We come to Durango every year for Labor Day weekend and this was the first time we have been to the Cream Bean Berry. The ice cream is sooooooo good. We went Saturday with a group of 6 we all had something different and all the choices were amazing. I had the peach and it was like I was eating an actual peach. We ended up going back Sunday with a group of about 30 people. The service was fantastic and everyone was so impressed. We will be coming back for sure! It was busy, but when the three workers help one family at a time with a line out the door I think some training needs to take place! Not kid friendly or parent friendly. I took my three year old in with me because he wanted ice cream. I am from here. Not a tourist. Born and raised. I was not welcomed nicely at all. I asked for a spoon-sized sample so my young child could try out sorbet, which he picked out but has never had so I didn't want to waste what little money we have on something he hasn't ever had and may not like (all of this I told to the ice queen that was begrudgingly waiting on us). I don't think I have ever come across a single ice cream establishment in my life that won't give you at least one small spoon sample. Very strange. I ended up going with the Cherry Amaretto ice cream (one small scoop in a small sugar cone) which came out to $5 and some change!! We walked a block down the street and my son ate his ice cream then began to choke on a sliver of almond that I didn't realize was in the ice cream. Much to his disappointment, I ended up throwing $5 in the trash a block away from this shop with the very unpleasant cashier who, if possible was even more unpleasant when she realized I didn't leave her a tip on the credit card machine. I assume she must either hate kids, mothers, or maybe she just broke up with her bf/gf/unicorn whatever. Either way, the owner here should do a customer service seminar because I'm going to start complaining to the chamber of commerce and ask them to do something about all of these entitled arrogant kids left to run our beautiful down town into the ground. Honestly, I'd rather had a long conversation with one of the homeless dudes that roam around than this chick. I won't recommend this place to anyone. $5 dollar small scoops, bad attitudes, and not a single sample for a toddler...jerks. read more

The ice cream at this place was alright. We got cones and my friends cone had a hole and leaked chocolate sauce everywhere on his pants and legs. I guess they use a chocolate sauce to seal the bottom of the cones? Not sure, but it leaked everywhere. While the ice cream is good, the overall service and experience is poor. Not sure if this business normally operates without air conditioning but it was 100 degrees in the building. Then you add a ton of people packed in and it's a miserable wait. Plus, you have a group of young people running things and they are poorly organized. Setting your ice cream by the register only to let it melt while you wait in line. When I asked if my ice cream could just be handed to me as I was worried about the wait, heat, and melting, I was met with lackluster concern and confusion, like this was a bizarre question to ask. I then asked if the young lady was concerned about that, to which she replied, it might melt it depends on the flavor, shrugged her shoulders and walked away (??). When I finally made it to the front of the line, the cashier walked away to serve ice cream, without acknowledging me or letting me know it would be a few minutes- nothing. Then a replacement finally arrived and begins trying to check out the lady behind me while I stood there at the front of the line patiently waiting. Father of 3 kids (10, 9, 6) ice cream is always on our checklist of places to try when visiting. As a Wisconsin native, I admit being a bit snobby when it comes to ice cream. In fact, I will forever claim that the university of Wisconsin Madison's "Babcock Hall" vanilla ice cream to be unparalleled. But this, this is a close second. In fact, I'd almost have to do a blind side- by-side test. The Madagascar vanilla bean was that good. My children all got the coconut chocolate. Through my self-enacted chocolate tax, I was able to snag a taste. Very, very good. My wife got the cherry crumble. I almost preferred that to the vanilla...but I'm a purist. However, very good chery crumble. Prices were kinda high, but I am okay with that when the results are so high. I expected something terrific and liked that the ingrediants were all locally sourced. I appreciate what that takes, so understand that is going to cost more than dairy Queen. And I'm okay with that. Go here. It's absolutely worth it. read more

This ice cream was fantastic. They must use really good ingredients because I loved every bite. I can't remember what the flavor was called but it had a bunch of different kinds of cookies in it. It was like they took all their leftover cookies and mashed them up into vanilla ice cream. So every bite was a little different - one would be chocolate cookie and the next gingersnap. The vanilla ice cream itself was very creamy and flavorful. The people working behind the counter were very nice and took the time to let you sample as many flavors as you want.
