Okay, let me give this location a real and updated review. I will admit when this location first opened there were a few shaky visits. But having worked in the restaurant business (a Cracker Barrel to be exact), I understand that when a new location opens there are MANY kinks to iron out. There was a HUGE serving turnover. Cracker Barrel is no piece of cake serving job. With that being said, most of the "bad" reviews are from then, when they first opened. Since then, I've been to this location several times and have never had a bad experience. The service is quick and attentive. I order the same breakfast every time and they are very consistent. My bacon is always truly crispy like I request. The biscuits are fresh and no, I don't mind waiting for a fresh batch to come out because those are the best. I've also ordered take out several times and am very specific on what I want, I've never had anything missing or wrong. I think other than good service and consistent food, the thing that stood out to me is how clean this location always is. The floor is clean, the tables are bussed and set up correctly, the bathrooms are spotless. This is rare at any restaurant and is a huge plus in my eyes. If you're local or just passing through on the interstate, the Mayfield Cracker Barrel will not disappoint, and if for some reason they do, the management is top notch and will take care of you!

I have coMe here a lot . Food was awful this time avoid the hash browns and chicken you will thank me. Service was bad and server needed training way to new to be by herself. Best advice is to go to a different cb avoid this one

    Pancake

Tonight we ordered curbside to go because it was late and we were in a hurry to get home. Once we got home, we were extremely disappointed in our meals from Cracker Barrel In Mayfield, KY. I have provided a picture of one of the pancakes, but we ordered two pancake meals with three pancakes each and they were all like the picture. The other two meals has chicken and sides. The chicken was okay, but the hash brown casserole was dried out and the squash casserole tasted terrible. I wouldn't recommend this location.

We had the country fried chicken with mashed potatoes and turnip geeens. The turnip greens were so good and my wife said the chicken was very good. I had the fried pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and okra. All of it was delicious! For dessert we had blueberry lemon cake and coconut cake. Pictures do not to them justice. They were so huge the lid barely closed on the to go box. It was like 1/4 of a cake. We left there stuffed with four to go boxes for two people! Highly recommend!

I've come here because my grandparents from Paris recommended this place as a good 18th birthday dinner spot, and even though they may be just a little crazy, I am so glad I listened to them. The food is outstanding. I tried their Cheesesteak with French Fries, and I didn't even take a picture of it, I was that excited, and it was nothing short of outstanding. You get a lot of it too. If I wasn't a big back I would've had the entire thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the same can be said for their dessert cakes. The staff were excellent as well, they were friendly, and certainly helped making our first visit a welcoming experience, and I earnestly hope they are satisfied with working here. If you are a foodie, a travelling foodie, or just someone who just likes going to establishments in towns you don't even know the name of, I tell you now that you NEED to go to this place. P.S. Forget all the other beverages you can have with your food, GRAB THE TEA. Sweet or unsweet, their tea tastes HEAVENLY.

We had been here over the summer, and stopped by with our daughter to share the experience. Service is always good, and some of the food is great. It seemed like the 1 inch porkchop was not as good as the gigantic one I had last time, but I coykd be crazy. My husband woukd say I was crazy, so there is that. My daughter loved her fish. The mashed potatoes with white gravy were so good, I ate those first. Hubby asked for a garden salad with salmon. He got a spinach salad with salmon. Our server brought it out and offered to have it remade, but the salad looked wonderful and he really enjoyed it. Kudos to the chef for standing his ground haha. We were too full for dessert. Highly recommend, for the experience and the cute period clothing. Get reservations though! We have to wait over an hour on our first visit. We made reservations the 2nd time and we're seated within 10 minutes.

I'm finally having a chance to review our visits to Freight House back in November!…read more My husband and I took a little trip to Paducah, and the main reason we chose this location for our vacation was Sara Bradley's restaurant Freight House. We both are fans of "Top Chef" and since her restaurant is within reasonable distance of home, we planned a trip around it. In fact, we made reservations for two nights in a row, to take in as much of the menu as possible! Between the two different days, we tried a number of appetizers, entrees and desserts. If I were to do this again the same way, I would do one day of apps and dessert and one day of entrees, just to spread things out a bit. What we ate: - Fall pickles: I enjoyed this, with the bit of chili heat, especially the cauliflower - Stuffed Mushrooms: I love mushrooms, and these blended creamy, sweet and hot with a filling of cream cheese, berry BBQ sauce and smoked jalapeno - Pistachio and herb chevre cheeseball: a fresh cheese enhanced by nutty and Herby notes - Smoked bologna: my husband's choice; very meaty and there was a lot of it - Spicy beer cheese spread: a very Midwestern feeling appetizer with tasty veggies and crackers Entrees: -Shrimp and grits: my choice: comforting southern food with lots of flavor - Duck fried rice: his choice: rich rice offset by more delicate vegetables - Sticky ribs: my choice: the pumpkin spice and coffee liqueur glaze worked well for a cozy, wintry meal - Braised pork shoulder: his choice; served with beans and cornbread, this was another hearty, comforting meal with a Southern twist. Desserts: - Winter creme brulee: this was my favorite, flavored with mulling spices, orange and pomegranate We also enjoyed a seasonal sorbet and the fall spice cake. We had the same server both nights, Elizabeth, who was good at making recommendations, and also staggering the small plates on our small table so we wouldn't be overloaded. Chef Sara was in house the second night, bringing dishes to tables. The setting is relaxed, not overly loud, with moody lighting. Overall, we would certainly return to Freight House!
