We were seated immediately on the patio as per our request. Everyone in service was friendly and it seemed they shared the duties of tending to guests. We ordered shrimp scampi for appetizer which was tasty, especially the baguette that came with. For entree I got the migas and my fiancé got lamb shank. So there for you WERE wrong about NON CUSTOMER... but for sure your parking guard made that a reality. Your guard dog was way out of line after I told him my fiance and dog were in the truck and that they will move... "pointing at a sign shouting profanities after he saw my truck pulling out of your parking lot while I was standing infront of him." Maybe he was humiliated for creating a disturbance over something so petty so he resorted to insults. Huge surprise, would have never guessed we had such a delightful upper echelon quaint establishment here in downtown Montgomery. I have eaten my way around this little place, barely even registering it as a restaurant, and most certainly not one my cheeseburger loving husband would be willing to try. I was truly speechless when he said he had a place in mind and this was our final destination. I thought for sure we were heading to the new hot dog trailer or, fingers crossed, the fantastic Burger Fresh across the street. It was almost like I was waiting for the catch, so far the only catch is it was pretty chilly when we first arrived. Very nice wine list, some affordable choices amidst names unknown to this occasional drinker. After narrowing down our choices to the daily chicken dinner special, and tuna for me, we ran into a few eyebrow raising reflections First, I ordered tuna, but my server did not ask any follow up questions , like how did I want my tuna prepared, IMHO, very important. She is clearly a new server, probably her first job, she could use some help. The tuna is served with jasmine rice, I am a mashed potatoes lover, and this place definitely looked like they knew how to mash some potatoes. I wanted to swap out the rice with mashed potatoes. No substitution allowed. Fine, I still ordered the potatoes and had a little bit of both. My husband ordered a wedge salad, no Bleu cheese, but ranch instead. A few minutes later a different server came out to explain that Bleu cheese was the most boring dressing allowed at this fine restaurant, and he would have to choose an alternative. She assured us the closest to ranch would be the creamy cilantro. Neither of us are cilantro fans, but I convinced him to try it, on the side. It was basically ranch dressing with a cilantro flare, not overpowering at all, we both really liked it. So dont worry ranch lovers, there are alternatives. The restaurant is small and well staffed, thank goodness because our server didn't return until we asked for the check. Plenty of other employees were on hand to provide excellent service and attention. It's at this point in the review that I would have to say with a heavy sigh, this young lady is not cut out to be a server at this restaurant. She is too timid , too quiet , and needs a lot of training. This is not a place for amateurs. But back to the food. My husband had a chicken dinner special, which he insisted I try, it was divine and made me wish I had ordered that instead. My tuna was delicious, don't get me wrong, but Mike's chicken was out of this world good. He ate every single bite except the little one he gave to me. My tuna was very good, as was the rice and the vegetables, and yes, the mashed potatoes were very good too. Other people tended to us, filling our drink, clearing our table, boxing up my food, the server did make an appearance with the check. She offered a water to go, which I said yes to, she brought back the check and that was it, no water. I hope this server either gets better quickly or the next reviewer might not be so kind . This place is nice. Nothing extravagant, you can dress casually. Cute interior with an array of wines and patio seating is available. I had been curious about this spot so I met my bf for lunch. The service was friendly but it does take a minute for the food to come out. Not long enough to deter me from visiting. I had the chopped salad (nix the cheese) and a chicken soup. The chicken soup was good with the exception of a huge chunk of chicken that took up most if the cup. I took it out and ate the rest. The salad had fresh greens and was a plentiful serving. The dressing was light and the salad could have used a bit more (no biggie). It had plenty of nuts but they skimped on the tomatoes and cucumbers. It was decently priced for the quality & portions. This place is pretty cold inside, so bring a sweater if you get cold easily. I do want to try this place again for dinner and to try the wine. read more

I stopped in to escape the Texas heat on a Saturday late afternoon. I was greeted warmly at the entrance. The bartender had not officially opened but they let me go up anyways. Was planning on a light night with some exceptional wine, gifted to us a year ago when we purchased. Mr. wasn't feeling so well this a.m., so I started to decant our bottle early....but started to feel better this afternoon and I said I'd like to go to my favorite place... #Cozygrape ... I called ahead to ask the protocol on bringing in a decanted bottle - Mind you this is VERY exceptional and most reputable restaurants take into consideration special years or reserves and offer a corkage fee. Enjoyed H Wines and Cozy Grape last night with friends! Highly recommend both places! Both places offered a warm, inviting atmosphere and wonderful service! Wine choices were excellent at H Wine. Steven is happy to tell you the very interesting history of the bank building where H Wines is located and he offered a variety of wines-some made by him! Cozy Grape offers a large selection of food and drinks. We enjoyed a couple of the specials of the night-crawfish and shrimp fondue for an appetizer, followed by NY strip with bacon Brussel sprouts and potatoes, lamb with mashed potatoes and asparagus and sausage with red beans and rice. Our waiter needed a little more training, Maxim needs a little more training. We were given a chalkboard with the specials which we had told him we read but he insisted on reading it to us again. Extremely rude owner. I have eaten here many times with two different tennis teams over the past three years, I have eaten here with friends for lunch & for dinner. with my husband for lunch & for dinner. When I originally looked them up on Nextdoor, there were mixed reviews about being treated rudely by one of the owners. I have seen large parties here before in the evening and for lunch and have never seen anybody be asked to leave Until today I had never experienced it. There were 10 of us, we ordered drinks we ordered food, and then we were asked to be quiet, which was only heard by one person at the table. None of us had a clue what was going on and more than half the table was drinking tea and Coke the rest of the table with alcoholic beverages never even finished their drink, so that was not the issue. We were celebrating and enjoying each other's company like we always do. Next thing we knew we were being told our order was being canceled. We had to pay for our drinks and leave. I do not believe I need to pay for some thing that I did not get to consume because I was asked to leave. I have been playing tennis and going to lunch with my teams for 30 years from Katy to Houston from the Woodlands to Conroe. Dining at Federal Grill, to dining at Republic Grill. We routinely dine in the Walden area, and again I have never been asked to leave a restaurant before before . I can truthfully say this will be the last time I ever visited Cozy grape as well. I have dined here many times and seen large parties in the evening, our tennis teams have had end of season parties. Here, I have seen birthday celebrations, etc. I have never seen anyone asked to leave. They definitely need to learn over there how to treat your customers as they are in the service industry. We drive into Montgomery from time to time and have wanted to try this place. We walked in and it is kind of dark. The menu is very nice with some great wine selections. We had a bottle of rose Prosecco that was very good. I ordered a Tuscany sandwich and my wife had a shrimp salad. They both were very good. Our server was excellent - making sure our glasses were topped of as necessary. The only problem we had was our bottle of wine was on the menu for 22.00 and when we received our bill it was 29.00. I am handicapped and had my husband turn around in the parking lot of this place to drop me off so I could check out a boutique. We were going to eat there, or another place, after with my family. It clearly says you cannot park in the lot unless you are going there. My husband was pulling out when the old guy that owns the restaurant came after me yelling, "are you eating here?" I said my husband is turning around. He said I'm having you towed. THE COZY GRAPE, MONTGOMERY, TX I had a lunch date with a business friend. The lady had her hair done, a fresh mani pedi and a new dress... The whole thing was a complete nightmare. In short, The food was awful, the waiter was awful, the owner was...well...that's a long story... My friend was excited to try a new place. We went to THE COZY GRAPE WINE BAR AND "BISTRO"... I was curious about the place being new to the area, it seemed quaint. First of all, I eat at restaurants...a lot. I've been wining and dining business clients for 25 years in Houston. I am an award winning cook. I was begged repeatedly by Mayor Lyda Anne Thomas to open a restaurant in Galveston. You can bet your butt, more than a few a restauranteur sees Ol' Kdawg's face and runs up to shake my hand when I roll up to drop major cash. The day was going well until we sat down to eat at the less than "Cozy Grape." We walk in, the atmosphere was old building with lots of dark. However, the smell of roasted garlic permeated the room...that seemed a good sign. We orders a meat n cheese appetizer. The meat were paper thin Oscar Mayer quality cold cuts...for small pieces of cheese...a dot of honey and some nice herb butter. I'm trying to impress my date so I smile and sip my waters down Moscow Mule. The waitress brought the food out. Her shrimp tacos looked bad. Obviously they'd used from popcorn shrimp and the veggies appeared to be chopped with a hammer. My Red beans n rice looked old as dirt. I asked how about some hot sauce cheddar n green onion. Oh and can I get some bread? Walks away comes back with the cheese n "jalapeños". Me: I don't want jalapeños and where is the bread. Her: There's a charge for the jalapeños. The bread will be a bit. Me: skip the bread and I'll pass on the Jalapeños. Her: there's a charge for the bread. Me: I don't want it. Her: they started heating it up. There will be a charge. Me: I don't think I should be charged for something I haven't received. She leaves The owner pops up. Red faced and breathing like he had run a race. Him: is there a problem here?! Me: well yeah, the food wasn't very good and the waiter seemed confused. Him: (angry) yeah, well she said you didn't want to pay for the bread, what's that about?! Me: Sir, I don't like you're approach. It's off putting and angry, please just bring me my bill so I may leave. He stomps off, returns...hands me a bill. Charged me for the bread (dick move). I pay the bill. Begin to leave. As I do I take a couple of pictures of the restaurant to blast him on Facebook and all hell broke loose. He starts screaming "YOU CANT TAKE PICTURES IN HERE!" His little LatinX cook runs out the kitchen and grabs my arm screaming. "NO PICTURES EES PRIVATE PROPERTY!!! I got HOT GET YOUR HAND OFF ME! NOW! The owner is screaming if I take another pic he's calling the police. Screams to his cool, "TAKE A PICTURE OF HIS TAG!" Mind you I'm walking out the restaurant the whole time from the patio to the front door. I stop and say...Please Call the police! He did!!! O M G Three cars screech up in 5 minutes. I get frisked in front of the restaurant (a new and most unpleasant experience, I assure you). The police ask my side and theirs. The officer in charge: He can took pictures? You called us for that?!!! The owner screamed: its my private business! The cook yelped it in echo. The officer yelled at them: DONT TELL ME THE LAW! I TELL YOU THE LAW! AND THE LAW IS HE CAN TAKE PICTURES. Looked at he cook and said, "DID YOU GRAB HIS ARM?!! IF YOU DID, HE COULD PRESS CHARGES!" I did not. The other two officers were cracking me up and I them by the time it was all over. Hopefully I see them at the bar they recommended, I'll definitely be buying them beers! In the end I made some friends. But damn that was a horrible and surreal meal. The Cozy Grape is bitter and sour, just my opinion. read more

What a surprise!! We are in Montgomery right?! The ambiance, the staff, the patio, the FOOD!!! This place is worth the drive if it's not nearby or you'll be eating here weekly if it's in your neck of the woods. With 7 hungry girls we had a good bit of the menu in one visit and everything, EVERYTHING was delicious (even the escargot). The staff was attentive. The patio was adorable. It was covered but still gives you breeze and the weather outside was perfect. Inside you could have an extremely romantic meal or outside something more casual. Here from out of town and just wanted a glass of wine around 1:00 on a Friday afternoon. Walked in and saw a bar at the back. Upon approaching the bar we noticed there was paperwork and what appeared to be an employee meeting going on. Asked if we could sit at the bar and were told no, get a table. Then immediately told to go to the bar upstairs. My husband is handicapped so while deciding if he could get up the stairs, I saw the restroom and told my husband to decide and I would be right out. Behind me I heard a snarly voice state "they are just here to use the restroom". I turned around and told what I presumed to be the owner/manager and said, "you are rude!" and we left.
