We came for dinner a few weeks ago on a Tuesday night, It was a pretty decent sized party (9 people) We all had separate checks and weren't able to call ahead as it was last minute since we caught a later showing of the movie we were seeing at MJR. The cook quitr IN THE MIDDLE of dinner rush so the manager had to help out in the kitchen, They apologized several times because the food took a little longer and even made sure we didn't forget the cake that came with my daughters meal. I do enjoy Cracker Barrel and this location gets a 3.5/5. This locations seems to be a better one in the local area in my opinion. The staff is way nicer here. The food came out hot, but my biscuits wasn't so hot. The lemon pepper trout here always tastes great. It's typically what I like to order. My only complaint about Cracker Barrel is their portions. The portions are so much smaller than what it seemed to be before. They use to fill the dishes, now it's barely full. I do enjoy their new French beignets since they added them to the menu. I'm glad they are keeping them also. You can't complain about the prices either. They're much less expensive than other dining spots. read more

We went to this Cracker Barrel for breakfast as we were staying at the hotel next door. The restaurant had the ambiance of, well, a Cracker Barrel. Old timey store plus restaurant. Oddly, I'd never been to CB for breakfast before. I do enjoy their lunch/dinner options. We went there two days in a row, and both servers were very nice and attentive. I ordered the pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. Those were the BEST pancakes I've ever eaten. Fluffy on the inside, crispy and buttery on the outside, with real maple syrup. I was in heaven! The eggs were cooked to my liking and the bacon was nice and crispy. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the floors were greasy and I was slipping as I walked. My mom and I LOVE shopping at cracker barrel's all around the country. We drove 45 minutes to this location as it's the closest to our home. We went a little crazy at the register buying 51 salt and pepper shakes (we're collectors, I know it's weird) plus a few extra items. Mandy helped us at the counter with her lighthearted humor. We went there for breakfast and both of us had steak and eggs. The steak was at least 50% grizzle. At times the serrated steak knife would not cut through it and I had to use my hands to yank if off. A large piece of the grizzle got stuck in the throat of the person I was dining with and had an extremely hard time getting it to come back out. When asking the manager if they had anything available to help with choking, he would only say that he's breathing so it was not food stuck but just a sensation of it being stuck. However, having spent some time in bathroom forcing a vomit type action, a large chunk of grizzle/steak did come out. I guess it was not just a "sensation". The waitress was horrible. The food mediocre and the ambiance family oriented. My husband's hash browns weren't burnt beyond recognition and had to be sent back. When I advised that the forks/knives were dirty she got flustered and said she was getting a manager. I am never one to assume, but being people of color at this place in Brighton made me feel like we had made a very bad choice coming here. She stomped off to the kitchen and came back with better hashbrowns and began to explain that folks mistaken their dish washer cleaner as food on their forks?! Really!?! I showed her the food caked on the utensils. By the way, no manager ever came over. They weren't water spots! My husband still tipped her 20%. On the flip side I REALLY enjoyed their country store. I bought a GRINCH sweatshirt and the folks were nice. Will I be back to another Cracker Barrel? Probably not. You only get once chance to serve me nasty burnt food with an attitude. I went here for breakfast. I asked my waitress about a couple things and told her I'd never been there for breakfast. She said she'd give me time to look at the menu and she walked away...while I was still talking. I had to turn to look at her because she made no move to step back to my table... I ordered the bacon skillet and it was barely warm. I told my waitress and she said "oh" and walked away. When I checked out, the short, older, gray haired lady at the register didn't even speak, not even after I said hi...she never made eye contact either, she just kept talking and gossiping to her coworker about how hard the 9 hour shift is. Also we had to wait for a table because of no hostess for 4 minutes, even though they were only 2.5 customers on this sub-zero Michigan-became-Minnesota January day. 3/5 Food: Comfort food is of course where cracker barrel shines, and we were blinded by the oil fueled lamps so to speak. Country fried steak was savory with an off-white topping of gravy that hardened almost to a frosting consistency as we watched. The broccoli was delish, the country fried steak was savory and comforting, the bacon macaroni and cheese was quite awesome on this most freezing of days. Everything was perfectly designed to make you feel like Grandma was cooking and serving it, Grandpa was telling his old stories, except this time his stories ended up being repetitively boring country music playing over the radio. Thought we would give it a second chance. Once again they are out of their southern fried chicken. This is only served on Saturday and Sunday. They are open until 9pm and they're out of southern fried chicken at 3pm. So we ordered regular chicken. They forgot about the salad and biscuits. That was the dirtiest smelliest bathroom I have ever been in. If I would have used the bathroom before I ate I would have left right then. Every stall except one was covered in feces and the smell when you walked in took my breath away. Doesn't anyone that works there clean the bathroom or at least check it once in a while. I ate there, and ordered a blueberry pancake. Got it, looked delicious with a scoop of butter on it. I smeared the butter all over, it was cold so it was clumpy (not a big deal). Took a bite, then went to smear the butter over more now that it was warmed, and that's when I realized.....a crumpled up paper straw wrapper WAS IN THE BUTTER THAT I SMEARED ALL OVER MY PANCAKE!!!! So a dirty plate must have came in contact with the CLEAN RAW FOOD!!!!!! the manager said "I don't know how that could have been in there, we don't even have those types of straws" mind you I don't use a straw and that was the exact same straw I still had on my table. My first time dining at a Cracker Barrel. Build my own breakfast. Eggs, sausage, hash browns, with biscuits and gravy. All in all, not to bad. You can really taste the smokiness of the gravy. I imagine they use bacon fat in the recipe. The coffee was hot, especially the fresh pot that the poor waitress spilled on my leg. . Totally an accident. We were greeted quickly at the host stand. Taken to our table, we were greeted quickly, and our waters were brought out fast. We took a minute to check out their updated menu, as it's been a while since we have been here. They've added mimosas and beer to their menu, as well as some unique, country-style food items. There's also fried pickles and cheese curds. I stuck with my usual: chicken and dumplings with carrots and Mac and cheese as my sides. My grandma got the cat fish with dumplings and Cole slaw. We will have to be back to try their new menu some time, and maybe even get a drink! I've always loved coming here and they're 95% of the time consistent. I don't live near a Cracker Barrel, but I love some good pancakes!! Food was good. Husband and I didn't like the sausage gravy - not very flavorful. Pancakes are awesome. Men and women's bathroom floors seemed slippery, husband mentioned to hostess. Same with restaurant floor. Waitress was good. There was no one at the check outs and the gentleman had to walk to hostess station (to get her attention - he called out to her three times, but she was chatting with another employee). Believe it or not, I'd never been to a Cracker Barrel before, despite having passed them on the road. Today, I decided to go & invited my sister along. First of all, they were doing a really good job with the social distancing; every other table had a sign that said it wasn't available. They also brought a basket with napkins & utensils after we sat down -- at a table that had obviously just been cleaned. I was impressed at the size & variety of the menu; there's truly something for everybody there! I got the fried fish special. Four pieces of fish + 2 sides for $10.49. I chose a side salad for an additional $1.69 and macaroni and cheese for my sides. The side salad was really good -- plenty of lettuce, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, bacon and cheese. I did ask for honey mustard dressing, but they brought ranch. No matter; I like ranch as well. The pieces of fish were huge -- I could only eat 1.5 of them! -- and had a light, crunchy batter which was very tempura like. The tartar sauce also had some unique flavor that I liked. The macaroni and cheese was very good as well. Perfectly smooth but not gummy, and a nice, cheddary flavor. I also had half of a biscuit, and I took the cornbread home along with the rest of my meal. My sister had the chicken & dumplings ($5.49) which came with one side. The bowl was full, and she also only ate about half. I was amused by the store. I thought the prices there were high, but I guess that since their food prices are so reasonable, they have to make it up somewhere! There are no Cracker Barrels close to where I live (this was probably 35-45 minutes away), but the next time I want to take a drive, I will definitely consider coming back; it was so much better than what I expected it would be! read more

You can never go wrong with Cracker Barrel. Today I had the fried turkey, dressing, and green bean casserole and it was very yummy! I've had the this dish two other times and I'm never disappointed. It consist of two perfectly seasoned fried turkey breasts, green bean casserole, and actual dressing (NOT STUFFING!). The dressing is seasoned nicely and almost as good as my mom's (almost). I have not been to this particular store in a few years due to the fact that their staff is extremely rude. I went there with my grandmother, mom and sister and the staff kept shooting us dirty looks. The server acted like she was constipated. I am hoping that they have decided to hire on some decent staff in the more recent years. My family and I are always very kind to restaurant workers, so these people had no right to treat us that way. I just left the hospital for surgery. I had not eaten in 17 hours being diabetic I needed food. with a limited diet, I knew Cracker Barrel would have grilled food. Wife and I have dined here since it first opened decades ago. We were greeted by Host Travis whose genuine good natured was brought a smile to our faces. I walked past Manager Dan and I recognized that he was actually helping serve hot food with his wait staff. Usually I have seen managers here who just stand around and do nothing. I knew this was going to be a good meal. Waiter Greg is a life saver. Mentioning my need for something to offset my low blood sugar, he immediately brought me fresh biscuits and my lunch salad. I cannot thank him enough because I felt woo much better. The rainbow trout was delicious, my wife even enjoyed her meal. Greg was budding 10 to 12 tables and he cheerfully greeted each customers and quickly mer their needs and wishes. To management, please do everything you can for Greg, He is going into law enforcement and eventually join the FBI. We arrived about 7:25pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant wasn't even half full. We were seated promptly and had our order taken promptly and that's where the positive experience ended. We ordered water, lemonade and a chocolate milk to drink. A salad, kid's cheeseburger, meatloaf and chicken tenders along with four sides and some corn bread and biscuits. It took about 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive. At other Cracker Barrel's we've had corn bread and biscuits arrive with drinks, this wasn't the case tonight. This was the last time we saw our waiter for 50 minutes. We were debating paying for our drinks and leaving. Someone must have overheard us as in another 5 minutes our food arrived, minus the meatloaf. About 7 minutes later the meatloaf arrived. Our food was cold when it arrived. We repeatedly asked our waiter for drink refills, ketchup, extra onions for our salad. He eventually brought these items and vanished again. We had a movie to catch so we didn't even bother mentioning that the food was cold. Typically a waiter/waitress will stop by shortly after the food arrives to ask if everything is ok. Our waiter showed up when we were almost finished with our meals. At this point we asked for our bill, paid and left. Definitely not a positive experience at this location. We were seated at 3:10, didn't get our order put in til almost 3:30. Got our food at 4:15-4:20. Our server wasn't the one who delivered it, but another one who sincerely apologized for the extended wait and would send someone over to us to talk about it to try and work something out. I understand that Y'all are busy. But today was shocking. Most days we go, we never wait more than 20 minutes for our breakfast, and that's when Y'all are busy.
