I've never had an experience like the one I received at our local crabapple ace hardware store. Every question I had was answered with fantastic enthusiasm and an honest "love for the game." From the moment I walked in to the check-out, every employee was so kind and happy to help. Not only did they repair my ego lawnmower, but they got it done fast and effectively. And their immense selection of Yeti's and Benjamin Moore paints was refreshing in comparison to nearby competitive stores. Safe to say, If I ever need a repair, help with my at-home projects, or a simple mood-booster, I will not hesitate to run to this store. I would recommend this store to anyone who will listen- and its not like I'm somebody to take time out of their day to write a review unless they truly deserved it. read more

Employee by the name of Dave made my fiancé and I feel extremely uncomfortable! First, I do not look like your typical "Ace Hardware" shopper. I certainly realize that based on the multiple visits to the Ace Hardware near my home in Woodstock (Morgan's Ace Hardware; I cannot recommend them enough). However, I've never been treated any differently when visiting that store - they're fantastic. This was NOT the case with Crabapple Ace Hardware. On June 12, 2021 at approximately 11:00am, my fiancé (black female) and I (biracial male) entered the store in hopes of finding a heat deflector plate for a Kamado Joe. We quickly realized that they did not sell KJ products and were a Big Green Egg dealer. Cool, no problem! Despite not having what I wanted, I figured I could still look at their selection of lump charcoal, bbq rubs, Weber Kettle accessories, etc. They did have a nice selection, I'll give them that. After being in the store for a few moments, we were approached by Dave. He first asked my fiancé if she needed help and she politely declined. He made it a point to stay there despite being told no. As I walked down the isle toward them he looked at me and asked the same. Judging off Dave's tone, body language and overall demeanor, he was not truly seeking to assist us. He was suspicious of us and that was very apparent! I declined his assistance as well and Dave then said in a snarky tone, "Well most people come into a hardware store looking for something specific". He then awkwardly remained there making us both very uncomfortable. Both my fiancé and I knew exactly what was going on at that point as it was very apparent. Instead of escalating the issue with Dave we decided to leave. Luckily for us, as we were leaving, we noticed that a new Urban Hardware had just opened across the street. The store was new, clean and the associates were more than helpful. They also carry Kamado Joe products and have an even bigger grilling selection. The experience at Urban Hardware was much better than Crabapple Ace Hardware! I'm not entirely sure what Dave's prejudice was? Was it because we're both young? Was it because my fiancé is black? Was it because I'm of mixed races? Was it because we're in an interracial relationship? Not sure, but its clear who Dave seeks to serve and who Dave does not want shopping there. Lastly, before you dismiss what I'm saying (as I know the "race card" can be used unfairly sometimes), peep my reviews. I've never left a review anything even remotely close to this one. read more

I'd give six stars if I could. We've been shopping there for several years and we've ALWAYS had friendly and helpful service! Prices are competitive and the selection is great. BEWARE: I took my Stihl KM 55 unit into this store because it would not start. After trying to start it they said it needed a tune up and charged me $42. When I went in to pick it up, they charged me another $42+. When I said I had already paid when I dropped it off, they said that the original charge was a "diagnostic" fee. What a rip-off. I recommend you get your equipment repaired somewhere else. read more

There's ample parking. The store works well with both in-house sales and sales processed through the Ace Hardware website. This is my favorite Ace Hardware. New-ish Ace and a welcome alternative to the big-box hardware outlets. I'm from farther south and we had (and still have) Ace stores in my home town. The prices are higher on some items, lower on others, but you don't have to provision for a safari to find somebody to help you find what you're looking for, as is the case at Lowe's or HD. We zoomed in for some potting soil and a trenching shovel to get the herb garden going. No nonsense, in-and-out, and the staff was nice. Knowing that you're supporting a local business should matter. Visit Ace Hardware first when you're planning a project...you may be pleasantly surprised by the price and advice. read more

I was encouraged to patronize this obscure little jewel by my neighbor, the retired sports marketer-turned-antiques dealer. Glad I did. About a pico-second after walking in, one of their helpful, not-pushy, salespeople greeted me and took to to exactly what I needed. I know my way around a hardware store. It comes along with home ownership and middle-aged manhood. Still, it was nice to have a guided tour. I can see where this would be an ideal hardware store for newbies to DIY. I ordered online and went to the store to pick up my purchase. Every time I walk into the store I am greeted and asked how they can help me. I've been shopping there since they opened and it's always a pleasure. There are 2 guys in particular that I look for when shopping. Visited Crabapple Ace Hardware today since its close by. The price for the same model item was $10 higher than Midway Ace Hardware. Asked the owner if he could match the Midway price. He said "the price is the price". More about the manner in which he said it. Came across like he didn't need my business. Though farther away, I drove to Midway and made the purchase. Ace would not replace a bad can of spray paint, suggesting i did not buy it there since i didn't bring a receipt. They lost a customer over a $6 can of "Ace" paint. I left $30 of goods on the counter, with the manager making a dismissive comment. Very short sighted business decision, since i have been buying there since moving to Roswell 3 years ago. I've visited this store with mixed results. My most recent visits were during a bathroom renovation. An employee named Rob provided incredible assistance with a plumbing problem. He was patient and very knowledgeable. He found a way to help me when even the orange store couldn't. Later in the week my wife and I stopped to buy paint. Rob gave expert advice guiding us through the selections. He mixed our paint and even helped with great advice on the caulk and tools needed for great results. I came here to return a can of aura paint which is there top paint that cost $70.00 but got denied because you have to return items where you bought it. That's cool I understand that part but the fact that one of the staff named herb returned my can back to me damaged is not acceptable I even told him as soon as he handed it over to me if the other ace hardware will accept the damage can and he said it was like that and no it wasn't I inspected the can before returning and it was in perfect condition and he's going to say it was like that??? I walked in and was immediately asked what I was looking for. They told me what aisle to go to and when I arrived, another ace employee was there waiting for me. I generally don't like to interact with people unless I really need help but I have to say, wow! What a cool experience. I have visited the Crabapple Ace Hardware several times since they opened, and I can tell you that the quality of the personnel is reflective of the quality of the store owner, Herb. The focus on customer experience being helpful and personal is why local stores like this are making a comeback over the big box stores. Today I came in to take advantage of the BOGO paint sale, and from the moment I walked in Rhiannon was all over it. She saw what I needed, explained the quality difference in the paint I was considering, matched my sample PERFECTLY, and did all of this with personality. I don't recommend places as a habit.
