Service was extremely slow. The food was basically inedible. Apparently they are using a new grease or oil for cooking and everything tasted 'off'. I couldn't even eat my eggs! The patty sausage was not edible. The biscuits were TINY and didn't taste great. We tried the skillet cinnamon rolls, but they tasted bad and left a horrible aftertaste. Traveling for work, this is my go to restaurant for food or breakfast. Today I went with the Louisiana Style Shrimp skillet and it was delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was wonderful. I also got some hush puppy dippers that came with comeback sauce. Phenomenal. Service was wonderful as always. Catlin sat us down but before she did she had someone sweep under the table. Her name was Alexis and I didn't mention something before she walked away about the table is dirty but she just ignored it. Caitlin had four stars and so did Alexis We have to take one start away from her. So I went inside the kitchen area and it was like several people in there and a nice young black lady I asked everybody anybody can watch the table and she hurry up and grabbed a nice soft and wash our table and she was so very sweet and nice. Came here on a Saturday night at 8:30 pm. The restaurant was pretty empty, but it still took 10 minutes after the hostess showed us our table before our waiter showed up. Ordered our drinks first. Took at least another 10 minutes or more to get the drinks and then we ordered our food. Waiter came back and told me they were out of chicken and dumplings so I ordered the chicken with my sampler platter. When the food came out my carrots and meatloaf were barely luke warm! My husband's Texas fries looked like they were soaked in old oil! Waiter forgot the salad and had to be reminded to bring it out. All and all the food has gone down in quality over the past 3 years and the prices have gone up! Not planning on returning anytime soon unless maybe for breakfast only. Love the store; NOT the food. I'm so sorry to write this to you, but your restaurant has gone downhill since we first visited in 2022. I've "tried to like your food", but I come away disappointed. I had bland mashed potatoes - just the plain ones. I was able to get the loaded hashbrowns instead. Even one of your waitstaff agreed that things are getting pretty bland around there. I would like to see healthier options - fruit is fine, but you don't feel full and satisfied with just that. Your chicken dishes are pretty good, and I do like the buttermilk pancakes. Service is pretty good. I never feel rushed. The decor and atmosphere is good. I LOVE your store out front. I could shop there all day. So, I see that you are making changes country-wide. I think your new logo is a HUGE mistake. People my age (64 and older) like to have nostalgia when going to your store. I do see some more dishes added to your menu. Perhaps we can visit again and try that. It would be important for this store to hire chefs that care about what they are preparing, and taste the food before it comes out. Service was really the only positive thing about our last trip. We have visited this restaurant many times in the past and the food has always been good and portions have been perfect. This trip: food was NOT acceptable. Mac & cheese looked like a pile of mush, fried chicken had some very hard pieces (I think in the coating), appetizer of hashbrown casserole tots used to come with cheese and bacon sprinkled on them---no more!, my husband's campfire meal was VERY measly for the price we paid, the biscuits and corn bread muffins were not as good as in the past, and even the diet soft drink was not good. HOW can you mess up a soda?! We will not be going back to this location (or possibly any locations if they've all gone downhill like this one). I didn't realize I had stopped at the Garner Cracker Barrel as last time I was there my order was completely wrong so I had avoided another stop. Anyway that is where I ended up today and hoped it would be better. My visit started well and the waitress was friendly but after she took my order and dropped off my food I never saw her again until she dropped off the bill. She was checking on other tables and refilling beverages but ignored me. I was never given a napkin and noticed the same thing at other tables. The couple in front of me used the brown paper bag the silverware was in. Another table was brought napkins as they were getting up and leaving the table. I was tempted to go get a napkin from that table as she wasn't clearing the tables either. When I was provided the bill I let her know I did not have a napkin but by the time she got back I was leaving too. I'm not sure if they were short on napkins and not providing them but service was not good. I had the chicken pot pie and did enjoy my meal though. But I won't be back to the Garner Cracker Barrel. read more

Very slow service, a long wait time, cold food, poor communication... overall, not good. I would have rated my experience as one star, but our server was trying in spite of the challenges. After being seated, it was 15 mins until we got drinks. It took another 30 mins for our cold food to arrive. For a restaurant that advertises itself as a quick stop for travelers, this was bad. The table next to us got up and left in a huff. The whole restaurant was filled with people waiting with no food. The biggest issue is that no one gave us a heads up that the kitchen was backed up. Our poor server looked like she was going to cry. When our food did come, it was cold. At that point, we just went ahead and ate. If choosing to go to this location, just make sure you aren't in a rush rush. The awkward slowness made our experience really unpleasant. read more

I was here when they opened this morning. One of the first people through the door when they opened it. We all were greeted promptly and with a smile and invited in. We were then seated and our servers took our drink orders right away. I drank ice tea, and I ordered a country fried steak, scrambled eggs and hash brown casserole. The country fried steak had a good flavor, you could taste the beef, and the outside was crispy. The gravy was very thick with a mild taste. The eggs were cooked well and the casserole was the perfect compliment to this meal. My server (Jamie) was friendly and helpful. She made this visit very enjoyable. After eating I wandered their store a bit and saw they had Lodge cast iron cookware (with the Cracker Barrel logo on the bottom) which I like. I ended up buying a 5" square skillet. It was my first time using the Yelp app to order from cracker barrel but I didn't see that they send it to Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel was slow and when I arrived to get the food it had been sitting there but the person initially refused to let me get my food saying that I should have to give her something that Yelp was supposed to send me. Saturday I went to CB in Garner for brunch. I knew they were using frozen biscuits from last time I was there. But I thought give them a chance First one's cold and like rocks. This is our first time in this Cracker Barrel and I just came here because we were driving by this area and we were hungry and didn't know any other place to eat. I'm so happy we did it! The place was nice and clean with a warm atmosphere. The front store was inviting with their traditional boutique full of unique gifts , books, irresistible! Our waitress was friendly but the best part of course was the food! I just want to say thank you to whoever cooked for us today: you are special!!! Our food was cooked to perfection.... The meet temperature and the over medium eggs were on point! Biscuits fresh and fluffy, French toast crispy and sweet.... The thick bacon was also crispy and so flavorful! Not great, but certainly not terrible. But the real issue was the side of broccoli that came with the dish. Completely rotten and inedible! This kind of food should not have been sent or served. I think I visit Cracker Barrel more for the sentimental reasons (having been somewhere my family dined often as a child) than the actual food these days. I'm usually left underwhelmed. The meatloaf was just okay... not very well seasoned but extra extra ketchup helped a little. The hash brown casserole used to be my favorite.. but it just doesn't taste the same anymore. I have lived in 4 states and traveled through almost all the east coast, so I have been to a LOT of Cracker Barrel's. This was is #1 in my book! Wow, from the nice display's to the sweet hostess, then a excellent waitress and even the young man who was at the register....ALL of they employees here were kind, polite and professional. Whoever does the hiring here does an excellent job, the employees are exceptional! The food was typical Cracker Barrel except for one thing....the biscuits! PLEASE send your biscuit maker to the Morrisville location to train them on how to make good biscuits! The ones here are the best I have had in a long time. Great job! Another positive note, the food was hot when I received it. That does not always happen at other places, but did here. Wonderful food, just like an old-time family dinner. Service is excellent, even during peak meal hours. Location is convenient, right on the exit 312 off I-40. There's plenty of parking - don't let the seemingly-small size fool you - and take the time to sit and watch traffic go by in one of their porch rockers. Don't miss the Olde Country Store, especially at Christmas. They have an interesting selection of gifts and curios year-round, but at Christmas the array of old-fashioned and vintage brand candies is a must see. I stock up on candy sticks (old timey lemon, root beer and horehound, anyone?) like your grandparents told you about, and vintage treats like wax soda bottles that I haven't seen simce the 60s and 70s! This cracker barrel is definitely one of their better locations. Usually packed but they move quickly. I love the lemon pepper trout here. I was in love with the southern trout until they removed it from the menu. The old timer breakfast is always a hit. Good place to stop by for a meal anytime of day. The only reason they are getting 4 stars is because I've had issues with the online ordering or call in ordering. My mom has done with multiple times where she'll order the sampler and they'll be out of something like the meatloaf and give her something else in it's place without asking her first and its usually the cassarole which she doesn't like.
