If I could give this place a zero I absolutely would. The sausage came out with the packaging still on it. They have no knives so we had to use a plastic knives to cut sausage that was tremendously overcooked. They have no butter, had to bring out melted cooking butter. Our server was very nice. SOLID 5+ STARS. Took out of town visitors here for lunch. And we started with some appetizers: bobcat fries; brisket nachos; and potstickers All were huge portions and all delicious. For our main entree: a grilled cheese; a patty melt; and the bacon queso burger were chosen and all were served with fries, all were quite tasty. Our server, Lacy, was very attentive and very personable. When we return, we will definitely ask for Lacy! The vibe was chill college town hangout chic. I sat for 50 minutes waiting and not 1 person came to help me. I walked to the bar and asked the 1 waiter if I'm supposed to order somewhere else, he ignored me so i just stared until he said, yeah the bartender can help you. So i walk to the empty area of the bar and waited another few minutes for the bartender to take my order before i just gave up and left. There was female waitress (blonde) she walked around in circles doing nothing or playing on her phone. I've never waited 50 minutes in an empty restaurant before, was ridiculous. Unfortunately, our experience at the CRAFThouse left a lot to be desired. Despite the restaurant only having a few occupied tables, it took an unreasonably long time for anyone to even acknowledge our presence. We ordered water, a round of drinks, and an appetizer. The blue raspberry margarita was undrinkable -- it tasted overwhelmingly like rubbing alcohol with no hint of flavor, and we ended up sending it back. For the appetizer, we tried the fried mac and cheese, which tasted like it had been pulled straight from the freezer and deep-fried. It lacked seasoning, texture, and overall appeal. As for the chicken quesadilla, it was edible but bland -- definitely nothing to write home about. By the time we left, we were all joking (half-seriously) about whether we'd end up with food poisoning. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this spot based on our visit. I was in town for a work visit and stopped here based on a quick glance at the menu. The service was great but the food was disappointing. I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ tacos and it comes with a side. The chopped brisket tacos came out with cold pineapple slapped on top straight from a can of pineapple chunks. It was meh. The brisket was ok but the pineapple really brought this down quite a bit. The pulled pork Mac & cheese was the side I chose. It was inedible. The Mac & cheese alone was bland and the meat on top was not great. I tried to add bbq sauce, but it did not help. My husband and I came from Dallas and were highly recommended by friends and family to come to this place. We sat down and waited a bit long for someone to take our drink order. I ordered the patty melt and after biting into it, the meat was pink and not fully cooked. I also didn't get my fries because they were not ready so didn't come out with my food. After advising the waitress she took it back to the kitchen and gave us a new patty melt to go. The wait for food was long and did not go at all busy time. Only about 10 customers in the restaurant. While waiting for the to go burger, a roach crawled across our table. I was done at this point and ready to leave. The waitress never apologized for the food. Be advised that signs posted on the walls that electric cigarettes are not allowed. But yet our waitress was walking around, while waitressing, using her vape right in front of us. The staff sat at the bar, young kids, and was gathering playing amongst each other. Not caring that you had customers to serve. I do not recommend this place or will not return. read more

The table was disgusting, we asked to have it cleaned and he used bathroom cleaner and didn't even while thoroughly. We had to get the cleaner to clean the table ourselves and when we asked a server to use to cleaner she said go ahead instead of doing her job and offering to clean it. Everything we tried to order was unavailable and when we finally ordered something the celery was missing from the wings and the onions were raw in the patty melt. Visited 08/18/24 around 4 PM I understand it was extremely hot weather that day, but walking into the restaurant it felt like a burning oven, As we Seated ourselves, it took about 15+ minutes for our server to take our drink orders, and even after that he was making us feel a little bit rushed, The first thing told us to please excuse the heat because the AC has been broken the entire morning and it's been hot all day. I spoke to my family and asked if they were OK staying since we are already there and they agreed that we will stay and try to make it enjoyable. He took our drink orders and we got our waters and two margaritas within 10 minutes or so. He took our drink order so fast that we weren't even able to order an appetizer. When he returned to the table, he wanted to let us know that we were not able to order hamburgers because they had ran out of hamburger buns, Also, we placed an order for potstickers, and he came back to tell us that they ran out of potstickers as well, I said OK let's order some wings and guess what he took 10+ minutes to come back and tell me that they're out of wings also!! Crazy right. At this point, I said you don't even bother. We're just gonna visit another restaurant and we would like To not pay for our drinks, He called the manager Clay who came to the table Who insisted that we pay for our drinks and the appetizers and right at that moment they brought out fresh potstickers even though the server said they were out and then he looks me straight in the eye and says well there you go here they are. Your food is out (appetizers) so you have to pay for them I said, but what's the point we can't order any burgers we can't order any wings it was a whole purpose of our visit and then he said well. The hamburger buns are on their way because we had to go buy them somewhere else and, he insisted that we pay for the items even though we had not touched anything everything was still on the table , He said I could bring over the owner if you like I said yeah great the owner his name was Hank. Hank came to our table, made us feel like we were at fault like it was our fault that he ran out of buns. It was our fault that he didn't have any wings. It was our fault that the AC was out and he insisted to tell us that the AC was not out even though we brought the server back to our table and said did you not tell us the AC was out since this morning and Hank said no no that's a lie. We've never had the AC out. It's just really hot outside. That's why it's super hot in here, making us feel really stupid , and then he said well you're not gonna leave until you pay for your drinks and food at least pay for your appetizers and I'll comp the drinks. I said why we haven't even touch them here they are. We're not happy with the experience. We're not happy with the service we would like to go somewhere else and he insisted that we were gonna pay finally I spoke to my wife and my wife said give them the credit card so we can pay so we can get out of here and then he said no it's OK. Y'all could just go extremely rude extremely unprofessional as a business owner and just made our entire experience feel like crap. , We drove five hours away because our daughter started school in San Marcos and the whole experience was terrible and I could just imagine why the server clay and the manager Jack had attitudes like that because they get it from the owner Hank directly and it's such a shame that we had to walk out. I pray you learn to be patient and I pray you teach your staff how important customer service is. read more

This is a college bar/restaurant and is exactly what you'd expect. The food was OK, the drinks were OK. Our server was really good and got this review an extra star. He was fast and came back plenty of times but not too much. They have a lot of frozen drink options just beware of massive ! I don't think we'll be back. I can't comment on the food because I never got it. Sat down for lunch and had to wait 10 minutes to order because they literally ran out of cups and would not serve us without first giving us water. The restaurant itself was extremely warm - low 80s at least in there When they finally took our order, the waitress was very friendly and apologetic. But after ordering it took 50 minutes for the food to arrive. When the food did arrive I noticed right away mine was wrong. I was certainly annoyed and let it show, but simply said that after that much time I'd think they'd get it right. The guy delivering the food said as he was taking it back that they can refuse service to anyone. At that point I had enough and left. On the way out I asked for the manager - none was on duty. As I did, the guy came to the front and wanted to argue with me, accusing me of cussing. I did not, of course - I don't cuss. Regardless I still left, not wanting him handling my food. The band was very good by the way. But not enough to lure me back. I've worked in food service much of my life and never seen such poor service and lack of professionalism. We were visiting our two daughters who attend TXST. We had planned to eat at another restaurant, but the wait was very long. So, we walked right into crafthouse. There was a reason there was no wait. First off, our waitress was wonderful. She was attentive and sweet. The food was TERRIBLE. We ordered a fried chicken sandwich, a couple burgers, a breakfast burrito, and brisket hash. I give it one star for ambiance. Wasn't remotely busy. Food didn't arrive for 40 minutes. Server gave us one excuse and manager gave us another excuse. When food arrived it was so salty we couldn't eat it. Manager was behind the bar watching TV. All servers were sitting at the bar on their phones. When people were coming in they couldn't find a clean table despite many open tables all were dirty. They didn't charge us for the food and we're apologetic but new management is definitely needed. This is the second chance we were giving them by unfortunately not much has changed. I'd be interested in talking to the owners about their books because they HAVE to be losing money. Yikes. Crafthouse is always crowded, but I was disappointed by my visit. I imagine the crowd is always here because they want to watch sports on the TV while they are drinking Crafthouse's meh beer. The service was not attentive, and the food sucked. I had the nachos while my boyfriend had some beer. The nachos were incredibly disappointing. It looked good, but it was practically doused in sauce. The meat was tasteless, the sauces were tasteless, and they all just combined in my mouth to make a salty mess. The beer wasn't good either when I took a sip. I don't recommend this place unless you're just out to eat bad food and beer while oogling the college aged waitresses working at Crafthouse. If you want good food and good drink, then please go visit the Root Cellar right across the street. The Root Cellar is great at everything that the Crafthouse fails at. read more

I had a work lunch with my team here this week, and really enjoyed the vibe of this place. It's your typical bar/kitchen in a college town. The food was decent-nothing to rave about, and the drinks were good. I enjoyed a Moscow Mule and it was tasty, not watered down. Our server was awesome, and was very attentive to our party of 9. I prefer to give them 2.5 stars. I get that this is a college town but wow the service was sooooooooo slow. We had a table reserved for a party of 8 and the table was still dirty when they sat us. The server cleaned it off in sections even after I requested he finish cleaning it off. He had us sit with dirty cups and plates for a good while. This place host live music and if you are sitting anywhere near the stage forget about having a conversation with the people at your table. The sound system is so loud especially for the size of this restaurant. Despite my urge to leave I couldn't because I was celebrating my niece's birthday so as a good, loving aunt I stayed. I ordered the craft classic which is a burger. They have the option to substitute the patty for a vegan patty so I did that. I was also able to get cheddar cheese instead of American cheese. They don't have cheddar slices but they were able to give me shredded cheddar. The burger comes with a sesame seed bun, but they also offer gluten-free buns. The vegan patty was good, they cooked it just right. Overall it was a regular burger lettuce, onion, cheese, and pickles. I got a side of fries and they are the thick cut slices. Okay, they get a B+ for food but a C- for speed of service. I understand that in a college town when all the college kids are away there are going to be fewer waitstaff to cover the floor. It still could have been less slow. We went here because I was hungry for a burger and the place up the block had abbreviated holiday hours. I asked for samples of two of the beers on tap. They did eventually arrive, but the request had to go through two people and I think that one of the sample glasses was incorrect (I asked for a sample of the pecan porter and the milk stout, and the second sample I got was *not* a milk stout). That said, the pecan porter I ordered was delicious. For food, I opted for the burger whose name I forget (and which isn't on the older iteration of the menu that's online), but which had brie, sliced apple, spinach, and tomato. The burger was good, but they could have put the cheese onto the patty for about a minute while it was on the grill so that it had a chance to properly melt. As it was, I don't quite think the brie and apple slices meshed as well as they could have. Still, the ingredients were quality. Quick summation: B+ food, C service, but still worth the visit. read more

3.5 overall. Service was friendly but slow at 7.30pm on a Wednesday; our food was good. The prices were not outrageous, but I can get similarly priced stuff with better service elsewhere. That said, they had a longer wine/martini list than many other spots and Mr R seemed really happy to have so many beers to choose from. He actually got to sample two before deciding on a pecan porter (I think; beer's not my area). They were out of mojito mix (?) so I quickly chose grapefruitini; looked shocking on arrival but when I discovered the rim was pop rocks I could only laugh and enjoy it. I got the jalapeño bacon deviled eggs as a starter for just $6, and we didn't leave anything on the plate but condensation. I like the fries weren't oversalted, and it was a generous portion of them in that little cup. Nice array of burger choices (I really miss Red Robin in that regard). As if an egg on top weren't enough, my Sunny Side Up burger also held asparagus. Asparagus can be problematic, but these beautiful fat stalks were well trimmed and cooked perfectly. The full dressed burger was structurally difficult and a little messy but 1. that's true of anything holding an over easy egg and 2. it was freaking delicious. There's music to keep you from burning out on one genre--the pattern seemed to be country, classic rock, acoustic cover of metal, repeat--but it can be a bit loud. Liked the porch seating. I was hungry to start, but couldn't finish my burger and even Mr R uncharacteristically left some fries. About $45 before tip for a starter, 2 entrees and 2 drinks from the bar. Been here a few times, only to use up our gift card (which I gave away the balance to a young couple when we left.) Always end up with the kids meal chicken tenders because it's all tacos and burgers, nothing at all healthy except the salad bar. My husband said his tacos were ok..Hawaiian type. Ordered a drink and they didn't have it so I ordered another off their drink menu...Nope, don't make those anymore either. Time to change your menu. Our waiter sat with his buddies' table and talked most of our visit. Came at a slow time, a hot Saturday afternoon. Ya think he'd be knockin himself out over us...nope! A college hang out maybe. Went here for dinner, and the food was quite unpleasant. Ordered cheese and bbq sauce fry app and they were so hot that they practically fused with the paper on the tray. Also ordered the pulled pork tacos and the mac and pulled pork sandwich. Pulled pork must've been a fews day old, with zero flavor and left the feeling it was warmed in a microwave. Will say fries and beers were decent, but it's hard to mess that up. It felt like the AC was turned off and had to waive down our waitress anytime we needed anything. It was 5 pm on a Wednesday and only one other dinner party. Won't be returning. Nothing more than a college bar, don't come expecting much else. read more
