Egg sandwich with hashbrown casserole.
Jen B.

Some of the most gregarious staff we have met at a CB, from our server, Stefany, to Terry in the gift area, good people spreading sunshine. Thanks y'all! We ordered what we ALWAYS order, an egg sandwich with hashbrown casserole and an Old Timers Breakfast, and two coffees. Our server was kind, prompt and even fulfilled our quirky request to fill up our water bottle, plus a coffee to go. Thanks girl! You made our experience super sweet! My one complaint to corporate: why doesn't the mayo on the egg sandwich come ON the sandwich anymore?? Now I have to deconstruct my sandwich, mayo it up, and put it back together. Just NO.

Real fireplace. Won't see that in Cali

Our server Julia seemed overwhelmed. I asked for toasted wheat toast and she brought me two untoasted wheat bread. Wow! She was disheveled and did not know what to do. She should have had a trainer shadowing her to make on-the-spot corrections. It was messy in there. This same server wiped the crumbs on the floor, then sat a couple at the table. ‍ Can't make this up!

Chicken Fried Chicken- yummy and tender

I received a coupon for free Biscuit Beignets. Since we were on our way to New Orleans I decided to try these at CB. When we entered a sweet young man took us to our table. Very polite. I do not use the mobile app for pick up because I am always on the road and I stop to eat a nice meal inside. So, I was frustrated with having to order my food on the app as a pick up, which was the only way to get them free. Corporate should make the offer dine in or mobile. Our waitress Madeline was new so she really could not help me, but she got her manager Kathrine, who was a doll and very patient until I placed my order from my phone. My aunt placed her order with Madeline. Because Kathrine helped me with my order, she put the food on a regular plate and sent it out with my aunts order. I love Chicken fried chicken and CB has one of the best. I got carrots, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. The chicken was tender! The Macaroni and the Mashed Potatoes were creamy. The baby carrots were not sweet, but they were good. I like sweet. The Biscuit Beignets are cinnamon sugared donuts and are okay in taste but I am glad I did not pay for them. I will say the best part of the BB was the pecan syrup. Too sweet for me to have more than one, but it made the beignets taste really good. Sooo much food for only $13.19. My aunt got the same thing with different sides. We ended up taking half of it home for our lunch the next day. AND it was still good! We tried to enjoy an afternoon cup of coffee but it was so strong we could not drink but half a cup. This was a very enjoyable meal. Server, food, manager, host, restaurant, store.... they all get five stars. August 11, 2022

A yummy cool interesting place to enjoy some delicious fried chicken! Breakfast all day is a plus if you love soft yummy pancakes. The drink menu has various flavors and choices which I loved. Spacious dining room and very friendly customer service staff. I'd highly recommend you checking this place out!

I find this highly irritating and I suspect most other customers feel the same. If this is part of the Manager's training for cashiers it should be eliminated promptly. I am generous when service is good, but it's not any business of the cashier about how generous or not generous I am. Adults don't need to be given a "guilt trip" by the cashier about their generosity. Adults know when and how to tip appropriately without a cashier prompting them. Now, the food is almost always good, but I'll make another cashier complaint while I'm at it. Commonly the cashiers will ask if everything was okay and I usually say "yes", but if I ever say "no" which is very rare no cashier has ever offered to resolve the problem. So, why are they asking the question? If it's just meant as a cordial greeting they should find something more useful and appropriate to say such as "Hello Sir/Madam. Will this be cash or credit card?" A follow-up "Thank you." would be perfect after the bill is paid. Now, let's get to ambience. Well, it's not great, but it could be better. It's a wide open room where anyone can see anyone else in the entire building and the noise from all the conversations going on is continual. But, there is also some type of music being played all the time. The music is useless because it just becomes part of the existing noise. The Manager should re-think this and turn the music off. That would be a simple fix to help ambience. And, of course, there are ways to reduce all the people noise, but that involves an investment in seating similar to the old Capri's Italian restaurants or the current Casa Fuentes restaurant where booths have high backs and seating is more plush and sound absorbing. But, that's not likely in the budget. So, simply turning the music off is a no cost way to improve ambience.

When it comes to cuisines, as a generational born and raised southerner, I'm always going to be…read moreextra critical when it comes to good ol' southern cooking. It's the anniversary of my mom's passing and Easter weekend so a particularly tough time and I was feeling for some home cooked cozy cookin but not up for doing it myself. As we are out of state and can't be home with family this weekend, we went searching on UberEats to hit that spot, knowing I was going to end up with something like Cracker Barrel or iHop, neither of which sounded good but, let's be real, I'm emotionally eating right now. However, a newly listed Sunday's popped up in the delivery options. The menu was a bit limited but scored points for authenticity . My hubby got the ribs, collards, and mac-n-cheese. I got the fried pork chop, rice & gravy, green beans & fried okra. Both came with a roll and we (of course) ordered sweet tea, something we rarely do anymore, only for special occasions. So here's where I get extra critical of my southern food. This is home cookin' and just what the doctor ordered. I didn't want fancy, I didn't want frilly, I needed true comfort food and that's what I found here. Could I suggest some tweaks? Sure, the rice and gravy didn't have much flavor, could use a little s&p in the gravy. The pork chops were a tad salty as well as the green beans but both had great flavor! The fried okra is, well fried okra, but at least it's not breaded in corn meal. Too many restaurants try to perfect perfection and over correct. Hubby's ribs were good, collards were good but we didn't have pepper sauce to add that pop of vinegar since we ordered delivery. His Mac n cheese (and this is gonna hurt, was a bit dry) but lately I haven't been feeling for Mac n cheese and haven't been a huge fan of the baked Mac n cheese trend lately anyway. I always feel it's dry so this is not a knock to the restaurant. Was every item perfection? No. Would I order again? In a heartbeat! This is home cooking. It's not pretentious. It's no doubt made with love and it reminded me of sitting down at my grandma's dinner table for supper. I needed a real comfort meal and that's what I got, warmed my heart. Oh and the sweet tea! My hubby and I have been opting for healthier menu items for several years now and I've even lost my taste for southern sweet tea as it's now too sweet even for me, again, born and raised on southern sweet tea. We ordered an unsweet tea to dilute it knowing I wanted the comfort of sweet tea but I probably couldn't handle so much sugar. Well, no need. It's rare to find a restaurant that gets it sweet enough without making the tea thick like syrup, true southerners know what I'm talking about. Sunday's sweet tea hits that perfect line where it's sweet enough but not thick and the tea flavor still comes through. No need to dilute with unsweet tea, it's perfect! I knocked a star, mostly due to the imbalance of heavily salted pork chops and green beans with the lack of flavor on the rice and gravy. I think a little balance there, share the spices lol would really make my meal top notch, but again, if my grandma or momma had cooked this meal I'd have no complaints. The only reason I'm even pointing this out is to offer a fair review on Yelp, otherwise I wouldn't say a word and eat with a smile on my face and an overstuffed belly.

Seeing lots of people sitting out under the pavilion (even in 90 degree weather) helped me realize the food must be good! The front porch was accommodating to the ones who were waiting to be seated. The hostess on the front porch asked how many were in our party, and then took us inside to seat us. Entering inside reminded me of my great grandparents home, quaintness and community all wrapped into one room filled with tables filled by family and friends enjoying a meal together. The menu was not overwhelming and it did not take long to get a visual of the items as they passed by to other surrounding tables. The servers were friendly and offered all kinds of good advice for the guests. The food was amazing-good wholesome stuff. You would think your grandma was in the kitchen cooking because it is fresh and includes good deep flavors. The stuffed french toast was 2 slices of butter enriched Texas toast with a large serving of strawberries and cream cheese filling squished in the middle. The palmetto burger had just as pimento cheese as it did burger. With layers of crisp lettuce and a slice of tomato, get your mouth ready! The Orleans po-boy was huge- lots of shrimp goodness on a sub roll...another large serving....so come hungry. To finish it off we shared the pecan pie paired with their buttermilk lemon ice cream (yes you read that right).....delicious!!!!! We will be back and remember the cash next time . Another trip today and another great meal, today we did breakfast and boy was it amazing-Will's smothered sausage and potatoes was a deep bowl of goodness, the monte cristo was delicious but after eating a ham ball and a Apple fritter allowed me to only eat half of the sandwich so I have leftovers for later. You can never go wrong with the basics- one person in our group had it with bacon and the other with fried bologna.
