Decided to eat here for my birthday, the waitress was super nice and attentive. Thanks for always checking up if we needed more water! My friend and I both decided to get 1 lb of shrimp each cave style. If you check in on yelp, you get free golden fish balls. OMG, the fish balls are packed with flavor! I highly recommend trying this when you're here. On top of that, the shrimps were huge. Bigger than normal size! This is my new favorite place to eat shrimp. The cave style sauce had so much flavor going on which I loved. Can't go wrong with putting the extra sauce on a side of rice. Rarely write reviews but felt so compelled to share my experience. Ordered the "bucket" comprised of two lbs of clams, and one lb of shrimp. Got it to go with a clam chowder and baked oysters. Total came out to 82 bucks. Disappointed from the moment we opened the bag. The shrimp and clams were extremely mushy. It literally dissolved to a paste. And nearly all of the clams were not even open. The sauce was extremely watered down almost like a soup. I'm not even sure I even ate a whole clam, they dissolved before it reached my mouth. I'm not sure what we ate after we finished the meal, I had to even make some instant noodles after to feel substance in my tummy. A delicious crawfish joint in the heart of downtown Fullerton. We were in luck! I believe today was one of the first days of the fresh crawfish season (because even the server was surprised that the market price on crawfish has changed as of this morning, indicating it is for fresh not frozen crawfish). We ordered the "bucket" which is 3 lbs of seafood with 4 pieces of sausage, 2 pieces of corn and 2 pieces of potatoes for about $43. The only caveat is your entire bucket order has to be the same spice level and same seasoning. We picked medium and all-in seasoning. Granted, we eat pretty spicy but we could not taste the spice at all! Ended up asking for more spice and the server was kind enough to bring us a bowl of spicier sauce to add to our food. It helped a little bit. The crawfish tasted alright, although I suspect there were some frozen crawfish mixed amongst our fresh crawfish. The meat just didn't taste as fresh for some of them. The shrimp was good. Don't forget there's an option to get your shrimp peeled (for an extra 2 dollars per lb). I also highly recommend the Cajun garlic fries. Sooo good. Last but not least, the service was really fast and friendly. This was a very disappointing, lackluster experience considering we spent $73. We placed a to go order for the Cave Bucket and spoke to our server Alexis who was really nice and accommodating on the phone. Picked up our order and drove home to find there were no condiments. With something like crawfish, the ketchup mayo is a must so my husband drove back to get some. Well, I opened the bag of food to discover there were also no potatoes, I dug around and there were definitely no potatoes. I called my husband back but he had already left. There was no way I was going to send him back a second time because they keep forgetting to include what we asked for. The food itself was not very tasty. The seasoning had lots of brown herby stuff on it. It just didn't taste very good to me. The crawfish was not very flavorful but at least the shrimp and garlic noodles were filling. When I called about the forgotten ketchup mayo, the response of the person who picked up was funny- he blamed Alexis for leaving and not telling them anything. Um okay, she's still your employee? When I called again to let them know they also forgot our potatoes, the manager said he would take care of us next time, but we aren't interested in a next time. I'll stick to Kicking Crab or Boiling Crab. This was so disappointing since it's local and close to us but it really just was a bad experience. I've always been a huge fan of Boiling Crab but this place is definitely better! Similar concept but the flavors here were amazing and service was impeccable. They also have dollar oysters during their happy hour. I'm very particular about oysters but this place does it right. Super fresh and juicy! Nothing beats $1 oysters! The fish po'boy was so good. Fish was battered and fried to perfection and had all the fixings, just how I like it. Comes with fries and is pretty filling. I thoroughly enjoyed eating this! They also have shrimp, calamari, and oyster po'boys, all of which sound delicious! Now for the best part of my meal..the pound of lobster tail! The only oddity is the powdered sugar on the sweet potato fries. Otherwise if you are very hungry this is a good place to chow down at. $3.00 beers in a full size 16oz glass at happy hour! Service was a little bit odd, but I think it was due to a brand new server. I ordered the garlic noodles all-in, spicy. They were actually very good. The shrimp was not over cooked, which was good considering all the meats have different cook times. My other half ordered the fish tacos with Cajun fries and a side of andouille sausage. The tacos he said were bland. The fries were good. The andouille appears to be one sausage cut into six pieces. He said the sausage was good. Overall, this place was okay. Friends and I stopped by here for dinner tonight, because I've been craving seafood. They've been before and had a good impression. I braced myself bc of all the reviews on their service, but it wasn't bad at all. Our server was nice and attentive. He checked in to make sure we were doing alright. He explained the menu, and had a pleasant attitude. He gave us his own personal recommendations on what to choose fm the menu. Food was awesome. Their sauce was good, and so was quality of the King crab (meat was tender and perfect). Wings had good amount of chicken and good flavors. Although, the fish sauce was a little too much for me with their Asian seasoning. Baked oysters were decent, but had a tad too much cheese. Corn also had a little too much Parmesan cheese on it. My friends and I ordered a lot of food, and we all agreed it was one of the best choices to try this place out. For one, their oysters are so so so good and during happy hour, only $1 each! That alone would get me to come to this place and try it out. We also got an order of their fried fish balls (tip: check-in to this place on Yelp) and it was delicious - they're the same fish balls that you find in shabu shabu places. We also tried their garlic noodles (all-in) and while it was delicious, it wasn't life-changing as some people on Yelp make it out to be. Their fried calamari is delicious, and so are their chowder fries (they use shoestring fries so you know it's legit). Additionally, we also got a pound of shrimp and a side of corn (with butter) and it was just ... heavenly. Their servers are super nice, attentive, and friendly - they always come around to make sure you're doing good and to refill your water too! Order the GARLIC NOODLES. So worth it. Came here around 8pm on Saturday to find no line. Parking lot is small for the amount of businesses around so I highly suggest parking in that structure nearby for free. Meal was overall really good and I love that the sauce here isn't as oily as other seafood boil establishments. We ended up ordering another pound of shrimp because we were hungry. Flavor is definitely on par with boiling crab as well! However the winner here is the garlic noodles and don't knock it til you tried it. It's so flavorful and the thin spaghetti makes a huge difference! The rice that we ordered was a bit mushy so I'd pass on it. I was hoping that there would be more sauce so we can grab some and throw it on the rice. After you finish your seafood bowl, you'll be able to see the sauce and let out a sigh of relief that there wasn't as much oil as you ingested..... or at least I did. ;) Mild is definitely good enough for a kick of spice but they have various levels of spice. We ordered the following- 2 lbs of peeled shrimp "cave style" with mild spice which were not flavorful. It is evident that the shrimp was not in any seasoning of flavor and didn't absorb the flavor it was delivered in. Rating 2/10 Truffle fries were by far the highlight of our meal! Garlic shrimp noodles had absolutely no flavor, could only taste butter and spaghetti. I don't even know if there was actually garlic in it because we could not taste any. Been here so many times. Granted it was a friend who introduced this place to me years ago. But ever since then, this is my go to shrimp place. Love the hottest spice they have. And even if I have leftover sauce I'll take it home and use it on other foods. Although lately they kind of toned down their spice, which has gotten me to ask them to take it back to add extra spice. But either way I'll keep coming back. My review is just basically on the spiciest shrimp as well as their Cajun fries and sometimes might get some noodles. But with the noodles, if you want them spicy be sure to let them know , because there have been multiple times had to return them so they can add spice. Long story short, I've tried multiple shrimp places over OC but this will be the first one I recommend first. Live literally a block away, came here few times, each time the food taste worst than previous. Ordered To go food like 2 month ago and would never come back. Crawfish Cave - Perfectly fried calamari!! - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Fullerton, California

Crawfish Cave is another attempt to tap into the success of Boiling Crab. They are located at the former Knowlwood Burger location and, as far as I can tell, kept similar look and feel, with addition of TV screens. The steam seafood concept is basically the same. You choose the seasoning and the spiciness. Their equivalent to the Whole Shabang is called the Cave and it's pretty similar. There are bucket options that allow you to mix different seafoods in one order. The pricing to me looked similar to if you ordered each seafood separately except the buckets come with a few corn, potato and sausages. Shrimp is normally what we order. The shrimps are cooked just right (not overcooked) and they are large (I'd say some are larger than the ones at BC). They also offer shrimps that are peeled and deveined. My experience at other restaurants is that peeled shrimps are usually overcooked so I wouldn't recommend it unless someone is really screamish about shrimp heads. Prices are higher than BC. Shrimp is $12.95 / lb. If my memory is correct, shrimp at BC is less than $10. We also tried the clam chowder and fish and chips. Both are good. The clam chowder is $7 and large enough to share. It's thick and includes ample clam pieces. The fish in the fish and chips is not as large as BC but good enough. The fries are good and served piping hot. They are currently offering a free order of fish balls for a check-in. They are good, filled with masago on the inside. Our one disappointment is the garlic noodles. There are comparisons in other reviews to the famed Crustacean garlic noodles. I don't think so. The garlic flavor is on the strong side and more like raw garlic. Both our boys took a bite and passed. Overall Crawfish Cave is a good alternative to BC. It's closer and there's not a wait . . . yet during peak dinner time. Step aside Boiling Crab, there's a new king of Crawfish in Southern California. I actually visited Crawfish Cave many years ago as they were first getting set up. Fortune would find me back in Fullerton again a couple weeks ago and I knew already that we had to make a stop at Crawfish Cave. We came for lunch on a Sunday. When we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and were seated right away. That's right, on a weekend, there was no wait for a table. The dining room is very clean, decorated with nautical shenanigans. There are many TVs around the restaurant for checking the score while you're peeling. Also, they have a large patio with XL games that you can play like Cornhole and Connect 4 that we would have loved to had tried if it were not 56 Degrees outside. In no time, our waitress had our drink orders and we were nose deep in their vast menu. You'll find many items here that you won't find at BC, like Clam Chowder, Garlic Noodles (A Must), Tacos, Elote among others. We ordered their world famous Garlic Noodles, six Fresh Oysters, Cave Fries with cajun seasoning and their 3LB Bucket ($45). You can split up the protein in the bucket however you want, so we got 2 Pounds of peeled shrimp and 1 lb of Crawfish. The Peeled shrimp will cost you an extra $2 per pound, but if you fancy like that it's well worth the add-on. The bucket comes with Corn, Sausage and Potatoes and is tossed with your choice of sauce and heat level. We got the Cave-Style All In, a mix of all the flavors: Cajun, Lemon Pepper and Garlic butter. Crawfish Cave's heat levels are true to order, so if you're getting mild, then it'll be mild. The Garlic Noodles are amazing, with deep intense garlic and cajun flavor and topped with nutty Parmesan cheese. I was worried that they might be greasy, but the amount of oil and sauce was perfect. The noodles had great texture: Slightly less than al dente. I strongly recommend getting an order of these to share. I usually make noodles with my leftover crawfish sauce, but there's no way that I would be able to make them as good as the restaurant does. Cajun fries were also deliciuous. Perfectly deep fried, crispy outside, soft fluffy inside, dusted with a healthy coating of Cajun Seasoning. Some modicum of heat here, but not enough to melt your face off. Perfect for dipping into Cave Sauce in our bucket. The most important thing when you order oysters is temperature and freshness. It was obvious that he oysters we received were super fresh, with no fishy smell whatsoever. They were served with Cocktail and Horseradish and I appreciated that the oysters were well-shucked, no shell fragments or loss of the liqour. Any bucket is as good as it's sauce, and Crawfish Cave does not disappoint. Their signature Cave Style is a perfect balance of garlic, cajun seasoning, lemon, pepper, and butter. I like that the butter does not overpower the sauce as it does at some other places. The sauce is rich, but not greasy, with just the right consistency to coat your crawfish, shrimp, clams or crab legs. Even though we arrived pretty hungry, there was no way that we could finish all the food that we ordered. The leftovers that we had from our bucket was enough to feed us for the rest of the week. Price is on par with what you get from Boiling Crab, and the quality is just as good if not better. During our entire meal, our server Alex was always checking in on us to make sure our water glasses were filled and even boxed up our leftovers for us in bags when we were finished. Overall, Crawfish Cave is my favorite place to go to when the Crawfish itch strikes. Even though there's a Boiling Crab a block away from me in Koreatown, I'd much rather make a pilgrimage to Crawfish Cave due to their great food, sauce, and service. Five+ Stars. read more

If I could give negative 5 stars I would but unfortunately Yelp doesn't allow us to do that! My dad loves this place so he wanted to take me and my siblings here last night. We checked their website and it said it closed at 9:30pm. We got there around 8:30pm (a whole Hour before closing time!) and the guy working last night told us that if we stayed we couldn't eat past 9pm because they want all the customers out of the building by 9:15 so the employees can all leave at 9:30pm on the dot. And I told him your website and the sign outside the door says you close at 9:30pm and he just kept repeating himself that if we ate we couldn't stay past 9pm. Like what kind of restaurant does that?! That's a great way to lose business! If you say you're open till 9:30 then that means you have service until 9:30pm. What I got was those pollack fish formed balls from Asian markets, I've had those before. Bit chewy and not too much flavor. -The gumbo had 2 shrimp and lots of bell peppers. -The Cajun fries were dusted with cayenne pepper dust it was powdery tasting not much seasoning, at least throw in some lawry salt.
