I was kinda worried when I drove up and there wasn't a car in sight. But, I did show up at an odd time. It wasn't breakfast, brunch, or lunch time, more of a "I'm hungry in the middle of the day because I skipped breakfast" kinda meal. So I decided to ignore the vacant parking lot and brave the empty diner alone. The restaurant was very clean, the staff was very welcoming and friendly, and the food was very good! I ended up having the SOS hash browns (which the server explained was a hamburger gravy served over hash, but you could order it on the side too). I usually order a side of gravy to pour over my hash browns anyways, so I was quite pleased with this. I also ordered a side of their pancakes, which ended up being pretty darn tasty. Probably the most pleasant surprise about the whole thing was the coffee. Actual drinkable coffee at a diner in Utah? Inconceivable. read more

Aloha Omlet, Apple Fritter. I had eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy along with a scone. $.79 extra for a tiny cup of honey? Trying to modify anything on the menu is pretty much a bust. If you want to change anything be ready to pay for it. Not sure if they charge extra for all condiments, but I wanted honey on the giant scone & it cost me 79 cents for what amounted to a tablespoon. Crazy if you ask me. I guess the bottom line is, the menu items aren't many & only one came close to what I wanted. The scones are probably the best part of the meal. The Aloha Omlet was stuffed with filling that proved to have ham & cheese as well as pineapple in every bite. The eggs, were average. The biscuits & gravy were a bit bland. The sausage was an unflavored piece of meat. The Apple Fritter wasn't crispy like it should have been. The taste was fine but a really good fritter has a crispy crust. The service was satisfactory. There are better places to eat & I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. read more

My roommates and I were on our way to Oregon from Wyoming and needed a pit-stop for a quick meal. Upon our arrival we were immediately enchanted by everything about the place: employees, decor, and of course the food. My my my the food. We ordered The Boss Breakfast, The Hawaiian Omelette, and the Vegetarian Omelette between the three of us and within 5 minutes after ordering we had our food delivered to us with a bright and loving smile by our lovely waitress. All three of us couldn't stop ranting about how great each meal was, especially the scones (not your average scone, I won't spoil the surprise by going into detail so just order it, you won't be disappointed). What a fantastic find! I'm not up in this neck of the woods often let alone in the morning. Criddle's looks unimpressive from the outside but inside it's clean and the staff are very friendly. Gives off a hometown cafe type of feel. The food is quick, simple and good. The gravy has decent flavor to it and like everything else there, homemade. Bacon is thick and cooked the way you like it. And as others have mentioned, the scone is huge. I just wish it came with honey. Also, they do a fair amount of take out orders. read more

Based on Yelp reviews we decided to try this place. Upon entering we were greeting by a bright cheerful girl who also was our waitress. The decor is rustic country. It was very clean and they were following Covid guideline. Our coffee was served quickly, unfortunately the first cup was lukewarm and old tasting. Our kind waitress fixed that issue with a fresh hot pot. We ordered the Emmys breakfast and a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy with a side of Hash Browns. Our food came quickly fresh and hot. The gravy over the hash browns had a nice spicy kick to it, it was very satisfying. The gravy over the biscuits was a plain sausage gravy, not the greatest but not the worst. It was hot and edible. The biscuits were really disappointing, we could tell they are a bought product not homemade, they were dry and crumbly, not appetizing at all. A little hot sauce and down they went. The scone was very good, fried doughy, chew with yummy honey butter, it was better than other places in northern Utah. Yes I would go back, but I would not order the biscuits. I'm town for work and this place came highly recommended by. We stopped in on a Friday and they had a giant line. So we came back during the week. Got in immediately, staff was friendly, food came out so fast and hot. Waitress and hostess were so nice and made sure we had everything we needed. I got a cheese omelette, hash browns and the scone! Hold on to your handcarts, Ogden. I've found the quintessential Utah scone. If you're from out of state, your scone may not be our scone, but this thing is delicious and it's gigantic. It was the size of a plate and came with enough honey butter to fill a small pool. Criddle's has classic breakfast food. *Ambience is 1-star: no windows, EVERYONE crammed by front door to either pay or wait on the list (thus don't sit near the door- it's a nightmare in the winter with a frigid blast every 10 seconds). No art or decor- like eating inside of a closet. *Food is 3-stars: scones & butter were great, coffee was great (Boyle's), eggs cooked well, chicken fried steak was good, but hash browns were limp and flavorless and french toast was easily the worst I've ever had. Biscuits and gravy also average. *Overall 2-stars cuz the force needs balanced here. So many locals love this place and I'm not sure why?... We haven't been to a restaurant since Covid started and let me just say this was an amazing first putting for our family. The service was lot only friendly but FAST. Everyone in the cafe was spread out to make everyone safe and comfortable. The food was top notch too. We definitely will be back! read more

It was ok. Probably won't be back. They're pretty much known for their portions. Our server was great. We arrived at about 11:30 a.m. The sign said to seat ourselves, so we did. We ordered a cinnamon roll to share. I had the steak sandwich, hubs had the Reuben, then we split. The steak sandwich was lacking in flavor. I put a healthy amount of salt and pepper on it. But what really made it good was when I added the fry sauce. I just kind of feel that your sandwich should stand on its own feet without all the added 'stuff' to make it good. The Reuben was my favorite. It was pretty darn good. Very greasy, though. Lots of sauerkraut. The fries were good. They came right out of the fryer. They were so hot we couldn't eat them for about five minutes. They lacked salt, which we didn't realize while they were cooling. Because our food did not come out at the same time, when the second sandwich came out (with fries), we were sure to immediately add salt so it would stick better to the fry. The cinnamon roll was ok. Again, it's really about the size that give it the 'wow' factor. We split it between us and our kid. The dough was a bit dry. The frosting was way over-the-top sweet. A cream cheese frosting would be phenomenal, but instead it's just a massive blob of sugar. I would also recommend (if the owner happens to be reading this): there is so much bread that the bread-to-filling ratio is off. There is not enough filling in the cinnamon roll. The bread is thick (not light and a tad gooey, like I feel a good cinnamon roll should be). It was over-baked so it was dry. Again, I know I'm being picky here, but if your fame is your scones and sweet rolls, I think a few changes could be added for improvement. I plan to head to Sills in Layton to compare cinnamon rolls. They are apparently famous for them. Stay tuned. read more

Small town restaurant feel. Seems like the staff have worked there for decades. Always a smile when they interact with customers, but the smile usually drops a soon as the head turns. They're really good servers. Attentive and prompt. I had a cheese omelet with hashbrowns and rye toast. My partner had two pancakes and they were HUGE. Dinner-plate sized pancakes, thick and fluffy. Really delicious. I think the pancakes were the win at the table. The rest was decent, but not entirely memorable. This place was hopping, so don't be suprised if there's a wait. read more

This is a down home diner place. No frills about the layout of the cafe. The breakfast selection however is a pretty wide range of options and the food is pretty good consider it being in a small town. Their pancakes were so fluffy and so good! Also their french toast looks plain but also tastes delicious! I guess don't judge a book by the cover. The scone was good but the white sauce I thought was yogurt turned out to be sugar! too sugary a bit. Great place for breakfast overall! read more
