RACIST ESTABLISHMENT!!!! Walked in wanted coffee. The hostess very nicely says hello, we have a food menu a male behind the counter yells out, WE DONT SERVE HAM or PORK. I didn't say anything at first, I gave him a look and put the menu down, and I was looking at the coffee section. Another female behind the counter was unaware of what had just happened and asked if I was being helped. Would it like to look at the menu. The same man says, "Don't bother with her," and waves his hand at me. I told him he was very rude and disrespectful because I am the only woman of color in the store. You assume I eat ham or pork. You didn't yell that out to the customers after me that walked in. He tells me well you can leave," saying I threw the menu at him (which was not the case). So I had a couple of choice words for the ignorant employee and left. I have worked in Great Neck for over 20 yrs and never have been treated like this when I walk in an establishment. I will let my fellow co-workers know that NEVER!!! come to this cafe to eat or buy a beverage. read more

Very unfortunate that I have to write this poor review. I wanted to like this place a lot. I came here to do some work on my computer, and have a long day ordering and getting things done. I ordered a basic greek salad. $20...ok.... fine I'll deal with it since I wanted to stay. Came to sit at the table and the outlets weren't working. I asked the staff if they were all out, and they said yes, its been out for a while. I said ok, can I get refunded since this place wont work for me. She said there was no way. I told her this was my first time, I want to continue to be back, and that I was asking for her to reconsider. She just packed the salad and said "sorry, cant do that, do you want salad dressing?" I've never eaten at Crawford's but I've been getting coffee there for years. Their lattes are great - way better than what you'd get at Starbucks across the street AND cheaper. The owner is usually behind the counter, he's very friendly. I also like that they have a diagram of all different espresso drinks on display explaining the coffee to milk to foam ratios. Overpriced and underwhelming food. Everything has an extra charge. I tried to order an avocado toast but then I realized that it was literally just smashed avocado over bread, with one free topping. If you would like anything more than one topping, it's an additional $1.25. I ordered a cream cheese bagel and let me tell you... it's the saddest looking bagel ever, pretty much an embarrassment to New York bagels. The bagel looked like it has been flattened, and barely had any cream cheese filling (refer to image attached). I also ordered a chocolate chip cookie, and it tasted like it was been sitting out in the open for days. Super dry and crusty, I'd rather eat packaged cookie from chips ahoy. The Cappuccino is creamy Soft music in various styles playing and light chatter in the air, I would easily forget the time XD For service, I would give them 3 stars, for now. As this store is fairly new, all cashiers and baristas, or even food service are new staffs, and are still missing the sophistication of customer service. A vegetable baguette sandwich was really an onion sandwich with one single small white mushroom minced and sprinkled over the onions...and when I complained they added another half of a white mushroom to it! I have been going to Crawfords about twice a week since it opened several years ago. The people behind the counter know me well. A few weeks back, I didn't have enough change for a muffin after I paid for my Acai Bowel and the counterperson said to me not to worry about it. When this other counterperson heard that, she said that she will not allow me to do this anymore. Today the same incident happened. When I realized I didn't have enough change, I told him to forget abut it. The person who usually waits on me said no problem and not to worry about it. But the person who previously told me she will not do that, said no. The guy told her, his co-worker, that it's ok, it's no problem. Instead of letting it drop, the other person said to me "I already spoke to you about this previously." I reminded her that that is the reason why I said to him to forget it. Since he said yes to me and she said no, I asked her who she was and she said in a very rude and defensive tone, that she was the "ass't manager". I told her "there was no reason for her to speak to me in that tone. While walking away into the back room, she said to me, it is you who is being rude. Moral of the story, it's a good local place to eat but not worth being spoken to in a rude fashion, especially over a muffin. read more
