I absolutely hate leaving a review like this. I've used Cracker Barrel for comfort dining and brunch get-together catering for quite a while now. In fact, almost every Sunday, a group of about 40 friends gets together, and I usually order two platters of loaded hash brown casserole. It's pretty straightforward--convenient, filling, and consistently good. This past weekend, I did the same. I picked up the order, got to our destination, and opened it, only to find it was just standard hash brown casserole. No big deal. I sent a message to Cracker Barrel, made it clear that I understood mistakes happen, and simply wanted to make them aware. I wasn't asking for anything. What was surprising, though, was the response. I received an email that didn't include an apology or acknowledgment--again, not a huge deal--but it did include a $6 dessert coupon. Honestly, I found that more insulting than just a simple "thank you" and moving on. As someone who manages a complex work environment, I know you can't fix what you don't know about. That's why I shared the issue--it wasn't about compensation. It also wouldn't have been hard for them to see my consistent order history, since I use the rewards app regularly. While I wouldn't say this permanently damages my desire to continue using them, it certainly does lessen it. read more

An absolute hot mess of a location. Ordered a primerib holiday meal to be picked up by 11am. It's been an hour and my order still isn't ready. There is a whole room of people waiting for their order. They are extreme disorganized and have no idea how absolutely terrible this is. People are missing work appointments due to their lack of organization. This place is terrible. I have to admit I was a little leery of 2.5 stars, but I generally check the bad reviews as well as the good ones. I find that many people who write reviews and have an majority of one stars are not worth worrying about. Seems these people can never be pleased. So based on that my cousin and I met here for dinner. We are both on the carnivore diet so ordering can sometimes be difficult. I got the NY strip and two eggs over easy. The eggs were done perfect and the steak was a perfect medium rare. I didn't get any sides, but I did order just a soda water with lemon, because I don't drink regular soda with sugar and caffeine. My cousin got the trout and splurged on some steamed broccoli. Both of our meals were delicious. Our waitress Aylan was an absolute rock star. She was very attentive and didn't mind us sitting a little longer to visit. I'm glad we went. We did find several options that we can enjoy on our specialize diet and we will be going back there. read more

My husband and I visited after church and had a nice time. The food was great and the portions were very large. The service was friendly. Barbie was a great help in finding the game I was looking to buy and setting me up with a free appetizer with their rewards program. My wife and I visited this morning expecting their normal great food. That didn't happen. Biscuits were hard as rocks! My wife's bacon came out raw. The best thing I can say is that our waitress was excellent. She said to call her "Z". Best service I have had in ages! I asked to talk to the manager but he was too busy to talk to a customer. I went to the register and told the cashier but she didn't care! If you go in ask for Z. Ask for fresh biscuits!! Ask for the bacon to at least cooked. We had a party of 7 on Christmas Eve Eve. The waitress was excellent. Never an empty glass. Our individual orders went from breakfast to dinner, therefore the order was a little late. Can't remember last time we went there and after this morning it all came rushing back on why we hadn't been back. Food was horrific. Ordered the farmhouse breakfast. I asked if they had anything smaller than a 3 egg omelette - nope. Okay still ordered. When it came it was not an omelette. It was scrambled eggs with everything on top. Bacon was raw. I'm not saying it was undercooked. It was raw as in the fat was white. Ham was great but it had been honeyed. So now my eggs were sweet - oh yum nothing like sweet scrambled eggs instead of an omelette. I did eat the tomato slices however. Told the waitress. Told the cashier. My first time ever in a Cracker Barrel so other than being told they have the best pancakes ever, I didn't know what to expect. I was greeted by two hostess who were warm and eager to assist, but then waited about 10 minutes before my waiter attended to me. I was annoyed, but still eager to absolutely destroy some pancakes (I came hungry). Luckily, they offer complementary cornbread and biscuits. I ordered the Momma's Pancakes Breakfast with egg whites and spicy chicken sausage links. I upgraded one of my pancakes to the blueberry because why not. Maybe my expectations were too high because the buttermilk pancakes were just okay. It was really the maple syrup that saved the day with that one. The blueberry on the other-hand was dance in your seat worthy! It came with a special blueberry syrup that was delicious. I'd go back for that alone... and also try some other menu items because they offer so much more. read more

The store was really cute and the young man at the host counter was great. Unfortunately they were out of 3 different things we ordered. The first one was DYI hot chocolate. It was a featured item on the menu pointed out to us as we were seated. It came with chocolate chips, sprinkles and a peppermint stick. The guy offered that we could order it but it wouldn't come with any of that lol. Was especially funny because they had peppermint sticks in the mercantile and chocolate chips in some of the pancakes. The good parts were that the food was reasonably priced and most of it was pretty good. Fries, meatloaf, chicken tenders, brown gravy, kids sliders all good. I did hear my waiter make a racist remark about Asians which I found offensive. read more

Food has always been pretty good! Can't go wrong with their breakfast. Lunch and dinners are usually good. Service is sometimes not always great.. could be an understaffing issue. Store is always fun to look through. Lots of cool stuff and it's usually changed out pretty often. It's great to browse as you're waiting to be seated or waiting for your food. We have been to this Cracker Barrel several times...this time, it was the best as far as food and Service in concerned. We went rather early so we did not have any issues with crowds. The food was great...the service from our server was top notch...she was attentive, amiable and served us promptly. I have chicken & dumplings...by far, the best I have ever had! Cracker Barrel is the new kid on the block near Kohl's in Rockwall. I've been waiting for this spot to open. It's not as big as the Mesquite, TX location. Yet it is closer to where I live. I absolutely love the ambience here. The store and country style restaurant always make me feel like I'm in a modern western. The food is not the BEST but the service is great. The serving sizes are nice portions. The quality of the food is good but be prepared to season with salt and pepper in most cases when your order arrives. We have been disappointed with Cracker Barrel lately, so this one was a pleasant surprise. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. He brought out biscuits before the meal--just the way we like them. Front porch full of country rocking chairs for sale, and other home items. Store is packed full of country home decor, rustic items, clothing for infants, tots, kids, teens, more female than male. Went here and got a bigger breakfast for myself today and the service was great, as I finished up my food and went to pay, the bill was 27-ish dollars, and I hadn't realized my card wasn't activated so I used one of my other cards to pay but the other card was $5 short so as I was standing there trying to activate my main card, Calvin who I believe is a server payed the difference out of his own pocket. Thank you, Cracker Barrel! My wife and I decided to take this year off from hosting the family so we tried a couple of the individual turkey meals. They were great! And the pumpkin pie they have there is really good! The pick up went off nearly without a hitch. The only hiccup was that I was notified my meal was being worked on 2 hrs before my scheduled pick up time but I went down anyway. I had to wait a bit until they figured it out but it was all good. The young lady that brought it out was very sweet and braved the rain for us. My wife and I had a great little quiet Thanksgiving here at home -alone- with very little cleanup or leftovers to fight over! Thank you Cracker Barrel! We really enjoyed our dinners. read more

I wouldn't suggest going here if you're in an interracial relationship. I'm white, have white twin 12-year-old boys, and my husband is Mexican, and we have a baby. I put myself on the waitlist online. When my family and I were about to sit down to be seated, the host looked at something she was holding and forcefully said, "Are you Eden?" I said yes, and she said, "Oh. Because it says 4 and there's 5 of you." I said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know I needed to count the baby." nicely. She said, "if it breathes you need to include them" and walked away. When the waitress took our drink order, I pointed at the baby and said, "I'll get chocolate milk for her". She got my two sons drinks and walked away. My husband said, "ma'am?" and he asked if he could order a drink and she said, "Oh. I thought you (me) said he wanted chocolate milk". There is no way. I literally pointed at the baby and asked my husband if she should have hot chocolate since it was cold outside, or chocolate milk. She knew. ...how? But ok whatever. It took so long to get our drinks that the manager came by and asked if anyone had come to help us. When I got my coffee, I was never offered cream. I asked if we could get rolls. She said our food didn't come with them, but she could enter it into her system, but it wouldn't be a charge. It just seemed more complicated than it needed to be. When my husband ordered his food, the waitress told him his side would be an up-charge. When I ordered mine, she didn't mention that my pancakes were an up-charge. When we got our breakfast, my eggs were cold, and everything else on everyone's plate was barely warm. 3 people at the table ordered pancakes but the waitress didn't bring any syrup. I had to ask for some. We let the waitress know the food was cold, not being rude or anything, and she said she'd have the manager ring it up. The food came out SO quick. There was a huge difference, it was actually hot. The manager came by, I summarized what happened, and let her know that it was just obvious with both ladies that they were trying to be shi**y. We got our check, and I'll be honest, as a manager I would've comped the drinks. But whatever. I felt super uncomfortable and broke out in a cold sweat because I felt so awkward the entire time. Our visit started with a declared 20 minute wait time. This seemed reasonable so we waited outside. There is plenty of room on the porch area to social distance. After 35 minutes we were seated. The spacing of closed off tables is very good for the 6ft apart restrictions. After we finally ordered our food came out after a long delay. Our cups were not refilled, eggs came out cold. We experienced delays in every aspect of our visit. I was disappointed that 2/3rds of the staff were wearing their masks under their noses. A member of management wasn't even wearing one at all. The fried apples were good and the hash brown casserole was delightful. The cornbread was very dry and the butter was cold so it wouldn't spread on the corn bread or biscuits.
