While visiting Stone Mountain for the weekend, my son and I were craving good BBQ. It was late on a Saturday afternoon and using Yelp, we decided on Crazy Ron's and we were so happy! This place is a takeout stand with picnic tables outside so you can only eat there if the weather is not bad. the smoker is on the side of the stand so you get to smell the smoke aroma while waiting on your order. We both had the chopped pork sandwich and also an order of ribs. All were delicious, tender & messy but the sauce - it was amazing! Was that a hint of bourbon I detected? I wanted to try the chopped beef but they were out by the time we ate so I will definitely visit earlier on my next visit! read more

Stopped by with family from up north. Needless to say they were a little skeptical giving the setting (gas station parking lot) but I convinced them that the roadside stops are where the best bbq resides. Did not disappoint. Maybe a little pricey but good, decent BBQ. And a story to take back north to boot. read more

Crazy Ron's is absolutely fantastic, from chicken to pulled pork to fall off the meat ribs with a wonderful spicy-sweet sauce this is the place to go for great BBQ. The only thing I don't love is their cornbread which just isn't as sweet as I would like but that me just nitpicking. read more

After finding this place tucked away next to a somewhat sketchy-looking convenience store, we pulled up and decided to check it out. We ordered ribs, chicken, and pulled pork (there were six of us) and especially enjoyed the ribs and pulled pork. The potato salad was yummy, as was the macaroni and cheese. Very great BBQ, hearty portions for a reasonable price, and very friendly people. Not sure how their schedule works. They say closed on Sun, Mon, and Tues, but we ate there this past Sunday... The smoked was bellowing from the pit, plus there was a line waiting to get the BBQ. I ordered the ribs, and chicken plate. Was charged an extra $3.00 because I requested the white meat. The sauce was thin, the baked beans tasted right from the can. Thought the chicken and ribs tasted bland, but did have a smoky flavor. For 3 bones, chicken wing, cup of beans and cup of cole slaw, I thought $16.00 was a bit much. read more

I have been coming to this place for years and it is awesome. Ron is a very nice guy who knows his barbecue. In the beginning, I was a bit apprehensive. Who wants food out of the trailer? I am so glad that I did not let that deter me. It would have been a big mistake! If you want really good barbecue and you're in East Atlanta, make sure to stop by this place. We stopped here on a whim while leaving Stone Mountain.. what an EXCELLENT stop it was! We had rib tips and the chopped beef (they were out of chopped pork for another hour). It was REALLY good; I actually preferred the tips over the beef, though I really wanted the chopped pork. The potato salad was very good; baked beans were about average. Went to CR's and got some ribs on my first visit ... I figure that if you run a BBQ joint, how you cook and present your ribs should tell you about the rest of your food. OK, wait was about average-I went on a weekday and there were only a few people there so 3 minutes is a little long to wait on something that only needs to be sliced and put in the stryo box. Food-ribs were done but I like them with a 'little less fight' left in them where the meat ~almost~ falls off the bone so these had a little too much fight left in them for my preference. Also, there was not too much meat to fight for on these ribs-I was hungry and wanted more after I finished, so it would have been better either with a larger portion or more meat on the bone. Sauce-strong, thick, tasty with a good after taste ... not too hot but with a good mustard and vinegar base. Overall, I will be back, but not for the ribs - plan on trying the 'sammich' next time. read more

My experience was not good the chopped beef was not tender. The sides were not that good. And the prices were high. I would not recommend.

I've experience better from YOU GUYS!! Stopped by during the last holiday for the pulled pork sandwich and cole slaw. Ok this was one of the worst sandwiches I have ever purchased from you. I could barely eat 1/2 of it, trashed the rest. The meat was not tender, it tasted like it was boiled in a pot & never hit the grill... the sauce had a hot crushed pepperish-taste to it. Even a few months back, I purchased the same sandwich and noticed the diffrence in the taste of the sauce. Well this time I had to say something-Revive that orginal bbq recipe you had when I was first recommended to Crazy Ron's in 2007, THIS NEW STYLE BBQ SAUCE YOU ARE USING NOW-- SUCKS!! Like others have said, this is a great place to stop after a hike up the mountain! Its not a large building, and if you don't notice Crazy Ron's as you drive by, you'll almost definitely smell the barbeque smoke rising from the smokers. As for customer service, this is how every business should be... if you don't know what you want, Ron is more than happy to make a suggestion, and they'll make your order exactly how you want it. The BBQ pork 'sammich' was amazing, so was the mac 'n cheese. If you're thirsty, order a half tea, half lemonade... we got two more for the road. While staying in Stone Mountain on vacation Crazy Ron's BBQ happened to be near my hotel so I decided to give it a shot. This turned out to be a good choice. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. I highly suggest anyone in the area should stop here for some excellent BBQ. read more
