The brewery is located in the old Snow Tire location, and they have left a lot of the outdoor signage in place, which is pretty neat being Snow Tire was such an iconic location downtown. The inside is wide open with numerous picnic tables for seating and is perfect for a private event. There are 2 bar locations with the available beers on tap. In the back of the building is where the brewing equipment is located and is obviously off limits to the public except for during the tours which takes place 30 after opening and 30 minutes prior to closing. I love coming here! It's always so chill and you learn SO much. The staff is so friendly. We came today from 4-7 for the farmers market and it was nice to bring my baby and enjoy it all. I enjoyed the local food while my family enjoyed the beer, so we were all happy! It's a great place to meet up with people and just casually relax without loud music playing in the background. It seems kid friendly during the day considering I wasn't the only mom with a little one. (I wouldn't suggest bringing your kids to get wasted, but it's good for moms who want to come to the farmers market). This isn't a place for "raging" if you're scared of that kind of thing. It has a small-town feel and an eclectic atmosphere. Also it was featured in the Avengers movie so that has to tell you something. Great place. I think very highly of Creature Comforts and love their beer...not only is it the best brewery in Athens, but it is the best brewery in the state and the case could be made that it is one of the best in the country. I was a student and finishing up my time in Athens when they first opened and ever since they have taken off and in some places near Atlanta, it can still be difficult to find their beer (tropicalia is a gold mine). They are opening a second location in downtown Athens that will primarily be used for production so this should remove this issue in the future. CCB was initially smart by starting off small and establishing four great beers instead of many average ones but over time they have grown and added many different options. One of my favorite things they have developed over time is their Get Comfortable initiative which helps support local Athens nonprofits. The actual tasting room itself is great and a beautiful space with a huge outdoor area beside the tasting room. Inside there are picnic tables that are very large and can support plenty of people. Dogs are unfortunately no longer welcome inside and only can be taken in the outdoor area. Below are my personal favorites at Creature and any time you are in Athens, this brewery is worth your time. Like others have mentioned -- this is a great brewery, good space, and a unique addition to the pub scene in Athens. The brewery itself is a pretty impressive operation and the taprooms are pretty packed with a good mix of people. The only drawback-- having only four or five beers on tap at a time (post-tap "mixed brews," like the pils+coffee, don't really count). If they had a bit more diversity that would be nice (e.g. A porter, a red ale, or a stout). Also-- even when looking at what they've previously offered in the cooler months, it'd be nice to see them try a lager... All that being said, coming from the Northwest, I have to say that the Tropicalia IPA could easily compare to some of the best IPA's we have out west (Ninkasi, Ballast Point, Gerogetown, Stoup, etc). CC Brewery has a really cool vibe but when it's jam-packed, it's chaos trying to figure out maneuvering in for ordering beer. I went with the recommended flight, and one of them tasted like a sour Smartie; maybe the kind of beer you'd drink in the summertime on the lake. When they reached full capacity, nobody else would be let in, and a line forming on the sidewalk would only let in guests as others left, so we were disappointed that only 3 of our party of 8 were able to actually make it in. Downed the flight and departed. But for my brief visit, managing to order beer was a little difficult, but ultimately the gal who poured was very friendly, and I would go back, but maybe when it's not mobbed. read more

Tropicalia is as good, or better than, any IPA I've had. It has a citrusy scent and taste. And it has just the right amount of thickness and sweetness. I used to drink it more often, but I'm getting old. So I only have one every now and then as a special treat. I've been here for brewery tours and tastings. I'm not sure if things are different now with changing beer laws. But, the times I've gone, you buy a glass and are issues 6 tickets on a wristband. You get a half pour per ticket. Just be sure not to tear the tickets off yourself. Let the bartenders tear them off. They always have their usual beers. But, they also always have something special on tap. One more thing... Ladies who don't usually drink beer may want to try Athena. It's a sour beer, which I'm it a fan of, but most of the women I know who have tried it seem to love it and describe it as tasting kind of like lemonade. read more

It's arguable, but Creature Comforts is probably the best brewery in Georgia and definitely one of the best in the southeast. If you could have literally everything go right with a brewery, you would get Creature Comforts. The beers are just phenomenal, whether it's their core beers like Athena, Paradiso, and Reclaimed Rye, to their seasonal offerings like Paradiso, Cosmik Debris, and Koko Buni. The brewery itself is very aesthetically pleasing, although it can be hard to appreciate when it's full of patrons, and it usually is. Being that it is located in a college time, it can become quite the bro fest pretty quickly, but good beer brings out all types of people too. The service is usually on point so you should have an enjoyable time every time you come in here. The brewery is also dog and family friendly so you can everyone with you to have a good beer. Since you are given a bracelet with tabs to be taken for samples the filling goes very quickly. great right till they really pack in the place and you cant move. I thought overall their beer is fine. Okay, this brewery is just the best. Ever. I did not like beer until I visited Creature Comforts. Tropicalia was my first experience here, and is still my favorite! Koko buni runs a close second for me, but any beer here is pretty dang good. I love the atmosphere at CC. There are a few wooden tables, and mason jars with flowers decorating the space. Dogs are welcome and are a wonderful addition for any visit. Some other perks include their 'curious Tuesday' event, in which they release a new beer only for that day for you to try! It's fun to go on weeks you can to get a one-of-a-kind drink. They always have events going on and live music sometimes. They support local artists and having showings sometimes, as well. One of my favorite things CC does is attach a 'go eat local' tab to your wristband. This tab allows you to get discounts at local restaurants around Athens! Great craft beers to try in the tap room or take home. Some weekends here are more crowded than others. I always take back a 6 pack or bottle with me because they are sometimes hard to find in Atlanta if it's a special release. I haven't been on a tour but I'm sure it's fun too. Creature Comforts has a great set up in downtown Athens. There is plenty of space both inside and out and it's dog friendly. It's easy to get to and within walking/stumbling distance of plenty of other bars and restaurants. They have a decent selection of beer. Taste in beer is subject to interpretation but chances are you'll be able to find something you like. I did. The only real negative is how payment and drinking system is set up. And it should be noted this is due to Georgia State law and they have no control over this. So I'm still giving them five stars because it is what it is. When you enter you pay upfront for a fixed amount of alcohol (I think it's about 3 pints) and you get a wristband with coupons on it. Each time you go to the bar they pull on of the coupons off. This is kind of a pain if you either want to drink more or just want to have one. But again, that's just how it is in Georgia. You do get to keep your glass which is nice. read more

Creature comforts is the best brew tour i've been on. They all are pretty similar, but our guide was so funny and informed. I wish there had been more beers to sample, you get 8 (i think) drink tickets on a bracelet, but there are only 4 or 5 to sample. As a yellow jacket alumnus, I will likely be tarred and feathered for reviewing a brewery in enemy territory. With that said, it was nice knowing you and your mouth watering amazing beer at Creature Comforts. With the number of options available to me in Atlanta, it seems unnecessary to travel the annoyingly hilly and horrendously stop-and-go traffic on 316 just to get to a craft brewery. However, after drunkenly ordering their Tropicalia at a bar in Atlanta, my mind was immediately changed. Creature Comforts is a relatively new craft brewery in Athens, second only to the behemoth that is Terrapin. Creature Comforts is located right downtown in Athens, but it's just far enough away from the slow poke families and frazzled students that you, an adult, can enjoy yourself. The brewery itself gives off an industrial feel, but the large wooden farm tables and the bar make it feel that much more comfortable. There's also an outdoor space, but who the heck has time for that in the hot summer sun? Yeah, no one, but it's there. The wristbands they give you are also great because instead of keeping track of physical tickets, they're attached to your wristband, so you'll never drunkenly lose them...again. There's even a special ticket that can be used for discounts at local Athens restaurants. Awesome! Now, let's talk about the beer. Oh, my. Oh. My. I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed every beer I tried. I would write a list of them, but I mean, I drank a lot, so the memories aren't all there. As it is at most breweries in the state, one ticket gets you a small pour, and two will get you a nearly full pour. I would highly suggest only using one ticket until the very end when you can get a full pour of your favorite. I can't recommend this place enough. It's cute, it's cool, and it rocks. We were visiting Athens and found this place. The building is awesome. I really like how they can open their front garage doors to let the breeze in when it's nice. Overall, the beer is awesome. I'm unsure who did their branding, but it's nicely done. They also have a local artist to come in and do their chalkboards were are impressive. A must go to for some craft brew. read more
