Great dairy free ice cream and gluten free cones!!! We stop here at least once every time we're in town. Usually twice!

Very disappointed in the service today and hygiene practices of female worker. It was busy, but when the three workers help one family at a time with a line out the door I think some training needs to take place! Not to mention the girl working was playing with her hair, flipping it all over her head, and never did I see her wash her hands before serving us or others! Gross! read more

While the ice cream is good, the overall service and experience is poor. Not sure if this business normally operates without air conditioning but it was 100 degrees in the building. Then you add a ton of people packed in and it's a miserable wait. Plus, you have a group of young people running things and they are poorly organized. Setting your ice cream by the register only to let it melt while you wait in line. When I asked if my ice cream could just be handed to me as I was worried about the wait, heat, and melting, I was met with lackluster concern and confusion, like this was a bizarre question to ask. I then asked if the young lady was concerned about that, to which she replied, it might melt it depends on the flavor, shrugged her shoulders and walked away (??). When I finally made it to the front of the line, the cashier walked away to serve ice cream, without acknowledging me or letting me know it would be a few minutes- nothing. Then a replacement finally arrived and begins trying to check out the lady behind me while I stood there at the front of the line patiently waiting. I'm not sure who the owner is, but a serious rehaul is in order. read more

The ice cream at this place was alright. We got cones and my friends cone had a hole and leaked chocolate sauce everywhere on his pants and legs. I guess they use a chocolate sauce to seal the bottom of the cones? Not sure, but it leaked everywhere. There was also a girl working there that had a small attitude with people, which wasn't horrible, but still kind of odd. The ice cream itself was average. Father of 3 kids (10, 9, 6) ice cream is always on our checklist of places to try when visiting. As a Wisconsin native, I admit being a bit snobby when it comes to ice cream. In fact, I will forever claim that the university of Wisconsin Madison's "Babcock Hall" vanilla ice cream to be unparalleled. But this, this is a close second. In fact, I'd almost have to do a blind side- by-side test. The Madagascar vanilla bean was that good. My children all got the coconut chocolate. Through my self-enacted chocolate tax, I was able to snag a taste. Very, very good. My wife got the cherry crumble. I almost preferred that to the vanilla...but I'm a purist. However, very good chery crumble. Prices were kinda high, but I am okay with that when the results are so high. I expected something terrific and liked that the ingrediants were all locally sourced. Because we had amazing homemade ice cream in two other towns, we were on the hunt for the next fabulous homemade ice cream.. It was OK, but we expected it to be magnificent because of the advertisement that it was local handcrafted and organic. It wasn't nearly as creamy or flavorful as the prior two places that had visited. Portions were smaller and price tag was higher as well. The ice cream was not bad, but lesson learned, just because it's homemade and more expensive doesn't mean it's always the best. Perhaps the cost of producing an organic product is higher, or because it was downtown Durango, a little pricier piece of real estate? I would definitely choose this local business over the only other ice cream parlor in town, a franchise, Marble Slab. read more

LOVE this place, along with their values (organic, local when possible) and their flavors (beet poppyseed and goat cheese-cherry are my ultimate favorites). I started frequenting them at their "tricicleta" stand on the river, but I'm so glad they have a shop downtown. Their sundaes are to die for. This ice cream was fantastic. They must use really good ingredients because I loved every bite. I can't remember what the flavor was called but it had a bunch of different kinds of cookies in it. It was like they took all their leftover cookies and mashed them up into vanilla ice cream. So every bite was a little different - one would be chocolate cookie and the next gingersnap. The vanilla ice cream itself was very creamy and flavorful. The people working behind the counter were very nice and took the time to let you sample as many flavors as you want.
