The dish had a refined French touch, with balanced seasoning that let the ingredients shine rather than being overpowered by salt. I paired it with a glass of Bordeaux, which elevated the flavors beautifully. The pâté was incredibly well-seasoned, with a smooth yet rich texture. The onions and pickles were a standout--normally, I'm not a fan of preserved vegetables, but these weren't overly sour. Instead, they added a refreshing contrast and helped cut through any heaviness, making each bite feel perfectly balanced. The onions even had a subtle sweetness that complemented the pâté's savory depth. The duck was melt-in-your-mouth tender yet retained a satisfying bite, with a perfect pink center. The red wine sauce brought out the richness of the meat, and paired with the house wine, it was simply perfection. Venue Soft French melodies playing in the background set a relaxed, Parisian-style ambiance. It truly felt like a little escape to France. Service The server greeted us in French--such a charming and welcoming touch! They had a great sense of humor, making the experience even more enjoyable. Midway through dinner, I caught the aroma of another table's lamb rack, and wow--it smelled incredible. Definitely my biggest regret of the night not ordering it, but now I have the perfect excuse to come back! Overall: A must-visit for French cuisine lovers. Can't wait to return! This version keeps your personal insights while making it flow smoothly and engagingly. Let me know if you'd like any tweaks!

With the limited options…read morein Oliver, my boyfriend and I decided to drive over to Osoyoos for a meal out and walked into Convivia Bistro. As a walk in, they didn't have any table for two available so we sat at the bar where we received absolutely great service from Juan. When hearing my boyfriend was still sobering up from the Pig Out event, Juan immediately got us a basket of complimentary bread and butter plus asked if my boyfriend would like some club soda, in addition to the jug of water - what a sweetheart! We started off with the goat cheese salad, Artic Char, a side of garlic bread, and the cream brulee. The goat cheese was deep fried and was warm, slightly salty, but not greasy at all and was so so good as a salad dish. It's completely different from all the goat cheese salads I've ever had and I highly recommend trying this. The garlic bread was more for my boyfriend to sober up and he happily gobbled it up, despite not being hungry. The artic char along with shrimp was beautifully cooked with a gorgeous sauce that wasn't too heavy and rich. The baby potatoes and assorted veggies was absolutely delicious and it was a stand out dish. We were recommended to try the cream brulee, by a regular customer who was seated next to us, and my boyfriend said it was one of the best cream brulees he has ever had. I'm not a huge fan of desserts and enjoyed it - authentic brulee top that cracked beautifully along with an authentic vanilla bean custard without being overly sweet. Great ambiance, top notch service, and the most amazing food at reasonable prices for the quality and quantity. I only wish this restaurant was in Vancouver as I would be a frequent customer. Highly recommend trying this restaurant, and making a reservation, if you're in the Oliver or Osoyoos area!

The escargot and calamari were fantastic but the soup was terrible. For dinner we order two tenderloins, the cassoulet, penne arrabbiata, and the shrimp scallop saffron risotto. The tenderloins were spot on for cook and tenderness. The cassoulet was sent back to the kitchen because the beans were crunchy (undercooked). The scallops were under cooked and the risotto was very wet and underwhelming. The penne was overcooked and lacked any flavor, the sauce was ok nothing to right home about. I am unsure if i will go back.

I forgot to make my review when I had this place last - and unfortunately it is going away :(…read more I really enjoyed the ambiance of this place. You walk in and it's always bumping and bartender is always making funky and cool drinks and everyone's always having a great time. Lots of conversation between friends or even between strangers at the bar. Service was always great. The best dish is the brussel sprouts - it always has something funky in it - marshmellows or grapes and then cheese. It was so enjoyable and they truly believed in their culinary art. I've always appreciated their evolution of their dishes and it was never boring to come back again and again. I truly hope the owners are able to create another restaurant as creative as this one and make it last. I really truly enjoyed this!

We booked a Happy Hour reservation for the long Sunday Easter long weekend at 4:30pm and we were the first to arrive. As Salt & Brick has an evolving fresh sheet menu, you never know what's on the menu but they usually have a few staples like their Brussel sprouts. As this was my boyfriend's first time here, we ordered the Brussell sprouts with popcorn and the Rigatoni. We were given the regular menu but did inquire about Happy Hour and the Brussel sprouts, pastas, and charcuterie board were on special. Unfortunately, they didn't have any oysters available that day. Small cozy atmosphere with a cute front porch. It's a small bar and kitchen that you can see and wonderful that you see and hear all the food being freshly made to order. Our server was friendly, chatty, and attentive but also gave us our space too. The Brussel sprouts served with cheddar popcorn, grapes, and ripped beer cheese is a bit salty, sweet, and so satisfying! My partner doesn't love Brussel sprouts but really enjoyed this dish. The Rigatoni was a bit rich with a nettle became sauce but served with the earthy lily spears, it was a well rounded dish altogether that we also enjoyed. Cute restaurant on the Downtown main strip that isn't a major chain, which is refreshing. Will continue to visit next time in town and hopefully they will have oysters then!

The service was great! I ordered a risotto which was good, but not amazing. The asparagus was crunchy and seemed not fully cooked. We sat on the patio but it was loud since it was on a busy street with constant traffic. The outdoor booth was comfortable, although very low down making it hard to reach my food on the table. Overall, this is a great option for a nice meal in Penticton, but could be improved with better seating and higher quality cooking.

We are Americans that live in a somewhat remote area, so we regularly travel to the Penticton area for shopping and amenities that can't be found in our local area. After we completed our errands this afternoon we decided to stop in to The Nest for a round of drinks and appetizers before returning home. We had the pleasure of being served by the owner himself, who is an extremely friendly and polite gentleman. The vibe upon walking in immediately felt casual and welcoming. The owners passion for what he does shines when he speaks about the menu and about the restaurant. He was extremely attentive despite being short staffed this evening, and being it was our first time in he took the time to explain that the restaurant uses only locally sourced ingredients, and makes as much as they can from scratch in house. The drink menu is pretty expansive and is full of many craft cocktails that are not commonly found elsewhere. Being someone who loves a French 75 and a Tom Collins, I was happy to see both. You'll find many specialty flavors of margaritas, gin and tonics, and smoked cocktails all made with locally distilled spirits. Additionally, they have a nice selection of local beer, wine, and cider when available. As far as the food menu, there are few (if any!) other restaurants I can honestly say I would be willing to try every item on the menu, but this is one of them. There is a unique collection of dishes and options for everyone, with entree options varying from red meat, to seafood, to gluten free, to vegetarian. We opted for two of the appetizers, the baked Brie and nuts and the bison carpaccio. Both were exceptional and fresh tasting. The quality of the ingredients used is apparent. This place will have to be one of our go-to spots from now on. The service is enough to keep you coming back, but we are so looking forward to trying everything else the menu has to offer. Highly recommend giving this place a chance if you haven't already!

We dropped in around 1:00pm and snagged seats on one of their outdoor picnic tables. Our server was friendly but beware, they don't inform you of the automatic 18% gratuity on the bill. Nothing on any of their menu's state that either. Super unimpressed because we ended up double tipping. Menu consists of appetizers, hot sandwiches + burgers, cold sandwiches and salads. They also have a brunch menu (weekends only from 9:00am to 1:00pm) and drinks. - Rocking horse caesar ($8.25) - O is a picky drinker but he said it wasn't half bad. - 2x Weezy wings ($12.00) - our group shared one order with a dill dip ($1.00 extra). The wings were not good; dry and almost tasteless. The louisian style hot sauce they coated the wings with was bland. - Seattle fries ($6.00) - found these oversalted. - 4x Pastrami ($15.00) - we opted for the kettle chips (made in-house). A touch of a peppery Cajun note. The pastrami had a good sauce and the cheese complimented the meat. The bread was well buttered and had a crunchy bite to it. - Choreazy ($15.00) - we went with the daily soup (chicken and rice) which was delicious. Homey and comforting, something your mom/grandma would feed you. The chorizo was homemade but flavours were a bit mute. An okay sandwich that we didn't particularly love or hate. Food was decent but can't get over the shady practices. 2.5 stars.
