The show was a biopic of TLCs journey as a musical performance group, the ups, downs, challenges and losses. I really learned a lot about the group as I listened to them growing up without knowing much about their personal history and life details. The main actors for T-Boz, Left Eye and Chilli were spectacular. Their voices were incredible and evoked a lot of emotions. The show highlighted many of TLCs music as expected and the show exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!

While you're there, you can grab a bite; the menu has sandwiches, salads, paninis, and the like separated into Vegetable Matters (with vegan items marked) and Meatier Issues. The food isn't spectacular, but I don't go for the food; I just want to get a bite before whatever show i'm seeing. However, the prices are reasonable and the portions are fairly good. So if you find yourself in the Backbar before a concert, grab a bite to eat to give you energy for enjoying the show.

I've also seen: L7, anthrax, that guy who does "the cliffs of dover," black label society (yes, again... on new years eve)... shit... I'm sure there were others... The cool thing about the fillmore is that it's general admission, so the tickets won't cost you an arm... and they have amazing, wheelchair accessible balcony seats upstairs. The staff is super friendly and accomodating. And there are tons of places to eat, before the show, in the neighborhood. The fillmore is definitely one of my favorite concert venues.

There was even a coffee bar upstairs and non-alcoholic beverages as well. It is a mixture of some seating but a mostly standing venue. Our spot on the second floor was the perfect vantage point and we could lean on the railing in front of us and a railing was available in each of the tiered standing sections. The venue has a cool look with the lighting around the floors and even has an outdoor balcony on the second floor where you can overlook the waterfront. I want to come back here again for another concert to experience it again.

The main floor is largely standing room, which creates fantastic energy, but there are ticketed seats in the balconies if one prefers enjoying the evening without fighting for territory on the floor. The bars are large and remarkably efficient, and even the bathrooms deserve praise: spacious, clean, and designed to keep crowds moving. Getting in and out is generally painless. Popular shows can produce quite the line outside, but it moves surprisingly quickly. Another point in its favour: you can bring a small bag and an empty water bottle to fill inside, a civilised little convenience during a long show. The Wharf location makes the entire evening even better, with loads of restaurants and bars nearby for dinner or drinks before or after. Great venue, great atmosphere, and consistently enjoyable. I always love seeing shows here.

Representing 2nd quarter 2019 in scrapbook series is Nationals Park. I've been to Nationals Park…read moremultiple times over the past decade. My very 1st game was on Memorial Day 2013, which was a Beltway series against the O's. At the time, I was living in Alexandria; so I was geographically closer to DC than Baltimore. So naturally, I was rooting for the Nats. My friend who was a Phillies fan was rooting for the O's. In 2021, O's became my #1 team, and Nats moved from 2nd favorite to least favorite. Nats gained a bit back, maybe now 4th or 5th least favorite team. In spite of not liking the Nats now, it's still a solid ballpark. At some point, I'll give a 5-star review to Camden Yard in Baltimore. I like Nats Park better than Wrigley Field (Chicago Cubs)...see my 3-star of them from October 2025. Rate Field (Chicago White Sox) I gave 4-stars that same day in October. I think Nats Park is even a bit superior to Rate Field. The thing that is a winning factor for Nats Park is some good city views of US Capitol & various other buildings particularly in the nosebleed seats. The ballpark is spacious. You come in a grand entrance. Their mascot is Screech, an oversized bald eagle. But even more well known are the oversized Presidents. I've said hello to Lincoln (my favorite President) as well as Washington, Jefferson, & Teddy Roosevelt greeting fans. By far, Teddy is the most popular people root for when they race around the ballpark in the 4th inning. I'd be happy for Teddy as that's what the majority want, but I don't have a strong opinion. Regardless of who wins, it's entertaining to watch. In September 2015, I took pics of US Presidents in race greeting fans in the front. For a few years, they were honoring William Howard Taft, who was the 1st President to throw out a ceremonial pitch. It was in April 1910 in DC, the Washington Senators vs. Philadelphia Athletics. I'm pictured with Calvin Coolidge who they used for some of 2015 season in the race. Eating options are plentiful, but of course overpriced, but some good unique variety. In August 2024, I had Arepa, which was great. Fun fact: The last FIVE games I was rooting for the other teams (Rangers, White Sox, O's, Reds, & Brewers all lost when I saw them), and Nats won. My intention is good luck to the other team, but just my luck Nats win every time. Maybe I should go when Dodgers or Yankees visit; that's when I'd want to give Nats some luck! In July 2023, I was rooting for Texas Rangers. I had the starting pitcher in my Fantasy baseball league. My friend was running a bit behind. I waited by Metro for him, and I was checking on my phone Rangers didn't score in 1st inning. Then, it was Nats turn at bat, and all of sudden I heard loud cheering, it was a 3-run homer, then a 1-run homer. 4-0. My pitcher got lit up with 36 ERA in the 1st inning. I was annoyed with a rain delay that occurred. Almost the entire DC area wasn't experiencing rain but an isolated thunderstorm blew through Alexandria & Reagan National Airport and came right over Nats Park. The rain lasted maybe 15 minutes, but the game was delayed 1.5 hours, which I thought was ridiculous. I thought it might've been a ploy to get people to buy more drinks or food. But I wasn't going to do that. So instead of eating dinner after the game perhaps 6:30 or 7, it was after 8 PM. In September 2023, I had extra leave time for work I needed to use by end of month. I went to a Wednesday day game against White Sox. It was high scoring game for Nats 13 runs, and slightly below the median with only 3 for the White Sox. In May 2024, I was decked out in my O's shirt & hat for the Beltway series. Of course, my O's were bums...their final # of runs was a big fat O, while Nats got 3 or a sideways curly W for them. Then, Nats beat Cincinnati Reds when I was there in July 2024. Carly Rae Jepson performed that night, which was cool. Finally, in August 2024, I was rooting for my Milwaukee Brewers. But of course, they had to be total bums until 8th inning, where they caught up to only lose by 1 run. Conclusions: Nats Park is good solid ballpark. It's not the most architecturally appealing on the design like more the classic Camden Yard style, but it still does the job for good spectating.

It was a wonderfully pleasant experience and overall well done for a first year, imo. Granted I've only been to a small handful of music festivals but this one will definitely be one on my short list for years to come. LOCATION Located in West Potomac Park by the Tidal Basin just outside of the MLK Memorial the music festival provided a very scenic route and plenty of picturesque places to stop and take in the music while taking a break between sets. Take a picture under the logo banner with the Washington Monument and one of the stages as your backdrop. Sit on a park bench and look across the Potomac River watching boats drift by or lay under a cherry tree and admire the Air Force Memorial in Arlington. While not pillowy pink like it is in the springtime for the immensely popular Cherry Blossom Festival, the park still retains a lot of its beauty in the autumn months. Now the down side...close proximity to Reagan National Airport so constant air planes going by, sometimes so loudly it drowned out some of the music. But not to the point where the party stops! Just a few patches here. MUSIC/LINEUP All in all, a good lineup I think. Rock, hip hop, folk, dance and more. It didn't skew towards one particular music genre and included bands new and established. Will it have something for everyone? Not this year. BUT!! I think in the years to come it'll only get better. TRANSPORTATION Since it's in a city you don't have to worry about being stranded in the woods of a podunk area. However, it being in West Potomac Park, don't expect any easy ways in and out of the park. This place is notorious for becoming a horrid display of notorious bumper-to-bumper traffic and too few parking spaces. If you're driving, don't try to park here. I repeat. DO. NOT. TRY. TO. PARK. HERE. Instead, leave the car at a parking garage in the city or at a metro stop with a parking garage (if you're from out of town go to wmata.com to look up lines/stations) and walk. Or better yet, rent a bike from one of the many Capital bikeshare stations and bike there. You can return it to the bikeshare station located near the main stage off of Ohio & West Basin Drive. If you choose to bike with your own wheels the festival has a separate bicycle parking lot. You also have the option of taking a Pedicap or walking up a little further away from the festival ground to catch a cab, Uber or Lyft. KIDS This festival is SUPER kid friendly! I mean, don't expect this to be a KidsBop fest but if you bring your little ones there's plenty things for them in mind to keep them rocking while you're two-stepping. There was a Kid Zone, cordoned off and designated JUST for kids and their parental guardian that included a hair styling section to get some bright temporary hair color, a music petting zoo where kids got to get one-on-one with different music instruments and learn more about them and a few other stations that made me want to try to tag along with a family just so I have an excuse to get in on some of the interactive stations. Le Sigh. Oh and in the inaugural year one child 10 and under got in free with one paid adult ticket! THE CAUSE From their website: "The Trust for the National Mall - an official partner of the National Park Service - is leading the charge to restore and improve the National Mall and honor its ideals for future generations through the new Landmark Campaign. Landmark Music Festival kicks off this monumental national campaign to bring awareness and funds to America's Front Yard - all in a single Festival weekend unlike any other." No, they didn't have PSAs constantly looping but the cause is clearly presented and interwoven with the festival experience and the picturesque scenes with different memorials all throughout really brings the message home. You can feel like you're chipping in towards a larger cause that'll benefit generations to come. OVERALL If you're in the DC area and your schedule/budget allow for it, GO! I mean it's a major music festival right in your metro area. DO IT! If you're from out of town it's still very worthwhile to consider checking it out.

Review for Saturday only…read more I came across this festival because a band (daughter) I was going to see in NYC added a show in DC at the Landmark Music Festival (LMF). The price for one day was fair ($105), but the price for 2 days was a steal ($150)!! I knew it would be difficult navigating downtown DC since the Pope just left, but honestly, it wasn't that bad. I ended up parking near the Pennsylvania building, north of the African American Museum, and walked to the site--about 20 minute walk . Parking was pretty cheap too, $15 all day. I should've brought my bike since they offered bike parking near the site. I got to the festival around 1pm. The crowds weren't large. It was pretty nice setup, the staff and security were friendly. The overall vibe when I entered was super chill and everyone was enjoying the decent weather. I filled my camelback at the water filling station. And browsed the layout. 4-5 stages, 3-4 bars, 2-3 main food areas, kids section, art installation, bathrooms etc. I heard DC Eats was gonna be representing and I noticed some familiar names since I keep up with popular food trends in major cities. The prices for food and beer were fair and reasonable--the best bang for buck I thought was the falafel sandwich, pretty amazing in fact. $8! Beer was $8. I was using cash despite LMF offered "cashless bracelets" but I don't' wanna deal with mix ups if there was an issue with that payment. Another festival goer and I agreed that Tokio Underground kinda dropped the ball! We both got in line thinking it would be faster than tacos, but they only had 1 person making bao's at a time! AND they ran out of vegetarian (Which LMF did offer A LOT of vegetarian options overall). The taco, shake shack, falafel, fries vendors had like 10 people working! Being the inaugural concert, I was truly amazed at how nice it was! The vibe was just amazing for the early parts. Festival goers brought kids and everyone was having a good time. It wasn't a rowdy concert. I felt that most people were here for the music which was refreshing. The crowds were "small" early in the day 1pm-3:30pm. When I laid down a few minutes before Daughter came on, there was a small'ish crowd. But when they got on stage, I turned around and it was completely packed! Wha!??!? Where did you guys come from? They are a fairly small unknown band in America, so it was nice seeing people enjoy their indie/folk music. some were younger than me... There were some hiccups. As the day went on, the crowds grew and grew!!! I couldn't believe the difference between 1pm and 5pm. It was literally 10-15x larger or something! Overcrowded! But again, not a rowdy crowd so not the biggest issue. This created a horrible wait for food and beer. the lines were ridiculous. Then the bathroom situation was even more ridiculous! I dont' think they anticipated that many people were attending??? Or their logistics were off. This was definitely a turn off but it is expected for an event this size and for their first year. Personal hiccup - while watching Daughter, two young girls decide to slide and stand RIGHT in front of me 3 songs in. WTF? Then they proceed to talk almost none-stop during the set..I really dont' care what that cryptic text from Jason means and how you should reply! Just leave and go watch Wale already. PS, you had way too much eye makeup. I do hope they keep LMF prices the same for the upcoming years! I came from Philadelphia and would love to make the trip for both days if the lineups were good! Definitely a nice festival and would totally recommend for those looking for a chill vibe.

My first time at the Harman Hall theatre to see Paranormal Activity. I was so blown away by this…read moreshow! I'm still in awe of the robe scene IYKYK. The actors were so good in their respective roles and I was completely immersed in the story. It came together at the end really well and the practical effects were incredible. I loved the staging with the 2 floors and getting to see everything all at once. The theatre itself was very nice. The bathrooms were spacious and clean, the ushers were kind and helpful, and the seats were relatively comfortable. Pro tip, choose row E if you want extra legroom!

I visited the Shakespeare Theatre Company's Harman Hall this past Sunday for a performance of…read moreParanormal Activity (their seasons include non-Shakespeare works), and I was really impressed by the production and the building itself. (FYI: STC has productions in two separate theaters - Harman Hall and Klein Theatre, so make sure you know which location is the location for your production). Harman Hall is beautiful - modern, bright, large. We sat in the front row of the mezzanine, and the seats were great but I think most of their seats would be great. Unlike the prices are outrageous, I often like to sit in the front row of the mezzanine when I attend the theater, because I'm short and often find my view obstructed by people in front of me in theaters. Because Harman Hall is modern and newer than historic theaters (on Broadway in NYC, for example), the incline of seats in the theater is much more pronounced than in other theaters. I didn't need to sit in that front row, because I probably could have seen from anywhere. Our performance wasn't sold out, and the theater was not packed or crowded - short lines for the bar (especially on the top floor where we were sitting anyway), short lines for the bathroom. The location is convenient, near a couple of Metro stations, lots of restaurants and bars, and a few museums. We parked in a garage I reserved a spot in on SpotHero, which was less than $15 for the day, too. Although I tend to focus my reviews of theaters on the theater itself (you could see a good production at a theater and then a production you don't like as much - but you can still appreciate the theater - its comfort, its location, its amenities), I will say that the production we saw was interesting and thought-provoking. I'd say I'm likely to return, but I have tickets for a production in April, so I know I will be.

There are street parking spaces on one side of the museum, but it'll be tricky to get a spot. They let people in at the top of the hour. You'll scan a barcode at the entrance to get to a website to sign up for free tickets. Then, you get ticket barcodes for them to scan at the entrance. Having been to the Chantilly A&S multiple times, I thought this museum wouldn't be anything new. I'm a little off here. The two A&S museums offer different things. The Chantilly one has a lot of space to house so many more planes. If you want to see the actual planes, Chantilly is the place. It's more complete in my opinion. The DC A&S is more educational. It offers a more complete history of human flight, but not a lot of space to show you that many planes. You'll find all the way from the Wright brothers' beginning, and space explorations to Star Wars X-Wings here. I like seeing the astronaut food section.
