Spontaneously popped in here on my walk back from a meeting with another business owner, and so glad I did! I love savory pies - especially chicken pot pie, and their chicken pot pie did not disappoint! The crust was made to perfection, and I was told that I could use my air fryer to warm it up when I got home and that was definitely the move! I put it in for about 10 min at 400 and it came out perfect! I was also lucky enough to meet the owner during my pop in, and she was so kind and welcoming and made my experience that much better! When the CRAVINGS hit... hit up Crave Pie! I still remember when this downtown Duluth location was hit by neighboring fire damage and didn't reopen for a hot minute... but so glad to see they're up and running again! There is some limited seating inside the cute little shop but I would prefer to buy a couple mini pies to go! I love that they have mini pies so you don't need to order an entire pie for one person. This place has been my absolute favorite pie spot in Georgia. And in the southern land, pies are the king of desserts. When I lived in Duluth, I frequented this shop at least once a week. Even now when I come to visit, I make sure to still pay this place its proper respects. Located in the heart of downtown Duluth, you can't miss it when walking by. And this store is one of the few places that was around back before this area had much (back in 2016 or so). Fairly small interior with minimal seating so take-out tends to be what most opt for. However, I have stayed here for hours several times to get some work done, albeit without wifi. Regarding the pies they have some regulars which they will have every day along with a list of daily specials. I've tried all their main flavors along with several of their specials, some of which are only offered in certain seasons. My tastes have changed over the years - when I first started going I was all about their chocolate chess pie, which is still outstanding. Now, I tend to prefer the fruitier pies, but really you cannot go wrong with any of them. It's clear they put so much love and care into their product. I'll admit they are a bit expensive for the size but hey, you pay for quality here. Service has always been outstanding in my experience. Obviously some of them may not remember me by name but I'm sure the owner would recognize me for what that's worth. A good southern pie shop- rich decadent sweetness tucked in downtown Duluth. My only thing is the crust that I wasn't quite a fan of, but the fillings were on point. Ordered the chocolate bourbon and lemon chess. Lemon chess was lemony and sweet. Chocolate bourbon super decadent but pairs nicely with coffee. One mini pie can be easily split with 4 friends to be honest- half a pie would have still been a lot. Each pie was about 4-5 inches across. The crust wasn't what I was used to- not a flaky crust. It felt home made which was nice but I think a bit more flake would have helped the decadent filling. The crust felt almost like a hard crust- water, dough, and pinch of salt. When I heard there was a such thing as a stand-alone pie shop I had to check it out! The Mrs and I went in to check them out a little bit before close time and they had a few pies still left out. One thing that surprised me was that they didn't just do dessert pies, but they also had different kind of quiches to choose from as well. Kinda just having a sweet tooth, my wife and I passed on the other pies and went straight for their pecan pie. Once we got home, we popped it in the oven just to warm it up a bit and it tasted amazing! The pecans were super fresh, crunchy, and caramelized. And the dough of the pie was flaky and filled with sweet filling. The small serving pies were adorable! I loooove a fruit pie, especially rhubarb, so I wanted to pop in to see if they just might have some. They didn't this time, but there were plenty of other tempting bites so I snagged a few different flavors for our family to have a taste test. The maple pecan that was a "Today Show favorite" was good. I'd get it again. It was also the favorite of my boys of the ones we tried. The key lime was super tart (she warned me first before I purchased ut) and that's the way I like it so I was not surprised, but I did forget to warn the rest of my family before they taste tested and they weren't fans. It was, however, my fave of the ones we had. The third we tried was the blueberry buttermilk. My boys enjoyed it, but I found it extremely sweet and not very blueberry-y. Overall we enjoyed the presentation and it was fun to try the different pies, but our choices wouldn't have us making a trip just for the pies we tried. For some reason, I expected a little more variety and uniqueness. If you desire some quiche or pecan pie, you found the right spot. I didn't desire any of those but I did buy a pecan pie to go - The name made me curious enough to step in. At home, I warmed up the pie in the toaster oven and it freshened up the crust and warmed the inside just right. What you need to know: This place will make you pie CRAZY! Seriously, almost all the pies are amazing! Service is really top notch, ask for recommendations! Employees wear masks properly. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, so I ended up getting a whole slew of pies (yeah yeah, I know, the whole shopping whole hungry debacle), so needless to say I have a lot to say about this place. Service: Before I get into the pies, I cannot say enough about how nice these ladies were. Greeting you as soon as you walk in, extremely helpful and willing to strike up a conversation, and honest recommendations. This was a truly great service experience. Ambience: This place is tiny but cute. Located in one of those revitalized "old town" sections of a populated town that's popping up all over the place (see: Gentrification), but it's still very cute, walkable, and interesting. They even had seating outside! Definitely coming back. Ok, now what you've been waiting for, the PIES: Chocolate Bourbon Pecan - This was RICH. I mentioned I'm a chocolate slut and they instantly recommended this pie for its unique texture and amazing flavors and they did NOT disappoint! Took me two days to finish because it's so rich, but you get it all in every single bite, the crunch and buttery notes of the pecan, the spice and sweetness of the reduced bourbon, and that rich velvety chocolate flavor, this alone would make me come back. Lemon Raspberry - This was a solid pie. Great sweet and citrusy flavors. Not something I'd come back for, but still a good pie. Key Lime - This was slightly disappointing, but only because I prefer my key lime pies more sweet and this was definitely more tart heavy. So if you're a tart and tangy key lime person, this will be your jam. I bought an extra for my dad and he loved it. Dutch Apple - HEAVEN! I mean you can't go wrong with a classic apple pie can you? They take theirs to the next level, even cold this is SO addicting. They gave me a choice between this and the strawberry apple but mentioned the strawberry was sweeter so I tried this classic and so glad I did! Would definitely make you come back. Chicken Pot Pie - Probably the worst of the bunch. It wasn't that bad tbh, but it just wasn't great. Very bland. Texture was there with that extra thick and creamy chicken filling, but the flavor was just very toned down. Once I added some hot sauce it was miles better, but I expected more. Guess the savory pies aren't their area of strength but maybe their quiches are better. Ended up paying about $40 for the 5 pies I got, so definitely expensive af for mini pies, but if you come here for your cheat days, one pie is def worth it. It's hard to find a good pie bar. If all you're selling is pies your shop has to have the perfect location and pie to die for. Crave hits both marks. Located in beautiful downtown Duluth, Crave stands out with its warm and colorful exterior that blends right in with its surroundings. The staff, which today featured a smiling Grace exuding job satisfaction, are exceptionally friendly and service-oriented. Upon walking in, you immediately undersand that though you may have been thinking about "A" pie, you now will probably need 2-3 as there are just too many to choose from. I've had the coconut cream, banana pudding, apple, chocolate cream, and chocolate almond. Every single one of them provided that flavor that can only be found in "Made with Love" type of establishment that you hope can come close to reminding you of your grandmother's pies. The apple in particular reminds me of getting that hot out-of-the-oven pie I used to drool over as a child. Popped in here yesterday to get a couple pies and see what people are all talking about. We chose three pies, maple pecan, apple, and key lime. The pies are clearly handmade and there are many flavors you can choose from. I suspect they have a rotation of a few flavors each week based on seasonality of fresh ingredients, and some that they have all the time due to their popularity. You want to also note that there are both savory and sweet pies. I can only speak to the apple pie so far, but holy cow was it good. The crust is divine, you can absolutely eat it knowing your workout has prepped you for the caloric intake you are about to inhale. Cinnamon, sugar, butter, flour- I mean, what else do you need in a crust? It is crunchy, some areas not so much- that's the textural juxtaposition you would love to get! Maybe it's the rising costs of everything these days, but I think the price is a little stiff. I can easily see myself reverting back to my old days and getting hooked on these- so I will treat myself on an occasional basis (which means very special occasions only)! Support small businesses! Went to the sister store earlier this week. obviously, these are the same store in terms of brand, it was nice to see slightly different specials of the day. we picked out a few different ones this time which included peanut butter chocolate, chocolate chess, raspberry apple, and salted honey. We couldn't even wait to get to the car before we try it out the peanut butter and it was very rich and delicious. The store is very clean. You can see them making fresh pies right behind the counter. And we showed up right around the time they open and we were the only ones there. Street parking is pretty easy and free. These guys are doing something great in the heart of Duluth. I must say I have passed by here quite a few times and always wanted to check in and see what it was about. I had the dutch apple pie - it just looked too good to pass up and Im not even a big apple fan. The crust is what makes this for me, i loved the sweet and crunchy crust over the pie. I am a bit different so I took it home and threw it in the oven. I gotta say it was amazing hot - and I would recommend you do the same if you try this one. I also wanted to try something with lemon and noticed a raspberry-lemon pie that I had to try! This pie was great! AGAIN - oven for a few minutes to warm things up - but the flavor was on point. So you'll see their menus changing often. They do have standard pies that's available year around. You can order pies of different sizes: 10, 5, and 3 inch pies. When you come in, you'll see all the mini pies for display. They are constantly making them fresh in house. I tried their Bourbon Chocolate Pecan and their Cranberry Apple. They were both good. Delicious treats, cute atmosphere, and friendly staff! My friends and I came here after dinner down the street Friday night. We arrived 40 minutes before closing time, but the staff still gave us an enthusiastic greeting and the lady behind the counter was patient enough to run through every pie they still had left in the glass case. These were so tiny and cute! I ordered two to-go: bourbon chocolate pecan and coconut cream pie. I was too full after dinner to eat them there, but even the next day they were super delicious! i enjoyed a mocha with my company while we sat there and played scrabble. The mocha had a strong chocolate flavor but not too overpowering. Even when they closed, the staff told us not to rush our game, and when we finally left 15 minutes after closing, they enthusiastically asked who won the game. Incredible service!!! The crust is more like a flakey croissant dough versus a heavy, dense dough. I loved this and now wish all pies were made with their dough! The shop is cute and homey. The location is perfect because it is in the heart of downtown Duluth. They closed at 7p the day I went and I dropped in at 6:45p. They still had more than a dozen pies available so I was grateful that I didn't just have the last 2 of my least favorite flavors to choose from. My only complaint is the cost of the pies. Our family LOVES Crave Pie Studio! We stop every time we are in the downtown Duluth area. Given its location in downtown Duluth, parking is not easy. However, the quest to find a space will be worth it. The studio has a few little tables, but doesn't feel like the right spot to hang out for an extended period of time. I have occupied a table with my fam to wolf down pie, but we scoot as soon as we are done. I have heard and read complaints about service, but fortunately, service has been great when we have visited. We have always been greeted warmly and introduced to all the pies. They have always been patient with our questions and indecision! There are usually a variety of pies from which to choose, depending on exactly when you arrive. I would recommend grabbing one to devour right away and maybe a couple more for the road. My favorites have been the banana cream pie, the key lime pie and the jack and coke chess pie. I think the jack and coke chess pie is my all time favorite; it's my husband's favorite, too. We will return again and again. read more

I was going to give this place a 2 stars but.. Because I enjoyed their pies.. I'll give them 3 stars. Every time I come here by myself or with family, the employees seem to be grumpy or unfriendly. The most recent visit was right before Halloween. I came with my brother since we were both off from work that day. I was wanting some good pie, so we went and stopped by. There was a woman at the back counter and she greeted us but didn't seem like she really meant it. Either that's how she greets her customers or she was having a bad day! There were no customers but my brother and I and I wasn't too familiar with their pies either. We had no recommendations from her at all. It's as if she didn't want us to be in there buying their pies. I felt so unwelcomed! I asked what the flavors were for most of the pies they had on display. She answered them but sounded very annoyed. I mean how was I suppose to know what flavors they were?! In the end, I decided to get the Dutch Apple mini pie. I took it to-go. Dutch Apple mini pie - $6.50 As we were leaving the store, we didn't get a "See you, again next time" or a "Thank you so much for stopping by".. None of that! Let's start with this: I can bake a pie. It surprises people that I can take a minimal amount of spices, sugar, butter (ok, lots of it), and apples and make a great apple pie, lattice and all, but that's only from people who don't try this Baking 101 and have only tasted the junk that Publix sells. But I've come to say that you can't get better pies than what's at Crave Pie Studio. It's utterly insane. What makes me sad is this is the kind of place that I'll never get through the menu because I ate one pie and now it's all I ever get. Chocolate bourbon pecan. I've made one of these before, too, but it is ashes in my mouth when compared. I wrack my brain and can't figure out how they do it. Probably they candy the pecans first, not just toast them. Possibly they make a bourbon/butter reduction that goes into the crust as a first layer. Potentially they don't overcook theirs. But I'm not going to try anymore. And this is coming from someone who has a strict rule that the inclusion of nuts ALWAYS ruins a dessert (brownies must be without nuts and I will fight you on this). What I love about their pies is that the personal size is still great with the crust-to-filling ratio. The pies last uncovered for as long as they'll last in my house (4 days for 4 slices, if I'm good). Most of them can be wrapped and frozen and thawed and baked again a week later. Coming from the Midwest I gotta say I'm pretty disappointed. The filling lacked flavor. Portions didn't make up for it and the crust was not the light flakey buttery layers I'm fond of. I don't want to insult the pie or those who made it but I feel as if I could find some ones at the grocery store that are better. I will say the ladies here are very sweet and friendly. They come in pie shots (little shot glasses), 3" and 5" mini pies (enough for one or two), and full pies. The pies come in all varieties including fruit, nut, cream, and custard. Yesterday we chose the lemon chess and bourbon pecan. The lemon was nice and tart, very creamy. Th bourbon was the better of the two, and you can actually taste the bourbon in it. It is delicious. And if you're feeling ambitious and making your own pie, they sell crusts solo. Crave offers beef and chicken pot pies as well. They also offer coffee drinks and espresso.
