What a dope hidden gem in KC. It's tucked between a record shop and a cool boutique, by the way. I came in for a mani and pedi to celebrate my birthday. As a guy who only does this maybe once a year, I was a little nervous about what to expect. I like to be expressive, but nail polish isn't usually my thing (though I do love textured finishes), so I usually just go for the basics with a buffer. This time, I brought in some clear and black design ideas, and Irena did an incredible job! She made me feel completely comfortable and confident doing something that felt a bit vulnerable. This is my second visit to this salon. (See pics from first visit) I should've learned my lesson the first time, when it looked like a six-year-old did my nail dip... But I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and a second chance. Needless to say, lessons were learned... I came here to get my nails done before a work event, they talked me into doing acrylic (which I'm not a big fan of), saying "it will make your nails stronger & it dries faster". The acrylic was too thick and felt lumpy, and 4 nails chipped off in less than four days, so I went back to get it fixed. (see pic with missing nails) The technician tried to talk me into leaving the acrylic on my thumbs, (because those were the only fingers that the acrylic hadn't chipped off of)... I said "no, I would like you to redo all of it". Now, to top it all off, my nails are thinner because I've had to have them filed down & redone multiple times in less than a month. They did not charge me for fixing my nails, thankfully, but here I am three days later and the dip that I got done is chipped off on three of my nails. I am beyond frustrated, extremely irritated, and really just want ALL of my money back. If I had a Time Machine, I would've never gone to this location in the first place. That's what I get, I suppose. **For reference, I would like to say that I get my nails done regularly, (every 2 to 3 weeks at a salon in Shawnee, since before COVID), and I have N E V E R had this many problems back to back.** I will never be coming back to this location & and I recommend you don't even waste your time. honestly, one star seems generous. read more

I have found my new nail salon. I arrived for my appointment and there was no wait time. It was great to see the relationships the nail techs have with their returning customers. My last place never remembered me despite going there for YEARS. The massage chairs were also amazing and heated. Big plus in my book. As someone who gets their nails done very often, I like to try new spots. I decided to walk-in after work and was immediately attended by Tina, which happens to be the owner. Usually they're appointment based she said, but was able to take me in. She was very sweet and polite and her work was extremely fast. I got dip on my natural nails and I think the prices were great. My mom has known Tina for 14 years and I started going to her as well in high school. Her and her sister always takes care of us so well! My mom has been disable for the past 5 years and Tina has always accommodated her so well and can still do a perfect French on her shaky hands! We went 9 mo without seeing Tina when she moved locations and my moms big toenails started growing weird. It looked like a huge acrylic nail on it. We will never go that long without seeing her. She is our lady! And she does so good with kids, too. My 7 year old daughter loves them! My son sat with us for 2 hours, watching tv and didn't complain once. read more

I was visiting Kansas City on a trip with a tangential trip to Las Vegas with my boyfriend. I had some down time and figured I'd try to find a spot to get my nails done. I called Creative Nails asking if they take walk-ins. Although they didn't, they said they had an opening in an hour. Since I had some time to kill, I headed there early to grab a chai tea from a nearby coffee shop and just relax. When I tell you this is a family friendly atmosphere, that would be an under-statement. It's run by 2 Vietnamese sisters and their mom. Everyone knew them by name and you could tell that their clientele were regulars and the owners just wanted to care for them and do it well. I walked away with an amazing acrylic manicure and regular pedicure. My feet are so soft and everything they did was immaculate and done with TLC. If only I could convince them to move to Denver and I would go there all the time. read more

I really REALLY wanted to be able to leave a good review because the woman was so nice but I am actually pretty angry right now. I went and got a full set with gel polish Saturday. I am in town on business and damaged my last set of gel nails lifting my luggage off the baggage claim carousel and needed something to hold me over until I got home to my usual salon. The good thing she did, which made me want to leave a good review, was free sculpt me a new middle finger nail because mine was almost completely torn off with my previous set a couple weeks prior (I was letting my nails heal for two weeks). I am in town on business and damaged my last set of gel nails lifting my luggage off the baggage claim carousel and needed something to hold me over until I got home to my usual salon. Unfortunately, the bad majorly outweighs the good. First, she only used one layer of acrylic, these nails are almost as brittle as my natural nails and I can tell they are going to break soon. Second, after telling her the length I wanted and getting the pinky length correct, she proceeded to cut the rest of my nails WAY shorter! I let that slide because I get my nails short sometimes as well and didn't want to make a fuss. Lastly, this was the kicker, she was obviously rushing and didn't have me keep my hand in the light to cure the gel polish under the top coat long enough so a few hours later when they really set I guess, I noticed a few of the nails had air pockets. Then tonight (Monday), when I got out of the shower I noticed one of the layer of top coat on my nails had completely peeled back and the black color that was still wet under was getting all over my towel!! I noticed two other nails are now "burst" and I had to do damage control by filing them down and putting a lacquer top coat on to tide me over until I get back to my hometown to my usual lady. Do NOT go here. I really wish I could get a refund, I could do better myself and I'm not even a professional and this woman claims to have had this business for over 20 years. She obviously just didn't care to give me good service if she's that experienced. I even paid a deposit for the appointment (that didn't go toward the nail set or get refunded it) and I left a good tip of almost 50% (because I have worked tipped services so I get it). I do not understand why I got such a bad service. read more

What a wonderful place to get your nails done in midtown! The two sisters that run this shop are amazing individuals who make you feel like you are the most special person in the room. I go there because they do a beautiful job with my nails, but also because the environment is so relaxing and comfortable.
