He lives in the area(ish) and recommended Trappeze Pub as a soliding dining option that is also very close to the venue and, having had a meal there, I can now corroborate that assessment. The space is quite big which made it super easy for us to grab a table. We were seated in a section of the restaurant with a bunch of booths so it was nice to have a quieter space where we could catch up with our friend and have a nice meal. For my dish I went with the grilled cheese BLT (muenster cheese with bacon, tomato, arugula and lemon thyme vinaigrette grilled on sourdough) and fries and I quite liked it! Nothing fancy but it was good and and I would absolutely try it again. Currently rocking the sober life so I can't speak to their beer line up personally but the menu did look quite robust! And as someone not drinking I must also recommend their root beer. Great casual spot perfect for a bite, a hang, or all of the above when hanging out around town.

The bartender greeted us when we walked in and let us know to order our food at the bar. She was friendly. We ordered an appetizer of fried cheese curds, two chicken parm melts, chicken tacos, Dooley drip, and a chicken tender meal. The total was $97 with sodas, $120 after tip. They brought out a chicken parm and chicken tacos first. I got the chicken tacos and noticed that they smelled really bad. I took one bite and couldn't decide if it was the chicken or the sauce that was so bad. They honestly smelled like somebody with terrible body odor. Two other people at our table tried it and nobody liked it. We only managed to eat one of the three tacos. Everybody was laughing that I picked the wrong entree. Then our appetizer arrived and later the rest of the food. The chicken parm melts also had a bad taste and smell. I ate a very small piece of chicken from the chicken parm and couldn't eat any more of it. Only half of one chicken parm melt was ate between the three people that tried it. The Dooley Drip was liked and ate along with cheese curds. Unfortunately our son didn't try his chicken tenders as the other chicken didn't taste good. After we had given up on the chicken parm's, the tenders and the tacos we mostly just snacked on the fries. We did take the left overs home thinking that we may eat them later but while walking to the vehicle everybody agreed that they weren't touching them so we tossed them in a trashcan.

Their bartenders know what they're talking about. They got a great collection of scotch, whiskeys and beers and it's pretty spacious inside. The only drawback to this place really is Parking but if you get creative, it's pretty good. If anything, it looks a little sketchy from the outside given the bars on the window, but it's not a sketchy place at all. Believe me when I say this. I stopped in on a Monday night for a nightcap. It was nice and quiet, which is exactly what I was looking for that particular evening, the following day being a travel day for me. As you can see from my pics, it's a nice little place. Drink prices were very reasonable, and the bartending was very good, too. I will happily stop in again when I return to Athens next year. Cheers!
