He was dismissive to my concerns, attempted to exam without gloves, and cut my gum. After lifting my hand to his view to stop I jumped out the chair and told him my concerns with the exam. His responsive was loud and aggressive, I left and called my insurance to report his office. I wish I saw these reviews before. I have now found a wonderful dentist on Lockwood, she is the polar opposite thank goodness

I knew going in that I had some serious issues; I'd been hearing for years I needed to see a periodontist, but it takes everything for me to get to the regular dentist -- they terrify me. Now, though... it was clear, from the pain in my mouth and just to look at my teeth that I needed serious help. So I went. Everyone is friendly, informative, the vibe in the place is welcoming -- you can tell people like working there. Dr. Cote is very informative and positive. He set me up for deep cleaning to try to treat the problems and said it looked like I could keep my teeth. Yay! First deep cleaning I had a hygienist -- John, I believe -- who was very gentle. Second deep cleaning was Dr. Asuaga, who was thorough; no pain and all went well, but John was perhaps too gentle and Dr. Asuaga was determined to get every last little bit. Alas, it was not enough, which I was expecting. So now it is time for laser gum surgery to manage the problem. Pricey, but... I paid upfront because I trust they will help me keep my teeth. Dr. Cote said this will solve the problem (provided I up my dental hygiene habits and go to the dentist more often), and I believe him. No one was trying to up-sell me. Dr. Cote said if the procedure was one I could not afford, I could go every 3 months and keep up with cleanings while I saved. No pressure to sign on to a procedure my insurance won't cover. The only real vibe I get is that he'd like me to keep my teeth -- and that is what you want from your dentist. I will update when laser surgery is done, but I do not anticipate any stars being removed.

Their sign says to "sign in and have a seat and they'll call you if additional information is needed". At first I waited for the woman to pick up the chart as she would have saw that I checked off the box for new patient. She didn't acknowledge me standing there, didn't ask what I was waiting for, nothing!! To "respect" their sign, I sat down. The woman picked up the sign in sheet 26 minutes later, 4 minutes before my daughter's appointment time, this is when I was handed new patient forms and was told that she'd call the insurance to verify coverage. After ANOTHER 30 minutes passed, I asked the woman about how long it would be before my daughter was called as I had to go back to work. I reminded her of the appointment time my daughter had versus the time it was, she said 1 person was before her and she didn't know how long AND "there was nothing she could do". My daughter didn't get seen until a whole hour AFTER her appointment time. What's the point of having an appointment if you're not going to see patients at their scheduled times? A doctor knows approximately how long a procedure should take and thus should know how many slots and slot times they allow for a certain amount of people or type of visit. They need to work on scheduling and hospitality. I could see if we were late but we were more than on time. Most offices tell you to come in 15 minutes before the scheduled time - we were there 30 minutes prior.

That whole side of my mouth got so distended and my appearance so altered I will have to have it undone. When I went to an oral surgeon about it, he diagnosed an abscess right where she had done surgery and I had to have more surgery to drain that not long after. She was constantly pricking my gums with anesthesia instead of an injection. After all that, she had the nerve to have her lawyer try to get her paid from our secondary insurance. No apology for the delay, no thanks for your patience, just "You just have to wait." When I let her know that there was an FSA deadline approaching, she said, "What's the big deal, it's just five dollars." I don't care if it's $5 or $500, as a customer who has already paid, I am entitled to a receipt without hassle. Repeatedly impolite, impatient, and condescending, Mary is reason enough for me to switch to another dental provider ASAP. After receiving terrible care at Union Square Dental (you can see my review of that HORRENDOUS place), I went to see Dr.Katz. I had one PAINLESS root canal on my upper right first molar, and will be getting a crown for this tooth. He doesn't accept my insurance, so he offered me a very fair discount if I paid cash. In total, all of this work will cost a mere $660.00. I know that may sound like a lot, but considering that Union Square Dental gave me a $3074.00 estimate after my insurance paid 60%, $660.00 with no insurance coverage is nothing. I should also add that Union Square Dental originally told me I needed two root canals and two crowns, claiming my premolar also needed work, but Dr. Katz was able to repair this second tooth with a filling and assured me that no additional work was necessary.
