hear me out: My move took a total of 4 days from loading and off loading the truck which is why I am giving this company a two star. This goes for my 1b apartment and my car both on the same day. I can't emphasize to you enough how nonchalantly the movers handled my belongings in my apartment. At first I was okay with the $3k move I was quoted for, but then the price slowly crept up to $6k which is fine I dont mind because I had a lot of stuff. When the were putting things in boxes and onto the truck they weren't even handling it with care. They were tossing things into other boxes that were marked "fragile" and putting things into the truck as if they weren't. The local movers were so bad it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. For the car, it was great and the driver was friendly and helpful with the process. As for cross country movers, they have the wrong date and time when the car would arrive. They called me unexpectedly telling me my car was at my new place and we're going to leave if I didn't pick up and deliver it another day. THIS WAS ALL CROSS COUNTRIES FAULT. I WAS CONTACTED BY THE DRIVER PERSONALLY BEFORE CROSS COUNTRY. Finally, when the movers got here, they were WAAAAY better than the movers during my local move (CA to CO) and handle everything with care. I left them a bigger tip because of it. Cross country didn't even inform me my belongings would arrive 10 mins into my meeting for work. I can't express to you how frustrated I am with my move and I will never use them again. I had a friend that needed help moving to another state for another job. Did some research and stumbled upon Cross Country Movers, and showed it to him. These guys were very helpful for us from start to finish. The whole process took about two solid weeks. Moving in general sucks and often takes a long time to get things loaded, but these reps were very careful when things were packaged and loaded my friends items very efficiently into their trucks. There were some issues along the way to my friends new apartment, mainly due to Traffic in the area, but the reps were very considerate of the matter and let us know beforehand the timing of it all. I do not understand how anybody could have a negative experience with these guys, we called them maybe three weeks ago to help us clean out and move our two story house. We had several long hallways and tight corridors that we anticipated would pose a difficult challenge to the movers as it would be harder to get around. Thankfully when they got there and realized the situation they had the tools to adapt to the situation and it was not a complicated issue. Within a few days we had completed the entire paperwork process and had a supervisor come to our home to provide us with an on sight estimation of the length and cost of the move. They gave us several options of bundles or package deals that they had at the current time which included expedited transportation if we wanted to receive our things sooner and also insurance policies for the wooden and plastic crates. Boxes were another alternative however we were worried that they would not be the sturdiest option for shipping. We ended up choosing the wooden crates for most of our clothing and furniture that was not fragile however the electronics and glassware we had double wrapped in their office made bubble wrap and put into plastic crates. These things were going to be flying on a plane for hundreds of miles and our main concern was merely that they were safe and did not break. Thankfully the actual length of the move was much shorter than they had told us, the packing and loading process took about four to five business days and by Wednesday or Thursday of the following week we had already began receiving our things slowly. Ultimately we could not have imagined getting better results from choosing any other alternative company, the movers at Cross Country have been doing moving jobs for years and their experiences truly reflects from their work. If you want quality service it might run you a bit more on the pricey side but you get what you pay for at the end of the day. If you want a crappy job then you can go with some of the other mom and pop moving companies, but if you want the job done right and in a short span of time call these guys. read more

The folks who arrived for delivery and drop-off were polite and quick, and goods were labelled properly. DO NOT work with CC Movers. I consider myself a very positive person who NEVER gives negative reviews but I felt compelled to write this to help anyone who's considering using Cross Country Movers - my advice is: DO NOT work with these people. I choose them because they had good Yelp reviews. It has been a nightmare ever since. Here are the facts: they quoted me a $3,500 move estimate and said it would take 4-7 days to move our stuff from Denver to Connecticut. They took my deposit and then AFTER loading up my stuff they told me the estimate had changed from $3,500 to $6,400. They asked me to sign a document saying that I had been presented the new $6,400 estimate BEFORE loading my stuff onto their truck. I said I didn't want to sign that document. They responded that they would have to unload all my stuff and keep my deposit. At this point I literally took out my phone and recorded the document, what they were asking me to do, and the fact that the truck was already loaded when they provided the new estimate so I have proof. Anyway, I couldn't afford to have them unload my stuff and keep my deposit (both in terms of time and money) so I signed. After I signed, the mover said it would take 8 to 21 days for my stuff to get to Connecticut... I asked about the original 4-7 day estimate and the mover responded, "that's just what the salesmen say" but that the reality is that it takes a lot longer. I called customer service and they said they'd consider a $200 refund but never followed through. When our stuff arrived there were some broken items. Customer service said they'd send me an email with an insurance claim form to fill out for our broken items... they never sent me the form and I haven't heard from Cross Country Movers since. Again, I never rarely write reviews and this is my first negative review. I rarely ever complain and always try to stay positive... but I felt compelled to write this so that others don't have to go through what I went through with Cross Country Movers. These guys use a variety of dollies and equipment in order to get their job done, they showed great demonstration and ability and working with these tools. They gave us multiple options for deals and pack it up on those for the distance of our move. This included boxes and crates which all serve different purposes including securely maintaining electronics and other types of cardboard boxes which were used to store clothing in. They try to separate as many of the fragile belongings from each other as they could between soft materials in order to prevent any damage during the transport process. read more

The first few days seemed to be the most difficult as there was a lack of space for us and the movers to get around. This made their job especially difficult as there was little leg room to carry large and heavy objects such as the couches and bed sets. Thankfully these guys had prior experience to such large sized moves and had the right tools to get the job done. We were surprised that for all the things they did, they charged us a very low rate compared to their competition. This showed us that they actually care about helping their customers and not merely making a profit out of the people who they help. This was one of the many reasons for this full rating, also because the movers that arrived to our house each day were friendly and had fun conversation while maintaining a stern work ethic. They knew when it was time to stop and talk but also when they needed to concentrate on the moving itself. All in all we were very satisfied with how things worked out, we were moved into our new place maybe four or five days earlier than our move in date and that was very exciting. We had almost half a way left to get used to the area around there as it was a completely new city to us. The movers that dropped off our stuff even came in and help us set things up to the best of their abilities. You have to calculate some of the decisions that you make in life and a lot of these things may have impact for broader than you might expect. They helped me dismantle some of my larger furniture pieces, and stopped by a storage unit to pick up a couple more things I wanted for my new place. Their workers hustle! At one point, two movers handled the fridge,dryer, and washer while another kept packing boxes and other belongings in the truck. My family consists of 4 people and as my father was employed in state we had to move out from Denver, CO to Anaheim, CA. By making a research over moving companies on Yelp we found one of the best with all 5 stars. We have got very accurate, fast and efficient 3 movers. These movers packed furniture, masterfully loaded our new refrigerator into the elevator and went. A 2Br apt took them about two hours to load. The movers brought out furniture and belongings from the 3rd floor, and on arrival raised it at the 5th, all large and heavy items. In general, everything was done professionally. I just moved from Colorado to California and had a very frustrating time with Cross Country Movers. THE GOOD: The price was competitive. The movers in Colorado were awesome and did a very thorough job packing up pictures. THE BAD: This is probably an industry standard, but they only give you 48 hours notice when they are picking up your items. They will deliver within 14 business days but you have to be ready at any moment for the delivery. They said they will give you 24 hours notice when the stuff will be delivered but my crew called less than 24 hours ahead of delivery. The delivery crew left a message saying it would be delivered between 8am-2pm. Then they called at 8am to say that it would be "later" giving no time estimate. After calling Cross Country Movers a couple of times, at 4pm they finally gave me an estimate of between 4pm and 7pm. You will need to have an extremely flexible schedule to make this move work. Throughout the move process I called Cross Country several times. Over half the responses were "the person you need to talk to is on their lunch break, they will call you back." Of the 5 times I was promised a call back, only one person did. Not sure this qualifies as "a Professional Moving Consultant who will be with you all the way," as per the contract. THE UGLY: Again, this is probably an industry standard but Cross Country subcontracts much of the actual moving/ delivery. The company actually delivering my items was called Oasis Moving & Storage. Before delivering my items, Oasis called and said I needed to pay the entire balance (over $2k that had been pre-paid to Cross Country Movers) in cash or money order to Oasis. This is not an accounting or logistic miscommunication; Oasis has 92 complaints on the BBB and over 80 1 star reviews on yelp. These complaints detail numerous incidents of Oasis holding people's items hostage unless a large cash sum is payed, or de-frauding customers by forging invoices. This is not a company I want moving my stuff or let anywhere near my house. I truly felt the safety of my items and my own safety had been compromised during this moving process. Definitely not the "professional moving company" promised at delivery and pick-up. read more
