Weekend special, shrimp fried rice/ add crab meat for $4
    Lai Wun C.

Finally got a chance to try out Crabby Cali's. There are some tables and chairs but the restaurant looks more like a to-go place. The service was fast and the cashier was chill. The prices are high but considering their items are mostly seafood and inflation, it's reasonable. I'm not a big eater so I couldn't finish one full meal anyway. I ordered their weekend special (today is Friday), shrimp fried rice for $15 with +$4 lump crab meat, and I'm not disappointed. The amount of crab meat is generous, the shrimp are huge and fresh, and the rice has a hint of creole seasoning with a kick from the sauce that was drizzled on top. I'm a huge seafood lover, can't wait to come back and try other dishes!

One word: DELICIOUS!! The food was delicious. I got the fried shrimp tacos with crabby fries and I was not disappointed. The food was made to order and the presentation was everything. Service was great. I definitely felt welcomed. There are some high top tables in lobby to eat at. I will be coming back!!

The food is so good here. Full of flavor and always served nice and fresh and hot. The service when you order is quick and friendly. The owner is generally there and comes out and speaks and ask how I'm doing. 10/10 highly recommend

They started off strong years ago. But they never have the crab dip. I don't care what time of the day it is. Someone needs to learn how to manage their inventory.

OMGGGGGGG !!!!! This place was nothing short of amazing. I'm always skeptical getting crab fries but I said let me give it a shot. Mannnnnn!!! It was real crab meat. Not imitation. The cheese sauce on the fries was really good and seasoned. A bit pricey but truly worth every penny. I also like there's old bay available for extra seasoning. The customer service was top tier. The cashier answered all questions and was sure we'd enjoy our food.

I'm on the fence about this one guys. So over all the shrimp were huge and fried really well. Chicken was well seasoned and fried nicely however the crabby fries were a huge disappointment. It tasted like just a can of crab opened and dumped on top with a drizzle of bland cheese and I REALLY wanted to like these but just couldn't. The huspuppues were also not on the online menu to order but a bit pricey for their size. Overall I'd go again for the shrimp alone but pass on the fries.

Great food, place, and location.. Order ahead, picked up food, tapped to pay, and back home to enjoy my goods. I'm very picky about seafood due to me being raised in New England, and this place passed the quality test.

Found a new place to eat near where I live , it's called Crabby Calis Seafood ( it's been there for a minute I'm just now discovering it ) . Picked up Chicken Wing and shrimp combos . ( hubby and I wanted the same thing ) I got my wings tossed in mango habanero and my husband got his in buffalo.. we also got a side of fried whiting ... everything was really good including the service . They take pride in their food and I will definitely be going back...

This is a nice grab and go seafood spot. There are a few seats if you do decide to sit down and eat. Very casual in there, the food was amazing, wings were crispy, I was surprised how good the crabby fries were. Definitely a must if you come here.

Sitting in a barbershop in the area and heard a few people talking about this place. They were saying that it is extremely good but a tad bit pricey. Decided to give this place a try. Asked the guy at the register what was the most popular item and he said everything. I laughed and he was like no seriously. Went with chicken wings and the sandwich with fish/shrimp/oysters with crabby fries. I will say they put a lot of crab on the fries. My sandwich was very good. My gf loved the wings. - - - Returned and got the shrimp po boy and crabby fries. Again, the fries had a healthy about about crab. My po boy was mostly bread and the shrimp seemed smaller than they were on the previously sandwich I ordered. I would say it's pricey but they give a decent amount of food for the most part.

I tried Crabby Cali's for the first time yesterday. It was so good! The establishment was clean. With the pandemic going on, they take your order then you go out and wait by your car and they will bring it out. The food was so fresh and piping hot. I ordered the fried oysters with crabby fries. The fries were out of this world! They are not skimpy with the crab meat. My friends got the fried shrimp which they loved as well. There was a little bit of a wait. Apparently this is a favorite for the locals in that area. It was well worth it.

1 Star more like no star smfh What Happened to Captain K?!…read more I used to LOVE Captain K. Like... this was a childhood staple for me. My grandparents would take me there all the time growing up. The food was always fresh, hot, and flavorful -- the type of seafood that made you sit back and hum while eating. And the customer service? Top tier. Friendly faces, quick service, and a warm vibe like family. Fast forward to today I walked in expecting to feel a little nostalgic and maybe even bring back a piece of my childhood. What I got instead was a horror show. First red flag: I instantly realized it's under new management. The energy was cold, like I had walked into a place that didn't even want to be open. No greeting. No smile. The light-skinned girl behind the counter had an attitude like I was bothering her just by existing. Short answers, eye rolls girl, you work here, not me. Then the food. Lawd. My fries were limp, undercooked, and soggy like they were dropped in oil and pulled out 30 seconds later. The fish? RAW. Not just undercooked -- I mean damn near swimming. It was cold and slimy inside. DISGUSTING. Now let's talk about the line staff. Dirty uniforms, no gloves, no hairnets. I saw one of them scratching his neck and then going right back to touching food like that was normal. I literally lost my appetite standing there watching it. The kitchen looked like it hadn't been cleaned since Obama was in office. This ain't the Captain K I grew up on. This place went from a neighborhood gem to a straight-up health code violation. I wouldn't recommend this spot to my worst enemy. I left with a refund and a promise to never come back. Grandparents would be ashamed of what this place has become. DO BETTER

The place is huge and I'm ashamed to say I thought it would just be crappy but I was totally blown away by the food the size of the place the waitresses were pretty good. There was one or two that we called a couple of times and just they walked right past us and one had the audacity to say "it's not my department" she deliberately walked right by us and she was a waitress no less so another waitress saw that and came and helped us and I know (because I was a waitress myself once years ago) that it gets busy and crazy but at least say to the customer paying the $25 per person that I'll be right with you. Don't just walk right by the customer tables! Back to the food... the king crab legs are delicious, but mine were cold and not completely cooked. The new waitress actually went and got me some more hot cooked crab legs but the other food was amazing, too. Everything in there was amazing. I actually walked out of there and I was very impressed and a "happy camper"!!! King crab legs are only served from Friday to Sunday evening. I believe that if anyone goes in the Ocean Grill & Seafood restaurant you'll also come out very impressed. AREAL IMPORTANT thing I'm going to point out to everyone is that they are one of a very few open bars who actually keep up with replacement of all the food sitting on the bars for the customers and I LOVE that and I certainly hope they keep it up without raising their prices. p. s. They had crab legs, shrimp, chicken, sushi, Mongolian bbq, rice, fruit, ice cream, and more. Some of the food looked like it had been sitting a bit. But the selection seemed nice. Normally I stick to the same foods to be safe, because I'm slightly picky. The rolls are the best thing there. They're so soft and buttery. The chicken wings were bland but still ok. They were battered and fried good. The coconut chicken was ok, but if you have texture issues it'll get the best of you. The Mongolian bbq was pretty good. They have thin slices of meat, veggies, eggs, and sauces. Then the gentleman cooks it on the grill in front of you. That dollar makes him holler honey boo boo, so make sure to tip him!! Lol. 2 plates cost $30+ so I was a little bit like dang. Because I was being very cautious of what I got to stay under my budget. But my budget had already said bye Felicia! Lol. So I got over it. The staff is friendly and I like all the options they have. I don't see me returning for the buffet anytime soon, but I'd go back for the Mongolian bbq. Check them out!!

My most recent visit here was on January 23, 2026. I've seen this place several times as I have gone with my mom to Hobby Lobby. It caught my attention again to try this place when they were listed as a part of the 2026 Virginia Beach Restaurant Week. This is what ultimately got me to get in and try them out. The outside of the place is similar to other places next to the business, but they are very easy to spot. On each of my visits here, I didn't encounter any issues with parking and such, so there seems to be ample parking available. When my mom and I first came in, we were immediately greeted and were able to get a table immediately. I wasn't sure what it would be at first since I saw stuff about reservations. This first visit was on January 21, 2026. Once we were seated, our server came to the table to ask us what we wanted to drink. I did the water with lemon, and my mom went for a Coke, though the Coke never came to the table during this first visit. In the end, that was no big deal. Since we were here specifically for the restaurant week, we stuck to that menu that evening. For the appetizer, I went with the Picanha Empanadas. For the main entree, I went with the 8 oz Filet Mignon with Green Beans and Queso De Mano as my two sides. For the dessert, I sure did go for the Rum Crème Brulée. My mom ended up doing the same thing on this first visit. A few minutes after ordering, the Empanadas came to the table. This came with an olive mayo chimichurri for dipping. The empanadas and the chimichurri complemented each other very well. The taste was amazing too. A few minutes before the entrees would come out, our server came over and put some hot sauce and chimichurri sauce at the table to use. When the entrees came out, they looked really good, and they were hot, so it took a few moments to start. I started with the green beans, and they had such a great flavor to them. By the time I finished that, it was time to indulge in the Filet Mignon. I had ordered it on medium, and it was cooked perfectly. This is not something I have often, but this was awesome. The flavor paired with the chimichurri sauce made it an enjoyable entree. I finished off the main course with the Queso De Mano cheese. This was a very flavorful cheese. The last course was the Rum Crème Brulée. It was quite the surprise when the server came with a blowtorch to go over the top of the dessert. This dessert was the ultimate indulgence for me as I don't normally do these types of foods. The experience was so good that we decided to come back a few days later, on January 23, 2026. I would end up getting the same set of items since it was still restaurant week, but we also ordered the Guacamole appetizer since we were there during happy hour. The chips and guacamole were amazingly good. You can tell it was made fresh. My mom got the Picanha Burger this time. I can say she really liked the burger. Overall, these were two excellent experiences during the restaurant week. The food and service were great with no major issues. One thing I want to note is that they do charge a 3.5% fee if you use a card to pay instead of cash. If you're looking for a unique type of steakhouse, this place is absolutely worth checking out.

We had three servers approach our table to get our drink order until one of the three settled on being our server. Odd. I ordered their Filet Mignon and it came with two sides. I picked boiled yucca and asparagus. (Note: Asparagus and Green Beans were the only vegetable option.) They seemed to have a dedicated staff for delivering food to the tables, but they brought the wrong order to our table at first. Thankfully, it was a quick turnaround for the right order. We may have waited fifteen minutes tops for our food after placing our order. Not bad for a busy place. I got my steak rare (the only way to eat a steak) and it came out perfectly. It even had hints of flavor from the grill. Know what I mean? My yucca was okay. Not excited about the pickled onions on top (it didn't say that on the menu) which I scrapped off. It was seasoned lightly with butter and salt. My asparagus was crisp and delicious. Anytime I cook it at home it gets mushy, yet theirs was spot on. The restaurant itself was a bit dark inside, and decorated with a country-western vibe. (I remember when it was a karaoke bar, RIP!) The service could have been better, but their food is a good enough reason for us to return.

One cook had extremely long locs that hung past his waist and wasn't wearing a hair net, while the other staff member was properly covered with gloves, apron, and a hair net. Even so, no one washed their hands after moving between tasks--handling raw items, pulling food from the fryer, and even touching the register. The most alarming moment was when a customer walked in from outside, went straight behind the counter, began talking loudly near the food, and was never asked to wash her hands, put on gloves, or step away. This was extremely unsanitary and should never happen in any food establishment. As for the environment, the floors and counters didn't look clean, and the setup leaves customers watching every misstep with no separation between prep and front area. Definitely some health department red flags. On a positive note, the food itself was cooked well--I ordered fish and fries, and the other item was a fish sandwich. Prices were reasonable, but overall the sanitation issues overshadowed everything. This is not a place I plan to revisit.

Each time I drive south on Kempsville Road I have tried to locate it but failed. Today after visiting my favorite ice cream spot I decided on an early dinner and set my GPS for the restaurant's address. To my surprise it was extremely visible, sitting right at the entrance to Kemps River Crossing Shopping Center. Turn into the entrance from Kempsville Road and you'll see it sitting directly on the right. It was early. So we were able to immediately get a comfortable table and extremely prompt service. Our server remembered all my special needs. She answered my fiend's questions about her preferred wine choice. Our drinks were served very quickly. The menu was extremely interesting. There were different sections for differing tastes. The Lunch/Dinner Menu has sections for Sandwiches, Soups & Salads, Small Plates, Signature Burgers, Tavern Pizza & European Comfort Foods. The latter was where my interest lay. It was a really hard choice since I could easily have ordered many of the dishes on the menu. How could I choose between the British, German & Irish entrees? After much agonizing I finally chose German. My Jägerschnitzel, a German classic, consisted of hand-flattened pork loin fried and topped with traditional onion and mushroom gravy. It was served with kraut, warm potato salad, and green beans. The large portions were perfectly prepared. I was pleased with the choice. My friend ordered the other dish I had considered: Magners® Corned Beef & Beer Braised Cabbage which consisted of Magners® cider marinated USDA corned beef brisket, slow-cooked and thinly sliced in house, paired with braised cabbage and bacon, chive whipped potatoes, and whole carrots. This will be my choice the next time I visit. The food came very quickly. In fact, too quick. I like a little time to linger over my cocktail before the food arrives. I've now learned that next time I'll wait a little longer to give the server my order. Park Lane Tavern exuded the air of a happy place. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. It's a cross between a restaurant, tavern or very large comfortable diner. The closest restaurant I've found to this was a large cozy similar type establishment on the Jersey Shore, which was obviously a hangout for locals in the off season. The only thing missing at Park Lane was their roaring fire. But Park Lane has the better menu choices. There are distinctively different sections. We were in a section that consisted of regular tables and chairs, which is ideal for those of us with bad backs and titanium knees. :). But there were no televisions in the area. There were sections of high top tables, booths and large inviting looking bars. Televisions showing sports were visible in most sections. I'd like to try one of the different sections closer to the bar rather than to be immediately taken to the more comfortable section, obviously their section in which to seat people my age.:) After dinner I did a little research on the tavern. The establishment was designed to feature the elements of a European Tavern or Pub. It has succeeded well in replicating that feel. It offers the best of both American and European cuisine. The group, which also has Taverns in Hampton & Fredericksburg, features unique beverage offering with an extensive selection of draughts from around the world. In my opinion they have completely succeeded in their goal of providing atmosphere, design, cuisine and comfort. I can't wait to return and try the Corned Beef & Cabbage.
