My friend and I were in town and decided to try this pub for a meal, despite the reviews we had read. First off, I want to say that Craighead County is really hurting small businesses. In this day and age, who still limits the sale of alcohol? I wanted to bring in my zero-sugar root beer, but none of the businesses allowed it due to these outdated, prohibition-style laws. When we arrived, we were the only customers, so we were seated immediately. After placing our orders, we waited a reasonable amount of time before my friend's salad arrived. However, he barely got halfway through his salad before our entrees came out--way too soon! My friend had ordered bangers and mash, but we couldn't help but laugh when the food arrived. The bangers were so dried out, it seemed like they'd either been microwaved or left in the deep fryer for too long. The potatoes looked fine, but my friend said they were completely flavorless. I ordered fish and chips, and it was awful. The fries were lukewarm, the coleslaw had an overpowering horseradish taste, and the fish was so greasy I couldn't eat it. I had to pick out the fish with a fork and leave the soggy, grease-soaked breading behind. There was literally a pool of grease on my plate. The saddest part? My first bite, which had a bit of everything, actually tasted great--but that didn't last. Somewhere I read that the pub describes itself as "a pub, not a restaurant." Believe them. read more

I have never patron an Irish pub that only had one beer on tap, Guinness. Looked to be 20 taps that had no handles. Only explanation was that it didn't work. The only alternative was domestic, bottled beer. Now, having read the prior reviews I don't think this is a one-off situation where I would say "give it a second chance." read more

What a great time! Cregeen's seems to be moving away from an Irish-themed menu and incorporating more dishes from different cultures. Food was great and in generous proportions. Great staff and service. The space has several floors, with live music on the second when we visited; I'm not sure whether it's accessible to folks with mobility challenges. Very chill place staffed by amazing employees. Service so friendly and fast, I swear my pint was never empty great bartender. The fish and chips were good but my coworkers raved about the choice of shepherds pie but the duck wings were stellar. Duck seasoned , hot and so darn good. So... I'm sitting here now. I just finished a plate of Bangers and Mash, and now I'm nursing a double Wild Turkey on the rocks. Is this place spectacular? No. It's certainly not bad though. The food came quickly, and was seasoned really well. Waitstaff was very attentive. The place is almost empty on a Thursday, except for the regulars at the bar. It's not the 'cleanest' feeling, but it isn't supposed to be. It's an Irish pub, and a pretty damn good one considering this is Jonesboro. It's not a sports bar (go to Skinny's for that, I guess), and I don't feel like it wants to be. The background music is varied and good. Ambiance is cozy. Give it a try. read more

I normally don't give a negative review for a bar, but this place is shady AF!!! and we went upstairs and ordered three drinks and paid for them with my debit card. This morning I looked at my bank app, and found a $32 charge for the drinks. I called the bar and couldn't get anyone on the phone, so I went back in there today at about 4:40 PM. I simply wanted to know if 3 drinks cost $32, and since I didn't get a receipt, I wanted take sure they didn't charge me for someone else order. The bartender called the manager, but the person that waited on us was actually sitting at the bar while I was in there. He remembered me and told me we were charged extra because we opened a tab and didn't close it out. I told him that we paid for the order of drinks did not open a tab - because I don't ever do that. Either way he got super angry, asked how much I thought we were overcharged, and before I could answer anything to him, he threw a $20 bill at me. He wanted to continue to argue, and started getting loud, so I picked up the 20 said thank you & I don't need to talk about this any further and said that I wouldn't be back. I wasn't rude. I wasn't nasty, just came in to question a charge on my card, which is my right all I can say, is that if a bartender that obviously placed a fraudulent charge on my debit card whips out a 20 from his own pocket and throws it at the person questioning the charge..., is this something that happens frequently? Or is this one of the first times? They've actually gotten caught? Either way guys this place is shady and ya damn well better watch your credit card if you decide to go there. BTW, because I questioned the charge and told him that I wouldn't be back I was told that I was banned for life. They got very very loud, very disruptive and downright embarrassing. A big group of friends that I used to hang out with about 20 of us used to go into this bar about six years ago. It was the most awesome place. It was a true traditional Irish pub. They served a fat pint and it was very fun; it is definitely not that way anymore, it is very uncomfortable, and after being treated that way and told I was banned for questioning a fraudulent charge. They won't even have to worry about me stepping foot back in there. Stopped in for dinner after work, seemed like a good place to have dinner and a micro brew. The bartender let me sample a few if the drafts, and I settled on a Tiny Bomb American Pilsner, a Memphis local brew. I ordered the shepherds pie, at the bartenders recommendation (pictured). The best thing about the shepherds pie, in my opinion, is that it did not contain lamb. Other than that, I'd say that it was better than average - but not exceptional. My serving had too much salt and some other spice which I could not identify. Pros: * atmosphere. This definitely has an enjoyable brewpub vibe, with its large wooden pillars and loft seating; * draft selection. For a dry county, they had almost 30 beers on tap. That's pretty good; * service. Bartender was very helpful and cheerful. Cons: * the side salad. It's pretty bad. The version I had was full of stale lettuce and powdery cheese. Four stars for me. Requested Ommegang on tap, what shows up the following week? Ommegang on tap! Simply amazing and worth extra points for hands-on management. Cregeen's resides in a lovely building "Downtown" Jonesboro (as a goof we have begun applying Manhattan-based neighborhood names to Jonesboro, so please let people know Cregeen's is in "NoJo"; North Jonesboro of course. Just hope it will have a subway station of that name one day). The place is big, several levels of dining space and a number of great "snugs" upstairs. According to the menu some of the furnishings were imported from "Jonesborough" Ireland in County Armagh, a nice touch. Service is generally friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean. I like Irish pubs, this is the only one in town so I grade on a curve. Nice selection on tap, about 20 in all (did I mention Ommegang?). Food I have had here has been good, nothing extraordinary but certainly no bad experiences. As reflected in other reviews there is apparently some room for improvement. It's good craic! read more

The beer and music are pretty good. I came here with some friends and we listened to live music and played some cards against humanity that you can check out from the bartender. If you are going here during the summer, I recommend wearing footwear that covers your skin since the mosquitos are pretty bad at night since the town is surrounded by rice fields. I got 20 mosquito bites on my feet for wearing cute sandals to go out drinking on a Friday night. Brunch here was not my favorite, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and they forgot the bacon. I complained and two minutes later the server brought out my bacon that was curled up on a plate (it was clearly microwaved). I have never went back for brunch again. read more

Bad: flat beer, out of several draft beers, service spotty at best, at least one bartender asserted (on his own initiative) that he doesn't drink beer so he doesn't know anything about their selection. The real killer: it seems, more often than not, to reek of a combo of nacho cheese and vomit, with the bathroom being the worst. Three stars is a stretch -- guess I'm feeling generous because it seems like the kind of place I'd love, and because of that one time (of three visits) I did indeed really enjoy it. read more

Cool looking place with good selection of beer on tap. Feels like a real Irish pub inside and is the only place to get a good Guinness pour. Food is okay and typical bar food. For an Irish pub I had hoped for better Fish and Chips, but it is Jonesboro, Arkansas. Service is fair, even when slow. For now it's my go to place for Guinness and that's about it. Let's start this off on a positive note. It's great that Jonesboro finally has an Irish pub. They have Stella and Guinness on tap along with a few others, and it has your typical Irish pub atmosphere. From here on out it's nothing but bad. I was here with the wife and kid about 5pm this past Sunday. There appears to be a main level, an upstairs, and a sub floor which is were we got seated. I order a Stella (so stale even my wife noticed it) and the deep fried mushrooms, which were so hard they could have been lethal if you threw them at someone. The breading was worse than cardboard. I think we ate 2 or 3 of them and made fun of the rest. Then we put our dinner order in. In less than 5 minutes (yes, 5 minutes) we had our food, and while I like quick service, I want freshly prepared food. My wife got the chicken ceasar, which came out with no chicken. They quickly brought a plate of dry cut chicken out. They must have misunderstood her when she asked for the dressing to be on the side. The lettuce had brown on the edges. Totally unacceptable. For the boy we got a cheeseburger and fries. The burger was barely lukewarm. From the cheese on top and the look of the meat, it was apparent this had been cooked prior and was sitting out (you know the look of cheese on a burger when it's been sitting on your counter for an hour?). He did at least eat some of the fries, which were nothing special. I got the corned beef and cabbage. So I get cut cubes of corned beef (cubes? really? That was a first) that obviously came from a tin and some of the pieces had gray coloring, no sauce, and totally flavorless. The cabbage was boiled much too long and I wonder if they even salted the water. The mashed potatoes had a brown gravy and appeared to be real and not from a box. We looked at our plates for about 10 minutes, nibbled a few bites, before asking for the check. On a 38$ bill (we had to pay for memberships) I give the waitress 50$ and she proceeds to not give me any change until my wife goes to ask for it. So - stale beer, brown/graying food, not hot, and served within 5 minutes when they clearly were not busy enough for that type of turnaround. The place appeared to be clean enough from what I saw. If this is how they expect to get business, count me out. I've traveled all over the US for business and have been to more Irish pubs than I can remember, and this one is the bottom of the barrel. Not even having Guinness and Stella on tap and serving on a Sunday will get me back here unless I hear that the food somehow gets better. If I was to guess, this will become a booze/party place for the ASU kids who don't want to go to Brickhouse. read more

Great place if you're local or from elsewhere. Keep in mind, it is an Irish pub. Don't expect a refined fine dining restaurant - this is a place for good food, drinks, music and serious fun. read more

Cregeen's Jonesboro has completely turned itself around. The new management has really helped the place in the past year, and thank goodness! Their food has infinitely improved from where it was under the old GM (it was absolutely awful), and their beer selection is the widest in town, easily. Give them a try! read more

Lots of room for improvement on the food. I've been here twice; once the shepherd's pie was a bit bland, & on the other visit there was an aphid in my salad. I've had that happen with grocery store pre-packed lettuce, too, but ick. They get points for atmosphere, having Woodchuck cider on tap, & being relatively unique in Jonesboro. So unfortunate. I was excited about eating and enjoying few Irish beers while I was in Jonesboro for work. 1/2 the draft beers were unavailable but I did ordered a beer, which came in a plastic cup. The pub was decorated nicely but was too filthy for me to want to order food. I had my beer and left. The bartender was nice and he shook my hand and we exchanged names. Too bad. read more

This place was an absolute disappointment, the service was selfish and drunk. We walked in with high hopes from reviews and got the complete opposite. We walked in got a table and waited 30 minutes before a waitress came to the table. We ordered and when they came back they forgot we even placed an order. We finally got our food and i will say the food was decent but the fries are "store bought then seasoned". The waitress never checked in on us nor bring our drinks so we sadly waited and ended up askeing for checks. 30 minutes later we walked to bar hoping for checks but no luck as the bartenders just both ended up walking outside to smoke rathan let us pay. We sat and waited at the bar as the wait staff just disregarded us and went on socializing with friends. This place was just far from what I expected, or simply the staff is failing its owner by being unaware or careless to its customers. They've recently changed management and the difference is pretty major. The food is significantly better, to the point where their pastrami sandwich is one of my favorite things in town. There was a time when I wouldn't have thought of eating at Cregeen's, and now it's one of my favorite places. I just hope people will give it another chance. read more
