I stopped by Cozy Home Cafe during their soft opening and immediately understood the name. The space is warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. It genuinely feels like you're spending time in a cozy living room rather than a coffee shop. Every detail of the decor feels intentional, creating the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. As a book lover, I especially loved discovering their little library where customers can borrow books. Books and coffee under one roof is a combination that's hard to beat. The drinks and pastries were just as impressive as the space itself. I ordered the yuzu matcha with cheese foam and it was absolutely delicious. The bright citrus paired perfectly with the creamy cheese foam. I also tried the blueberry cobbler scone, which was the perfect sweet treat alongside my drink. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and you can tell there's a lot of passion behind this business. Cozy Home Cafe is a wonderful addition to Raritan, and I have a feeling I'll be becoming a regular very quickly.

Finally I tried again and this second time I was able to try some of their offerings. I came on a Saturday and they were hosting DayLite Jersey House Music event. It was LOUD and packed with people just standing around. The vibes were cool though. My friends came before me and were able to snag a table in the back room. I went up to the counter to order. Unfortunately my first choice, a matcha latte, was sold out. I asked if they had any other options because I'm not much of a coffee drinker. I was told that there were flavored lemonades, I asked the about the flavors and the person who was helping me wasn't sure so they went and asked another person who ended up coming to list the syrups and just ringing me out. I ordered a blueberry lemonade and a blueberry pop-tart to go. Everything was fine until the end of our time there. As we were getting ready to leave I grabbed what I thought was my cup and took a quick sip to finish it off so I didn't have to carry it around. Turns out I grabbed a coffee from the table instead. I thought it was my friend's so I apologized to her about drinking her drink because I didn't realize I grabbed the wrong one in the dark. She goes, "oh no it's not my drink...I have mine in my hand." I'm like whose drink and dishes are these? She said that they were there before they got there and they just pushed it to the side. Omg I almost gagged, I just took the biggest sip of some random person's drink by accident. At that point I get up to go to the bathroom to rinse out my mouth. While I'm gone by friends get their things ready and also wait outside the bathroom, which is right by our table. As soon as I get out I walk back to grab my pop-tart and it was gone, cleared away by the staff in a matter of minutes. Crazy that they left the table with dishes and cups when we got there but when we were leaving they were in a rush to clear away everything that they take my basically full pop-tart too. I was so defeated at that point I just left. To note, I did take one bite of the pop-tart and it was actually very good. My lemonade was fine, nice and tart. Overall service is kinda lacking but it was also a crazy day to visit with an event going on so I can't really comment on how they are normally. I don't think I will back because I don't know if I can recover from swigging some rando's drink.

Their menu features some really cool options, and their specialty drinks are clearly fan favorites. I couldn't decide between the coconut ube latte and the guava matcha latte, but I went with the latter and was thoroughly pleased! It had the perfect blend of tropical fruity flavor from the guava, and the matcha was spot on since it was smooth and not at all grassy. The staff was very pleasant, and my drink was prepared quickly yet with great care. I can't wait to go back soon and try some of their baked goods, which all looked divine!

Depending when you go, parking can be tricky, but not impossible. I recently went here on a Monday late morning/early afternoon and it was busy, but not too hectic. I saw that they have an Ube latte on their menu and as a Filipina American, I had to check it out. In addition to an ube enthusiast, I'm a Macha snob. I don't know anything about coffee, but matcha is my thing. My barista was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with my questions. I love that they use Nu milk for their alt milks as it tastes good without all the fillers. I ordered an Ube Matcha latte with almond milk from the barista's recommendation and got a vegan breakfast sandwich. Their Ube syrup was legit. You could taste the halaya and the color was a natural purple. I think and hope that they work with the Filipino owned brand to support the local farmers of the Philippines. You know Starbies isn't doing that. Unfortunately, the Matcha was not it. I cringed as I saw the barista pull the Matcha from a plastic Tupperware. I could not taste it at all in my latte and sadly consumed another green tea latte. (Not the same.) For me, I like a Matcha latte that is sweet, creamy, and umami. Suggestions: I think that their Ube latte would pair better with Hojicha (roasted green tea). I think the nuttiness of the Ube would compliment the cocoa / warm notes of the hojicha. I am a huge fan of Ooika in Princeton and I know they partner with other local cafes in NJ. They're very transparent and knowledgeable about Matcha and are a great resource. Most cafés focus on coffee, education, but nowadays, Matcha education is just as important. Final thoughts: I would happily return to Ambee. It's a great café that serves good quality drinks and food. It's a great place to work and build community. The baristas are kind and genuine, and their seasonal drinks look delicious. If you like Ube, definitely come here instead of Starbies. If you want other Ube treats or drinks, also check out Kafe de Manila, which is located a few doors away.

Yes, their Somerville location is very close by, but as someone who makes the drive from Hunterdon County to Hudson County, having a coffee shop along the route that didn't require a big detour was much needed. Also love that it seemed like a small family owned operation I opted for the calamansi drink which was perfect for a 90 degree spring day and a pandan coconut pudding to bring home. I wish the pudding was a bit less sweet (I tend to dislike overly sweet things) but overall, this is the most extensive filipino dessert place I've found in the tri- state area and I will be back if I'm around somerville again

Now, you might be wondering, what exactly is ube, and why is it so popular? Contrary to popular belief, ube isn't a fruit. It's actually a purple sweet potato that's highly sought after in the Philippines. If you love taro, you'll love ube even more. It's a staple in many Filipino desserts and dishes, known for its rich flavor and vibrant color. If you're in search of delectable drinks and cookies, this is your spot. I was looking for a good baguette in my neighborhood for a while. But as simple as a baguette may seem, making a tasty one is an art. I was running some errands when I suddenly felt pekish. I saw on Yelp that there was an "authentic French bakery" nearby and decided, "Why not?" Originally, I was thinking of getting a quiche, but as I got into the store, I decided to switch to an avocado egg sandwich. I am sure quiche is good, but I was impressed by the sandwich. It came on the plate with very fresh salad greens. Greens there fresh and sauce tangy, just what one needs to cut through the richness of avocado and egg. I think I had an entire Avacado cut on it. The avocado itself was just right. But the star of the show, for me, was a baguette! I inhaled the entire dish and asked if they sell baguettes on their own, which they do. The bakery associate told me they just ran out, but they are baking new ones now. If I wait 10-15 minutes, I will get a freshly baked one. I could not believe my lack. They came as promises and they were great, just smell alone was to die for There are so many other things I want to try, so I'll definitely be back. Thank you guys, you all made my day!
