We've visited this location several times over the past 2 decades of living in this area, but something is definitely going downhill there. Our last three visits over which have been since early December included one dinner and two times for a very late breakfast/early lunch. The service has always been great, but the food was lousy and not consistent. I always get fried okra when I go there because very few places have it and no one else in my family eats it. Each time we went I ordered it and each time it got worse. I'm beginning to think the've changed their supplier or the oil they're using to fry it is not changed often enough. I ordered the chicken and dumplings on two of my visits and both times it was bad. One time there was way too much chicken that it seemed like I had gotten the tenderloin dinner since there were no dumplings just a little bit of white gray and chicken maybe two dumplings total. The next time I ordered it, the meal had very little chicken and the dumplings were undercooked and doughy but the worst part was the broth was like a huge pool of water. It didn't even taste like chicken broth. My dad got sausage patties with his breakfast entree and he said they were very overcooked and chewy. He also said they had a weird greasy taste so I definitely think the fryer oil is bad or needs cleaning. My spouse ordered mashed potatoes with his chicken fried steak and they were ice cold and the had white peppered country gravy on them instead of a typical beef or turkey gravy. He asked for new potatoes but we were told the only gravy they have now is the white gravy. The didn't even offer to reheat the potatoes after he said he didn't want white gravy on his potatoes. The waitress said people have been pretty disappointed with the place since corporate changed up the entire menu. The got rid of lots of items and added some rather odd things. I don't think we will be back until we start hearing better news from others about their experiences. For now, I'll just go into the country store for merchandise as they do have nice gifts there, but no food for this family. read more

We stopped in for breakfast and the service was good -- friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the hype. My husband ordered the country fried steak, I had the French toast meal, and our daughter had the kids' pancake plate. All of us felt the food was just okay at best. I've always heard people rave about Cracker Barrel, so my expectations were a lot higher than what we experienced. My husband and I frequent Cracker Barrel, especially for the catfish. The portions are smaller than a few years ago, however the flavor is the same. I really liked the pot pie which is discontinued, maybe they will return it. We will go for the breakfast which has never disappointed us. The desserts are delicious as well, I like to try the pie specials, yummy. The food always comes out piping hot which my husband loves. We have always had good service. Our server Sophia was excellent! She was friendly and quick to answer our requests. I had the egg sandwich with grits and an extra side of fruit which turned out to be a bowl of sliced strawberries. My family and I decided to stop in for brunch. We were able to get seated fast but it took at least 30 mins to receive our food. The quality was decent but I was disappointed how much the portion sizes had decreased. The best side was the cheesy hash brown casserole. YIKES! The Cracker Barrel I used to love is no longer! Lately this place has been in a decline but I kept giving it a chance. This past visit has finally turned me off from this franchise entirely. We came for breakfast, I noticed on the menu they now have popular dishes that have a pictures of a timer next to them indicating to order them if you are in a rush. I'm assuming they say that because they are pre making the dish and then it's a grab and go situation because our food came within 5-10 minutes but it was all cold...the butter on the pancakes didn't melt a single bit. While on the topic of the pancakes, they used to be so large that they would overflow on the plate, this time even with 3 they barely covered 3/4 of the center of the plate. Cracker Barrel used to be the place to go for healthy portions of food at a decent price, now the portions are much smaller, the prices are higher, and the quality isn't there. read more

A rainy, late afternoon Tuesday would seem to be an ideal time to catch a supper meal at Cracker Barrel, which is often packed at peak periods. The strategy should have been sound. However, with perhaps a total of six couples dining at the time and multiple available servers, we never saw our server between when our food was delivered and she returned to ask if we were ready for the bill. We actually never saw her in the restaurant in that time. That meant any needs--such as drink refills--went unmet. (In a subsequent visit within two weeks to use a gift card a different server was much more engaged. That visit would have earned four stars.) Unless you've lived a secluded life you know Cracker Barrel offers a variety of southern comfort foods. Entree items are usually breaded and deep fried. They didn't have a hostess to seat us. We we were told by the cashier that a server would be seating us. That was a wait. Our server came pretty fast back to our table and did a great job the whole time. He was running his buns off. I think he had the whole room. It did take some time to get out food. The food did not taste as good as it has in the past. Biscuit was so dry and cold the husband wouldn't eat it. Food just didn't have the yum factor as it used to. My coffee refill, when she finally came around to fill it, was so weak, and when I said something, it was "it was just brewed". Just because it was "just brewed" doesn't mean it wasn't weak. Our experience became a comedy amongst some of the patrons at neighboring tables, all waiting to see how bad it could get. Our order was taken early on... about ten minutes after being seated. But then we waited. And waited. The famous tea was strong and off.... But no food. Then we noticed others also looking tired with no food. Our appetizer was nowhere to be seen. The meal arrived nearly an hour after the order. But we noticed something else. Meals arriving without tableware, sitting with warm food getting colder while the utensils remained hidden away somewhere in the back. But this wasn't just our experience. I saw this at three other tables, and it wasn't just our server but the one for the next table over. I told the staffer to cancel our appetizer, and she then came back five minutes later with an excuse as to what happened... accepting blame on herself. Admirable, except the whole situation was clearly a bomb. The busboy was clearing a nearby table, and his lack of enthusiasm was enough to bring me down. One of the wait staff was handling bussing his own table to ring in another sale when new patrons arrived, but his cleaning ability was below standards. The bill arrives and the price was $10.49. I complained to the Manager and he pointed out the small print that said "starting at." Several items were listed on the card, but not individual prices. Stopped in here Saturday for a quick bite. Hubby loves that you can get breakfast anytime here, I prefer lunch. There was some confusion on our seating. We were first told it would be a 15 min wait, then as soon as we walked away from the podium they called my name. When the Host was taking us to the table, the table was not available and he didn't know what to do. He was able to seat at a table after some problem solving with another team member. Okay so this is the third time we've been to Cracker Barrel since we moved to the area. First time, food was decent. Service sucked, even though the waitress only had one other table in her 6 table section. (I used to waitress at Cracker Barrel in Kansas City so I am somewhat familiar with the way the sections are split up) Looked past that, as it's not Cracker Barrel's fault. Second time we went there when my in laws were visiting. My mother in laws cup had grease in it so her water looked and tasted absolutely disgusting and the waitress couldn't even bring us a new one. Coffee had "floaters" in it. Again, we didn't receive any fresh coffee. All of our food was cold like it had been sitting out while she was talking to her friend over where the menus and orders are rung in. The cheese on my breakfast sandwich was old and hard. Basically she dropped our food off with attitude and when it came time to pay the bill she started acting nicey nice again. Decided to tell the manager. She did remove the coffee and one of our meals (mine) so we thanked her and she apologized. No worries after that. Today, my husband decided to go get a takeout order for our breakfast. He requested that they put no Mayo on it, to which they still did. That's an easy fix! (Or should be) but instead the manager had a terrible attitude and slammed our food down on the counter like we were being a total hassle when asked to remake my sandwich. My husband even offered to pay for another one! No biggie. My husband and I have both worked in food service for years so we understand how it goes. We are always super respectful, understanding and we'll always admit if we are at fault. But the attitude of the employees at this specific location, is not worth dealing with for mediocre food. Very disappointed Last night we prepared and put in order and paid at 630 pm for a 1 pm curbside today. (Mothers Day) Got there at 1pm. Didn't get food until 230. So much chaos and disrespect in between. I was told somehow my order got lost. Had to show my confirmation email from the night before when I paid for the manager to believe me then brought home food that was Thrown together after an 1 1/2 hour later of being there. With COVID and all I give restaurants and staff the benefit of the doubt, but this specific location delivers consistently poor service and finds ways to deliver even lower than expected results. Since January of 2020 (before the March lockdowns) until now, I have placed many to go orders. It is rare for an order for basic items to be correct. How hard is it to put things in a bag from a list? The average 5thgrader has mastered that. This location has hit bottom and begun to dig. Between demanding you use their inaccurate app to sign into a fake waiting list. It is pointless because you will still have the same wait when you get there that the app / computer says you do when you join the waiting list. Signing up does NOT get you next in line to be seated when you arrive as it does at every other restaurant in town. And OH MY do not try and phone from the parking lot to see where your place in line is (how much longer you have to wait after showing up when you are supposed to) because the staff at this store is incapable of figuring that out even when given your name and phone number. IF you do stick around and go in to eat, observe them cleaning your table with the same dirty cloth they have been using to clean other tables for no idea how long but it was long enough they do not usually feel a need to apply liquid cleaner to the table, there is enough on their filthy rag. These comments are in direct contrast to their St. Charles and Fenton locations which are both 5/5 highly recommended for dine in and carry out. CB Corporate needs to come in to this store and clean house with all managers from the GM on down. It is a waste of time and money to expect food that even remotely resembles their advertising and their other locations. To say nothing of the cleaning that just smears germs into the tables that may have otherwise been clean. If you visit this store be prepared to be very disappointed. If I could give it a 0 rating I would and that is about what it deserves. read more

The manager was very busy cleaning tables, seating customers and loading firewood onto the fire. From my observation it was all hands on deck. and I didn't observe any slackers. Some of the worst chicken fried steak I've ever had. No flavor or seasoning, it was greasy, and the green beans were almost mush. I believe the green beans were canned, and I believe the CFS patty was a frozen breaded patty. I will not be back. And, I don't believe the cream gravy was made from scratch. I love the concept of Cracker Barrel restaurant/gift shop...I always find adorable gifts and decors that make me walk out of Cracker Barrel with a big smile on my face, however, I wish I can say the same about our recent dining experience.. I am not difficult when it comes to ordering anything on the menu...I eat everything. But, because I am not a customer with any specific needs, doesn't mean that there are people that don't have them for special reasons. My friend has cancer. We came here on Easter, and she was a bit puzzled why CB menu did not have a simple eggs benedict. I believe that theirs had a fried chicken of some sort inside this egg dish that my friend needed to avoid because of her illness. If she eats foods prepared in a certain way, or eats foods that her stomach cannot handle, she is in pain for the rest of the day, and days after. Her request was that they remove the chicken out of her order so she can eat the rest of the meal, and she did not mind paying the full price for it. The waitress was kind and compassionate, yet a little hesitant because she was not sure if my friends request would be able to be met. We only came here because I requested that we eat at CB because I love this place, and was quite excited to come here on Easter. This is the second time my friend has visited this establishment and has made a simple request, and that time the excuse was the same as the present day...The assistant manager (working the am shift) said that the meals have to be prepared without any changes - "Corporate establishes these rules." HUH??!! Even at a McDonalds and Burger King you can have it your way, so we were all a little puzzled. My friend brought the issue to the Manager, and he openly received my friends request, and had her requests met. Unfortunately, because of the drama, my friend did not eat and was really miffed. The request should have been met since we feel it was a simple one. I do not understand how Cracker Barrel is not able to meet customer's dietary request, especially if they have allergies to certain foods. We ate, and left shortly after. I was not in the mood to spend endlessly in their boutique. ;( Sigh. The food is barely edible after waiting an hour to eat . There is supposed to be a hostess in the front taking your name to wait for a table. She wasn't there when we walked in and we didn't see any sign saying check in here. We went to the back hosta station, and after standing in line for 20 minutes, was then directed to the front. Where we gave our names, and after waiting another 20 minutes, checked with the back hostess, who never received our names on the waitlist. The manager was kind and took care of us. Our waitress was fabulous, but clearly overworked, and in a huge rush to take our order and never bothered to ask us how the food was. Which was completely an edible. Pancakes were hard on one side and cold whatever glob of grease. they stuck on top was not butter because it never even melted. Scrambled eggs were hard and cold and flat like a pancake. Bacon was so greasy it was not edible. The sausage tasted spoiled and the ham was absolutely disgusting. It smelled putrid and had so much salt in it. You could not stomach the taste.
