Karaoke night was so fun, the drinks are amazing and the Bobcat fries with brisket were so good definitely recommend. Our sever Ian was so attentive and had great recommendations on drinks and food. Come here for a good time and definitely request Ian if he's working! read more

Love this place it's my favorite place for margaritas and appetizers! Also great salad bar &My son loves the burgers and fries! The food here is not consistent but my husband & I still come for drinks however the draft beer hasn't been as good it comes out room temperature and stale really do hope they fix that because we haven't been going as much due to that.. read more

CRAFThouse - Beer was hot jalapeño margarita was great ! - New American Near Me - San Marcos, Texas

We have eaten here twice now, once for dinner and once for Sunday brunch. Dinner was great, service was fine. I had the ahi tacos and they were really good. Not enough bar tenders though. But the second time..... we waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for our food!!!!!!!!! There were 4 of us.....! Ridiculous =-( All we ordered was a queso, chicken & waffles, and a breakfast burrito. Our waitress kept saying "sorry guys yalls food should be coming out soon, the kitchen is backed up." I think next time we won't go during prime time Sunday brunch. read more

I recently came here with a couple of my buddies after a night out. I had high hopes because one of my friends recommended this place. However, my experience was anything but pleasant. I order the brisket mac n cheese and not only was the food flavorless and lackluster, but I was also disheartened to find a hair in my fries. Adding insult to the injury, my Dr. Pepper arrived without ice, which made it less refreshing on a hot day. Moreover, the service was subpar, as our server seemed to stare into my soul, making the experience uncomfortable. On top of everything, my divorced friend of 20 years tagged along to the restaurant out of pity because his wife cheated on him with me. Suffice to say, I was hoping for a much better dining experience at Crafthouse. Cannot recommend. Views were rather nice though. read more

Don't eat here! Service is the worst, it is ALWAYS hot Wait people have no clue what beer is on tap or what they have run out of for day. They charge gratuity on 6+ more automatically... biggest waste of money. Will never go back....too many other places to go. read more

I would like to start by saying, i am appalled by the service, or shall i say lack thereof at this place. For starters, the manager refused to serve us in the section we were in, mind you we have been to this establishment on numerous occasions and have never experienced that before. Then to make matters worse, I go to the bar with enough time before last call only to be told that they were no longer serving... this was 20 minutes before they closed and I had been waiting at the bar with no kind if acknowledgment. Safe to say they have a lot of things to work on before they can call themselves an established restaurant. read more

Not too fond of this place! While they do have amazing food, they do not do a great job at keeping this place clean and safe for their guest! While eating here awhile back, I looked up and saw some rodents in the restaurant! I soon became very uncomfortable. I don't enjoy giving negative reviews, but I truly never have the desire to eat here again and I truly believe everyone should be aware of the condition of this restaurant. read more

This was the first time that my son and I went to check this place out. We apparently got there before the big rush. The server started out being attentive. She took our drink order and food order and then disappeared. I agree with the common theme here. The service was entirely TOO slow. I would have rated them much lower if the food had not been good. Our server never came back to refill our drinks at all. My son's Chicken and Waffles were good. I ordered the Frito Pie, which was more of a "kiddie" size. The cheese in it was not even melted. Their "famous" chili was ok. It was a tad bit over seasoned. I was almost "heartburn city". For the price, I expected portions to be a tad bit larger. Service could use some help. The table when we sat down was dirty. The server had to wipe it down. I am not really sure where she kept disappearing to. I saw another female server checking her phone ever 2 minutes. They could not have been that busy if a server was messing with her phone. I get that its a college town and college kids do not expect much in terms of service. I might give them another try as their menu looked really good. If you are not in a hurry, then check this place out, but do not expect to be "wowed" by the service. read more

Went in yesterday for breakfast, I ordered waffles they were okay not fancy for the price. They were super thin like thin pancakes....waffles are thick! Service was good until I noticed they charged my credit card twice the next day. Update called the craft-house spoke with a manager and he said it happens allot. Wow! Then the GM got on the phone and send in the service industry mistakes happen...I will never return to this place! read more

I was hesitant based on the negative reviews but we had brunch here today and had good service for as busy as they were. The $4 bloody mary was great! We had queso, which was flavorful. I had the brisket tacos and my buddy had the breakfast hash. It was really good. We sat at a table outside and enjoyed the weather. Overall, it was awesome. We have a new spot. Glad we gave it a shot. read more

I hate writing this, but here we go. The brisket hash was truly one of the best breakfast items I have ever had in my life, period. It is on the strength of the brisket hash that I write this, in hopes that these guys will sort themselves out so I can come back and enjoy it again. Our server was sweet and friendly, but she took a million years to stop by our table, and she never brought us our beers. We ordered queso as an appetizer. The chips were store-bought, which wouldn't have been the end of the world, but for the fact that the queso was lukewarm. My girlfriend's hashbrowns were wet, and cool. She was served butter and jam with her toast - I was not. I'm bummed. This place has a great interior, good atmosphere, and interesting menu items... but the actual experience and food was sorely lacking. read more

We ate there or we're going to eat there this weekend we went in for breakfast. They were out of milk, they were out of orange juice. The coffee was served and filthy mugs and when I open the silverware from the napkin the silverware had food on it and it was greasy. Needless to say we canceled our order and walked out. Do not eat there because if the dishes looked that dirty imagine what the kitchen looks like. It was disgusting. I should've known when there were only two tables that had customers in them. We walked one block down to a little café that was packed and had the best food in town! read more

Let me start with it was not crowded or even busy so the kitchen nor wait staff was not overwhelmed. Of the few people inside, they had been there a long while just having drinks. Our waitress was okay-ish, but not great. Water was not filled up, took a long time to get a waitress, not sure how often she was checking to see if our food was ready as it took a really long time. The food was not good. Mac n Cheese had an odd flavor and served in a paper bowl from HEB. Pesto pasta was boxed pasta salad from HEB with no flavor. Shrimp tacos were downright pathetic. The taco was empty, literally empty!!! except three tiny shrimp the size of my thumb nail. I asked where the slaw or the sauce was and she siad "well, I questioned the chef because I thought it looked odd too" and it was left right there. Nothing else to fix the problem. NOT recommended unless you want a beer only. read more

if you want good customer service dont come here. "please seat yourself" does not mean that u should neglect your customers. the guy that wears the polo shirt with maroon and gold bobcat brought us water and didnt come back. we waited 20 minutes and we left. he kept on looking at us but no one came. their food looked good but too bad their customer service sucked read more

New favorite spot. Not only was the food great, our waitress was AMAZING and the atmosphere is fantastic to just sit and hangout. I got the salad bar, small, and our waitress gave me a large plate for the same price. Boyfriend got a chicken sandwich something with pulled pork mac and cheese and loved it. The salad bar is great, fresh and has a ton of options. Our waitress was seriously so great. Gave me a 8 dollar margarita for 2.50, boyfriend also got a screwdriver for 2.50. She was perfectly attentive and just the right amount of friendly. We're already planning on going back tomorrow- loved it here and love that you can replace any burger patty for a VEGAN patty for no up charge. Damn. Totally gonna try it next time. read more

Wow! This place completely blew me away! We went there for breakfast on the first day of our trip to SM and loved it so much we ended up going there the next day for breakfast as well. I got the breakfast nachos, which were delicious! My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito and loved it as well! The ambiance of the whole place was so chill and cool. There is a nice patio with great views of the square. We went in the beginning of June so even with the fans it was still a bit too hot for us. The price of everything is truly what shocked me, it was all so reasonable! The service was fantastic, we never felt ignored but also never felt like we were being hoovered around. This will forever be a must stop for all future trips to SM! read more

The Crafthouse side of the bar is okay, they have decent food, atmosphere and specials, The DaqFaq side however is just gross, perpetually sticky bar, staff more interested in flirting than serving customers, and really gross bathrooms that no one is apparently paid enough to clean. I pass through this bar fairly often since its near where I live and some of my friends like it, and in all fairness some of their beer and daiquiri specials are very decent. Its sad that someone obviously put hard work into designing a cool bar with good food and then turned it over to rude and incompetent college kids. read more

Awful. Me and my girl wanted to go for breakfast here since we had never been here before. I called and apparently the manager picked up the phone she was very rude and I asked her a couple of questions about the breakfast menu and their 'farm to table options' and she said and I quote "we have a very large menu and it MAYBE farm to table I mean that's what we've been told" That was the most shadiest answer I've ever heard from a restaurant manager. I'm very skeptical about their farm to table claims I really hope it's not a lie just to get more business in the door. In the end we decided not to go to this place as our first impression with the manager was very bad- I can only imagine how awful the service must be. read more

The nachos were a waste of $10 you can get better at a local football game for cheaper. The brisket smelled like the inside of a porta potty. The food was bland and the only thing worth getting is the drinks. The service was nice nothing on them they did great but the food is not great at all please read the reviews and save your true disappointment. read more

This was a great place to spend a hot summer afternoon with friends. The food was great. Everyone liked their menu choices. The beer was cold and priced right. Always great food. I've tried a few items on the menu and the only thing I've tried not worth it are the nachos. Saturday's, $2.50 daiquiris. The chicken and waffles, yum. Green bar, yum. Waffle breakfast sandwich, fucking YUM! read more

This is the second time we've been to Crafthouse since they opened a short time ago. To say we are craving it is an understatement. Today we ordered the Crafthouse Poppers which are applewood smoked bacon dates with goat cheese...OH MY GOODNESS. They absolutely melt in your mouth and are sinfully unsinful (I mean, it's a date, right....gotta be healthy). We also had the Smoked Brisket Nachos with house smoked brisket the likes of which any Texan would be proud to call their own. Listen, EVERYTHING here is house made. Nothing is frozen or pre-made. The queso...on top of the in-house smoked brisket or by itself will set you free! There's really not enough I can say about this place. The atmosphere is on point with outdoor seating under the awning and PLENTY of seating in the restaurant. Lots of beer on tap along with just about every kind of drink you could even think about consuming. Bottom line, from food to drinks to atmosphere and service you will not go wrong with the Crafthouse. It's located on the corner just off the main square in San Marcos. If you're here for school, visiting your college kid, or just driving through, it is absolutely worth the visit. You will not regret it, and might just find yourself craving it (as I do). read more

Right on the square and great vibes. The brisket grilled cheese is a must have, as well as the all day breakfast. Drinks are good, $3 daqs!

Pretty dope spot. I graduated over a year ago and came back to watch the National Championship with some friends. Wasn't too crowded but still a fun atmosphere. It is a nice change of pace from your typical square restaurant/bars. Food was better than expected (got some spicy burger, can't remember the name) and was impressed by the beer menu. Large craft draft selection and some super solid canned beers. Will probably stop by again next time i'm in town. read more

I was really excited to eat and experience CRAFThouse. Unfortunately our server was absolutely horrible. She didn't care, was not attentive to our table, she was disrespectful, she had the worst attitude I've ever seen for a server. As a server myself I take pride in my service she had absolutely no pride. The burger I ordered medium came out well done. At least the MiamiVice was good. read more

To be fair I must first mention that this gastropub just opened and is more than likely working out some kinks. A little about the location. San Marcos, Texas is a college town with a charming downtown area. CRAFThouse chose a very strategic location and the impressive build out is a nod to the Texas Hill Country. It is casual and comfortable and sits the overall ethos of San Marcos. Unfortunately, the service and food quality do not (at this time) match the atmosphere. First, the drinks menu is an interesting mix of craft beer, wine and craft cocktails. I ordered a Grapefuitini- Deep Eddy Vodka, grapefruit juice, pineapple and a poprock coated rim. Sadly, my drink came with out the promised poprock coated rim but the drink itself was tasty. The food menu offers an unexpected mix of American favorites, Texas BBQ and Tex-Mex. However, again the food simply does not met expectations. My dining partners brisket tacos were cold but her fries were hot. The tacos also do not come with a sauce which is odd. I ordered the Pulled pork Mac n Cheese Grilled Cheese sandwich and fried asparagus. again a disappointment. The sandwich was very dry but has real potential. I feel that makinf this a "wet" sandwich possibly with a bechamel or a creamy BBQ sauce. The fried asparagus suffers the same problem. The dish should come with a house sauce or salad dressing at the very least. Finally, we waited a very long time for our food. I really have high hopes for CRAFThouse and will definitely give it another try in a month or so. I recommend that you go for drinks and sample some of the starters. read more

Apparently they do their own brisket...anything brisket was recommended...tried the Hawaiian brisket tacos. 3 out of 5 maybe...wife's burger was good she said. Ambience is cool. Love the layout. Excellent wings - the best I've had in a while. Probably top three!! All good was excellent - and the bar and staff were all super friendly and attentive. The bartender Taylor was really attentive and pleasant and made an awesome Bloody Mary too!! And $2 land sharks 16oz cans all day!!! Def will b going back here next time we visit out son at Texas State. The wings are a must!!! The food's okay for bar food, but you can find it anywhere in town. The service is so slow, and it seems like your server just disappears like a magic trick. They never know what drinks they've run out of either, which is just lack of communication. You can't come ask someone to change their drink order twice cause you're out and then tell them you have no clue what we have let me check, or bring food but no silverware and just disappear. So overall foods okay, but the slowwww service just doesn't make it worth it. You can get the same or better food for half the time. read more
