This is a local ice cream shop that uses all local ingredients that are organic and all natural.  They usually have around 8 flavors, a few of the flavors are typically consistent while  remaining flavors change daily.  Two flavors are usually dairy free.  The flavors are seasonally based.  They allow taste tests, so feel free to branch out and try something that you would normally not.  My favorite was blueberry crisp, it tasted just like blueberry pie ala mode and it was delicious! We were referred to this place by a few locals, including our waitress who offered us dessert at her restaurant.  When we told her we were going to try Cream Bean, she immediately told us to stick with our plan instead of ordering dessert from her.  Although a bit pricey, $24 for 4 cones, two single scoop two double scoop, it was more than worth it.  The quality was high and the flavors were remarkable.  We stayed 3 days in Durango and every day we made sure to visit for some daily ice cream.  They do run out of there rotating flavors, so what you see one day may not be there the second day.  They said you can keep up with the flavors on their FB page, but I found this information not to be accurate.  They also offer their own waffle cones, which were excellent as well.  The Durango Downtown area is a nice place to walk around and shop.  Across the street from Cream Bean is Carver Brewing, which serves excellent food.  You can really enjoy a nice evening in the area and enjoy some great ice cream at Cream Bean. read more

Ohhh ice cream, how can I not love you??? But this ice cream is definitely superior to your basic ice cream. Coming from the Pacific NW I thought I could never enjoy "local handmade unique" ice cream again (Salt and Straw!!) but alas, I stand corrected! Cream Bean Berry is a cute little shop in cute little Durango, so basically it's got the adorbz factor going for it. The shop has some nice table and counter seating as well as a toddler counter which seals the adorbz status. They also get a lot of natural light which is always a plus when there is not outside seating. They have about 8 flavors to choose from which they (apparently) change regularly. They also have some dairy free options for those lactose folks. I got the salted caramel (I can't refuse it!) and my boo got the lavender honey. Both were creamy and sooooo good. YESSS! Unique, creative flavors and a revolving menu. Came here around 1PM and I had Honey Lavender while the fiance mixed strawberry balsamic and basil. We both fell madly in love with the honey lavender, while the strawberry balsamic and basil made for an interesting and refreshing combination. Imagine having cold, creamy, sweet pesto and fruity wine for dessert. I don't really know how else to explain it. We did sample all flavors, and you really can't go wrong here. You can taste every ingredient in the ice cream, I swear I even tasted grass notes from the milk/cream. When we returned around 7PM (don't judge me, try this place and you'll do it too), they had swapped out 3 or 4 flavors. Just when we were heartbroken they didn't have any more honey lavender, we found a pint in the freezer. Oh noes, now we have to eat a whole pint! How... terrible and inconvenient... I really should have purchased all remaining pints so nobody else would have to suffer the terrible inconvenience. Alas, we were headed home to New Mexico and didn't have the means to transport the creamy goodness. Cream Bean Berry is a gem, you must go now. Sure, it may be a little pricey compared to big-brand competitors, but it's worth every penny. Artisanal ice cream at it's finest - just a handful of flavors per day with a frequent rotation of novelty flavors you'll never find anywhere else. The coconut milk chocolate is seriously some of the best chocolate ice cream I've ever eaten. They also have lots of homemade baked goods for sundaes and ice cream sandwiches. The even have gluten free cones, which made my partner the happiest person alive since she got to eat an ice cream cone for the first time ever. This is the best small town ice cream place that I e ever visited. I love that they often have samples of other products and they always let me try the flavors first to know exactly which one I want to buy. I also like that they rotate flavors every once and a while so there is always something new for me to try when I come to Durango. Today I got the peppermint bark and it was AWESOME. I love me some ice cream. I travel a lot for work and try to find a local ice cream dive to try out. I thought the liquid nitrogen Dutch chocolate sea salt out of Washington DC was the best I've ever had, especially since it was made right in front of me with fresh ingredients.... that was until I found this gem. I ordered the vanilla bean and Belgian chocolate. With my first bite I was hit with the perfect texture and an abundance of flavor. Following a disappointing dinner at a nearby restaurant, we decided to treat ourselves to Cream Bean Berry and were pleasantly surprised (considering we went in on a whim without bothering to look at Yelp beforehand). We'll be visiting again next time we're in Durango. Environment: This establishment seems to be going for an industrial/modern look, and it accomplishes that basic feat. Functionally, however, it could do with more (and more comfortable) indoor seating; the existing bench along the wall with small tables barely suffices to seat even the smallest crowd of customers. Environment: 3/5 Service: The two women working the cash register on the night of our visit were polite and friendly, and were eager to offer us samples of whichever ice cream we wished. Once we decided on flavors, we were given our treats very quickly and the shop's Square payment processing system was fast as well. Service: 5/5 Food: My wife opted for the coconut milk chocolate in a sugar cone, and I went with the cherry limeade sorbet and apricot sorbet. The fruit flavors were striking: the apricot tasted just like fresh apricots, and the cherry limeade had a great sweet and tart flavor to it (as well as a very crystalline texture which was refreshing). I'm at the ice cream place now just having had a pretty bad experience. I ordered what they promote, their ice cream sandwich, for $4.50+tax. It was totally inedible! Physically, I could not consume it! The cookies were completely frozen, hard as a rock, and the ice cream super soft. It could not be bitten into. Sorry.
