Had a great meal at Crosby's Kitchen for lunch. Started off with Spinach Dip and Tortilla Chips. Gotta say, really dug the dip. Great flavor. For the entree I had their French Dip with these Bacon Potato Cakes. From what I understand, the French Dip isn't a standard there, only something they do on special occasions. But I'm glad I was there for the occasion, because the French Dip was also super good. The Bacon Potato cakes were also good. Glad I came here. My server Matt was super knowledgeable about the menu, and was great at customer service. Would definitely want Matt again the next time I go back to Crosby's Kitchen. read more

The best breakfast in the city hands down! Wish they served it everyday sadly only the on weekends they do. The French toast is amazing and there breakfast sausage are delicious!!! I love this place! Highly recommend read more

OMG!!! Sooooo good!! So I had a friend tell me about this place after we had dinner at Elli Ella next door. (Same owner) He said their brunch is good so I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop by. Their brunch menu looked amazing but my attention was immediately drawn to the biscuits & gravy but was a bit skeptical since you can't find a good B&G outside of the "South". So I decided to ask my waitress (Sara-Jane) for her opinion. I told her that I tried the B&G at another restaurant in town that had it on their menu and claimed to be a southern style restaurant but was completely disappointed the minute it arrived at the table. She immediately said "oh no, trust me our B&G is so good" and proceeded to describe it. Her description alone made my mouth water. So I went with it and I'm so glad I did. The minute it hit the table in the iron skillet it was appetizing and my first bite took me back to the first time I had biscuits & gravy back in Georgia. It was delicious and I enjoyed every bite. Sarah came back to check on me and she could immediately see that I was pleased. My response ... "Nailed It ". The food was great, the service was great, my server was amazing and I will definitely be back. Thank you for a great first experience. read more

Great service and absolutely amazing food! We shared the Eggs Benedict and the Corn Beef Skillet and you can't go wrong with either. The hash browns were out of this world (maybe order a side??). read more

The cornbread was very good prob some of the best I've had in a really long time if not ever. Chicken was good, my friend got ribs, he seemed to like it. My girlfriend got salmon and we aren't too sure it was even Salmon she didn't eat it.. she ate my food instead. Our waiter was nice but the old bald guy that dropped our food off kinda just aggressively put it on our table , didn't say anything or ask whose dish was whose... he seemed annoyed .. looked like maybe he was the owner? If that's the case that's not really a way you treat people at your restaurant. Good not great. read more

Salmon and lobster deviled eggs were delicious! However, they didn't state in the menu that the brussel sprout salad contained bacon and a member of my party cannot eat pork products...after waiting 20 minutes for a new entree and having to substitute her salmon for a different fish because they ran out, we were still charged full price with no comps to make up for it, kind of disappointing! read more

Delicious brunch and lovely service. There was a long wait but I started the check in when we left our place and it was zero wait when we got in. I recommend the Bloody Mary/High Life combo for a hangover cure and delicious French toast for something sweet. read more

This place is right near the brown line stop for Southport! It had great brunch food and the servers have always been great! I use yelp to see if there is a wait and put my name in- because like any place in Chicago it can get on a wait. I would try to monkey bread for a brunch sugary snack. I also think the ribs were pretty decent. read more

My husband and I met for the first time at this restaurant over 3 years ago. Since we were having an international wedding, we wanted to sign the paperwork and get married here in Chicago before leaving. One of our friends was performing the ceremony so we has him meet us for dinner at Crosby's Kitchen to sign the paper work and legally marry us... Yes, we actually got married at Crosby's Kitchen! We made a joke about it to our server and she was so thrilled she made the night even more special. Our wedding was amazing but that night at Crosby's was equally special. our server let us know she was closing so we could take as long as we wanted. The food is ALWAYS solid here, lots of options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Great atmosphere and service, always! read more

One of my favorite restaurants for lunch. They have the best biscuits I ever eaten. Also get their homemade raspberry syrup (I think that's the name, not sure). I had the salmon each time and it was perfect! The place is kind of loud, so be prepared. read more

Solid meal.... just not totally memorable except for the great service. Waitress from Maine- so nice.

The BBQ ribs were delicious. The mashed potatoes were real too. Yum in my tum. Brussel sprout salad needed salt and pepper and server was underwhelming. read more

I so badly wanted to love this restaurant. I live in the neighborhood and was excited at the prospect of having a great new restaurant in the area. I finally made it for dinner this week. I was surprised to see that the menu was similar to Bandera and other restaurants in the hillstone restaurant group, however it is not affiliated with them. Looks to be a little bit of a copy cat. The food was not the issue everything else was the issue. I ordered the soup of the day and the Macho salad... wait i mean the "wrightwood salad" which is an exact replica down to the cornbread croutons.. except on my salad they forgot to put the croutons on it. Halfway through dinner the table next to us left and like any restaurant they were clearing it and wiping down the table well the lady that was wiping it down sprayed the solution all over me and my salad. I held my hand over my food to protect it and she just looked at me and said a half a@sed sorry. Normally I would never say anything but i had a large amount of salad left and felt that this was unacceptable. I told our waitress and she did not seem too concerned but she did bring me a new salad. Overall this was meh they obviously have A LOT of kinks they still need to work out. I may give it another shot... in a few months just because I SO badly want to like it. Just a little disappointing. read more

We went here on a Sunday evening at about 6pm with our 9 month old who was about 2 hours away from melt-down bedtime, but we figured that would be enough time for a place known to be very kid friendly. Atmosphere wise, it was kid friendly, lots of high chairs, space for our stroller, and the wait to get a table was 10 minutes - so far so good. The wait once we sat down however was not ideal. 10 minutes to get our drinks, 15 minutes from order to service of our cornbread (which tasted awesome, I want to drink the maplebutter). Then, another 25 minutes till we got our food which was both rotisserie chicken and the rotisserie chicken sandwich - so you know they didn't start cooking it from the time we ordered. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and even helped us get some room temperature water to make a bottle. The best thing on the menu - the cookie skillet - worth every penny and SO GOOD. Easy to share with 2 or 3 people. It was an overall good experience, just not running back. read more

We went here for Brunch on the 4th of July Weekend and I have been craving it ever since. The eggs benny special was poached eggs on the CK cornbread with spicy bacon hollandaise sauce and it was outstanding. Order the Bloody Mary with cucumber vodka and you will not be disappointed. We took the Monkey Bread to go and reheated a couple hours later....delicious fuel for our food coma. read more

My favorite casual dining experience in the city. short, but great beer list (LOVE old chub!), awesome salads (love the tuna salad) and the rotisserie chicken is very tasty. I have been many times, and my only complaint is that the mashed potatoes had a very strange plastic-y taste. Service is always what you'd hope for and there's a DELICIOUS African American server- he is truly hottt with multiple T's. Don't skip the cornbread app or the cookie skillet for dessert. Some of Chicago's best food at very fair prices. ILY, CK! read more

The atmosphere is friendly, casual, and inviting. Service was very fast and we were seated quickly. The prices are a little high though 10 .00 for cheeseburger and fries. It did have a great neighborhood feel to it. read more

A wonderful restaurant! In the past four weeks we've eaten lunch at Crosbys twice and has positively NOT disappointed. The deviled egg app and skillet cornbread are marvelous. The rotisserie chicken is juicy, tener and wonderland flavor! The service from when we entered until we left was gracious and accommodating! You should really try! I've heard that dinner is also spectacular! 2/28/2015: Just ate dinner and it was as good as lunch! Deviled eggs, cornbread for apps and veal stroganoff and prime rib for entrees. Gracious and helpful server. A great neighbor restaurant that's worth driving to! read more

This is my favorite restaurant on Southport. Although, there's a couple that I haven't been to. Very good menu, and very good food. And very good wine and beer. I've always thought the service was excellent. The staff is really knowledgeable about the menu and always attentive. They usually have more than one host/hostess at the entrance at once, so if you get there and one of the hosts is seating someone, you can still get checked in immediately. And outdoor seating in the summer is great. All kinds of people come here - dates, families, and tables of friends. Went for brunch once and there's a lot of tables of 3-4 females. Zero percent of them were good-looking. But at least the staff is hot. And they deal with a tough West Lakeview crowd. Its a somewhat high-end place, with somewhat prissy clientele. I've seen customers snap at the staff once or twice, which I thought was out of line, I should have said something. Usually people think that they shouldn't have to wait for a table and get crabby. read more

We went for brunch this past Saturday around 1pm. My sister has been before and mentioned it would be busy - it was, for sure! But that is always a good sign. We waited about 30 minutes for a table by the bar - my parents both indulged in bloody marys with all the goods on a skewer. Thumbs up. We were seated in the corner by the window - a really upbeat and happy crowd were in the restaurant. Very family friendly, including the service! While we were waiting, I noticed the rotisserie chicken cooking in the kitchen - I'm a sucker for rotisserie chicken. I decided to order the roast chicken sandwich, my sister and her boyfriend shared the bacon strata benedict (they DEVOURED it), and my parents split the turkey burger. My sandwich was honestly pretty disappointing. The chicken had great rotisserie flavor, but the au jus didn't have any, so altogether my meal was bland. I tried the turkey burger and it is as good as the other reviews say - super juicy and delicious spices. As a table we shared the blueberry cornbread. A total must!!!! read more

We used to live in Southport Corridor and now that we've moved, Crosby's is still something we crave all the time! We finally got back and had just as much fun this time - such good food and wine and Derek our server was lovely. We tried the Crab toast app this time which was SO good. My one complaint is that when we started coming here, it was because we had read about the chicken dip which was incredible but they've changed it now :(. It used to be on a baguette, now it's almost like a pretzel bread? And way too much bread - couldn't even fit it to dip it in the jus! And The chicken used to be more pulled or sliced and now it's one big piece. We were bummed because its what we were craving and it just wasn't the same. The fries were still very much the same though thankfully. So tasty! read more

I've been here about 3-4 times and have had a great experience each time. The first time I just had apps and drinks so I couldn't comment much on the food then, I've also been here for breakfast and most recently dinner. I got the Brussel Sprout salad and it was truly one of the best things I've ever eaten. I was eating dinner here before a 10k race early the next morning and wanted something light. It was the perfect amount of food and I left full but not feeling too heavy. The Spinach & Artichoke dip was delicious too and they give you a very generous helping. Another great option on the North Side and I love the location on Southport. Their cornbread is a must try! read more

Delicious Food with a Relaxed Environment! We love going to Crosby's! The food is amazing weather it is brunch, lunch or dinner! My personal favorite is the Turkey Burger. I went back here on Wednesday and was just underwhelmed. Maybe I got that wrong thing? I got a baby kale salad and added chicken. The salad was fine, but it was a little small and could have had better division of toppings (there was more of some & less of others). The worst part was the chicken. I guess it was supposed to be shredded but it ended up with only a few big chunks of chicken. In short, it was a very unbalanced salad. My friend shared cornbread and again, I was just underwhelmed. I felt like it was burnt. I had been here before and thought it was fine. A fantastic location and great decor. I wanted a nice summer salad. Maybe this isn't the place to get that. read more

This place is has great atmosphere and I would definitely go here if I was just going out for drinks but the food is terrible! We had to order a "restaurant special" in order to order cheese curds but they weren't even cheese curds they had weird vegetables mixed in and it pretty much came out in one big clump! Also the salad was very bland, it basically tasted like oil. My sons cheeseburger was completely raw in the middle and my husband didn't even get what he ordered. He ordered fettuccine Alfredo and got carbonara instead. The only tolerable food was the chicken fingers and fries. I will say we were very disappointed and our bill was over $140. Can you say sticker shock, needless to say we left hungry and very disappointed. We ordered a pizza when we got back to our hotel room read more

This place is always packed but I couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about. The cornbread was okay, nothing phenomenal like they implied. Same with the meal. There was also a hair cooked in the cornbread (whoopsies) but they replaced it obviously read more

I like this place! Their food is good, it's convenient and close to my apartment...when it first opened Southport Corridor was missing a lot of sit-down, quality restaurants that weren't bars with a food after-thought. This place served that niche nicely, and they have great food! Their rotisserie chicken is excellent as are the crab cakes. I'm also a big fan of the sashimi tuna salad and the turkey burger is quite good, too! For the most part I have not had any missteps with food. They're not exceptional, but they do have consistently good food. They're reasonably priced for the quality. Now, I don't know if this is just how the restaurant has marketed itself, or if the stroller patrol of Southport got the word out, but this place definitely tips the scales on the "family-friendly" front; I haven't been able to go here once without being surrounded by three different tables of parents and their kids, or tripping over highchairs. In short, if you're here for dinner, you're going to hear a howling baby at least twice during your meal. Guaranteed at least three of you're there for brunch or a weekend lunch! Good spot for a leisurely dinner, but I would not recommend this place for a date night or for those with a low tolerance for children. read more

Went for brunch on a Saturday. The cornbread is good, but otherwise it's just kinda "meh". The menu is very small, and there aren't many options to be had. Also, the bloody's were only so-so. Stopped in Sunday and had a great time! The atmosphere was very relaxing and I really enjoyed the low lighting! I ordered the wrightwood salad and it was delicious! The cornbread is a MUST! It's always funny to see when people give less stars because the restaurant is packed with kids...as if that's the restaurants fault?!? And if the kids are running around acting cray that's probably something the parents need to deal with, not the restaurant. Some reviewers are full of first world problems! Overall good food good atmosphere and friendly staff! read more

Cozy neighborhood spot. Atmosphere is casual and servers are all very friendly. I can't pick one favorite appetizer either. From the lobster deviled eggs to the maple butter cornbread, I always want to lick my plate. The Wrightwood Salad was fantastic, but large, so plan on it for an entree. I split it with a friend and it worked out great. This is my favorite spot all year around, but especially in the winter. Warm fire, food, and atmosphere. read more
