Check it-- this place is amazing. First off, The Sweet Roll's are bigger than a fat dudes head.. literally bigger than the plate-- and freaking awesome. The first time we went here I ordered a full breakfast, sweet roll, and a scone-- Holy crap that was a ridiculous amount of food. SOOO GOOD! Secondly, the scones here are fantastic as well. Honestly, I've never had something bad here. I know I know.. it's hard to screw up breakfast.. WELL.. honestly, Denny's does a good job of screwing it up all the time. This place is truly a gem. My favorite part about Criddles is the prices. So reasonable! The sweet roll isl like $4 and the scone is like $2. How can you beat that? Even better? It's not a chain! Basic diner food in a loud environment. Stopped in for breakfast and there were several larger groups there. The noise level was horrible, between the poorly designed building and the rude patrons talking at top volume it was way to loud to enjoy my meal until several folks finally left and the noise level came down to a reasonable level. Ordered the SOS Hash with a scone. The hash was simply hash browns, expected something a little different, gravy was better than many and the scone was large and fluffy, again better than some (Moores for example). The scone was not as good as could have been because the honey butter had a funky flavor, bitter for some reason. Man I love yelp. I was up north for softball tournaments and it rained out. So always looking for a good breakfast spot I yelped and Criddles came up the picts looked good so we decided to try it out. So I take may daughters to different breakfast spots all along the Wasatch front. I will say the food easily was the fastest out of the kitchen. My daughters had the Bosses which was very good. The gravy was great. I had my favorite because it is what I judge all new places by. Chicken fried steak n eggs. It was excellent. My only con: would be it seemed the plates were dominated by large portions of hashbrowns. No big deal however. The highlight of meal was the raspberry drizzled scone. Simply awesome. I got Emma's Breakfast (Emmy's?) for I believe $6.99 but this is from memory. This reminds me a lot of Sill's Cafe, but better. I remember not particularly enjoying Sill's eggs, but this place is delicious. Random location but excellent, warming food. Service was good, prices cheap, and food delicious. Scones were excellent, with honey butter of course. Emma's Breakfast had just the right amount of food with a scone even. I love their SOS sauce, I just wish their hashbrowns spent a little more time on the pan to get a nice brown. The food came out VERY fast, I was impressed. I wish they gave two eggs though instead of one, I mean eggs are so cheap come on. Came with perfectly cooked bacon as well! Overall this is an excellent place for breakfast/brunch. Like the other comments say, this place is awesome for breakfast food and a diner-style environment. Everybody is really nice. The prices are very low. I'm a big eater, and for $7 I got more food than what I could put down. The scones and honey butter are really good. It's a little bit hard to find as it's behind Macey's on 36th & Washington. Heart attack on a plate. Everything here looks and tastes the same. Ogdenites love it because it's a massive portion of carbs, sugar, and fat. Fine as a novelty once in a while (like maybe once a year) but more often than that will land you in an early lard filled grave - with gravy on top. It's a little bit on the spendy side too (like $2.50 or something for a single egg on the side). And it's really not even that good. There's a place down on 12th near the interstate that serves massive breakfasts that are actually amazing. They're expensive too - but at least you get what you pay for. read more

Great value, delicious food and excellent service all add up to an A+++++ rating from our house! The low prices made me a bit wary at first, because they seemed almost too good to be true. My husband ordered the hamburger steak and eggs for $8 and got toast, two large patties and eggs made to order, with a side of crispy tasty hash browns smothered in a thick blanket of the most amazing country sausage gravy I have ever tasted. I ordered a raspberry fritter. Words fail me to adequately describe this chunk of heaven, but perhaps the menu title "Homemade Dough" can pop an image into your head. Served fresh and hot, the fritter was approximately the size of a baseball cap, with a twist in the middle. It was filled with raspberry and covered with a struessel icing - and by covered, I mean swimming in. You will have to fight the overwhelming urge to pick up your plate and lick it clean - it's THAT good. And suffice it to say, you might want to order one to share - it's probably more than one person should eat in one sitting. But you will love trying! LOL It is hard to believe that this much deliciousness could be bought for just $4! Next time, I will be trying the blueberry fritter. For SURE! With an awesome name like "Criddle's Cafe," I have to say that I'm disappointed at the total lack of the use of "Criddle" in their homemade dough section - I therefore am officially petitioning that they change the name of their fritters to "Criddle Cakes!" We visited Criddle's on a Saturday at about 12:45. It was pretty good food. There's one other breakfast place in Utah that I would definitely go to first, and that would be Jeremiah's in Ogden on 12th St. However, you'll also pay more at Jeremiah's. The food here was really good. I would be fine with getting a bit less as far as portions go, and paying a dollar or two less. For a small cafe it seemed like it should be a touch cheaper but I guess they give you so much that it ends up technically being worth the cost. The scone was outstanding and the SOS (Sausage Gravy) on the hashbrowns was also very good. I got the Boss's Breakfast. Bacon was good also, but the sausage was pretty bad. I'm not a huge sausage fan but it was the links that have balls of fat inside and that just doesn't do it for me. I will definitely be back to try some of their other food and to get another scone sometime. I'm just glad Chuck-a-Rama was ridiculously crowded so we could come here instead. read more

Couldn't have been more pleasantly pleased at this little place. It was tricky finding it...but hey...they don't really need to advertise. As it is, they are filling the parking lot and lined up down the street. Food was great. Service was excellent. I ordered one pancake with my breakfast and it was so nice and sweet that it didn't even need syrup. So, if you like your pancakes sweet, you are in for a treat. We were lucky and caught it at a non-busy time, but most of the time I can picture a line out the door. We will definitely go back. read more

Excellent food with HUGE portions. Cinnamon rolls are too big to fit on the dinner plates (no kidding). They have daily specials, Tuesday's are my favorite where they have Navajo Tacos. I don't like spicy food at all and this wasn't too spicy for me. Their bacon is real; it's thick and cooked perfectly. Not too much fat. Be prepared, their portions are really big. read more

The menu clearly says "Additional charges may apply for substitutions". I tried to order the a breakfast meal but wanted hash browns instead of eggs (I was perfectly fine with paying an extra fee to get this changed). Instead, I was told that no substitutions were allowed. The waitress instead had me order all of the items a la carte, which turned my $8 breakfast into a $15 breakfast. If this restaurant doesn't want to allow substitutions anymore, they need to update their menu. The food was pretty good. Good biscuits and gravy, bacon and scones. But paying an extra $3 for hash browns that weren't even crisp and tasted like they came from the grocery store freezer aisle was kinda disappointing. Waitress was nice and personable, and obviously felt bad that the owners had decided on these policies. Altogether, Biscuits and gravy, bacon, and scones are good. Hash browns are not recommended. Make sure to get a meal otherwise you'll end up spending $15 on breakfast for one person. read more

You will definitely find me here again. I wasn't aware that this location even existed until my girlfriend, who is an Ogden local, pointed it out to me. I was incredibly glad she did. I honestly can't rave enough about this place. First of all, the service was fantastic. Despite the fact that it was super busy the morning we went, they were friendly, they were quick and they did their job very professionally for being a small diner. The food was amazing! Asia got the biscuits and gravy and my girlfriend got the French toast and we're both got the sausage to go with it. Both meals were amazing, but whatever you get, get the sausage patty to go with it. I don't know why but the sausage was fantastic. I will have it with whatever meal I order there from now on, even if I have to order it as a side order. Another thing I loved about it was the fact that it was really cheap. I love a place where I can go and get breakfast and not spend a whole lot of money, it makes the experience much better. Like I said, I can't say enough about this place and I will be a regular here. If there was an option to give this place more stars, I would. The people are so friendly at this home like cafe. The food is so cheap but the portions are amazing. This place can get extremely busy, but they are so quick to clean the spot and get you served. I have never felt rushed out, although I usually do rush out so more people can be served. I thought we'd have to wait forever since the place was packed and there were several people standing and waiting for an open table. Surprisingly the service was fab. Criddles has been a staple for us since they opened! My brother had eaten there so took a few of us, then we started going regularly and posting about it -- so many of my friends now call it their favorite breakfast place as well. The food is fresh and they don't make a fuss if you request a few tweaks to it when you order to make it how you like it. Their scones are delicious, my daughter's favorite. By far the most standout item on their menu is their cinnamon roll -- they are HUGE! And covered with a ton of frosting and butter. Buy one and share it with five people, there's plenty!! Their salads are also good and some friends recently got the French Dip and steak sandwich, said both were - as anticipated -- excellent. Try them - you will love them too!! read more

Came to Ogden as part of a ski vacation, and was amazed by this little spot. The waitresses were friendly, service was quick and portions were knock-out sized. Definitely get the home made scone, but be ready- this isn't your run of the mill, sitting in a pastry display scone. Great scones! Almost as good as Sill's. Good breakfast and good service. I'll definitely go back. Update. This had become my go-to breakfast place...until yesterday. I sat down and the waitress dumped ice water all over my lap and cell phone. Anyone can make a mistake and I actually felt bad and embarrassed for her. Afterwards though it took almost 20 minutes before she took my order. I barely ate half of my meal because at that point I'd lost my appetite. I thought for sure they'd give me a major discount if not comp my meal. They gave me a whopping 1.25 off. If I were a waiter and did that to a customer I would give them their meal free and probably a gift certificate to boot. To make matters worse I walked there so I had to walk home in near freezing temps with my nether regions, front and back, drenched in water. At least my iPhone still works for now. Again, I don't hold it against them for the accident. That could happen to anyone. Their extremely inadequate efforts to make it right are why I'll never ever go back. The $1.25 discount didn't even cover what they charged me for a little cup of sour cream. I'm 100% done with this place. I'd eaten there at least 20 times in the last 2 months and brought a friend a few times as well. Never again. read more

LOVED LOVED LOVED being here. Growing up in Layton, UT, our old neighbors owned Doug and Emmy's that is no longer there. THIS place is almost exactly like the old favorite breakfast joint that we have been missing! The waitresses were extremely nice and fast with our food/drinks. Everything came up extremely fast and was delicious. I have missed enjoying amazing scones (Sorry Jeremiahs, yours are terrible!) and loved the overall atmosphere of a local diner.
