I have to be honest with you (like I'm not usually?), this review is causing me some discomfort…read more None of it is due to Porter Paints. It's all me. Let me explain. Last summer, I was charged with the duty to paint our guest room. We chose a beautiful deep, dark red color. So far, so good. Of course, I immediately went to the store that our professional painter used when he painted every other room in our house a few years ago. I asked Mike why he used Porter Paints. He said, "I don't know anyone better." That sold me. This is quite a store. Solely devoted to paint and those who paint, it is very big (I think). Whatever you need, they've got it. Naturally, I must have looked like a deer in the headlights as soon as I walked in, because the employees noticed and immediately knew that I needed assistance. I appreciated that, even though I felt out of place surrounded by professional painters all of whom knew what they were doing. I was armed with my trusty colored swatch, so I wasn't completely naked. Mary was able to provide me with the service, advice and discount I needed to complete my task of painting the guest room that day. It didn't take long. Before I knew it, I had a roller in my hand and was barking out orders to my friend, Steve. As we initiated our task, we slowly and methodically made our way around the room from top to bottom on each wall. So far, so good. They we had to put the second coat on. Everything went well until the very end. Steve managed to over-do the strip next to the door which created a three-dimensional paint blob. By this time, it was late, so I told Steve that he could go (before he could do any more damage). I got out the sander and delicately sanded the area with the blob. It looked pretty good until I painted it again. The color we chose is very tricky. It changes shades with each coat. I did the best I could with the blob. Then I noticed all the paint marks on ceiling at the corner of where the wall meets the ceiling. OMG! What a chore. The only solution I had was to cover up the paint with plaster. It worked, but it was tedious and took forever. Needless to say, it is now day two. I finished the ceiling touch-up when I noticed an oval-shaped area near the window (in plain sight) that was missing most of the second coating. Oh boy! I got out my finest brush and went to work. I held my breath and I prayed very hard for this attempt to succeed. Guess what happened? To this day, if you stare straight at the oval area, it's now a big circle of another shade of red! UHHHGGG! I feel like Charlie Brown! Darn it all. My wife keeps reminding me of the faux-pas and I just keep saying that I'll get to it, which means that I have to paint the entire room over again - I don't think so. I hope that you can feel my pain. I think that we all have our "painting" stories. But, don't allow this to reflect on the 4 star rating I gave Porter Paints. It's not their fault. Next time, I'm going to hire my friend Mike again. I'll let him worry about the dreaded OVAL!

They…read morehave every kind of paint, every supply possible to need, every color imaginable, ever texture. It will overstimulate the paint part of your brain. The store is bright, clean, and well run. The people are nice and chat while prepping things. It's one of the best places i've found for buying large scale brushes that are of high enough quality that bristles don't escape in to your wet paint. I suggest, if you're working on a project, that you pop in here before you go somewhere like lowes. Its slightly more expensive, but you're getting more bang for your buck.

I needed some glossy, black spray paint for my 'looks like new' kitchen table and chairs. I walked down to Sherwin Williams on 5th Ave. and bought what they had-some cheap-o brand of paint. Whatever, it was on sale and I didn't know any better. As it turned out, the cheap-o brand (I honestly don't remember the brand) had a pretty poor spray nozzle. I returned the unused bottles and purchase 5 new ones. They were about a dollar more each, but worth it. One this return trip I decided that it was time to paint my office. I didn't matter what color, just something different. In the back, right corner of the store, there are cans of returned paint. Quarts and Gallons are priced at $5 and $10 respectively. I grabbed a boring gray one, that I new I could easily accent with some randoms I had a home. That, by the way, is my little secret shared with you. Bargain paint for $10! On Saturday February 3rd of 2024 I sent in one of my contractors to the Sawmill, Ohio location and he purchased $461 of primer and paint. He was given the wrong color and returned to the store to fix this issue. The clerk said it wasn't her fault, that the Sherman-Williams catalog is wrong and she refused to correct the problem. He was told he needed to leave or else the police would be called because he demanded she fix her mistake. The clerk then proceeded to say she felt uncomfortable and since there wasn't a manager on duty she would not do anything. Unbelievable! My contractor left the primer and color inside the store, went out to his car and called me. I proceeded to call the police myself. When the police arrived, the employee continued to blame the machine and said she wasn't authorized to fix the color or refund the product. She admitted to giving the contractor the wrong color but refused to fix the issue. For many years I have been sending my contractors and sub contractors to Sherman-Williams for all our paint needs. My company, my contractors and sub contractors are all extremely disappointed at the way this was handled. There is no excuse for this kind of outrageous treatment of a paying customer. I demand a refund and an explanation! Something must be done to resolve this issue and to make sure it doesn't happening to anyone else. Ok these guys are not as cheap as your wife's Brother In Law's cousin but…read more..... This is the 2nd time in as many years that we used them. This time it was a rush situation for our Open House. They sent "Lon" out. Hope that was his correct name and this guy was as good or better than the two guys who came out 2 years ago. Very conscientious , helpful and really helped us cover my Buckeye Scarlet And Gray room back to a attractive, sellable bedroom. A light neutral color, he had to work to cover the Scarlet. Sadly he did a great job no more Buckeyes but a great 3 BR Condo in Grove City For Sale. I need to mention that originally I contacted Jenifer in her office her guys were booked and she apologized. On her OWN time, she checked some of her other offices, and found Patrick who got to us quick and got us done as promised. They came back to repair the damage and ended up painting my deck THE WRONG COLOR. The deck was green. My fence is the white color you see. So...he sort of painted it white but I guess he got tired around the railing spindles. I am awfully mad because I paid them money to come back and FIX THE WORK THAT SHOULD HAVE LASTED more than a couple years, right? I guess the joke's on me.
