We really enjoyed our lunch here today! It was fun and it was an experience! The food was really yummy and soulful! Service was excellent! You have to walk through the store to get to the restaurant and there was lots of cool stuff there! Never been to a Cracker Barrel before! We liked the old sign for sure, confused why they changed it, the new one is soooo plain! We will be back!

Home cooking at its best. Just off i-75 in Venice FL. The front of the restaurant has an immediate southern feel with a wooden patio and rocking chairs. They have a cool store with a ton of everything as soon as you enter the main doors. Clothing, root beer, candy, and household items too. Past the store we enter the packed restaurant with a southern vibe boasting a massive fireplace and multiple tables. We ordered a simple eggs, bacon potatoes with their signature buttermilk biscuits and thick gravy for dipping. While waiting each table has a fun peg game to play. The meal was served in about ten minutes and was delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and the bathroom was very clean.

Good ole faithful while on the road! It's been ages since I've been to a Cracker Barrel and things haven't changed. Same decor and huge portions. This location in Venice has always been clean and friendly and that is still the case.

Went for lunch and it was busy that day. There were lot of people and we got our food after a while. They have various kinds of food and it was hard to choose because everything looked good. I got the Turkey and it was good. My friends got grilled chicken and I tried them, it was also good. I also recommend their peach tea. they have a little shop to shop around after. My first time and it was good. The price is right as well. Definitely will come back.

Visited the Venice location off of Jacaranda Blvd. Ordered the Grandma's Breakfast with Bacon - Eggs or easy - and the Hash Brown Casserole . The food was good but for some reason took a bit to come out considering the number of patrons was small (Here after 12noon). Coffee also seems a bit watery but Ok. I believe the location of the Cracker Barrel makes the difference. Still one of my favorite breakfast places but the northern locations off SR 64 and Cortez Rd seem better.

I was seated facing a wall so I didn't get a good long look at my surroundings but between what I did see and looking at photos posted on Yelp the theme seems to be chickens. Our server was friendly and available to answer any questions as we spent time looking over the menu. I settled on The Hitman, a double patty smashed burger with American cheese, hen sauce, fried mozzarella, Nueske's bacon, with a side of garlic parm fries. It isn't listed on the online menu but there is a note the menu changes frequently so it may not match the day's offering. Let me start by saying that two of the people at my table got salads and were disappointed that there was too much lettuce and too little other stuff. With that out of the way, let me talk about The Hitman, which I loved. What is Nueske bacon? This is a special smoked flavorful bacon made by the Nueske family. Fork & Hen uses thick cut, and there were two slices on my burger. My burger towered so high there was no hope of picking it up, so I attacked it with knife and fork. Being made with Focaccia bread certainly added to the height, but so did a thick block of mozzzrella cheese. The cheese, melted on the inside and crispy on the outside, was substantial. I would be careful biting into a hot block of melted cheese, think pizza mouth. In my photo I broke into one corner to show that is cheese, so much cheese. The burger patty part topped with American cheese was by itself great, like you might find at a home cookout or Smashburgers. Other toppings were there but for me this was meat and a lot of cheese. And as much bread as you want. I loved my surprising good cheeseburger.

Real Texas BBQ in southwest Florida - Finding great bbq in Florida can sometimes be a daunting…read moretask, I've eaten lots of bbq and consider myself somewhat of an bbq aficionado having enjoyed bbq across this great country, every region has their own unique and different styles so believe me when I say all bbq is not created equal. Texas bbq has always been at the top of my list after traveling and working in Texas for decades and experiencing what I think is some of the best on the planet. I admit my expectations were pretty high long before I walked through the door here - just from the exterior and interior ambiance I immediately knew these people are serious bbq people and some of the friendliest you'll ever meet. In my opinion eating bbq should be an experience yes the meat preparations are of the utmost most importances but the sides, and desserts also have to be on point as well and of course fresh brewed tea. I wanted to try it all which is not reasonable so I read the menu, scanned the daily specials board(s) and also considered the recommendations by our wonderful server. We enjoyed some great sandwiches and sides and couldn't of had a better lunch during our drive through southwest Florida. Chopped Brisket Sandwich - the bun was fresh and toasted perfectly so it held up to the sauce that I drenched on the beautifully smoked meat, the lean to fat ratio was absolutely perfect and the smoked flavors came through making this one of the best bbq sandwiches I've eaten in a very long time. Pulled Pork Sandwich - the perfectly smoked pork was piled high and very lean, this is a big and delicious work of art. We ordered the sauce on the side so we could control the portion and it worked out great. Pinto Beans - these beans are cooked down until they melted into the smooth and creamy broth that was filled with onions and jalapeño peppers - these are a must try especially if you top them with some fresh raw onion and a few dashes of the Tabasco Pepper Vinegar table side the only thing I regret is that I didn't get a quart of these to take back to the campground. Fried Okra - Crispy deliciousness a southern delicacy served with ranch dressing, this combination is never a disappointment when done right and they do the okra right here. It was nice to get pickles and raw onions on the side, in my opinion if a bbq joint misses this step they don't understand what a bbq experience should be. We really enjoyed our meals here and appreciated the hospitality from the staff, great food, great service all at a reasonable price is always a winning combination, this is definitely a place I hope to return to soon...

The mashed potatoes and gravy were also just what I was looking for. The other side I chose was corn fritters - just ok but perfectly fine, although more batter to corn ratio would have made them more desirable. Hubby had the chicken fried chicken and he loved it and his sides of potatoes and mac n cheese. Our family had fried chicken and they thought it was crispy outside, fried well and juicy inside. They also ordered a grilled ham and cheese with a side salad. Didn't get a ton of feedback on the meal but the plate was pretty well cleaned off when we got up! Our waitress was fast, efficient and really sweet. She quickly brought to go containers for our food and drinks. The ambiance of the restaurant gave it a very homey and rural feel, which was just fine with us. It sits nexts to the state farmers market which was not running during our visit. However it was still busy when we sat down to eat at 2 pm. Recommend it!

The staff is extremely attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was wonderful, I have eaten a lot of food this year but when I say the cornmeal crusted Gulf Oysters appetizer was in the top 5 of best things I have eaten this year I mean it! The perfect balance of salty and umami with grated cheese, sweet peppers on top of a crunchy base sprinkled with capers. My dinner mate and I literally could not stop audibly Mmm'ing as we ate it. The potato salad was delicious and a great accompaniment. I thoroughly enjoyed their happy hour selection as well which allowed us to try their muffuletta sandwich along with their boudin balls, two offerings we have never had before, without committing to the full size. Both were delicious and the bun on the mini Mufuletta was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside in all of the best ways (I would not be upset if they just served these buns as a side). Overall, Lucky 8 made me feel pretty Lucky to try their food. This is an awesome lunch/dinner spot in Sarasota and you definitely have to give it a try. Combined with jasmine rice and red beans was more like a chicken thigh jambalaya. A little spicy but not hot enough to stop eating. A cold beer to wash it down is perfect. Perfect place to watch a football game on a Sunday but a little small overall. I would return if I lived in this area year round.
