    Complementary Cornbread and Biscuits
    Renee I.

My first time ever in a Cracker Barrel so other than being told they have the best pancakes ever, I didn't know what to expect. I was greeted by two hostess who were warm and eager to assist, but then waited about 10 minutes before my waiter attended to me. I was annoyed, but still eager to absolutely destroy some pancakes (I came hungry). Luckily, they offer complementary cornbread and biscuits. I ordered the Momma's Pancakes Breakfast with egg whites and spicy chicken sausage links. I upgraded one of my pancakes to the blueberry because why not. Maybe my expectations were too high because the buttermilk pancakes were just okay. It was really the maple syrup that saved the day with that one. The blueberry on the other-hand was dance in your seat worthy! It came with a special blueberry syrup that was delicious. I'd go back for that alone... and also try some other menu items because they offer so much more.

Cracker Barrel is the new kid on the block near Kohl's in Rockwall. I've been waiting for this spot to open. It's not as big as the Mesquite, TX location. Yet it is closer to where I live. I absolutely love the ambience here. The store and country style restaurant always make me feel like I'm in a modern western. The food is not the BEST but the service is great. The serving sizes are nice portions. The quality of the food is good but be prepared to season with salt and pepper in most cases when your order arrives. I've included some menus for viewers to take a look at the breakfast selections. I haven't tried them for lunch or dinner. For your pleasure are some shots of my breakfast plates. The prices are super reasonable.

June 16th 2023 * cockroach by front door entryway :(

Walked in to get a Coca Cola cake to go on 8:41pm june 16th, 2023. Saw a cockroach eighth by the door entrance :( guess I'll get it from a different location. I'm so sad.

Worst food ever Bacon and toast burnt to a crisp. No butter on toast. Fancy pancake syrup has no taste. Service was 5 of 10. Butter for pancakes rock hard. $30 for 2 people for nothing. On my way to McDonalds for better food and service.

Southern style casual fashion, fun in the sun

Super friendly welcome from the wait staff and it turned out the owner was working too. Great conversation. Started with the armadillo eggs which are deep fried Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese and served with ranch. These things are a weakness of mine and I ate the entire order. Next had a two meat platter with brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage. Sides were fried okra and broccoli. They have their fried food game down. Okra was hot and crispy and well seasoned. Delicious. The broccoli tasted like homemade steamed broccoli and was the exact texture I like. My brisket was super tender and tasty and the sausage was satisfying. I used the spicy sauce which gave everything a kick. Finished with the banana pudding with nilla wafers. Stuffed! Delicious meal and so friendly - I'll be back maybe for when they have live music on a weekend.

My only issue with this place is the miniature sides provided. What most places might use for serving some gravy or other sauce. They use for your sides. But other than that, their smash burger is awesome. Catfish is some of the best around & their BBQ is good too.

Six boudin balls and banana pudding. Starting with the dish that was the least appetizing, the garlic toast/ bread had no garlic spell or taste just butter taste. 2nd least favorite is the expensive banana pudding . I have had much better banana pudding with no bananas from another restaurant. I would have rather had more than 5 mini vanilla wafers instead of the cool whip topping . $7.99 for that never again . The French Quarter dish was dropped off it was received warm from the doordash dasher . Everything was seasoned well , the shrimp etoufee is a tad bit spicy but it isn't overwhelming. I wish they provided at least two catfish fillets instead of just one . . I didn't want any hushpuppies but there is no choice to decline them. Boudin balls are good. I am from Louisiana been living in Dallas-Fort Worth over 24 years now . I enjoy well cooked cajun meals . Portions large enough for leftovers

Came for breakfast for the first time today and life CHANGED…read more If you've ever been confused by the question of what you'd pick as your last meal, look no further than the sourdough breakfast panini. The amount of flavor in that sandwich from the perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, to the shredded Gouda, grilled sourdough bread, tomatoes slices, and arugula will blow. Your. Mind. And once it's blown, you'll then get to pop one of the maple waffle fries that come with it in your mouth (and completely remind me of funnel cake!) and you will feel like life is complete, you have no regrets, and if it all ended today you would be able to die a happy human. Finding flavor like this (which I've only found in a few local spots like Zanatas or Fable and Fire in Rockwall) is an absolute diamond in the rough find for Fate! And after meeting the chef, Michael Shelley (who worked previously at a five star restaurant in Cali and has quite the illustrious history - go look him up!), you'll understand why flavors that you'd only expect to find down in Dallas are blowing your mind sitting at Red Dirt Social in Fate. (He also shared with us that the panini is a special recipe he created while working as a a private chef for a family and they would order it just about every other day. Trust me, I now know completely why.) My partner got the breakfast tacos and they were a totally different and just as delicious flavor palette. Packed with eggs, potatoes, bacon, veggies, and pepper jack cheese. The portions are HUGE. Where else can you find this much flavor in this much food?! I love the great seating options and the lowkey setup of picking your own table, ordering at the front when you're ready, and having it brought out to your table. Only complaint was on my partner's double chai latte where the beans were painfully over roasted and the smoky flavor overpowered the chai entirely, but some extra barista lessons needed aside, we're IN. This will for sure be our new breakfast spot (let's get honest, there aren't that many truly unique and good ones out this way if you want more than your typical diner style eggs, bacon, and pancakes) and we'll be bringing friends from out of town here as well! What a gem!

We sat down at our table at Red Dirt Social to visit for 10 minutes - and the manager (or owner maybe?) commented how his space was built just for this reason - to relax and enjoy time. We never felt rushed, or felt like they wanted our table. That was refreshing! The space is lovely - truly! It was bright, open, minimal decor and it all worked beautifully together. Someone out real thought into decorating this space for people to gather and relax, and it showed. I ordered the pats (oatmeal) with fresh fruit and it was perfect! All the fruit blended well together for my oatmeal. I enjoyed every bite. I cannot wait to bring my husband back to see how much Fate has grown and to eat here once more. It's worth it!
