That being said, here are my positives! - the food is super good and if solely ranking on food, it'd be a five! I got: avocado toast, the blu's clues smoothie, and the sun & moon crepe - though not fitting the typical Southern California "aesthetic," the food put a smile on my face. - the toast was crunchy, and the avocado and subsequent toppings (greens and cheese) was well put together, tasting very good. - the Blu's Clues is what you'd expect out of a superfood label, but it's the best-tasting one I've had in a while - the crepe was one of the better crepes I've had, not undercooked and well topped. Considering its subpar location, the food punches WELL above its weight. Here are the downsides, though: - inside a supermarket, doesn't really fit a cafe type of vibe, maybe more of an airport lounge feel - there was only one worker so the service was slower paced than what I expected for the environment of the cafe, but nothing out of sorts - since it's in a supermarket it was a little loud, with little seating inside (though plenty outside) - no silverware, only plastic and paper napkins. no plates either, solely to go boxes. - I was also sad that they were out of the superfood açaí bowl as I wanted to try it, but no harm no foul Mind you, all of this can be fixed by moving to a different location, preferably its own and not in a supermarket. I hope this Cafe is able to be successful enough to be able to get to that point. I highly recommend it for the cheap and homey food it offers, especially when you're surrounded by the fancy, expensive, and overbearing food of SoCal. Sometimes it's good to stick to the basics, and they've really nailed it.

The new owners (new to me, they've been here for years) were charming and the food was outstanding. I can't resist smoked salmon so I had to try the smoked salmon waffle. The mountain of smoked salmon was tossed in some sort of dill cream sauce and placed upon a savory waffle. It was a match made in heaven and I truly loved it. I also had a delightful cappuccino with it. I am really glad I rediscovered this place and cannot wait to return!

The tomato and bacon was well received, as was the strawberry crepe. In this department, the crown goes to Crepe Suzette (orange syrup, orange zest, creme anglaise and whipped cream). It had optimum softness, the right amount of sweetness, chew and yes, butter. Truly a heavenly treat for the taste buds. Service is very slow, but rewarding. So if you are not in a hurry and are in the mood for fresh French brunch items, give this place a visit.
