Bourbon Loaded Fries with Lobster
Justin R.

The best creole taste in all the westttt. From their po boys to their loaded bourbon fries, to their heavenly beignets, this place has everything you could want if you're looking for that authentic taste and seasoning that is associated with creole cooking.

Jonna A.

I found this place on TikTok and decided to try their vegan beignets. I have a crustacean allergy, so I can't eat shrimp. The owner let me know that the beignets and fries are cooked in separate fryers, so there is no cross-contamination. The beignets were fluffy and soft, and the fries were well seasoned. Would visit here again!

Catfish. HUGE portions.

Second time here. Catfish. OH. MY. GOD. So good. I have no idea why they're in a mall. This is top tier food.

it was the first time I visited the Oaks . We were looking forward to trying some new food and we struck gold with the Creole King! Not only was it really tasty, but the chef was very generous so I have lunch and dinner today.

Catfish Poboy and Cajun Fries

There are a rare few here in Southern California that know something about authentic Creole food and I certainly stumbled upon a place. My meal was a Catfish Poboy w/ Cajun fried and I most certainly was not disappointed. Let's start with the Poboy. First off, Catfish is amazing when it is prepared properly l. This sandwich had Crispy Dill Pickles, a Lightly sweet Sauce, Bread is fresh baked Perfectly breaded and fried catfish and it was perfect with each and every bite. Next the Cajun fries. These are Lightly seasoned shoestring Cajun fries (think Five guys Cajun but shoestring size) and I actually vacuumed them up with my mouth as I couldn't stop eating them. Jeremiah is the owner and he was at the register telling me a little about how his Creole food came to be out here in SoCal and he was a very nice guy. The short of it: This food is Made fresh to order and it's the Best d*** mall food I've ever had! If you're at the Oaks man, pass on the Panda Express and treat your tastebuds to this!

Shrimp plate. Crispy, hot and big size of shrimps.

What to say? You guys just have to go and try it for yourself. I'm going again for lunch. Catfish, shrimp, beignet peach cobbler, love the fries. Owner super friendly.

Cajun/Creole food is one of my favorite cuisines and it's so hard to find in California, especially in the 805. For a long time now we've had limited options and once I saw that this former food truck was making their way into the Thousand Oaks Mall Food Court I was all ears! Finally made it in today to try them out and they lived up to the hype. As I mentioned above Creole Kings is located inside the Oaks mall food court area. You can't miss them. They have a large sign and a good location in the middle. The menu was large with some great poboy options and fried seafood baskets. They also have beignets and other small desserts. It was cool being in the food court and hearing other people walk by and talk about this spot in excitement, since it is unique and different spot to traditional food court style foods. I love fried catfish and knew this had to be my first dish to try from this spot. The young gentleman that rang me up at the register was very friendly. There were some small glitches with their online system, but it took one of the other team members just a minute to help the young guy and then we were on our way for me to place my order. He was very polite and nice. He took down my name to call out when my order when it was ready and then I stepped aside and waited. The good news is that their seafood is fried up fresh and made to order. So for food court type meals, I would say this takes a little bit longer than some of the other stalls, but it is well worth the wait and you are getting fresh and delicious food. I didn't mind the wait but just acknowledging it does take a couple extra minutes. Once my order was ready, they called out my name, and I took it to one of the nearby tables. Another pro tip and recommendation is I do believe you need to eat this type of food fresh versus taking it to go/delivered. I don't think fried catfish hits the same when you eat it a while later. I know that my experience and the taste of the food was a 5/5 because I ate it right when it was ready, so I would recommend you grab a seat and enjoy. The fried catfish was delicious and some of the best I've had in the area. The batter was super crispy and flavorful, and the fish tasted very fresh, melt in your mouth. The fries were very well seasoned and perfectly crunchy. I love their remoulade sauce and definitely had to ask for an extra one because one would not be enough. It was truly a delicious meal and everything was super fresh and had great flavor. I also feel like the prices were reasonable for the amount of food I was given and I was able to take some home for leftovers because it was a good portion. I definitely think Creole King is a 5/5. The food was very tasty, the service friendly, and just the whole menu/concept is a breath of fresh air in this area. I highly recommend you come check them out and support this newer local business because they are doing a great job and I definitely can't wait to come back

Catfish Entree, Fried Okra

Yayyyyy a good bite to eat at the Oaks Food Court that's not your typical chain!! Don't get me wrong, I love a good Corn Dog on a Stick (you can spot one in my photo LOL), but it's so nice to see something fresh and new. You can tell they're a family-owned business by their friendly and welcoming service. We asked for the signature entree with catfish and a side of fried okra. We wanted our catfish fried but accidentally communicated that we wanted it grilled; the lady taking our order quickly stopped us and said "fried is better" -- we're so thankful for her honesty and glad she caught our mistake! Everything is made to order so our food took a little while, but we didn't mind as we were excited to try all the food. The catfish met our expectations :) Breading was crispy and full of flavor, and the actual fish was hot and flaky -- so so yummy. Sauces were great too and had the exact flavor profile I was looking for. I do wish the proportions of the entree were better; we devoured the catfish right away and were still left with a bunch of lettuce and fries. For $6, you get a lot of fried okra! It could have used a little more salt but it tasted great with the sauces. I'd definitely go back to try their beignets! Their peach cobbler ones look especially enticing :)

Delicious food, amazing portions. Loved my meal at this locally owned, chef curated restaurant. I am vegan and it can be hard to find options for fried food that I'm able to order out when dining. This restaurant is vegan-conscious while providing absolutely delectable options. I had a cauliflower basket with bourbon sauce and okra. Cooked to perfection!! I use a lot of hot sauce and they gave me as much as I needed. This is New Orleans quality, very hard to find in California. The beignets were unbelievably good. What a treat!! I will be back and can say I highly recommend this as a lunch option for vegans and omnivores alike.

Beignets! Say less. This is what we came for... Find Creole Kings at the Food Court at The Oaks Mall... Definitely worth the wait for some hot, fresh, melt in your mouth pillows of goodness. You had me at Beignets, I'm a fan. I was in a happy place the entire time devouring these yummy beignets. There were gone in seconds. Since, the small order left us wanting more. Next time, I'm getting the large order!... We were on a time crunch & it wasn't quite dinnertime yet. Thanks to the friendly staff at Creole Kings, we Will definitely need to visit again soon & try the food :D

From the moment you walk in, that amazing smell hits you like no other! Marcus, the owner, treated us like you're a regular, even on our first visit. Marcus was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited about the menu. And the food? Absolutely next level. Marcus gave us samples of the chicken gumbo and from the moment it touched my tongue, I was sold. I got a 32 ounce Gumbo and let me tell you, it was plenty. Everything was perfectly seasoned and packed full with some much pride and flavor. You could tell Marcus and his wife are passionate about their business and the product they're putting out. In addition to the chicken gumbo, I got the cornbread with the honey butter. Let me tell you something, I must've died and went to heaven. One of my friends' grandmothers made corn bread back in the day and this made me think of those times. The cornbread wasn't dry and the honey butter just amplified it to the next level. My friends got the brisket po'boys and they were blown away by the flavor. The sandwich was packed full of brisket and was seasoned to perfection. We will definitely be back for another round as this was the best meal we've had in a while. Thank you Marcus!

I actually thought they were closed when I first got there but another customer went to the door and it opened. This place is setup to be for takeout.. I it's very small upfront, no frills, and that's ok by me. The menu was clear and had so many things that looked good the pictures sold me on the wings, unfortunately they didn't have them that day. Fried Chicken - 4 Star - I got two pieces. I am pretty sure they were deboned thighs. Seasoned and fried well with juicy meat and flavor in every bite. The fried batter texture is unique, very light and airy almost tempura-ish, but still crunchy, seasoned, and it highlighted the chicken rather then overpowering it. Shrimp Poboy - 4.5 Star - Absolutely nailed the shrimp on this one. Large, plump, seasoned and sauced exactly right letting that sweet shrimp meat really shine. The Cajun/Jerk Seasoning was great and the cabbage slaw took nothing away from it. The roll was thick so it held up very well, but it needed a bit more moisture to be perfect.

Due to a disability, I cannot go to pick up food, so while ordering for delivery isn't ideal it's my only option. My annoyance is that everything is a la carte; there's no way to order a complete seafood boil. On the bright side, it means that you're not paying for anything you don't want/can't eat. I ordered snow crab (steep at $33 for a "cluster" ie half body), corn, potatoes, sausage, and eggs. I ordered all in the same garlic butter sauce and had mild spice. In hindsight, I probably would have ordered a different seasoning. Everything came in separate bags. I also ordered a sheller as I didn't have one on hand - cheap at $2, but a janky piece of plastic without any clamping mechanism. The crab was great and decently meaty. I also loved the sausage, of which they gave me a TON despite me only ordering one link. I think they must have made a mistake with how much they gave me in my order. The potatoes were delicious and cooked well, as was the corn. Prices are (largely) reasonable especially for the area, but everything added up quickly and my total order was $54. Pretty steep for a dinner for one. I don't think I would order again for delivery, but I would consider going in person where I can specify that I want everything in the same boil.

That side is named Kusina Ni Kuya and has a vast catering menu. I came here for a carry out from the Cajun side and picked as I did before, the half pound shrimp. The only difference is this time, I opted for the peeled version. This was prepared in the house Kuya sauce, medium spicy, with an extra of boiled okra. The dish did not disappoint and was consistent in texture and flavor, and a glorious mixture of spices as before. This entrée has a lot of oil added to it, but that is what brings out this burst of taste and satisfaction. Everything was soaked with the thick sauce. This time what I did at home was, I boiled a few golden premium small potatoes with skin, sliced them into quarters and added it to the mix. Once it soaked up the gravy of the shrimp dish, the potatoes ascended to a totally different level. So how does the peeled version compare to the whole shrimp version? I would say that the whole shrimp selection is the way to go. The meat is not overcooked and you get the flavor off the shrimp shells too, that kicks it up more than a notch. In addition, the fact that you have to use your fingers to get to the shrimp meat (though messy), heightens the pleasure of the dining experience.

Not some sad, watered-down, reheated nonsense like other places try to pass off--I got REAL Cajun seafood. Properly cooked. Properly seasoned. Actually worth paying for. I ordered crawfish, clams, mussels, and head-on shrimp, and every single tray came out piping hot, drenched in that bold, garlicky, buttery sauce that hits you like a freight train. Not bland. Not timid. Not "lightly seasoned for the masses." No--this is full-flavor, unapologetic, get-it-all-over-your-hands Cajun. The crawfish? Seasoned all the way through, not just dusted on the outside like some lazy joke. Other spots--take notes. The shrimp? Perfectly cooked, heads packed with flavor. If you're scared of that, stay home and order chicken tenders. The clams and mussels? Clean, tender, not a single one questionable--which already puts them ahead of places charging MORE and serving LESS. And then the sides--this is where it gets ridiculous. Boiled okra, sweet corn, quail eggs, all soaked in that same sauce? That's not a side--that's a statement. Everything is absorbing flavor like it's supposed to. No shortcuts. No laziness. Just execution. And here's what really separates them from the clowns-- the quality never dropped. You keep ordering, they keep delivering heat. Same flavor. Same intensity. No "second round is worse" nonsense. That's what happens when a kitchen actually knows what it's doing. Meanwhile, other seafood spots are out here charging premium prices for bland, overcooked garbage and calling it "Cajun." Stop it. Just stop. This is how it's DONE. Messy. Bold. Loud. Flavor in your face. Hands covered in sauce. Zero regrets. If you leave Cajun Ni Kuya unsatisfied, don't blame the restaurant--blame your taste buds. I'll be back. And I'm bringing an appetite that's ready for war.
