He wanted to order the Oreo pie, but they were out of it because someone forgot to get them out of the freezer to thaw this morning. they don't offer the brownie and ice cream anymore, they did have what looked like a very good multilayer, chocolate cake, along with confetti cake, and a carrot cake and a cheesecake but that was all that was available in the dessert case this afternoon. I should remark that the café was at least 80% full when we arrived for a late lunch(mid afternoon) so there was a lot of happy customers visiting and eating, and a great majority of the booths and tables were in use. I'm begging to wonder if this place has changed ownership recently. This used to be a regular stop for me years ago but my last few visits have left me dissapointed. The quality of the food just isn't there anymore and believe me when I tell you that it saddens me. The owners used to be there creating guests, I haven't seen then on my last few visits and I'm left to wonder if the quality left with them. I'll give them a few more chances, but at this rate it's looking grim. read more

The place is light and open, and the conversation that happens at tables can only be described as unique to Howell with the amount of "regulars" that frequent Sunrise. I suspect most towns have a "down home" restaurant like Sunrise and it's always been a good dining experience.

I could not order a single online and they cashier was also not able to do so. It looks like they wanted to take on Cane's but are failing.
