Wrightwood Salad
Nikki R.

Crosby's Kitchen is delicious for any time of the day! They have amazing brunch/lunch/dinner options that you truly can't go wrong with. They're known for their Wrightwood Salad which feels fresh, but what has truly stood out to me so far has been their Bloody Marys and their Thanksgiving Special sandwich (wish they offered this all year). They have a great Midwestern vibe going on inside, and are very organized. One thing I will say is their service can be hit or miss (feel like this depends on the server), but their well curated dishes will always have me coming back!

The weather was nice enough that we ate outside ?!!!! Vibes were high. This salad was everything I needed. Such a yummy combo of ingredients too. Favorite part was the cornbread croutons

Slightly elevated American comfort food is how our server described and I'd have to agree. While it was simply just ribs and coleslaw, they add a kick that turns it up just a notch without overdoing it. The portion size was great, just enough food to clear the plate without feeling stuffed. Service was quick and friendly, pleasantries from every employee in our path. I thankfully made a reservation, even on a Monday night, Crosbys seems to be one of the popular Southport spots for dinner.

Nice Little House Salad with Chicken

We decided to drop in a try for a table on a Friday night without a reservation. We were excited when they did have a table for two for us! But I would recommend a reservation to guarantee a table. To drink, I ordered a prickly pear margarita on our servers recommendation. It was a very satisfying egg foam and refreshing flavor. To eat, I ordered the nice little house salad with rotisserie chicken added. This was the perfect late night light dinner. The salad has a citrus vinaigrette and the chicken is exceptional. You have to try it in some form when you are there as it's their specialty. It comes with a piece of jalapeño cornbread which I think should be standard with any salad! For dessert, we had an iron skillet cookie. It was gooey, warm and delicious. Definitely a classic dessert that you cannot go wrong with. This is a great neighborhood spot for high quality food and well crafted classics.

Street parking with Pay to Park meters. We were a bit early for our large group reservation, but our table was ready and we were promptly seated. Server came by for drink orders. We perused the menu while awaiting the rest of our party. There's a nice selection of food and drinks. There were also some specials that sounded and tasted great! Brussels sprouts appetizer was shared with the group, a good choice if you enjoy sprouts. Crab toast was reported as delightful, and my Wrightwood Salad was generously portioned and very tasty! Food and drinks were delivered to us in a timely manner. We were not rushed, which was good because our visit was to catch up with out of town visitors. Restroom was clean! There's an inviting outdoor patio around the corner on Cornelia Ave, looks like a great place to relax and enjoy the city vibes!

eggs benedict with hashbrowns

We went for brunch on Saturday early afternoon. There is a cocktail menu along with some specials; but we opted for coffee, water, and a bloody mary. We started with some monkey bread and blueberry cornbread. We ordered avocado toast, eggs benedict and biscuits & sausage gravy. Don't forget to add hashbrowns if not included with your entree - they are fantastic!!! Monkey Bread - similar to bread yeast rolls with carmel on the bottom and some butter on top. Nothing too special. Blueberry cornbread - this was way better than expected. Flaky, full of blueberries, not too sweet, but so tasty. MUST-ORDER ITEM! Eggs Benedict - two halves with full poached eggs on bacon with hollandaise sauce. Hashbrowns comes with. These were super tasty and great! I would choose these again. I tried some of the Biscuits & Sausage Gravy. The biscuit was very dense and dry to me, but the sauage gravy was excellent. Avocado Toast - they use a brioche-type bread, which is excellent and avocado mixed with spices gives it a little kick. It comes with a side salad that looked wonderful, but I didn't try it. The restaurants has tables and booths. Although the chairs are wooden and hard if you are in place for over an hour. There is also a bar area. As for holding a conversation, it wasn't too loud during the afternoon. It was getting quite busy, but we still had no trouble talking amongst our group. Our service started off great. Discussing the menu options and famous dishes, etc. We were served water which is served from a bottle brought over from the bar area. However, we never received a refill on water and ended up grabbing it ourself from the bar. In fact, even our last round of drinks and refills were never brought to us. We asked and had to remind our server. Entrees were around the $17-22 range. I would visit again.

Pasta Rigatoni & Burrata

First it's a cozy, neighborhood restaurant in a nice part of Southport's shopping district. Second they have nice outdoor seating that make a comfortable day great al fresco dining. Third they are a scratch kitchen making even the pasta for dishes right there. We had the spinach artichoke appetizer. It came with some gazpacho like salsa that seemed out of place for this type of dish but the appetizer tasted good. It had a couple small hard bits in it, not sure what they were, I couldn't identify them. We also had the pasta rigatoni. It was great. Sauce had good flavor. We loved the house made rigatoni pasta served al dente. It contained generous amounts of burrata in small bits, almost cottage cheese like in size, that were easy to mix in and consume. It had ground sausage with good taste. I think they could have been more generous with the amount of sausage. It was slightly pricey. Two of us, one appetizer, two pasta dishes, no drinks or desserts, came to $80+. I will probably dine here again. Wait staff was polite and on top of most things except did have to ask for silverware and napkins.

*Seared Ahi Tuna Salad. A bit more than seared. A few of the pieces were cooked through.

Great spot in the Southport Irving Park area. I met a friend of mine to celebrate my birthday. I had the seared Aji tuna salad, but it was cooked a little too much. Several of the pieces were gray. They did make it with Romain lettuce instead of spring mix. Which was my request. It was a nice portion and the vinaigrette was an excellent addition to the salad. Had a spicy margarita, which was ok. We met on a Monday around 12:30 and there was a good sized crowd there. Nice variety of menu. We didn't mention it was my birthday so I don't know if they do desserts for that. Anna was our server and did a nice job. Great outdoor seating. It was a little chilly so we did not sit outside. The inside is decorated a little rustic and it was nice.

Big fan of Crosby's Kitchen in Lakeview. Great breakfast food, well worth it. They were not too busy, service was fast & friendly. The inside feel was casually hip, well done. Give it a try

Crosbys kitchen has a large menu that is suitable for almost everyone. They have a lot of seafood on their menu as well. I love most of their apps, especially the lobster deviled eggs and tuna nachos. I haven't found my favorite entree yet. The side of Mac and cheese is also phenomenal. I did have a little bit of slower service during my past visit but it was lovely sitting outside on the patio I didn't mind the extra time out there.

Just tried this place with my daughter and her partner for the first time on Sunday for brunch. The location has a parking lot which is great, and the interior decor is very sleek and sun-filled. The environment feels light and airy. It's quiet enough for engaging in conversation with loved ones, and the best part of course is that the food was delicious. Our server was also very attentive and friendly, took great care of us. I had the chicken dip sandwich which was so juicy and fresh! The accompanying French fries were also so fresh you can really taste the difference! My daughter had the traditional breakfast and also said her meal was very good! Her partner had a breakfast sandwich with fresh toppings that he said was amazing also! Definitely recommend and will return to dine again!

*Spinach & Artichoke Dip
Brittney W.

Went for NYD (new years day) brunch. It was a more casual spot. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We started with the spinach artichoke dip which was lovely. Very cheesy and warm. The avocado toast was good too. I loved the salad it came with. The avo toast was a little spicy just fyi. The hash browns are amazing!! Would just order these. The breakfast sandwich was okay. Pretty standard. The breads were hearty which I liked. All in all, a good meal!

What a cute little brewery! They have a handful of beers, with a good variety (i.e. 75% are *not*…read moreIPAs). Plus, I think it's fantastic that their menu describes the flavor notes! The prices are extremely reasonable, with most 10oz pours costing ~$5-6. The flight of the 'core' (shall we say) six is $20... not bad at all if you ask me. I ordered 10oz of the Liquid Baguette, as the menu described, Earthy, Crisp, and Refreshing. While not my favorite beer on the planet, it was very respectable for a craft brew. DryHop also has a proper food menu, with mostly American classics with some a little more out there options, like the Kangaroo Steak Frites or the Hunter Stew (I don't recall what kind of meat, but not exactly something readily available at Jewel's. The cup was a large enough portion, even made me wonder if I was given a bowl by mistake. The broth was rich and savory, with an ample amount of protein. While a little more meat and smaller pieces of potatoes would have been welcome, this is more personal preference than a critique. Something which was less than fantastic was the service. I felt it was inattentive and a little slow, especially given the brewery was only moderately busy at the time. Maybe I am becoming an impatient, old curmudgeon, or maybe there's some truth to my observation, you be the judge. Final verdict: I think DryHop would classify as a micro-brewery. In that regard, they have a solid selection and good variety. To have something for the beer to wash down there's a solid food menu. While beers and grub are of a high standard, the service leaves something to be desired.

You enter through a front room with a long bar before moving into the main dining area, which is lined with large windows. Warm wood paneling and colorful graphics give the space an inviting, energetic feel. Our server was excellent--friendly and attentive--and both the owner and a manager stopped by during the evening to check in, which was appreciated. Felix has an extensive cocktail menu, and servers were busy delivering trays of beautiful drinks throughout the night. I ordered the Windy City Sunset mocktail, while my husband chose the Smokey Old Fashioned. Both were very good. The food, however, was more of a mixed bag. We started with the meatballs for the table; unfortunately, they were overcooked and hard, and even the marinara sauce couldn't save them from being dry and unappetizing. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, which was delicious and generously sized--easily enough for two meals. My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan with a side of pasta and found the chicken somewhat dry. Our friends ordered a pasta dish to share, though they didn't eat much of it while tending to their very well-behaved six-month-old. While the bar and dining room are attractive, the bathroom was a major disappointment--dirty and unkempt, especially considering it was early in the evening (around 6 p.m.), not late enough to excuse the condition. The owners and staff are genuinely kind, and the menu shows a lot of promise. At the moment, though, the food doesn't quite live up to what they're serving at Bites. I hope Felix can work out some of the inconsistencies and find success--it certainly has the potential. I would like to give Felix 3.5-stars, but Yelp does not accommodate this option.

Every time I visit, the decor never ceases to impress. It's classy but unpretentious and you can tell folks are there to have a good time. We arrived at about 8:30pm on a Saturday and it was packed. Luckily, we were able to snag seats at a bar before a table opened up around 9pm. A note that they don't take reservations (but I kind of wish they did!), so this isn't the place to go if you're in a rush. They had a special seasonal menu going for the holiday, and we started with the reuben hush puppies. While they were more like croquettes, they were extra crispy, cheesy, and juicy with the most delicious thousand island dressing. I wish they would offer this year round! For mains, we ordered the corned beef and buddha bowl. I really liked the horseradish aioli that came with the beef- while the meat could've been more tender, it had a great flavor overall. The cabbage actually tasted pickled and the carrots sweet; non-traditional, but tasty! The buddha bowl had a very wide range of veggies and perfectly cooked rice. I could drink that spicy peanut sauce. I appreciated how large the portions were, which definitely softened the price as we left with plenty of leftovers. All in all, we had a great experience- if you haven't checked Wilde out, I highly recommend doing so!
