Step aside Boiling Crab, there's a new king of Crawfish in Southern California. I actually visited Crawfish Cave many years ago as they were first getting set up. Fortune would find me back in Fullerton again a couple weeks ago and I knew already that we had to make a stop at Crawfish Cave. We came for lunch on a Sunday. When we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and were seated right away. That's right, on a weekend, there was no wait for a table. The dining room is very clean, decorated with nautical shenanigans. There are many TVs around the restaurant for checking the score while you're peeling. Also, they have a large patio with XL games that you can play like Cornhole and Connect 4 that we would have loved to had tried if it were not 56 Degrees outside. In no time, our waitress had our drink orders and we were nose deep in their vast menu. You'll find many items here that you won't find at BC, like Clam Chowder, Garlic Noodles (A Must), Tacos, Elote among others. We ordered their world famous Garlic Noodles, six Fresh Oysters, Cave Fries with cajun seasoning and their 3LB Bucket ($45). You can split up the protein in the bucket however you want, so we got 2 Pounds of peeled shrimp and 1 lb of Crawfish. The Peeled shrimp will cost you an extra $2 per pound, but if you fancy like that it's well worth the add-on. The bucket comes with Corn, Sausage and Potatoes and is tossed with your choice of sauce and heat level. We got the Cave-Style All In, a mix of all the flavors: Cajun, Lemon Pepper and Garlic butter. Crawfish Cave's heat levels are true to order, so if you're getting mild, then it'll be mild. The Garlic Noodles are amazing, with deep intense garlic and cajun flavor and topped with nutty Parmesan cheese. I was worried that they might be greasy, but the amount of oil and sauce was perfect. The noodles had great texture: Slightly less than al dente. I strongly recommend getting an order of these to share. I usually make noodles with my leftover crawfish sauce, but there's no way that I would be able to make them as good as the restaurant does. Cajun fries were also deliciuous. Perfectly deep fried, crispy outside, soft fluffy inside, dusted with a healthy coating of Cajun Seasoning. Some modicum of heat here, but not enough to melt your face off. Perfect for dipping into Cave Sauce in our bucket. The most important thing when you order oysters is temperature and freshness. It was obvious that he oysters we received were super fresh, with no fishy smell whatsoever. They were served with Cocktail and Horseradish and I appreciated that the oysters were well-shucked, no shell fragments or loss of the liqour. Any bucket is as good as it's sauce, and Crawfish Cave does not disappoint. Their signature Cave Style is a perfect balance of garlic, cajun seasoning, lemon, pepper, and butter. I like that the butter does not overpower the sauce as it does at some other places. The sauce is rich, but not greasy, with just the right consistency to coat your crawfish, shrimp, clams or crab legs. Even though we arrived pretty hungry, there was no way that we could finish all the food that we ordered. The leftovers that we had from our bucket was enough to feed us for the rest of the week. Price is on par with what you get from Boiling Crab, and the quality is just as good if not better. During our entire meal, our server Alex was always checking in on us to make sure our water glasses were filled and even boxed up our leftovers for us in bags when we were finished. Overall, Crawfish Cave is my favorite place to go to when the Crawfish itch strikes. Even though there's a Boiling Crab a block away from me in Koreatown, I'd much rather make a pilgrimage to Crawfish Cave due to their great food, sauce, and service. Five+ Stars. read more

If I could give negative 5 stars I would but unfortunately Yelp doesn't allow us to do that! My dad loves this place so he wanted to take me and my siblings here last night. We checked their website and it said it closed at 9:30pm. We got there around 8:30pm (a whole Hour before closing time!) and the guy working last night told us that if we stayed we couldn't eat past 9pm because they want all the customers out of the building by 9:15 so the employees can all leave at 9:30pm on the dot. And I told him your website and the sign outside the door says you close at 9:30pm and he just kept repeating himself that if we ate we couldn't stay past 9pm. Like what kind of restaurant does that?! That's a great way to lose business! If you say you're open till 9:30 then that means you have service until 9:30pm. I tried fish balls before mostly in Asian restaurants but there wasn't details on the foods on the menu so I was expecting more deep fried crusted flaky fish formed into balls. What I got was those pollack fish formed balls from Asian markets, I've had those before. Bit chewy and not too much flavor. -The gumbo had 2 shrimp and lots of bell peppers. -The Cajun fries were dusted with cayenne pepper dust it was powdery tasting not much seasoning, at least throw in some lawry salt. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS PLACE!! I don't understand why it was so empty when I came here on a Saturday afternoon!! I've had this place bookmarked on Yelp for the longest time (I think I saw a post from a foodie instagram a while back) and I have been meaning to try this. I was in the area, and finally found time to visit! When we arrived, probably a bit after 12pm. The front entrance was hard to find since we didn't park in the main parking lot closest to the restaurant (Note - the front entrance is not on the main street, there's no doors on that side. You have to enter from the side near the parking lot). We were seated right away and the server offered us options to let us sit wherever we wanted. Multiple servers checked up on us and made sure that we were offered something to drink, and that we were brought some menu so we could decide what to eat. Since we checked in on Yelp, we got a free order of Golden Fish Balls which would've costed about $5. We got lucky! Those golden fish balls were fried to order, and they had roe inside them. I love those fishballs (I have them all the time when I get hot pot), and I have never had them fried! It was superb!! They had so many options that I didn't know what to choose. I really wanted to try their all-in garlic noodles since that was the dish I wanted to come to Crawfish Cave for. BUT - when I saw their lunch menu, I was immediately drawn to all the options that were listed "lunch special only." My boyfriend and I ultimately decided on an omelet and the Northshore Shrimp Plate. I was SOO glad we chose the Northshore shrimp plate. When we came, we were surprised by the amount of food they gave us! These are not lunch sized plates - they were huge! The shrimp plate's flavor was also on point!! It wasn't too strong, and the rice complemented the sauce very well. It didn't feel TOO oily, not like what you would expect when you mix rice with the sauce that you'd get from boiling crab. The omelet was alright, nothing comparable to the shrimp plate since I had that first LOL. The service was incredible as well - almost all the servers that were working the floor while we were eating came and checked up on us multiple times, making sure the food is good, we had enough water, and that we didn't need anything else. I've been back a few times since their grand opening and I can officially say I'm hooked on CAVE SAUCE!!!! I think their sauce is actually better than their Boiling Crab or Kicking Crab counterparts. A group of us came for the $1 oysters and half of "draft beers" after work, valid Monday-Thursdays from 5-7pm. It's located next to the Old Spaghetti Factory in Downtown Fullerton, so parking isn't too big of an issue. The restaurant was empty when our party of six arrived so we were seated immediately. We started off with some beers, since it was advertised as 50% off draft beers, but beware, it doesn't apply to all beers under the "draft beers" section of the menu. I was pretty upset since they didn't even warn or inform us as we were ordering and even the happy hour sign on the table doesn't say "select" draft beers. TIPS: Check in on Yelp to get an order of free fish balls (one per table). They were nice enough to give us 3 orders of the fish balls since 3 of us checked in, although it says one per table. The fish balls were interesting, but I won't complain about free food. My girlfriend and I ordered one pound of peeled and de-veined shrimp, with cave-style sauce, soooo worth the extra $2 since you don't have to peel and you get more shrimp. We also got the garlic noodles, an order of the sausages inside our shrimp bag and 2-dozen $1 oysters. Oysters came out first, they were okay, not the best, but for $1, it's still a good deal. Garlic noodles were a miss for me, probably won't order that again. They messed up our shrimp order by combining it together with our friend's since it was the same flavor. Lucky for us, they didn't make us split the shrimp, so we got an extra pound of shrimp for free and they just brought out another pound for our friends. One thing I didn't like was how they dump the shrimp into the stainless steel bowls, next time, please just leave it in the bags. Service was kind of slow the whole night, we had to flag multiple people down since our main server was missing most of the time. If it wasn't for the extra pound of shrimp they gave for free, I would have rated this experience a lot worse. In comparison to the other cajun seafood joints, this ranks quite below all of them. O.M.G The food here is amazin! I can't believe how good this is. I got two pounds of crawfish and normally I would destroy it but, the crawfish were sooooo big, I wasn't able to finish it with some more to spare. The sauce was amazing and they gave such a generous amount. The crawfish is now in season and it was amazing. Would've finished it but I couldn't since my stomach was too small. Amazing flavor. Speaking of amazing, the employees were hilarious and fast! Service was automatic for sitting and the food came out within 10 minutes. They even put on the mtv awards for us when we asked. They made some jokes everytime they came over and were generally amazing. This is better than the boiling crab in my opinion. I'll be coming here again. If only I lived in socal! :( I visit quite often since my bf is from there and I try really hard to avoid eating at the same places over and over again... so I was happy when I ran across a new crawfish place that was opening up! While they were still in soft opening mode when I went, I was still able to try a bunch of items on their menu. Before the items come out, they hand you a bib and some limes/salt/pepper. 1. Fish & Chips $9.95 MY FAVE!!! This has everything I love - crunchy/light/flavorful batter on the outside, and tender fish on the inside, also came out PIPING HOT :)! It also comes with fries, we opted to add $2 to change them to truffle fries, awesome decision as that were delicious too. Comes with the regular tartar sauce (which was good) but one of our friends suggested that we dip it in the garlic butter sauce that the shrimp/clams were cooked in = WINNING COMBO. 2. Cave Special Clam Chowder $9.95 The cave special version came with live clams, so I think it's definitely worth it to go with this one. It's just the right consistency, not too runny and not too thick. It also tastes like it has a stick of butter in it, which in my book is A+! 3. 1lb of Shrimp, 1lb of clams (Garlic Butter sauce) $MP THE GARLIC BUTTER SAUUUCEEEEEE. Def go with this one! It's so flavorful and really packs a kick. They offer your seafood in either the bag or they can dump it out into a huge bowl for you. 1lb of shrimp and 1lb of clams were plenty for us, but I kinda wish we had more since it was so good. Don't forget to dip your other foods (fries, anyone?!) into this garlic butter sauce. On my next visit i'd probably try the all-in sauce. If you want more variety, I would go with the buckets, seems to be the most worth it. 4. Cave's Famous Garlic Noodles $7.95 This is like a pan fried garlic noodle - you can add sausages (+$2), clams (+$3), shrimp (+$4) or all in (+$6). We obviously went all in haha. If you've ever been to EMC, forget their garlic noodles, these are 100000x better! Def a good compliment to the seafood. I was so excited to eat this I totally forgot to take a picture :( The restaurant is beautiful and spacious and perfect for large groups/family gatherings. I think they have a space in the back that would be great for semi-private events. My friend and I ordered the "Bucket" special and tots for our appetizer. We ordered two pounds of crawfish and one pound of shrimp Cave style. The bucket was seasoned to perfection and tasted like it had just been finished being cooked! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a cute restaurant with a laid back vibe. Now the only way I can get my cajun seafood craving in LA is waiting 1 hr+ for boiling crab. My favorite part of Crawfish Cave is their extensive menu. Everything is delicious! I always end up over-ordering because I can't decide on what to get. I usually get shrimp in their signature sauce (if it's after work). It's so good and juicy that even thinking about it is making my mouth water. Because their menu is so extensive, I can come during my lunch break and not be super smelly afterwards in the office. Service I would honestly give less than 1 star but that's not an option. So in total my rating equates to 2 stars. Taylor was our server according to my receipt. Why was Taylor a horrible server? He essentially forgot half of our order. When we asked him about our shrimp, he said he would check for us, and never came back with an answer? Our garlic noodles and tater tots came out first. By the time the shrimp arrived, our garlic noodles and tots were cold. We also were not served rice, an item that we ordered in the beginning. Had to order rice AGAIN and Taylor did not apologize for forgetting our order. The other waiters seem to be hard workers, but not Taylor. I wish we would have gotten a different waiter so I would have left this restaurant with a more positive impression. Also, the two times our water was refilled, was from different waiters. The menu was easy to understand and they have HH from 4 or 5 to 7 for drinks. I do however wish they reminded us that HH was gonna be over before we ordered our second round of beer though lol. This was our first time at this location and we went around 5pm on a Tuesday. Downtown Fullerton is a FUN place but parking can be tricky on the weekends and traffic can also be somewhat crazed so just keep that in mind. This location is right next to the train station in a fun area of Downtown Fullerton. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted immediately. There was a lot of signage about tablet sign ins and waiting in the car, but that must be for when they are very busy on the weekends; today that was not in use. The location appeared clean and we were the only ones there initially; 3-4 more parties joined before we were finished. I have to give a lot of praise for our server - he was immensely helpful! He asked if it was our first time there and told us about all the specials. He offered a physical menu and also showed us where the QR code is for the virtual menu, but also showed us the large board where they're specials and menu items are posted. They have specials every day of the week that are different and a good happy hour from 5-7 ($4 Sapporos!) We ended up trying the Cave bucket with the house seasoning. Our server even helped us make that decision! It arrived in a plastic bag and is meant to just be messy and sloppy on the table, which is fun. I'm not a HUGE seafood boil person but man, my husband LOVED it, was a huge fan and definitely wants to return. I was really impressed with the service, food tasted good and I just loved the cut up limes and salt and pepper -- really pops with the seafood! We also had garlic fries as an appetizer and that was well prepared also, though it seemed like preminced garlic as opposed to fresh garlic, but I get that. Our order was 1 pound of shrimp spicy Cajun style and 1 pound of shrimp mild Cajun style. Unfortunately, the bags were mislabeled. So, since my friend was starving, he enjoyed his "spicy" peeled shrimp first and mentioned later on that they weren't spicy at all. However, when I went to eat my "mild" shrimp, we discovered the mix-up (after taste testing a couple of pieces) and I didn't get to enjoy the food, as mine was too spicy. It ruined my night! I've been going to CC for a bit and finally feel like reviewing. It is good quality seafood and the price isn't bad. My two complaints are that the seafood is served in heated sauce and continues to cook as you eat it. This is most notable with the shrimp. Also the "shears" that they give you are actually dollar store scissors. My buddy and broke our pairs on the king crab last time we were there. Apart from that it is a good boiled crustacean joint. First time here... Of course its COVID and I did takeout!!! 1st off I want to say the flavoring was pretty good. My issue is that is extremely overpriced for what you get. I've gone to far less expensive places and received better quality and larger portions. 2nd was the fact that they stapled my credit card info to my takeout bag that could be seen by anyone standing close enough. I wasnt able to pay over the phone but for some reason they wrote it down anyway and stapled to the bag when I called to order... Kinda wierd. 3rd it was just ok in general. Great food, ordered baked oysters, (garlic butter spicy) crab and (lemon pepper) lobster. The food was delicious! The garlic wasn't super strong and the butter was very creamy, the spicy wasn't very spicy but had a small kick to it. (If you want spicy go the extra mile, haha). Service was great! Food was fresh and hot. Service was excellent and I definitely would come be here if I am in the area.

We ordered shrimp cave style with sides (ex. sausages, corn, potatoes), and it was just fine. Shrimp wasn't as fresh as this restaurant's counterparts, although the size was considerable. The cave style seasoning was nothing special; in fact, I couldn't really taste the seasoning. Service was slow, but that is understandable given the fact that we were a pretty large group (15+ people). COVID-19 accommodations were excellent. They have indoor and outdoor seating that are socially distant, and staff members all wear masks. I felt safe eating at this restaurant. read more
