We tried this restaurant Saturday after having driven past it many times on hwy 78. We decided on take out and I'm glad we did. The place is small and has seen better days. No ice machine, instead an employee scoops ice out of a cooler with a cup. Their health inspection score was 97 so that was comforting. But the two chairs in front of the counter looked so bad I stood up the entire time while waiting for our order which took longer than we were told it would. The cashier said 15-20 minutes once we placed our order. This was not a surprise because many of the items were listed as CTO (cooked to order). However we waited 30 minutes. We ordered wings and several sides (greens, mashed potatoes, yams, black eyed peas, okra, mac and cheese). They were out of squash. I enjoyed most of the food especially the fried chicken. The mashed potatoes were a little bland and the yams dry. The mac and cheese was just so so. The buffalo wings were also very good. All meals were around $10. Considering the location, pricing and certain items I like, I would maybe do take out again.

    Think twice.

The 1 star is for the food and the lies they conjure... This picture was taken earlier this year, so I don't know what has changed since then, but we haven't been back since. This was our family's experience... We found this hole in the wall spot venturing to Hardee's, had a discussion about how Soul Food restaurants had gone down hill, and wanted to see if things were different up here in Lithonia. My first impression was they had No Soul since word about them hadn't spread to our neck of the woods, but my family was leaning towards giving them a chance, so in we went. Line was to the door, and upon entering, we weren't greeted by neither of the two female cashiers. Strike 1 in my book. We ordered to go, paid, sat and waited. We were gonna eat in to soak up the atmosphere, but it was riddled with loud music and a TV playing on what we thought was a giant flat screen, but was just a projector reflecting it onto the wall, giving you the impression. Very laughable! So we chose to go... I remember thee food not being anything to write home about, and the patrons all looked like they needed a wake up call to what real soul food (and Southern Hospitality) was. It's more than a crummy name and crappy service! Strike 2: The food. Again, this was a few months ago, so things were hazy, but it left no impression for me to come back there. Strike 3, was equivalent to how I wanted the food: OUT, of my stomach...and Soul for that matter. We haven't been back since, but their greens, Mac and cheese, black-eyed peas, and baked chicken... Please hold your saliva back... Was all bland, and tasted microwaved! That health department rating should've served as a much better greet, and wake up call. Don't trust their Google reviews, because some of those 5-star rated reviews match up with some of the names we overheard while waiting in that lobby. Names, we don't forget. Food (LoL), yes! Our search for good exquisite soul food ended when we realized we could cook this ish at home, so we know YOU, THE PEOPLE, can do the same!

Ehh the food is decent, but definitely not the best as far as soul food is concerned. I stopped here on the way home from work to avoid having to cook. The people were very sweet and the location is conveniently right off of 78. There's lots of parking. I had a salisbury steak plate with blaxk eyed peas and mav and cheese. I really enjoyed the steak and the black eyed peas were pretty good, but the mac and cheese was blah.

Salty Fried Chicken, MAC and Cheese, and Blacked Peas

I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. The fried chicken was salty and the Mac and cheese is indescribable. The black peas were the best thing on my $14.99 Garbage Plate. I have been calling for the last 2 days to speak with owner for a refund. I visited the restaurant after walking up Sone Mountain. It's a mugger inconvenience to go back there for a refund which can be processed over the phone. Left both my email address and phone for a returned call. Nothing. Spoke with Tasha the next day, who was very nice. She said she would return my call by the end of business day. Called again and was told the owner has received my message. I will contact my financial institution and the BBB due to how poorly the owner has handled this situation. Would have been better off throwing my $$ out the window. I feel cheated and I want my $$ back ASAP

    Retaliation service..

I have ordered from here about 3 times.. the food is good but not consistent. It is expense for the portions. I went in the store to see who the people are they made a mistake in communication but it was the way they were debating their error with me. I was not going to order fdom.them again..but I had a change of heart. This order reflects my delivery. They remembered me last time I ordered so I believe they purposely made my order look like this..

Hair in the Mac and cheese, metal in the yams.

The staff was nice and the establishment was clean. At the time we went it was not a lot of people there but they slowly started coming in. Ordered some wings and fries and a 5 pc tender dinner. They both were good. I did like the fact that they sell whole wings. Even though they were small they were enjoyable. There was a lot of talk about the restaurant across the street (JJ's) I believe that is Fingez new competition. The talk was mostly from an employee, I think he was not happy with them moving over to their location. Maybe at some point I will visit them only because the employee was not happy with them. Based on what he was saying it was like they did not care about the customers and Fingerz does care about their customers. So I guess in time we will see. I think the pricing was the normal charge for meals like that. The chicken tenders were good, not to crunchy, not too much seasonings just right actually. The dipping sauce was ok too. They have lots of choices for the dipping sauces so I did like the choices. Generally speaking the food and service was ok but it is not a place I would run to for a meal. If I am in the area and in the mood for some chicken I might stop by.

As I pulled up, the banner caught my attention. Mentioning the type of food, location, and hours. As I walked in I was immediately drawn to the cleanliness of the dining area. There are bar tables and 2 booths. Maybe 20 ppl can dine inside. There is seating outside. Customers were eating outside. Only 1 table w/umbrella. The service was spot on. I did not get the cashier's name but she was nice. I ordered the plain fried whole wings. You can order 4 or 8 wings with fries. I had 4. They were cooked to order actually all are. Nothing frozen. Fresh food! The wings were medium-sized with a hint of seasoning. I really didn't taste any and if any it was very subtle. If you want Tabasco sauce or any sauce, there is a fee. I found this out after I had placed the order. The fries were fries. Hot and tasty. The fried okra was okay. I would not order again. My husband ordered the chicken Philly cheesesteak. I tasted a piece of the chicken and let me tell you it was delicious! Seasoned very well. It has a hint of spicy flavor but you taste it after the fact . It's not overly spicy but you taste it. The peppers, onions, and cheese all melted together for a delicious sandwich. Bread was fresh and soft. I ordered the Mango Lemonade and oh my! The lemonade is one of the popular drinks if not the best drink. If I'm not mistaken you have another choice of cherry/grape. The mango has 4 peach candy rings at the bottom of the drink! So so good! This drink will set you back $5.50. It's worth it They have daily specials... I do apologize for not taking as many photos as I usually do but I got distracted in the sauce . I will try to upload a video later and if my husband has photos I will upload them Now go ahead and give these folks a try! You will not be disappointed BTW, you may want to order ahead bc they cook to order.

The mac & cheese taste scorched, I noticed some of it was burnt at the bottom. The dressing had a weird taste as well. Not my cup of tea. It can be found in a small lot next to a liquor store. I ordered the turkey wings over rice, yams and macaroni with a side order of banana pudding. The customer service was friendly and polite. The food took about 10 minutes. The turkey wings were falling off the bone which I love. The seasoning was done well. Yams were soft and not too sweet. I love that they packed them in a separate container to avoid the juices moving around in the styrofoam container. The macaroni needed some work as I got the burnt cut. It was definitely left in the oven too long in a non greased pan. It wasn't bad but there was definitely a burnt aftertaste. The cornbread and drink was also included. The price point was very reasonable for that meal. Banana pudding was $7.00 and I feel it wasn't worth the price. The price point gave homemade dessert when in actuality it was a container of pudding with 4 wafers and 4 slices of bananas. Lastly completely check your order before leaving as I had to return for my dessert as it wasn't in my bag. Overall I would return and try some new items. I would recommend.
