I love the fillmore. I'm really starting to rack up the shows I've seen there. This time around we…read moresaw zakk Sabbath and black label society... love me some zakk wylde. I've also seen: L7, anthrax, that guy who does "the cliffs of dover," black label society (yes, again... on new years eve)... shit... I'm sure there were others... The cool thing about the fillmore is that it's general admission, so the tickets won't cost you an arm... and they have amazing, wheelchair accessible balcony seats upstairs. The staff is super friendly and accomodating. And there are tons of places to eat, before the show, in the neighborhood. The fillmore is definitely one of my favorite concert venues.

The Fillmore is an excellent venue for live music. Why I like it:…read more*The acoustics here are really good *The sightlines are decent, there are a few spots near the back that can be hard to see from during a sold out show but these can be avoided with some adjustments *Entering is quick and easy thanks to the number of staff they employ and the early communication of these staff members *Parking is nearby (and some nights free of charge). *The Fillmore has a great setup for merchandise and meeting the band without disrupting the flow of the current peformers *The bathroom being downstairs is also a plus as the lines, if there are any, won't feed out into the crowd like at some venues. Overall, this is a really good place to see a show.

The inside set up with table seating was absolutely incredible. The sound of music and atmosphere gives high quality. The food and drinks were really good. We ordered and shared everything from lemon pepper wings, Bang Bang shrimp and Alfredo pasta with Salmon. I treated my mom to see one of her idols Regina Bell for her birthday. She absolutely loved everything about this mommy and daughter date night. We had so much fun. My only con was I had to flag down my waiter several times after our initial orders were placed which was a bit disappointing. The food and drinks are on the pricey side with tip and gratuity added on the bill. Other than that, we had a great experience and I will definitely love to return in the near future. Parking can be street parking or garage parking which ever is easiest.

The food is wayyy overpriced for the quality received and my wife should be able to have a decent meal along with our drinks. They need to revamp the whole menu and hire more bartenders because once more people came, it took FOREVER to get our drinks. Once you get this straightened out, we will be back.

    1. Location: It is located by the Takoma metro and has an abundance of parkings around the venue. I…read morethought the location was easy to discern with clear signs to identify the establishment. 2. Activities: This venue allows you to enjoy songs performed by live bands. I came here to support a rock and roll band comprised of my student, his father, and a few others. They were fantastic and the sound system was great. 3. Service: There is definitely room for improvement. I think it is best that the location states that there is a cover charge of $10, because the door man would not let me in until $10 donation was actually donated. I thought new chairs could be brought in to replace the current chairs. A new paint job with musical murals can bring this place to live. Perhaps a schedule should either be printed or posted inside the venue so that the audiences will know who is performing. There really isn't any assistance, except for the guy in the front desk and the one working the sound system. 4. Costs: $10 as a donation, but it actually is a requirement. Make sure you bring that amount in cash. 5. Overall experience: I absolutely loved the band. I thought they did a great job. I also believe in this venue and think that with a few adjustments, it can be a wonderful location for local bands to showcase their talent. This can be turned into a real money making machine if it is more organized and cleaned. Side Notes: N/A

I like the idea behind this place, but the execution is lacking…read more I've lived about a block away from this place for almost 3 years and until 3 months ago, I thought it was an electronics store. That says something about their advertising. I should mention that I'm a huge Takoma and moderate music fan. But I had no idea what this place was until I found out a friend of mine was playing there. Because my friend was playing there, I checked out their calendar and thereby found out another artist I happen to like was playing there. I went for the other artist and was embarrassed by the turn out. There were like 10 people there, half of whom I'd brought with me. The advertising was ridiculous. This artist is seriously talented and she deserved more than 10 people in the audience. The fact that me, a fan of hers, only found out about the concert through happenstance of my friend playing there, demonstrates how bad a job they do marketing themselves. Not only that, but their website's homepage isn't even updated regularly. The calendar is updated, but you have to know to go straight to the calendar, because their homepage is months behind. The guy who runs the place doesn't seem interested in reaching out to the various listserves and websites in DC that advertise live music and cheap events. This is a pity because the place is conveniently located and there are many people who would probably come here if they knew it existed. I hate putting down a place like this that seems community and volunteer run, but its unfair to the people who come from out of town to play here not to do an adequate job advertising and maintaining the website. I do volunteer work for other community organizations and it is key to have an updated website, listserve, and communications system - people need to know about things in order to partake.

Society Seafood has officially revamped, renovated, and reopened with a refreshed concept centered…read morearound upscale coastal seafood and bold Caribbean-inspired flavors, so I had to check it out. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, which were rich and flavorful, followed by the Grand Marnier Society Wings--a standout appetizer with a great balance of sweet and savory flavors. The Mac & Cheese was creamy and made for the perfect side. For our entrées, we ordered the Calypso Pan Seared Branzino and the Coconut Curry Snapper. Both dishes were served with vegetables of the day, rice and peas, and sweet plantains, creating a well-rounded and satisfying meal. The seafood was cooked well, and the Caribbean-inspired flavors added a unique twist to each dish. For drinks, we enjoyed The Pearl, the Lavender French 75, The Golden Hour, and an Old Fashioned. Each cocktail was well-crafted and paired nicely with the menu. We finished with the Warm Cookie Skillet, topped with vanilla bean ice cream and a caramel drizzle. It arrived warm, gooey, and was the perfect dessert to share. Beyond the food, the renovated space feels modern and inviting, making it a great option for date nights, celebrations, or a night out with friends. If you're looking for an elevated seafood experience with Caribbean-inspired flavors, Society Seafood is worth checking out.
