I am writing this review to share my recent experience at TONICS and to highlight the…read moreunprofessional and discriminatory behavior of a front door Security staff member. Having visited this establishment over 50 times in the past, I have generally enjoyed my visits; however, I was taken aback by the incident that occurred. My friend and his family, have over 25 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, have been previous owners and operators of multiple establishments, was denied entry due to his physical disability resulting from scoliosis and mobility challenges!!! The doorman, a dark haired caucasian male in his mid-20s to early 30s, judged my friend's walking style and wrongfully assumed he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Despite my attempts to explain my friend's physical condition in a respectful and cordial manner, the doorman remained closed-minded and did not seek further clarification from management or someone above him. Consequently, we were all barred from entering TONICS due to this staff member's discriminatory actions. It is particularly disheartening to note that my friend has never faced such issues in any other establiahment in Kelowna before, but experienced similar discrimination on 2 previous occasions at TONICS. I urge potential visitors to consider this experience carefully, as you may encounter profiling and discrimination at TONICS that could leave you feeling devalued. Kelowna has many more food and beverage establishments that will show you respect and value your patronage, you may prefer to attend one of those locations.

Server we had was extremely nice and good at her job! She came by to check on us tons despite the rooftop being extremely busy! Only complaint I have is the music on the patio was ridiculously loud when we went? We were a group of young people who like to party but the music was so loud we practically had to yell at each other across the table. I noticed each table around the bar had a massive speaker directly above it which probably was the main issue. Overall this is a great spot for some drinks on a rooftop patio and some casual food if you are hungry as well!

The chicken and potatoes were crispy, poached eggs perfectly done. The blue cheese and cucumbers(?) really enhanced the flavour, but there seemed to be very limited amounts of blue cheese. Their vibe is "hip hop industrial" and the tunes are bumping even during breakfast! The space is open, warehouse with medal and wood fixtures and tables. It still managed to be cozy, helped by the warmth inside relative to the cold deluge outside. We ordered an eggs Benedict to nosh while sipping out drinks of choice (espresso martini for me and a Caesar for my fried) and were both very happy with our cocktails. The eggs Benedict was alright, but oh my, the side of potatoes was amazing! We fought over the crispy well seasoned morsels until the waiter broke us up by removing the plate. Overall, fun vibes and solid cocktails.

Our servers on both occasions were highlights, attentive yet also leaving us be. Last night it was just K and I and the previous visit there were five of us outside on the patio. The space is nicely decorated but has no real charm or ambiance, which is understandable in a big hotel. The menu is extensive enough that you should be able to find something to meet the needs of your palate while here, but there are many choices within walking distance that may be a better choice of you are looking for a specific culinary experience. If you don't want to leave the hotel, you shouldn't be disappointed with your choice. Our food while not amazing during each visit was solid, and well presented. It might be a little on the higher end cost wise, but what isn't these days. Given all the choices in the neighbourhood within a short stroll, you may want to explore, but also understand the best choice might be in the hotel you're staying at.

Our lunch at the Kelowna Moxies on Cooper was great this afternoon. The place was renovated in January 2022, so it's quite new and up to date with all the modern look you'd expect. Turns out, you can also expect a great meal with very good service that doesn't take very long. Our server was engaging, funny, and a Leafs fan. I guess you can't have it all lol. My Avocado Bacon Cobb salad was a departure for me, and excellent. The lovely K had the Pork Miso Ramen, which was also great. Only drawback for me, was that menu illustrated the dish with a runny egg, which was not the case. A small quibble perhaps, but a little detail like that tells you how close they got to making it perfect. We'll most certainly be back!

The chicken lettuce wraps are from the appetizers but I was full by the end of it and they were so flavourful even without the sauce (but I'm a sauce boss and loved the sauce on top too) We ended on a great big slice of mocha ice cream cake and lemme tell you this cake rivals my favourite Dairy Queen ice cream cake
