I really miss this place after having moved back to NYC. I used to go on the mountain drive then stop here for lunch - a wine tasting or just a couple glasses of the robusto red (so spicy and delicious) and DEFINITELY the antipasto board. That thing is one of my favorite lunches I could even imagine, being a spicy/olive/cheese lover. Absolutely fabulous from beginning to end. We talked our winery tour driver into making the 30 mile trip instead of two more strip mall tasting rooms and it was SO worth it. The setting is beautiful, next to the snowy creek. Wine was fabulous, (albeit slightly overpriced) and the food was even better, stuffed cherry peppers, butternut squash soup & cheese board... Mmmmm. Service did not pail in comparison either :-) When we were finished indulging our very friendly server gave us a loaf of focaccia bread to feed the ducks off the dock. I reluctantly decided to go with the daily special which I often find disappointing. Not the case today at creekside with the talapia asparagus plate. It was very fresh tasting and brought out in a timely manner. The house chard was a nice complement as well. If I had to pick a negative it would be a lack of outdoor seating for the weekend rush. The best tomato bisque soup and grilled cheese Ive ever had! I eat here once a year when I visit family in evergreen during the holidays. The first time I went there I didnt order the grilled cheese but I saw someone who had it and knew that the next time I came I would get the grilled cheese. That next year I got it and it was amazing and I cant wait until Im out there in 2 more months. They have different soups everyday so you have to call to find out what they are. Im not a wine drinker but my mom felt obligated to get a glass when we went in there because I think its more of a wine and cheese place than a soda and grilled cheese place but there food is good and its a cozy atmosphere with new art that they have for sale on the wall each year. I really wanted to try this place but unfortunately when we arrived at 3:27pm on Thursday we were informed that due to slow business they had closed at 3. There we were ready to spend our money and we were tuned away 2 hours before closing hours. The lady was not very friendly. We tried again at 11:30 the next day to find that the same lady lacking in hospitality told us they aren't doing tastings but for $16 we can have 3, 2 ounce glasses of wine. All in all it was an uninviting experience. I don't feel I should have to work harder to give them business than they give customers. After that we felt t was not worth our effort. Lots of places are warm and welcoming and offer free tastings. And if I am going to spend $40 for a bottle of wine you can at least let me taste it before I buy it. I don't like to be harsh on business during Covid but it felt like we were the ones who needed to earn the privilege of tasting their product and that is just not the welcoming atmosphere I was looking for. read more

We were going to make a special trip (1 hour) to come here, but thankfully we had errands down this way so we decided to try this winery / cafe on the way home. On a winter day, we were told that there was a 45 minute wait to sit outside - which really is the draw here. I found it to be overpriced. I got the fig & prosciutto sandwich which was good but some bites were just WAY too salty - and yes; I love both fig & prosciutto. My husband got a sandwich that I think was turkey + avocado and then excessive bread. The roll was massive - the bread to meat ratio was way off; and yes - he's a guy who loves sandwiches. We love wineries and found the wines to be enjoyable, but not worth getting a bottle... we always get bottles when we visit a good winery. Personally, we won't go back. read more

Sunday, October 19th a group of 6 lady friends and I planned to visit Evergreen's Creekside Cellars Winery to celebrate a birthday of one of the group. With the Rock & Roll Marathon going on that morning in Denver we found ourselves 30 minutes late to our reservation for 11. Keeping that in mind, we simply asked the Host, an older balding man with a short white beard, to seat us wherever was best. He placed our group in the corner outside on the balcony. It was delightful! The air was cool, the sun was warm and we had a lovely time. Our server was prompt and we lacked for nothing ordering appetizers, wine, and then lunch. The wine was good and went well with the lunch options of salads, sandwiches, and soups. Select the half order if possible for sandwiches for they are quite large. It was directly after lunch that our picturesque lunch promptly came to a horrible end. Having never been here before this was my introduction to this winery/restaurant. But many of the other ladies within the group had been coming to Creekside Cellars for years. We had just ordered from our nice server desert when quite suddenly the Host appeared at our table. As he stood over us all, he informed us that in 5 minutes there was a 1 o'clock reservation and we would need to hurry up. He then turned on his heel and left us all stunned. What had just happened we asked ourselves? I was told from the veterans of the table that he is always rude and to just take him with a grain of salt. But when he arrived 15 minutes later as we were eating our desert it became impossible to do so. He again told us there was a 1 o'clock reservation and all the party's members had arrived. He said we must hurry up and leave. Feeling more than just no longer welcomed we all starred up at him and watched him again leave our table. Our desert was bitter in mouths after that. However, it quickly turned to a sour feeling in our stomachs when the Host then pointed our table out to one of the waiting party members who came to our table to speak with us. By then we had just asked for our bill and was waiting for it to arrive. The lady whose birthday it was is also a veteran customer of Creekside Cellars. She was so sad and angry by her treatment tears were springing to her eyes. For there, completely unoccupied in the other corner of the balcony was an empty 6 top table. The restaurant/winery was no longer in a lunch rush. Why would the Host refuse to seat them there? The future customer rudely spoke to us about wanting our table, telling us we were ruining she and her group's experience. We informed her she had already done that for us and asked her to leave us alone. We had to ask her repeatedly to walk away, to leave before she finally did so. It took some time for our receipts to arrive to the table where we informed our server about the Host and future customer. Eventually, we spoke to the Owner of Creekside. An older man as well. He did not offer us any concessions. Speaking very softly he weakly apologized and made excuses for his Host's actions. It was busy that day. Servers had become delayed arriving to work due to the marathon. The Host was under a lot of pressure, etc. And he refused to believe we had seen the Host point out our table and allow a future customer to come to our table. He would not believe the Host had done anything wrong. And he offered us nothing in the way of getting us to return. I've never been treated so poorly at a restaurant/winery in my life. I will never return. This Host badly needs to be fired. The Owner needs to hire a manager and step down from floor activities since he is unable to properly manage his employees. Save your money. While the food is fine and the wine is good. It is neither worth the pricy price tag nor the insulting experience. Bottomline: Avoid Evergreen's Creekside Cellars Winery. Enjoy another one of Evergreen's many restaurants instead. read more

We sat on the patio for my mother's 50th birthday lunch and it was a gorgeous view. Looks over the river, and the trees surround the area are beautiful. The wine was pretty good. We ordered a few bottles of Rose and I wish they would have put some ice in the bucket the put it in because it got pretty warm really quick. Wasn't a fan of hot, rose wine. I ordered the half sandwich and salad, and the sandwich was massive. The GF bread was kind of dry, but it usually is. Should have gone with the soup for dipping. The salad was a little underwhelming. I got the roasted beet salad and it was just slices of beets with goat cheese on top of arugula. I don't even think it had any dressing. Overall, it was a great meal. My mom had a great time. Creekside Cellars, located in the heart of Evergreen, CO on Hwy 74 just steps away from the free municipal parking lot, isn't that impressive looking on the outside, but don't let that fool you. Once inside, it oozes charm and the staff is extremely friendly. Upon arrival there for lunch the four of us began by going to the tasting bar and sampling some of their outstanding wines that winemaker Michelle Cleveland had proudly created. They offer a wide variety of both red and white wines, but I really personally enjoyed the ROUSSANNE, a dry, yet soft white wine that was described as being a white wine that people who preferred red wine would like. That description turned out to be 100% accurate. It was delicious. Rather than eat inside on a gorgeous sunny early fall day, we ate out on the deck which overlooks the rippling waters of Bear Creek, and it was delightful. After everyone ordered a glass of the wine we individually preferred, we chose the HUGE Italian Antipasto Platter that was loaded with taste tempting delights. Then some of the foursome ordered the daily special sandwich, while I went for the Crispy Balsamic Glazed Brussels Sprouts. They were yummy ! It was a wonderful leisurely wine tasting and culinary adventure, and one that was guaranteed to make a person want to return. read more

My sister, niece and I visit Evergreen every year for the past several years to enjoy a spa day at the Tallgrass Spa on Upper Bear Creek Road. (Worth a trip!!!) We were there today and had lunch, as always, ate lunch at Creekside Cellars. We were more than disappointed at the lunch that we had there. Two of us ordered the Rosemary Chicken Panini. One of us ordered the Reuben Sandwich. The chicken on the pannini was pure white.... no seasoning at all. It was not grilled or otherwise seasoned and appeared to have been previously frozen. Completely tasteless and colorless. We asked for some balsamic dressing to try to "jazz" up the flavor but it was a bust. The Reuben was just o.k. Would not go back and will explore other options for lunch next time. read more

I visited this winery on a bachelorette party with 13 other girls. They accommodated our group wonderfully. We enjoyed a wine tasting and appetizers, and it made for the perfect afternoon. The Antipasto Platter and Cheese Board were phenomenal, and there wasn't a single wine that we tasted that we didn't like. The rose was definitely a favorite. Amazing food, however the service is the WORST service I have EVER experienced. Servers go out of their way to NOT speak to you, seat you. First off, let me say I am a SERIOUS wine enthusiast. With 2 trips to Europe, and 2 tours of Napa/Sonoma under my belt, as well as numerous local tours around the US, I have educated myself on the growing of wine grapes and their fermentation. Wherever I travel, I make it a point to check out the local wineries and sample whatever the region has to offer. I enjoy good wine! In early April I found myself in Denver, and after reading the Colorado wineries brochure and checking Creekside's website, put them on my list. I also brought my daughter-in-law to Evergreen for the specific reason of visiting this winery. We lunched earlier, so had no plans to eat from the menu. I was skeptical about the quality I would find in these wines, but I was immediately impressed with the wine maker behind the tasting bar, Michelle.It was SO REFRESHING to find an educated wine lover/maker who actually shared with us about the varietals and her thinking around their fermentation. A UCDavis grad with a great palate, she does not ferment in stainless steel. She is a believer in the Old World Style and with her reds, has embraced the Bordeaux varietals. She believes so much in them, she is fermenting them to stand on their own! So many times they are only valued for what they can bring to a blend- not so with Michelle! These wines have won medals all over the place, and I can sing their praises! Between the two of us, we sampled the flights and decided to sit on the beautiful patio over Bear Creek with our favs and a cup of soup (artichoke) and cheese tray. Really, I liked everything, but especially the Petite Sirah and the Cab Franc. My daughter-in-law loved the Temperanillo and had 2 glasses. Michelle brought out a barrel draw of the Petite Verdot, and it will be luscious when it is bottled this fall. Coming from a Carmenere, Malbec and Monastrell fan, these reds are a real treasure. How rare to find OAK anymore, yes OAK! Give me more! I only wish they could ship to Florida. Guess I will have to return in June, and have had to promise to bring my husband this next time! read more

This is one of my favorite places in Evergreen. My only complaint is that they close around 5pm so I can only dine there for lunch. This is a wonderful place to come on a warm sunny day- you can sit outside, sip wine on the outdoor deck and watch the ducks play in the stream. Sometimes Elk are present and it makes for a fun afternoon. Usually I come and meet my girlfriends out for lunch here. Also we have come after working out and we have never experienced any issues of snobbiness because we aren't dressed up. The food is really good here but my favorite is the Turkey sandwich. The portion is huge just for the half so I bring the other half to my husband and he gets lunch too. I love the wine here - Viognier and the Cab Franc are my favorites. Try a flight and order the Antipasto platter - it's huge. This is such a great spot. It's great for a date, a girl luncheon and meeting friends. They even have a small barrel room for events. read more

The place is small, yet cozy. Keep in mind people are drinking, so they are loud and talk about pretty crazy things (I tried to ignore, but again, they are loud). The staff....well....they are very nice but VERY slow. I didn't even get a refill on my water. We hardly saw the server, not even taking care of other patrons, so not sure what she was doing exactly. They get into each other's space in an effort to take care of everyone, but I find that rude. They don't seem to have definite roles (a sign that no one has taken charge, not good). The wine is ok for the price. I've definitely had better. The anti-pasta plate was good and filling. Here are some suggestions, just in case someone cares and reads these reviews. The bread that you provide, shouldn't be as hard as a rock. Now, if you insist on this type of bread, then at least cut it up in slices, because for us to cut it up on the handle of the board you deliver it on, isn't easy and messy and honestly, I didn't want to bother. It would've been nicer to have different crackers to go with the different cheeses and meats. That way you could do some pita chips to go with the hummus, otherwise, don't see how the hummus fits in. I gave it 4 stars because it was alright. The menu needs tweaking, I don't care for paninis. That's just me. Wine is so yummy with pasta, seafood, and steak, why serve it with salads and sandwiches? Seems like a waste. Want to visit again when the specials are running because they do take it up a notch. Plus we love that it is by the Creek and close to our home. :) read more

We had the best lunch today at Creekside. A friend recommended we try this place for the wine. We decided to stay for lunch after looking at the menu. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wines, so we followed her recommendations. We were not disappointed with the Rousanne and Cabernet Franc she recommended. I am a local and will not ever go in there again. I bring guest and company there many times a year all though it can be a bit pricey. My guest and I were approached by the owner that our tab was quit spendie as we had been there for over 6 plus hours catching up talking eating and having 4-5 wines a piece. He offended us that we had to much to drink....we were there for nearly 7 hours with a ton of food and less than a wine per hour per person. Our tab was huge as we expected (they are pricey) as we caught up on life. In the future we will spend hundreds of dollars to catch up on life elsewhere. read more

The food here was amazing, on food alone I'd give this place 5 stars. However, on wine and service I give it 2 stars. I ordered the dessert wine flight, moscato is my absolute favorite and my go to. The flight comes with 4 moscatos. However, the moscato was not even sweet, dessert wine should be SWEET. I tried each wine on my flight and just could not drink it. My server never noticed that I wasn't drinking my wine, that is how inattentive she was. The lady working the bar came up and offered me another glass of wine because she realized i wasn't drinking, I declined and said I only like sweet moscato but that their moscato was not sweet, she looked at me and said yes they are very sweet and walked away. As a paying customer for a place that is a bit pricey I found her behavior very rude. Needless to say I will not be coming back. read more

On our first afternoon in Evergreen we happened onto this small place, just looking for a beer or glass of wine. Too late for lunch for us, but we tried the meat/cheese/bottle of wine combo -- and came back soon! On the second visit, scored a creek-side table & it was perfect -- for sharing another "wine board" with our daughter (adult) and then lunch. We will return next time we visit.
